Just six simple words, they comprised the last sentence ever uttered by the man that killed Kyle Clady’s wife. A sentence that he is unable to get out of his head, the possibilities it contains keep him awake at night, spurring on his every movement.
But little does he know, he isn’t the only one being affected.
Across town, two meetings take place almost simultaneously as a result. The first involves the people that hired the hit, the action taken a part of a business decision that still needs to be seen through. Twenty miles away, a second takes place, held by the men that the shooter rode with, people considered closer than brothers, that would do anything to mete out their own form of justice.
Join Kyle as he begins to uncover that what started as a single, senseless act of violence has a reach and scope much wider than he’d have ever thought possible…
I originally hail from the midwest, growing up in the heart of farm country, and still consider it, along with West Tennessee, my co-home. Between the two, I have a firm belief that football is the greatest of all past-times, sweet tea is really the only acceptable beverage for any occasion, there is not an event on earth that either gym shorts or boots can't be worn to, and that Dairy Queen is the best restaurant on the planet. Further, southern accents are a highly likeable feature on most everybody, English bulldogs sit atop the critter hierarchy, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with a Saturday night spent catfishing at the lake.
Since leaving the midwest I've been to college in New England, grad school in the Rockies, and lived in over a dozen different cities ranging from DC to Honolulu along the way. Each and every one of these experiences has shaped who I am at this point, a fact I hope is expressed in my writing. I have developed enormous affinity for locales and people of every size and shape, and even if I never figure out a way to properly convey them on paper, I am very much grateful for their presence in my life.
To sum it up, I asked a very good friend recently how they would describe me for something like this. Their response: "Plagued by realism and trained by experiences/education to be a pessimist, you somehow remain above all else an active dreamer." While I can't say those are the exact words I would choose, I can't say they're wrong. I travel, live in different places, try new foods, meet all kinds of different people, and above all else stay curious to a fault.
Here's hoping it continues to provide us all with some pretty good stories...
Big fan of Dustin Stevens and enjoyed this book but it should have been one big book instead of the small books he has created for this series. First, I do not have any type of electronic reader so I have to buy these books at paperback prices and feel somewhat cheated because I'm paying for a few chapters instead of a whole book. Not for sure if I will continue reading or not. But, this would not stop me from purchasing his other books in series, i.e., Billie and Reed, the Hawk series, etc.
As I've said before, I love Dustin Stevens style of writing in that the chapters go from storyline to storyline, always keeping you reading to see what's next. He never disappoints as his stories put you in the edge of your seat and waiting for more. Can't wait for the next installment.
I spend the nice leisurely late afternoon reading and was really enjoying this book. However the book to send it, it felt about 2/3 of the way through. I can't say I've ever had this happen before, I wouldn't even consider reading anything else he had written this made me so irritated.
I've enjoyed reading this book just as much the second time around as the first. It is another, fast moving, interesting read, that I have no trouble recommending. My only complaint is that I wish that it was all in a novel that I didn't have to take the time to look for the next one.
Stevens continues to deliver some of his best stuff in his use of the episodic format… Of particular interest is his use of italicized flashbacks to give tension relief and create empathy building background, while binding the reader to the pathos of his main characters
This author makes the Navy seal out to be worthless. The author literally takes a 10 year, seasoned Navy seal and shows him making every wrong decision imaginable. He gets beat up, knocked down over come by nobody’s. I got through the first book and 10 pages into this book. It’s unreadable.
Redundant. This experiment is redundant. Reintroducing his family, friends, places of interest is boring......wasting words just filler. Can't bother to finish.
Could not stop reading these two books, i was totally spellbound. Looking forward to the next in this series, 'the Mira Saga'. I just know the conclusion will be spectacular as all the story lines meld into amazing-ness. Thanks again
Than a writer who writes just for the sake of writing. Wayyyyyy to much filler and not enough focus on the actual story. If you can't keep them coming back by telling us what's going on your wasting everyone's time.
I don't care if you write under the name Repunzel, just make sure I know. What an attention getting story!!! Come on with Book 3,Horse Trading. Then immediately bring on 4 and 5. I haven't been this enthralled with a book in quite some time.
Dustin Stevens, writing as T. R. Kohler, has done a wonderful job with the story that began with Spare Change. The pacing of the story is terrific. Have fun reading this!
A very good action thriller. A little hard to follow the story because it kept going back to previous events, but I have already purchased the follow-up novel find out what finally happens to the main character.
It keeps your attention for sure. As a sudden widower I know the pain of losing my husband. This books captures the emotions so true and the hunt for her killer is very good. Being a Navy SEAL PUTS him in a professional mode. Very good reading!
An ex Navy SEAL begins looking for why his wife was murdered. He soon finds out that things aren’t what they seem. He soon becomes embroiled in a conspiracy he know’s nothing about and almost dies trying to get answers.
This "episode" was not as satisfying as the first book. It didn't stop at the right place. If the next installment is not available to someone, it is very much like leaving the book you're half through on the airplane when you get off.
Another episode of Mira that’s amazing. I’m having a hard time waiting for him to find out what happened and why! Love being the supreme effort between two persons of like minds. Can’t wait to begin the next story.
Part 2 of the story ended before I even realized it was time for the book to end. Kyle is getting a little closer to the reason Mira was killed, but there is no hint of it yet...just a couple of the characters involved. So, we move on to part 3.
The second book in the My Mira series was as addictive as book 1 was. Both books have been hard to put down once I started reading them and enjoyed every minute of it.
The Mira and Kyle story continues as Kyle seeks to learn why anyone would want his wife dead. It's still not clear just what the basis for the hit is but I am starting to draw my own conclusions
Kyle is full of surprises and he pulls them out quite often. That gnawing question - why Mira??? As more questions unfold there are very few answers so I hope there are some answers in the next book.
