After venturing into the underworld, I have some badass goddess powers. In fact, I used them to rid the earth of the angelic scourge. Only problem is, the gods I stole the magic from are kind of pissed. They keep trying to kill me when I summon their power. Worse, the angels are back on earth, harder to kill than ever.

When my lover Adonis is abducted by our enemy, I do whatever I can to get him back. But the angels have a new plan for us. They want me to kill my own boyfriend—since I’m the only one who can do it.

If we can’t defeat the new onslaught of angels, I face a fate worse than death—and the rest of the world is coming with me.

This is the final installment in this series and I have to say I have loved every book in it! This one was by far the best as you would expect and was a great finish to this story.

Ruby, Adonis and Kratos have teamed up to take on the Heavenly Host and the big bad, who was a bit of a surprise in who it was! Ruby now has the power to destroy the horsemen and other angels, but using these powers may just kill her and she's not ready to die yet! The Host have a huge army and it is going to take a huge army of demons to fight back against them, but Ruby and the two horsemen don't have one! So where will they find one?

I really enjoyed the build up of the relationship between Adonis and Ruby in this one. The plot was gripping and there were so many twists and turns that I just wasn't sure how it would pan out at all. I even started to like Kratos more in this book as well! He seemed a lot nicer once his curse had been lifted! It was also great to see what had become of one of the characters from the first book as well.

Thank you to both Christine and Nick for sending me an ARC copy of this book to review! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!

A perfect finale

I’ve come to expect great things from this author and I have never been let down. I have loved this series from the start and this ending was fantastic. The author did the series justice and I think everyone will love it! Ruby, Adonis and gang were awesome and we get some Rosalind and Caine!

The ending we were hoping for

Rosalind and Caine join Ruby and Adonis to defeat the Heavenly Host. What a great way to bring other characters into this book!

I want to re-read Liora’s story, since it’s been a while since I read it. In the end of this book, we meet baby Lions. This really nicely wraps up the stories.

I am curious where Tanit and Kur were for this story. Maybe I missed something, but they weren’t in the final battle scenes. I wanted to see them again, since they were supposedly such good friends with Adonis.

There are a few racy scenes, but like usual, this author keeps it more pg-13ish. You know the characters make love, but it’s not explicit and it’s very short.

Read this series all in one sitting, because it’s worth it. It’s nice to have read Rosalind’s story before this, because you see here after she meets Caine. Happy reading y’all!!

Annoying heroine

The story telling is great as always but I was a bit put off by the main character whom i found a bit juvenile and weak. She’s just too impulsive and seems undeserving of the immense power we are told she has, which we never actually see until the end.

Main Players - Ruby, a feral fae with the power of the Stones of Zohar that she can't competently utilize. The four horsemen of the apocalypse - Adonis/Death, Kratos/Conquest, Aereus/War and Johnny/Famine. Metatron,* the angel who created the horsemen.

From blurb: When my lover Adonis...
Recovered from Marcus’ death, did we?

Ruby not only hasn’t figured out how to use the stones but her initial barrier against the heavenly host has been compromised and she can’t seem to create a new one. In other words, the host are back on earth. Not only that but the most evilly** powerful one of them all, Metatron, has arrived and is making the host immortal, forming a celestial army to destroy the world.

Later, two other beings create another shield and when it starts to fail, Ruby now is able to repair it.

Since Metatron hates humans so much, why did he impregnate women to create the four horsemen? Also, how can they be archangels if they’re half human?

Ruby has an active fantasy life that seems to help her cope. It’s all BS, however, because Hazel doesn’t want to revert to living in a forest hunting for food and Adonis hates soup. He’s all in on the nudity aspect though.

Speaking of Hazel, her dragon sure isn’t recognized as an important player to this story. Not only that but couldn’t the other dragons have been recruited into fighting the angels since they really weren’t in cahoots?

Chapter 11 - I flicked my wrist, and Johnny’s head exploded in a mist of flesh and bone.
Chapter 17 - "The simple fact is, a war has erupted between the horsemen. Two of the horsemen are trying to end life on earth as we know it."

How can there still be two “bad” horsemen when Ruby had already killed Johnny? It would be proper to say two angels if you were including Metatron but he’s not a horseman.

It seems that Ruby learns how to wield her powers, at least enough to make positive contributions to the war effort. She just needed to embrace what she truly embodied. Savaging her mother still would have been a hard pill to swallow. Several references are made to the old gods yet only the one in the cave is ever actually revealed.

Vital Need to Know: Does Kratos ever get laid?

*Sounds like a Marvel comic character
**This is actually a word. Look it up. I was surprised too.

Flashback: Ruby, a feral fae, has found the power of the Old Gods and with it got rid of the angels... she then went to the underworld to get her Angel of Death, Adonis back, unknowingly releasing the other angels as well.

Fast forward a bit to present time... The enemy knows Ruby has the power to kill angels, and they're doing everything they can do get their hands on her, to break her mind and to get her to kill her lover. But while yes, Ruby has trouble summoning forth the power of the Old Gods without killing herself in the process, she is far from defenceless.

Then... it all gets a tad more dire, Metatron has come to Earth and he is pissed.
Our team only has a few days to come up with a plan, or well... it's the end not only for them but for the whole Earth.

My take on the book:

This is the last instalment... BOOOO!!!
Needless to say... I loved it :D

World-building was great. While we were in France and England most of the time and as such the environments weren't new, flawless and detailed descriptions of the scenes made it very immersive.

Character building was excellent! As we have already walked alongside Ruby, Adonis and the others, we know them quite well. It was nice getting the last few thoughts and insights from them. Ruby growing more towards her feral side, Adonis opening his heart further and further, ...
It was super cool that Caine and Rosalind showed up for the finale!

This instalment had it all: laughs, tears, action, drama, deceit, romance,...
Pacing and flow were great, it read so easily, you were there with our cast, trying to keep the Heavenly Host at bay.

The book itself was really well written, I found no (noticeable) errors. And yes, it contains sex (if that is important to you).

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and I'm actually pretty sad it's over :( I need more Ruby and Adonis and even Kratos! *sigh* I do truly hope we will see them again in another series, would be nice to know how everyone is doing.

Giving this 3 stars only because of the overall interesting concept of the book, and the action scenes were okay, but I STRUGGLED to get through this one. I was upset by the end of the second book (6th in the Shadow Fae series), and was hoping the authors would salvage things in the third book, but there were just so many issues wrong with it and things just kept getting worse for me.

The main issue I have with the last 3 books in this series, is the fact that Marcus and her trauma around his death is not even discussed with Adonis. It makes her whole moving on to a new romantic interest seem disingenuous especially since she thinks about how healthy and amazing her relationship was with Marcus. She even mentions how different Adonis is because of this, yet the minute he shows some slight emotion she’s all the sudden head over heels? The chemistry between Ruby and Adonis felt so rushed and inauthentic. Even their intimate scenes felt forced and just thrown in for the sake of it, not because it made sense for them.

There were also some plot holes or missed opportunities for the side characters.

Honestly the whole series could’ve been so much better if they didn’t rush things - it really felt like they were on a deadline for the book and just pushed it out with out much thought or consideration. Which is disappointing since the other books in the series (1 to 5) were so good!

I could really go on about the direction this book went and how they could’ve done better, so if you’re curious, just comment and ask, but I’ll wrap it up here.

This was an absolutely perfect end to the series! As usual, I cannot say enough good things about the writing of C.N. Crawford. This writing duo flawlessly creates a fantasy world that you just can't help but want to live in. I wish Ruby was my friend and I was surrounded by all these amazing characters. Each character brings something different to the table and makes you want a book about each person.

As usual, this C.N. Crawford book picks up right where the last one left off. Twists and turns make up the res of the story as it builds to the big showdown. Plus you get the growing romance between Adonis and Ruby added in there! The underlying story of hope and not letting destiny define you was truly powerful to me. In times of hardship, like what these characters face, it is easy to end up in a mindset where you give up and give in. This book shows that never giving up and fighting for what you care about can make you powerful. Bravo to this author duo for making a stellar finale to this already amazing series!!

A good ending to the series but the only reason I'm giving it four stars instead of five is that I didn't enjoy this book as much as I did the previous two in the series. I think that maybe I would've liked to see more of the relationship between Ruby and Adonis. Nevertheless, it did wrap up everything in the story which needed to be and we even got to see an appearance from two characters in another of this authors series. I like how the author does tie several of their book's series together. I'm still not a particular fan of Hazel, Rubys sister. If said in my review for the last book that I wasn't sure of we could trust her, she has stayed loyal but I really felt she was selfish when her sister was doing all she could to protect her. Overall this was a good read but not my favourite book of the series.

I really loved this series. There some disturbing death scenes in this trilogy that makes me wonder about the folks behind these characters. And there are some very interesting takes on the whole angelic realm, old golds, Lucifer, Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and a head angel named Metatron.

On the other end of the spectrum there's the love story between Ruby and Adonis, that was actually very sweet and funny. She destroys with violence, blood, dismembering, and even exploding angels to smithereens with her powers. He finds it disturbing and a bit admirable. But after she literally went into the underworld to bring him back from the dead, how could he not love her? Then of course they had to save the world in an epic battle against the heavenly host that was pretty graphic but somehow not disgusting. What's not to love?

I had waited with expectations from Christine on a satisfactory ending on a Wonderful Series, but this was a Non-Stop Freight Train without an Engineer....Full of Action, Excitement, out of control thrills as she led us through attacks from the Angel Hord, Rescues, learning curves of power, the joining of others from a different realm, and the buildup to a conclusion that I could have never imagined. Ruby brought together the Human Survivors, with the Horsemen, into a fighting force powerful enough to withstand the attacks from the Heavens, and she finally came to terms with her Stolen Power from the Old Gods. It's a book that I found hard to take a break from, "and my tired eyes are a testament to her talent in creating worlds you want to stay in." Thank You, CN for the ride!

OK . First off what a ride! This is by far one of my favorite series written by C.N Crawford! I have loved everything I've read of theirs so far. This is the final book in the Spy Among the Fallen series and it makes me so happy sad! It really ended off well. The twists! The romance! The action and the world building! the overall plot was well laid out! I really loved watching Ruby come into her own throughout the series. She faced so many obstacles and she would pick herself up and keep on going. She learned from all her experiences. I really liked that. Ruby and Adonis are now some of my favorite characters! I so enjoyed the fact that Caine and Rosalind (more faves!) made appearances in the book! I highly recommend this series!

Amazing finale!

It was a perilous journey but they finally made it! Ruby learns to wield her new powers while learning to embrace herself for what she is. Adonis is right by her side as they face a new enemy and try to figure out a way of stopping the angelic horde once and for all. Kratos shows another side no one's seen before and Johnny and Aerus are still jerks. There wasn't as much Hazel as I'd like but it's to be expected when you've got an older sister looking out for you. Old friends are reacquainted, new friends met, and a foe lurks underneath Ruby's nose. This was an exciting and thrilling conclusion and I'll miss Ruby and Adonis. Definitely worth the read if you're a fan of paranormal and fantasy with a dash of romance.

And that's how the prequel ends

I wish there would have been one more prequel, the time after the battle and the lives of Adonis and Ruby while she's pregnant and then leading up to Liora 's early childhood right before Ruadan came to Eden. There are some of those things mentioned at the end but it's all rushed and sporadic .

There were a lot of times when I kept getting an ACOTAR feel while reading this prequel. Dark brooding man with crazy dark powers and a strong female fea with conflicting emotions also battling strong powers.

The sexual building in these books is hot but the actual act is very lacking and seems like a side note. I wish there was more of that.

We are at the end of Ruby and Adonis’ wild ride. As with the other books, we are given great action, wonderful characters, and an intriguing plot. I have really enjoyed this series, and especially the romance. Ruby has really grown up from the first book. One thing I’ll mention is that when the spy is revealed, I really didn’t see it coming, and to be honest, I had a hard time seeing it. Not that it was terrible, but just the logistics would have been difficult (can’t say too much as I don’t want to spoil it!). If you loved the other two books, you will love this one! Recommend! I was provided a complimentary copy of the e-book which I reviewed voluntarily.

Absolutely loved this book. Received ARC and could not put it down. My heart was pumping all the way through. Ruby and Adonis are one of my favourite couples. So complex yet it still somehow works. It is pretty full on. Disappointed Ruby’s sister didn’t play more of a role but I’m guessing spin-off?? I felt tense in quite a few spots and was a bit exhausted because of the roller coaster of feelings while I was reading but it was fantastic. Am totally satisfied with the end. Thank you CN. Brilliant!

It’s over!!!

I can’t believe it’s over. I also can’t believe how much I missed Caine. Even though his appearance was short and we get to see some of what happened after Vampire Mage, it was still enjoyable.
Was a good read but I was disappointed that it ended. I had been anticipating four books like many of CN Crawford’s series but alas it ended with three books. In classic CN Crawford fashion book three held the part I was most excited; our main characters finial getting together. The epilogue was a nice touch but it left me wanting more.

Lovely ending to a perfect series.

I've loved every book written by the Crawford's and this one is no exception. Ruby is a bad ass who wants a simple life with the man she loves (SQUEAL!) but maybe it's not that easy. I've seen a few complaints that this series only includes three books as opposed to the usual four but I didn't miss a thing. It's a wonderfully rich story with great characters, a cameo appearance from a previous series, and a great concept perfectly fleshed out. Loved it!

And this is how you end an amazing story

I would recommend this trilogy to anyone who likes urban fantasy, a bit of romance mixed in with a twisty tale of fighting evil.
Again apart from the books being too short...😢😇💔 It was the perfect ending, although I would have loved to seen Adonis find out about the deathling. Instead of it just being there.
It is truly an honor to have read these and I have almost taken my phone on walks with my dogs, reading as we go. But decided to make it last longer and give the little ones time as well.
// Thanks again lady Crawford

Another winner for CN Crawford. From the first book that I read from these authors they made me fall in love and they haven't let me down ever since.

I'll make this short not to spoil anything.
Rogue Fae is a great ending to yet another top series for CN Crawford. The fact that we get to catch up with old but very much beloved characters only adds very much so to the amazingness that is CN Crawford.

If you haven't read this yet I don't know what you are waiting for you won't regret it.

Great end to a series

This was a great end to this series. I foind it very well written and the characters realistic even though they were angels, fae and demons. It was great to read about rosalind and caine again but they were not in the book as much as i had hoped for. The book ended too soon also but i still give it all of its stars as i woke up this morning and started reading it and finished the book 6 hours later.

I usually really enjoy the books by CN. Crawford but this set just didn't work for me. As usual, it was well written and you can tell the writer loves London, but I just did not like Ruby.

I've read all of the other series in this world, and.. This set felt rushed and confused. Like a, jumble of mythology that just didn't fit well together.

The romance had no tension to it at all, in my opinion, and just like the story felt rushed.

A Spy Among the Fallen Series - 3.75 stars
Rogue Fae - 3.5 stars

This was an okay but boring read personally. Ruby gaining the old gods powers just felt too convenient and easy for her to destroy everyone. Adoni's dad all of sudden becoming the main villian in this book and being easily detained was so boring.

This series as a whole but left off on a meh ending to an originally a good series for me.

Only 3 stars as I felt I'd missed reading a book as there seemed to be bits from somewhere else or another story. Who was Muriel? What happened to Tanint and Kur? Yasmin appeared back when she was missing in the previous book, and what was happening with Hazel?

The basis of the stories was good, but it all felt rushed and disjointed. Ruby and Adonis were great, but sorry, although I liked the ending, getting there wasn't great.

Took me forever to remember to read this!

Life and my overwhelming to be read horde distracted me from the series for way too long. I love the acceptance, the conclusion, all of it. It may be a war torn world that seems on its way towards an inevitable end and the future may seem like it only going to be slavery - but there is a light in the dark. Great conclusion to this smaller series and I look forward to reading more in the overall world.

Editor?

Its a bit amazing how many of us got through the book really. Let alone all the good reviews? Its incredible how horrible the structure is. There's barely a beginning middle and end, not to mention the other nuances of writing. The repetition of sentences, character development etc. The other books of theirs werent literary perfection but still enjoyable. What happened here?? Please edit before you upload a book. Its hours of someone's life you're taking.

“The stories we tell shape reality. We have to be careful with them. So let’s make sure this ends up being a story about victory, shall we?”

A great ending to this series that is packed with action! Love that we see Rosalind and Caine again, as well as finally see Ruby and Adonis get their HEA. Love that it shows how’s they’re a beautiful blend of opposites and that in the end she gets her fairytale cottage with her lover and baby. Can’t wait to read more books by these authors! 🖤

If you’re looking for some fast reads to catch up on your reading challenge, I definitely recommend this series as well as CN’s others.
They’re well written, a lot of romance & action. There’s humor throughout which I love.

I just personally prefer longer length books that dive into the plot deeper. This series felt more surface level, character focused rather than world building, character development, etc.

What a great series!

Despite the corny titles, the story was not. It's set in an apocalyptic Earth where angels want to destroy all humans, fae, and demons. It's frightening but also hopeful.

I believe this is a spin-off or continuation of The Shadow Fae series. I had hoped to see some of the characters from those books but there was only one person from the Institute in these books.

I love C.N. Crawford books.

I honestly think I finished this series out of spite for Amazon. Truly, the three books in this series were not good. Ruby is consistently hurdling herself towards danger when she’s barely taken the time to develop her magic or train. I’m all for moving the plot forward, but these three books in total felt rushed and unnecessary. Also, I read through a slow burn over three books for the saddest, quickest, and least fulfilling sex scene ever?! Would not recommend reading if you can help it.
