When her fiancé and bridesmaid hook up days before her wedding, Heather doesn’t think she’ll ever recover. Dating is a freak show, and her career as a lawyer in Manhattan is a wash. If it wasn’t for her best friend, Christy, Heather would write off relationships forever.

And when Christy sets Heather up on a date in a final effort to get her out of her slump, things go from bad to worse.

The guy Heather meets is hot, and his name is Blake, but that’s where his similarities to a book boyfriend end. Blake is odd, intense, and may just be out of his mind. He doesn’t want to date Heather. He insists he wants to have a child with her. And when Heather tries to ditch Blake, his cousin Max shows up, and he too is anything but normal.

Suddenly, Christy and Heather are pulled into the fantastical world Blake and Max come from where Weredragons and Orcs are not fiction, but reality. And Heather just may have found the life she’s meant for.

But will she be brave enough to take it?

De dragones y decepciones...

Max de Celeste Raye Serie Through The Portal libro 1

No tanto.

Heather and her best friend, Christy, were discussing Heather’s non-existent dating life. She knew the impulsive Christy was hatching up a plan that she was definitely not going to like! Ever since Heather’s fiancé ran off with a bridesmaid right before the wedding, Heather has been on an unlucky streak of really bad dates. Even her job as a Manhattan lawyer is not what she had hoped, with her boss being a sexist jerk who treats her like the secretary. So now Christy was helping her get ready for another date. Her clothes were horrible, so they dug through the closet. Her hair was in a scrunchie bun which Christy found disgusting. Even though this date was only for coffee, Heather needed to at least look good. But she refused to hand over the scrunchie.

The guy, Blake, was good-looking but there was something not quite right about him. He was clumsy and sort of “scattered” and not her type. He didn’t know how to count out money for the coffee, and he didn’t seem to know how to say things. She was ready to call it quits. But then he put on a genuine smile and apologized for messing this up. He said he hadn’t been with someone for a long time and didn’t know how to act. So she agreed – until he told her he wanted her to have his children! And the coffee was making him burp, smelling like burnt matches and a feeling of heat coming from him! Even Christy, who came to her rescue to get her out of there, commented on the smell!

The two women ran down the sidewalk. Heather slipped on her high-heeled boots and fell into garbage bags. She grabbed a leg off a broken chair as a weapon and turned to face the pursuing Blake when a black dragon landed in front of them!!! Heather fainted into Blake’s arms, her last thought being that this truly was the very worst of her bad dates!

As Heather awoke, chaos was all around. Christy threw a can at Blake and was pulling on his hair to let Heather go. Blake was telling another guy that he was taking Heather with him. And Max was ready to kill him for this! The portal was closing and they had no time to figure this out; so he used his magic and took them all with him. He refused to get stuck in the human world for eternity! His wings beat hard, lifting the struggling weight of the three of them, but he made it through the portal, even with one of the women biting his leg. He landed on his world and the women ran – until they reached the edge of a high cliff and had to stop. One threw a rock at his head, so he flew off and left Blake to deal with them himself.

I loved this book! It was hilarious from the start as the reader hears about the horrible dates poor Heather has had to endure. Nothing was going right in her life and, if she was ready for a change, this one was big enough to change her life’s direction! Her new world would include weredragons and Orcs – yes, they were real! And maybe she would find the happiness that seemed out of reach at home. This is definitely a fun read – don’t miss out! You’ll love it!

Heather's love life has been really been rotten. Her fiance hooked up with one of her bridesmaid just days before the wedding. Every date since then has been a disaster until Heather is ready to give up men. Her best friend, Christy won't let her give up and sends her out on a blind date with Blake. Blake is very odd and Heather wants to leave when Blake announces that her wants her to have his babies. Christy and Heather run from the restaurant with Blake on their tails. Blake catches up with them and tries to drag them away until their are rescued by a dragon.
Max and Blake are weredragons from another world. Max needs Blake to return with him before their portal closes stranding them on Earth. Blake won't let go of the women so Max drags Blake, Heather and Christy back to the weredragon world. Now Heather is torn between her old world and the feelings she is developing for the sexy dragon Max. Max is falling in love with Heather but he can't ask Heather to stay according to their world's rules.
This is a good book with great world building. I found Max to be a little clueless and a stickler for the rules. I really liked how quickly Heather adjusted to the new world. I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.

I love PN stories about Dragons! This one is AWESOME! Lots of ROMANCE, laughter, and fun! GET it TODAY!
So many rules! “MAX: Through the Portal,” the newest paranormal, Sci-fi novel by Celeste Raye is one of my all-time favorite dragon tales. It provides the easy-to-read prose typical of Celeste Raye’s novels and novellas. The characters are well-developed, even the ones that irritated this reader, and they are easy to love. The story starts out with the required Sci-fi kidnapping, but from there “MAX” goes its own way! The plot line was creative and refreshingly fun and funny. However, the ROMANCE was the best. Too few of the romance books out there today are heavy on lust with little real romance. “MAX” keeps the romance alive throughout the story, interrupted by hilarity and laughter that kept this reader glued to her Kindle most of this hot and humid day. I was given an ARC of “MAX: THROUGH THE PORTAL” to prepare this honest, voluntary review and am confident in giving it a 5-STAR recommendation. If you like sci-fi, romance or paranormal romance, then “MAX: THROUGH THE PORTAL” is the book for you. Get your copy today! Happy pages! 😉

I don’t think that I’ve laughed this much or this hard with a story and this is one read that I won’t forget in a long time. I love Celeste Raye’s books but this one is the best there is so much on offer with this book. I won’t be giving any spoilers because this book is just too good but if you want to know more then read Celeste’s blurb and that will give you the gist to this book. There’s fun, laughter, action, adventure and so much more to keep you entertained and turning the pages, so if your thinking about getting one of Celeste’s books then I definitely recommend this one it was such a pleasure to read. A 5 plus +++++ ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

This was another outstanding book. In it we get to meet some new characters and see what they have to overcome just to be together.  Heather and Max are the main persons of interest and we can't help but fall in love with them.  They show us that no matter what happens we just have to believe in ourselves and things will prevail in our favor.  I hope that your next book is with Blake. He definitely needs his own story. I'm going to recommend this one. I give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader's Copy.

Delightfully written plot and storyline with strong characters. Sexy dragons and sassy human women clash in this other world, when the two women are picked up against their will and flown through the portal. They find a castle full of dragons and a world with other magical creatures both good and evil. I enjoyed the book and look forward to finding out more about the Orks.

Oh my ! Celeste Raye has done it this time. A fantastic book, a fantastic story and it made me cry. The story was so real-like that there was several times that I teared up with the hopelessness of their situations. I felt so sorry for Blake because of having to be punished for something that his father did to save their people. Oops sorry for that little revelation, but when you read the story you'll feel the same. This is definitely a must have and must read.

First let me state, I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.

I truly enjoyed this story. This was a gr8 dragon story. Heather was so sweet yet firery. But I loved Christy just a bit more because she was strong and sassy. Max tried to be cold & distant, but that didn't quite work well for him. Blake is so funny, yet really freaky. Looking forward to the next storm. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up.

Dragons away!

Heather lets her best friend Christy talk her into a blind date with Blake. Big mistake! Blake comes off as egoistical, over the top have my babies male. Max flies in, literally, to help him and they end up in Dragon World. The ups and the downs, the heartfelt actions, the feelings are all so magical and real. I loved how things happened!

I am volunteering to leave a review of this ARC book. I really enjoyed this dragon romance. Heather needs help to get back into dating. Christy hooks her up through a dating app. Blake is a dragon from another realm looking for the mother of his child. Max has to rescue Blake, and takes Heather and Christy with him. Why, he saw Heather. You will love this romance!

Loved this book.

I loved max and heather and was glad to see them get their HEA. Max is a strong character who knows what he wants but it takes him a little while to pluck up the courage to go and get it. He got there in the end though.
I do reccomend this book for anybody who loves Aiken romance.

This was a cute read. Not really a lot happened through out the course of the plot but the romance was overall cute. I was hoping for more action. There was a great chance of it then it came to the “bad guys” of the story but the overall story lacked that Big Bang for me. I’m not sure if I will read more in the series or not but it was cute. 3 stars #2OCCJD

OMG that was pointless. Nothing happened! Okay, she met a guy on a date, ran from him cause he was creepy, was whisked to another world, met the guy’s friend, fell for him, then came home because of reasons, then wet back to him for love. The end. Yawn. And for such a short book, it was a slow read too. It had promise, and if you like fluff, it’s cute. But I need some meat to my stories.

This novel started off with me thinking 'oh yeah, a funny dragon story. Where have you been hiding?' Unfortunately, when the humour petered out of the story, it became a tad less interesting. The author's take on the creation of dragons was unique. Overall its appeal has won out because I do want to continue reading Through the Portal #2, Blake and Christy's story.

Cheers

Nicely Done

The story between Max and Heather was very sweet and romantic. It was well written and delightfully. I was a little disappointed with the characters of Blake and Christy, I guess I was waiting for them to be all over each other in the end. Fun reading though.

Heather lost her fiancee to her maid of honor the night before her wedding. Dating was definitely not working for her...then her best friend put her profile on a dating app and things really went haywire! Fun read!

Enjoyed the story. Wish it had been a little bit longer. There is more to the story but it doesn't fully wrap up in this book.
