we're treated to glimpses of the past and how they have adapted to this new reality. more emphasis on world building, but the contrast between Hm and the newly introduced rogue, is quite interesting. they are mirrors, almost foils to one another - driven by familial goals, both trying to strive (survive?) under the new rules. "Here is today's glimmering wisdom: everything's changed, nothing's changed." 6.5/10
I quickly grew to appreciate that Spurrier doesn't shy away from making Hum an actual rogue. The reveal at the end of the first issue felt like it could tread down the righteous path towards tradtional heroics. However the book opens with Hum being unceremoniously sent from the city tied to his pentacorn (hell yeah) He's willing to do what it takes to complete his quest.
