Moonbeams & Wolf Dreams

Rate this book
“The pressure in my bones that I had been feeling all day popped and it was like lightning crawling under my skin as my body shifted for the first time. “

Aylin Lucene always believed she was destined to shift for the first time into an animal of prey. So low on the hierarchy that even her Alpha knew she would only be good enough for breeding his pups. In her pack, and packs across the world there is a distinct hierarchy between the shifters. Even though she has never felt the need to bow down and show her neck, her adoptive father has taught her all the skills she needs to survive, and thank Goddess he did.

The nights before Aylin’s first shift the Goddess Selene begins speaking to her in her dreams and now she doesn’t know where destiny will lead her and her new mates.

This is Reverse-Harem Paranormal Romance where the main character does not have to choose one, but chooses all of the men she wants. Trigger warnings for this book include the following: sexual assault, death, and lots of sex. 18+ readers only.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

Wow just wow!!! My mind is completely blown after reading this book! It contains some of the best world building ever sucking you in from the very first page and not letting you go until you run out of words to read. We meet Aylin after she spends years being raised by the sweetest fox shifter after she was abandoned at birth. Her pack has a screwed up structure that makes it necessary for her to run as soon as she comes into her full shifting powers though this does come with some awesome surprises for her I must say. This writing is so good I was upset when it was over and now I really need book two to find out what incredible thing happens next. If you like paranormal shifter reverse harem romance novels then this is a must read. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.

Oh wow!! This is the kind of book that I love, that makes me internally squeal in delight. It is exciting from the start, Aylin has to pretend to be less than she is in order to survive on the pack but her awakening is soon. Little does she know she is the one to fulfil the prophesy!

With excitement danger Romance and steam, this is a great well written story which I thoroughly enjoyed and I am in desperate need of book two!

It was a quick reading but I really enjoyed this one! I usually prefer books with younger characters but this book just got to me. I love how the MC is strong and accepted her mates and I hope the new one comes out soon.

Horrible and Wonderful

This book is both horrible and wonderful at the same time. The storyline is great! It has the potential to be such a great story with interesting characters and unique elements. I love the element of predator vs prey and how they interact in a pack.

The execution of this book is absolutely horrible. The characters tell you what they are going to do before they do it. A lot of the interactions come across as extremely stilted. The emotions of the characters do not ring as believable for the time frame given. This author shows a lot of promise but needs lots more time working with good editors and beta readers before being published.

A good start to the series but there were a few things that bothered me so I couldn’t give this 5*. The story starts off well with some great flashes of humour despite the MCs crappy life

I swear the reason I was so tiny was because I’d grown up eating 90% vegetable soup. I wouldn’t be surprised if I shifted into a wild potato tomorrow.

Most of the sex scenes didn’t work for me. I wondered if poor Liam was going to get even more abused with the wooden spoon when the lube came out. And moments like this:-

Jacobi tasted like the freshness of grapes and the spiciness of lamb meat. "Have you been eating gyros today?" I asked him cheekily. "How can you tell?"

Not sexy.

Some of the names I found distracting, they pulled me from the story. For example : A town called Boner Creek (sounds like slang for a vagina) and a character called Anakin. As much as I tried to forget Star Wars, I just couldn’t.
There were also a few lines of description and speech that I found a bit jarring.

When we FIRST meet the dragon shifter...

Seven and a half inches, the perfect amount of girth and slight curve to the left.

Really?? Do I need THAT much detail? I’d be happy at eye/hair colour at this point. Muscled, skin tone, whether he’s hairy or not. If they are having sex? Sure; I don’t mind a more detailed description. But yeah, TMI.

And:-
“We can play hide the pickle together later,” I said.
Which is a funny line, but felt out of place in the dialogue because it was used after she’d buried a loved one. It did end in a cliff hanger but it didn’t bother me.

This was a fun and short read, and a good start to a new series.

Pros:
1. The FMC is a strong character.
2. Her mates are all different and complement her well individually and as a whole.
3. The book was fast paced and kept me on my toes throughout the book.
4. I loved the take on wolves and gods.
5. The humor in the book was great!
6. The steamy scenes were well written.

Cons:
1. Even though I loved the humor at times it just felt misplaced. I know that humor is often used to relieve the stress or tension in a situation but it just didn’t resonate with me at times.
2. Overall I enjoyed reading the steamy scenes but there were some descriptions/ details that instead of turning me on, rather turned me off. (For example the part about gyros)

The book ends on a major cliffhanger that fits the story perfectly and thus, i can’t wait to read the next installment to find out what happens next to Aylin and her mates!

Where to begin? This book has so many compelling emotions. The FMC is an incredibly dominant character being forced into an initial role that absolutely defies who she is. When she has the chance to show her true self it causes massive conflict with many people. She goes through a gauntlet of emotional triumphs and heartache. The men in the story all have their own emotions and turmoil you only get some hints of, but character wise they are very well described. You can visualize them very easily. All the characters are very easy to visualize. You have your sadistic, your mean girls, your paternal, and your men. I can keep reading this over and over. And every time I find a new favorite detail or part to love.

This was a cute story. I really liked it. The only thing that I had a hard time with was that the tenses kept changing from past to present and on occasion a character would make a claim about something, then pages later it would seem the opposite of what was said.

I enjoyed the writing and how the characters interacted together. The story was not what I had expected (in a totally good way) and the writing style is clean and easy to follow with. The five guys that are the original shifters seem really interesting and I hope that we learn more about their pasts (we did start too, now I just hope for more). I look forward to the next book in the series.

I’m not going to give away any spoilers except this and that is there is a cliffhanger which I think was a nice cliffhanger compared to some of the ones I’ve come across in so many books. But I really enjoyed reading this book.
First time reading anything by Sarah Louise and I gotta say she did good at weaving her story that it just keeps you hooked from the beginning of the book right up until you get to the end of it.
I look forward to reading more of this story and I look forward to reading other books by her.
So yes I definitely recommend this book because like I said I enjoyed it and I think you will too.

This will be a book that i read many times, and i need the next book now!!

We have the main character Aylin who is a strong female lead. She is very dominant and it shows, however having to live years hiding that same dominance she is having some difficulty with showing it. I was confused some during the story, and a few small issues with the characters but nothing to take away from the story.

Overall the writing style was easy, with some issues on my part, the story is catchy, with a good paranormal element, and characters that keep it interesting. A great read, and I cannot wait to read more.

Love Love Love!!

As always, Sara Louise has gone above and beyond expectations! M&WD is about an adopted girl growing up in a terrible pack. Always having to hide her true nature. On the full moon after her 25th birthday she shifts for the first time and it all hits the fan. There are a few unexpected twists and turns, but they are soo good! I was so immersed in Aylin’s world that I didn’t realize I was at the end of the book until I flipped pages and was at the Acknowledgement page! I’ve come to notice this is a trend when reading anything by Sarah Louise, and that is what keeps me coming back. Great job and I cannot wait for book 2!!

M&WD is a enjoyable, short read, and a well written book. Note: the book does leave on a major cliffhanger.
To others it was a great book, but for me it was good. It gripped my attention in the beginning and semi-middle. Since it was a short read, to me, it felt like the author was moving between speeds of fast, slow, too fast. All in all, good book, good start to a series, and a cliffhanger to entice readers to continue to follow the series.

Unique blend of mythology

This book was unique in its own way. I liked how the shifter hierarchy was established with predators and prey. It’s not something I normally see in shifter romance. The author blends Greek, Norse, and Egyptian Mythology in a way that is distinctly her own story. And I loved the cliffhanger at the end. The next book should be fantastic! Four glittery stars!

Moonbeams and Wolf Dreams was a really good start to what I think will be a good series. Aylin is dominant, yet she is able to suppress it like no other shifter would be able to. That alone shows her strength. She feels deeply, yet she doesn't let her feelings keep her from doing what she needs to in order to protect those that can't protect themselves. I can't wait to read more of Aylin's adventures with her guys and see where her story goes.

Good

So, in general I liked where this story went. It did have a few problems. There were some grammatical errors. I also felt like the storyline was good but it wasn’t fully fleshed out. There were also several points where there were radical shifts in a character’s emotions without transition which left the flow sort of choppy. It has potential but it needs a bit of refinement.

Great start to an new series!I really like this take on shifters and the Gods so far. Aylin is a strong MC in her own right, but she is figuring out how to lean on those closest to her to help her through emotionally and physically when she needs it most. I can't wait to find out what happens in the next book.

I loved this book. It's a really good start to a new series. Aylin is a strong character. I really liked the whole concept of the book. She is strong and know what she has to do to survive and is willing to fight to live. Her mates are each different in their own right and I am enjoying their interactions so far. I'm looking forward the next book.

This book was fantastic! It has strong characters that draw you in and don't let go. It has strong, kind, sexy men, and a beautiful woman destined to be together. It has evil men, God's, Goddesses and mystery. This is a story that has it all. Don't hesitate to purchase this book because you'll just regret it in the end if you do.

An interesting beginning to a new series. It definitely has it’s emotional ups and downs. I liked how Aylin was strong mentally, emotionally and physically. And the five guys definitely have more to tell us about themselves in future books. Lots of action and some steamy scenes as Aylin claims her mates.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.

Pretty hot little book! Interesting take on the shifter world. Keeps you interested without being too involved in the back story but gives you a good understanding to start. I liked the fact that this particular MC was brave, smart, hot and strong. Her men are delicious too! Can't wait to read the next in the series. Steam 10/10 Sweetness 9/10 Somewhat alternating POV

Storyline and execution

Love the storyline, but I gave it a four for rushing through parts of the story. I think I understand why but will have to wait for the next one in the series to find out if I'm right. I'm looking forward to learning more about her mates and Aylin and to see what direction the prophecy leads us.

Unfortunately this just wasn’t personally my cup of tea. I had a bit of a hard time getting into it but I honestly feel like that’s on me though and not the author or writing. There’s a lot of shifters and a lot of things happen along the way. So if you’re up for a young love, shifter RH romance, this is for you!!

Awesome!

Great book! I really wasn't ready for this book to end! Aislyn is an amazing character and is very likeable. Her mates are all amazing too! Not an example in the bunch! I love that her wolf is a somewhat separate entity and love the cheeky conversations between the two! I am ready for book 2! Bring it on!

Love the main character

Aylin is fierce and determined not to let anyone get in the way of her leaving. Her ability to hide her strength when needed to use it later on was a great way for the author to make you root for Aylin the whole book. Wonderfully written and enables a reader to truly be engrossed in the book.

This was a great paranormal story about shifters. The wolf shifter and her 5 mates have been tasked with such a large job of fixing the wrongs of the world between shifters and other beings.
This story was a quick read and kept me curious as to what would happen next.
I look forward to book 2!

Loved this book. Little warning it does end on a cliffhanger. This is my heaven: shifters in a reverse harem. The main character Aylin is easy to like and a strong woman. Her harem is filled with yummy shifters and they are on a mission. I can't wait to see where book 2 takes them.

A reverse harem, Paranormal tale about a wolf shifter finding her five (gulp, five) true mates.

This book sets up the forthcoming series nicely. It explains how she first transformed, sets out the plans that the Goddess Selene has got and introduces her mates one by one.

This has the makings of a really good series. This first book is a little light on character details, something which I’m hoping future books will resolves as I’m keen to learn more. A promising start.

Well that was quick but good

I enjoyed this book. I read it in about an hour. I usually like longer books so that’s the only thing I’ll complain on. I hope the new one comes out soon. It was a good story line. I enjoyed this read.

I absolutely loved this take on shifters and packs. If there is anything like it already out there, I have yet to stumble upon it. Quite a few unexpected twist to keep you on your toes and tons of steamy scenes to curl them! Can't wait for the next book!
