She’s feisty. He’s fiery. Compromising is going to be a problem…
It began with an argument over a room and who was going to use it. It didn’t end in that room. It simply started.
Maxwell Callaghan has long since accepted his place as the bachelor of his family. Married to his career as a lawyer specialising in medical negligence and committed to lecturing in his subject, Max is in no way prepared for the sheer feistiness of the curvy Victoria Davies, admin extraordinaire and history PhD student.
Victoria Davies has a plan: to get her doctorate and a prestigious post abroad at a top university. What isn’t on her agenda is Maxwell Callaghan and in fact, she’d much prefer him not to be on anything - except maybe… her?
Two individuals, two different ideas about their futures, and enough heat to melt the arctic. But if they want that future to include each other, can a compromise be agreed?

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is my honest review. I had previously read the other 2 books in this series and quickly became a fan of Ms. Dyer, so when there was an opportunity to read this book via ARC, I jumped in at the chance. This book is the story of Max, the eldest of the Callaghans, and Victoria. Their love story develops rather quickly, over funny insults and intense sexual energy. We also see more of the Callaghan Green family and get a sense of how close and supportive, protective of each other they are. The author makes you feel part of the family. Max and Vic seem to be fit for each other. This book made me smile, laugh out loud, cry; and the sexual scenes were super hot! I really liked it and look forward to the next book in the series. At this time, Max and Vic are my favorite couple within this lovely family.
This is my least favorite of the series, and I am not sure why. It's nothing I can put my finger on. I loved the main characters and as always the extended family.
I loved this leg of the journey through the world of the Callaghans. Maxwell, the married to his work brother, who doesn’t suffer fools gladly, has a short fuse and a quick temper meets his match in Victoria. Read how they both deal with their perspectives on how life should be, rather than how they want it to be. The support characters add to this brilliant story.
Overall good romance book but very predictable...to the point I thought I had read this before but after checking the publication date that was not possible. Tough guy exterior falls for (but resists) beautiful, intelligent and witty woman who also falls for man but “accepts” it’s just a casual fling until she’s forced to decide on her career next steps. Man shares his love, buys her expensive childhood home as a show of this love and they live happily ever after. YadaYada. I kept reading the whole thing because it was well written but they may have also been good timing because it was my vacation read and didn’t require to much thinking.
4.5 stars. My favorite so far in this series. Thank you dear author...no break up or accidental pregnancy just Max and Victoria finding their way together with a tiny bit of side drama. Finding a warm spot for this close knit Callaghan clan, looking forward to book 4.
This may be my favorite book through book 5. I had to skim less of it. All of these books are too long and drag in the middle. This one, so far, has dragged the least. I loved their bickering and definitely felt the heat between them. They did jump a little fast from arguing to being flirtatious but that was OK. Even though this may be my favorite book so far, I don't know that they are my favorite couple. Jackson and Vanessa may be. I liked Claire and Killian much better in the books leading up to theirs and their book than afterward. Claire isn't always painted in a good light in the books after hers.
I enjoyed this book. I loved the characters. It was a sweet romance with some steamy scenes that didn't fog up the mirrors. I can't remember when I have read a book that had such a high rating with so many grammatical errors outside of this series. I've read through book 5 at this point and the author has not improved her grammar yet. I don't understand how feedback from her readers hasn't caused her or her editor to learn the proper use of pronouns. She is constantly using "me" as a subject. Such as "me and Victoria are going to...." This is a pet peeve of mine but it is rarer to see me used as a subject than I as an object. While she doesn't do that nearly as often, it isn't uncommon to see that as well. The vast majority of her characters are lawyers. These are people who would know better.
As I said, I have enjoyed the characters and the story but it was too long. At least 5 scenes could have been cut from the book to make it flow better and keep your attention. I am reading the series, but not Simone and Sophie's books, but you should know almost every book in the series follows the pattern of two people getting together even though they think they shouldn't because of some other reason. They mostly say it is just casual. Their families point out there is nothing casual about it. There is some minor breakup and they get back together.
This author is actually not that romantic. By the 5th book, the few proposals have been mostly low key. The epilogues all need to be about 5 times as long. As far as book boyfriends go, these guys are probably great but we don't see them doing a lot of the things we like about book boyfriends.
Compromising Agreements is the third book of the series and can be read as a standalone. I will say that having read the first two books did make this better for me as I was waiting for Max's story. He is the brooding, eldest, Callaghan sibling and was due to meet his match and certainly did with Victoria.
Maxwell Callaghan has always been the responsible Callaghan having to take a leadership role way too soon when his mother passed away when they were young. He was there for his siblings and made sure they had what they needed and to this day he still takes a vested interest in their wellbeing. He has now watched two of his siblings find love, but he knows that is not in the cards for him. His past dictates his future and he is not prepared for the feelings that the feisty new admin stirs up in him.
Victoria Davies has a plan: to get her doctorate and a prestigious job in America at a top university. What isn’t part of her plan is the very handsome Professor Callaghan and the feelings he stirs up inside her. He makes her start to believe that there could be a different plan in store for her.
I love how these two are fire from the very start. They both are strong willed, determined and have an openness and humor about them that was fun to read. I could not wait for Max to find his person. Victoria is perfect for him. She does not cower to him, she stands up for herself and challenges him. This story has humor, plenty of good sexy time, a good storyline with a tiny little bit of mystery and great secondary characters that round it all out.
This could use a little bit of an edit though. When the author uses similar names for some of the main characters there is bound to be some errors. There were a few times AND a whole chapter that used Veronica's name instead of Victoria. It did not take away from the story, but if you had not read book one, you would be confused as to who Veronica was. Other than that I really enjoyed Max and Victoria. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Gw baca ini tu berenti-berenti mulu, dari di sambi ntn Kdrama yg ternyata bagus.. trs acara harbolnas, bukanya lanjut baca gw malah asik mantengin olshop kwkwkwkw
Ceritanya si mainstream lah, kesel2 di awal.. trs tdk bisa mengelak dari daya tarik masing-masing, tp masing-masih pada gak mau berkomitmen, masnya gak mau kaya bapaknya sementara mbaknya mau kelarin PHD trs mau ngajar di US aja, sesuai obrolan sama alm, kakeknya untuk liat dunia luar.
Gw suka si karena ternyata
Gw suka si sibling rival nya.. Joseph ini die kenapa si.. kaga suka tinggal sendirian.. demennya ngerecokin kakak2nya hahahahahaha mo baca buku 2 kali : Claire (adeknya Max) - Killian (temennya Max)
This is an OK romance, but I did have some issues with it. It gets 3 stars from me.
It features a couple that have some hot scenes. It seemed to me like they were mostly in lust. I had trouble believing their confessions of love -- they were definitely in lust, and couldn't keep their hands off each other, but I just didn't buy that they were in love.
Maxwell and Victoria were OK, but it bothered me that almost their entire relationship seemed to be based on sex. Sexual attraction is important, but a relationship needs more than sex to be healthy -- and I just didn't really see that they had much else in common.
One thing that really bothered me about this book (and the entire series, so far) was all the drinking. It seemed to me that all of the main characters were practically alcoholics -- they drank all the time, and were constantly getting totally hammered.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
This book has a lot of emotional up's and downs, and that makes it very hard to put the book down! The book has pain, heartbreak and triumph written on every page. It is an awesome story of raw emotion. I totally loved this book about Max; he is hot, controlling, sexual, and possessive as hell. Max has interested me for a while now. However, getting to really know him is so much freaking better! The way his siblings talk about him it seems like he would never find love. First, because he's afraid that what happened to his mom will happen to his partner. Second, he seems like he always has a stick up his a**. But Max surprised everyone with Victoria; I think he even surprised himself, because he was definitely not ready for what he was feeling for her. It took his father, step-mother, and Seph talking to him until he finally opened up his eyes. He accepted his feelings for Vic, and opened up to her. He did the right thing: he didn't let love pass him by.
I have loved every book better than the last in the Callaghan Series. It's awesome that you still get to hear about the other characters in the series. Annie Dyer, you're doing a remarkable job with this series...I can't wait for the next book!
This is book three in this series, you don't need to read the others first but it's better for my blood pressure if you do because that's so much tidier.
Anyway this is about Maxwell Callaghan, the oldest of a family of mostly lawyers. Max teaches at the local uni on the side, this is where he meets Victoria Davies, she works part time in admin and teaches history.
I'm not going to say much more because it'll spoil your reading but their initial meeting made me laugh out loud as i work in education and have seen thisso often. The email conversation that follows made me chuckle especially the emojis. I loved their interaction and how Max's family and their friends and colleagues affect their story.
I don't want to spoil the story so I'll not say much more but this book pulled me in and kept me, I was swirled up in their lives and spilled out at the end somewhat lime a beached whale. (I've not been out in the sun as much as you, don't judge me.)
Anyway like i said this is book three which you can read first if you really want to just don't tell me if you do, books one, Engagement Rate and two, White Knight are great too.
Quick Info Standalone/Cliffhanger?: Standalone Part of a Series?: Yes ---------------------------------- Meeting the Characters Maxwell Callaghan Victoria Davies ---------------------------------- What happens? Maxwell is trying to teach a course at his local university only to find the room he wants and the room he always has are taken by a history course. Victoria is unwilling to give the room up. She won't bow down to pressure no matter how good looking he is. Final thoughts I thought this was a good book to this series. The only thing I will say is it is getting confusing with all the new characters added, you've got a lot of family members and they then get spouses so you double the amount of people. It also would have helped not having Vanessa and then Victoria. I kept getting confused. I know its different but the names both start with a V so keeping myself in check was difficult but the characters were different so that made it easier. Would I read again?: Yes Would I read this author again?: Yes
I knew it was going to take someone really strong and outspoken to get to Maxwell, the oldest of the Callaghan/Green siblings and the one that is married to his work. When the lecture room he wants is booked due to a mistake, he gets chewed out by the admin in the law department Victoria who is a History PHD candidate. It felt like sparks were shooting out of my Kindle reading their exchange and the sexual tension between them was whew! I loved that Victoria made Maxwell want to take time for himself and while they didn't intend to become lovers and then more. Maxwell has scars from his mother's suicide at a young age and it took an eye opening conversation with his father to realize that despite wanting to Maxwell can't control everything and protect everyone he loves 24/7. Victoria had some baggage she was dealing with along with still mourning her beloved grandfather's death, but she was a pretty upbeat and positive person and helped Maxwell see that letting go and letting someone else be in charge isn't a bad thing. All in all my favorite of the series to date.
This series just gets better with every book as we get to know everyone in the family more and more as the books go on and this time it is Maxwells turn. Max is use to getting want he wants so when the room he always uses for lectures isn't available he is not a happy camper, it doesn't help that the admin lady doesn't seem to know or care who he is or want to help him get the room back ...... oh yeah thats because she is also the other Lecturer!! Max and Victoria fall for each other hard yet neither will admit how they feel, Victoria is fixated on the plan that she talked about with her Grandfather so expects to be leaving the country soon and Max is caught in the pas that he can't move on from. There is plenty going on in this book that had me glued to the pages as these 2 really had me guessing how it would pan out and let me tell you there will be tears, laughter, frustration, anger and grief to keep you going!
This book is the crowning champion of enemies to lovers stories. It’s witty and hot, with sexy times that will make your insides flutter and your heart melt. Max and Victoria are just the right mix of sweet and sarcastic and as the story unfolds we get to peel back their layers one at a time. Max is the broody, hot, alpha male that is afraid of commitment. Victoria is brave and strong but underneath her armor is a heart the size of London. They each slowly open themselves up to a chance at real love, but their careers just might be enough to ruin their happily ever after. It’s the struggle of life and love and overcoming your past. This story goes well with a glass of wine and a roaring fire. Don’t miss out on the rest of the Callaghan brother’s stories in: Engagement Rate and White Knight .
I was fortunate to receive an ARC for this book, which was great - I couldn’t wait to see what Max was in for. And it was better than I had imagined!
Max, the oldest of the Callaghan Green clan, is respected by his siblings but is very stoic & detached. When Max meets the feisty, independent, intelligent Victoria, sparks fly! Much like in the first two books, enjoyable banter is woven throughout the book - between Max, Victoria, & Max’s family. And let it be known there is some serious heat between Max & Vic.
I love family series - I can’t get enough of Jackson & Vanessa and Claire & Killian - and the author paints such vivid characters! I want a crazy brother like Seph, a cursing stepmum like Marie, and a mysterious sibling like Callum! This book made me laugh, cry, smile, and crave her next book- I can’t wait!

Compromising Agreements The Callaghan Green Series Annie Dyer
“She’s feisty. He’s fiery. Compromising is going to be a problem. “ Maxwell is a strong, deep, brooding and slightly troubled man. He is at the top of his field as a lawyer and professor. His first encounter with Victoria is an argument. She is a lecturer in history, finalising her PhD and working in the law office at her university. To suggest that both were rather forthright is an understatement. They match up in wit and intelligence, neither will back down from a good argument. Awesome characters with real and deep emotions draw you into this hot romance. The Callaghan’s are all entertaining siblings, and while this is a complete story with hea it definitely sits in the Callaghan Green series. 5 stars
Omg this book blew me away! So far this book is my fav of the series! Max and Vic are a feisty pair and I loved every second of it! I love how Victoria out Max in his place, he so needed it. I also loved how Max and his father mended a bridge that in previous books seemed broken within the siblings. I am hoping that bridge continues to get stronger and stronger as each sibling finds their match. I loved the passion Max has for law and the types of cases he takes. It is important we continue to talk about post partum depression. I need Seph to get his book because he is really becoming one of my favs!
This is such a great book! There are seriously laugh-out-loud moments here that you don't get in just any romance. Victoria and Max are a pair that is absolutely unforgettable. Historian and lawyer -- absolutely lovable. Even their flirting is smoking hot. They start out at odds but end absolutely in synch. I'm trying not to spoil anything for anyone, but just read it. Really, read it. And yes, I had an advance copy.
Oh, make sure no one who thinks you're crazy if you laugh over something you've read is nearby. When you see a text exchange coming, don't take a sip of anything unless you like it coming out your nose. You'll be thankful for that advice, believe me.
I was very happy that Max found a woman who was not afraid to stand up to him and put him in his place when necessary. Victoria is a great addition to the Callaghan Green series. She is a smart, independent and beautiful woman. This book tied up a few questions raised over the past two books as well as brought up some new things that I hope are addressed in future books. Those include, why does Seph not want to stay by himself, and is Eli going to be a love interest for one of the Callaghan Green sisters?
Great family series. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
This book could have easily been four stars for me but a couple or so times, I am unsure of whose pov I am reading as it will start off with one then change to the other in the same chapter/character pov (confusing I know!). There was even a chapter/character pov with the wrong name. The editing absolutely needs work. And the pet names? Well that was just off for me. Anyways these are my negatives. There were much more positives for me and they outweigh the negatives. I find the book to be entertaining and enjoyable. From the start I was engaged and locked in and I so wanted to read more about these two. Still loving the family dynamic and I can’t wait to read more in the series.
Book three in the Callaghan Green series did not disappoint. In fact, it may just be my favorite book so far! Maxwell and Victoria are both focused on furthering themselves professionally with very little time for the commitment involved with a real relationship. But what starts as a verbal sparring match over a lecture hall quickly escalates to a casual commitment that neither of them wants to quit. If Maxwell can overcome the trauma of his past, and Victoria can sort out her plans for the future, then these two might just have a love story for the ages.
The Callaghan Green series hooked me. I am like a kid on Christmas Eve waiting for Santa to show up. It wasn’t different with Max and Victoria’s story. I loved how they were with each other and how the mighty, untouchable Max was brought to his knees by a spitfire of a girl. Their story is told in such a way that it felt as if I was in it. I was spellbound from the first to the last word. Laughing, crying, shouting and just sighing because of all the twists and turns. A very good read and I am definitely looking forward to my next fix.
I am loving this series so much! Max and Victoria are fabulous! Victoria is my favorite kind of heroine. She is smart, sassy, and witty. Max is everything I was hoping for. He's sexy, protective and surprisingly heartwarming. I really liked the way the relationship developed between Max and Vic. They are the perfect fit for each other. Their chemistry was off the charts too! This author does families and banter so, so well! It is my favorite part of the book! I loved that we got to see some familiar faces while cheering on this new couple. I can't wait for the next book in this series!
I'm quickly coming to adore this series of books! Each one is better than the one before it. I loved Max and Victoria! They were great characters, and very different from the couples in the previous books-something of a feat to achieve, but somehow Annie manages to create very different voices for the characters.
I loved Max. He was so moody and yet there was definitely a vulnerability to him that made him a great character to read. Victoria was strong and a really likable heroine.
All in all, a great addition to this already great series. I can't wait to read what comes next.
This is the 3rd book in the Callaghan Green series & is just as great a story as the first two books. This one focuses on Max & Victoria & I just loved their witty comebacks & comments to each other. Both are passionate about their beliefs & fields (law & history) and sparks fly when they are talking, emailing & being together. I loved that Victoria is a feisty woman & refuses to just roll over when there was an issue at the university using a room both wanted, instead coming up with the plan to alternate weeks of using the room. It was fun to see the other people in Max's family as well.
