The fiercest warriors emerge from the most brutal storms. Liz and Ryland Vaughn have fought hard to survive every threat that’s risen against them. But nothing they’ve faced compares to the battle to come. As they settle in to married life, all seems perfect and quiet. Too quiet. Being a warrior doesn’t allow for peace. Then one vicious moment throws their world into upheaval and rips their hearts to shreds. Wanting to get away from it all, they accept a mission to New Orleans to assist fellow warriors. Ryland hopes the time away will repair the rift between them, but the chasm only widens as they face an enemy so subtly horrific, they don’t even know they’re falling. As they descend into darkness, Liz’s past once again rears its ugly head. This time, it takes Ryland along for the ride. Can Liz and Ryland undo the damage to their marriage and hang on to their faith while completing their mission? Or will they fall to temptation and lose everything they’ve fought so hard for?
Amy doesn’t just write, she pours her guts on the page, honestly and brutally revealing herself in the process.
Nothing is off limits.
She faces the tough topics head on and doesn’t pull punches, confronting her own demons along the way.
Her favorite question is “what if?”, and she believes fiction can be truer than our sheltered and controlled realities.
She’s a lover of music, chocolate, MMA, the beach, and cherry vanilla Coke. Most days, it’s a shock the neighbors aren’t knocking on her door, telling her to turn the music down.
It is her firm belief that everyone should have a theme song.
Originally from Arkansas, Amy currently resides in Indiana. She longs for the day when she can return to her Southern home, and write her adventures of love and war on a back porch overlooking the hills she loves.
This book was intensely brutally for most of it. I don't mean that in a bad way because as it's been shown with Liz and Ry's story before, it's anything but easy.
Yet, I wasn't quite prepared for this new part of their journey.
Could have been my pregnant emotions, but their story really goes to what feels Hell and back. I really started to question if there could even be a light at the end of the tunnel! Thankfully, there is very much a beautiful light and it's powerful. Truly this title deeply reflects all that happens.
I felt this book was really Ry's story. Yes, it was Liz's too, but we see a whole new side of Ry that left me asking, "What is he doing?!" numerous times. I was beyond thankful for a turn-of-events (though not necessarily how it happened) because I felt I was even at a breaking point.
One powerful thing I took away from this book: You are truly never in the battle alone. Yes, you might have to fight personal demons one-on-one, but that doesn't mean you are forsaken by a loving God, family, or friends. There is ALWAYS someone helping you fight.
If you are looking for a deep read, I strongly recommend this one. Be prepared though: You are in for a whirlwind of a ride.
You guys, with this 3rd installment, Amy brought us in deeeeeeeeep!!!! :D Power couple Liz/Ry are back with a punch!!!! Their beginning at marital life will be "challenging''...not surprising seeing their ''duty''. ;p
Struggles after struggles, fight after fight, enemies after enemies.. Those two might finally have their happy ending... ;D
