Honor comes in all sizes.

Shayna Morgan has been a little bit of everything in her life--a daughter, a niece, a sailor, an investigator, and homeless. Nerve damage has left her with only partial feeling on her right side, and pain threatened to cripple her. Family pulled her home from where she slept in her car outside of DC, but it was the men and women of the Brotherhood Protectors who inspired her and gave her a purpose. She may not be able to fire a gun with any accuracy, but her new project fulfills her in so many other ways--helping other female vets just like her. It's all hard, honest work and good sweat until a shadowy threat takes aim at her ranch.

Purpose comes in all shapes.

Fergus "Oddjob" Roper went into the Air Force at 18, before making a lateral move to the Navy, and then left the SEALs when he was 33. After 15 years of service, two wars, multiple deployments and 3 degrees, he's looking for his next mission. After a year in Texas working with a horse trainer specializing in equine support animals, he's heading to Montana to visit with old friends. He came for the beer, and stayed for the women...one woman in particular. Oddjob doesn't mind mucking stalls, or helping out on the project--but what he wants is to shield the woman who saved his life, even if she doesn't know it.

Danger doesn't always take a direct approach, but Oddjob plans to have Shayna's back as she gets ready to tangle with a whole new kind of enemy.

I love books. Not just a little bit, but a lot. Books were my best friends when I was growing up. Books didn’t care if I was new to a town or to a class. They were always there, my trustiest of companions. Until they turned on me and said I had to write them.

I can tell you that my own personal happily ever after included writing books. I’ve always said that an HEA is a work in progress. It’s true in my marriage, my friendships, and in my career. I am constantly nurturing my muse as we dive into new tales, new tropes, new characters and more.

After seventeen years back in Texas, we relocated to the Pacific Northwest in search of seasons, new experiences, and new geography. I can’t wait to discover what life (and my muse) have in store for me.

Maybe writing was always my destiny and romance my fate. After all, my grandmother wasn’t a fan of picture books and used to read me her Harlequin Romance novels.

Friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, friends to enemies to lovers, you name it, I love them and love to write them. I started with Earth Witches Aren’t Easy, the first in the Chance Monroe trilogy, but my characters and I have traveled a long way since I created that urban fantasy world.

One of the series I hear my readers recommend the most is the Untouchable series followed in quick succession by the Vandals, and that just delights me. No lie, whenever one of my readers brings up my wolves, I do a little a fist pump.

I’m active on social media, and I love hearing from readers. Feel free to tag me with a question about any of my books, or just say hi!

Shayna is a wounded marine who has suffered a lot and has some serious issues. With the help of her uncle she's not living in her car anymore. She's got a ranch to bring other female vets with problems and their families to recoup and rehabilitate. Oddjob is sent as her bodyguard and to find out what has been going on there. Some action but not a lot. Great story. My heart goes out to all miliarty who suffer PTSD and injuries from the war.

Although this book was also action packed, it had a different impact on me than the books I have read so far. This one included a broken female Veteran. Even though this is a fiction, it caused me to think about how all of our veterans are treated. I loved her strength and will to not only survive for herself but also keep going for other female veterans. This one made me think a LOT. Great read.

Action-packed, intense fast read.

Shayna and Oddjob and lifelike characters that you can't help but love. Shayna is good at giving but doesn't want to be seen as weak or needy. This story shows how some vets try to coop with regular living outside of being a soldier. How they can fall between the cracks and come home only to become homeless because they can't keep a job due to medical wounds, and PTSD. It also shows their determination to help others while working back towards normal as much as possible.

Shayna and Oddjob work together along with some of the Brotherhood Protectors characters to figure out who or what is causing a lot of problems around the ranch. I like that both characters are strong despite their weaknesses or because of them.

An enjoyable read that I highly recommend.

Shayna has a dream, a facility to help female Veterans make their way back to whatever their version of normal will be. Thanks to a generous benefactor she has the property and backing to make it a reality. As she works on the renovations to the ranch property, incidents have her seeking aid from Hank Patterson and his Brotherhood Protectors.

Fergus 'Oddjob' Roper is the man set to the job of protecting her, and he embraces the task by also helping with her horses. As they take a walking tour of the property things take off with a literal bang!

Gotta love those explosions, they bring people together pretty darn quick.

However, the puzzle only gets more complicated as clues to the identity of the culprit fail to show up.

I did a lot of chuckling over Oddjob liking MREs. Almost as much as Shayna.

Oddjob has another reason for being her protection, but he didn't plan on falling for her. His humor and straightforward attitude help Shayna with her own recovery.

I loved the slow build up of the relationship and the suspense surrounding the mysterious incidents.

Sexy, witty, and a twist I didn't see coming.

Ms. Long really likes writing in these "worlds" and it shows. Shayna is a Marine, medically discharged with serious wounds and a lot of trouble coping with the loss of her Marine life. She arrives in Montana to help create Celebrate, a place for female veterans to heal and restart their lives. When threats begin to occur, Oddjob, a SEAL from Flint and Cannon's team, arrives to guard Shayna. Little does she know that she was the sniper who had saved his life years before.

As their relationship deepens, she finds that he is the ideal partner for her life, for everything. She can lean on him and not be embarrassed by it. Finding the culprit takes a little help from Jocko and the SEAL team, as well as the Brotherhood Team, but they do.

Shayna Morgan has been beaten up by life time and again. She is back on her feet and fighting not only for herself but other female vets who’ve been knocked down and need a hand up. But someone doesn’t want her to succeed and former SEAL Fergus "Oddjob" Roper is there to help keep her safe and find out who is trying to shut her operation down.
I love Oddjob’s upbeat outlook on life and respect Shayna’s ability to take a licking and keep on ticking. Shayna’s story about tore my heart out but her strength demands you acknowledge and move on. I enjoyed the heck out of this story.

Shayna and Fergus

I had trouble taking the male lead seriously as his nickname is Oddjob (real name Fergus). Hard to imagine sexy time with Oddjob ... Fortunately he quickly shows his worth. I love that the heroine is a female Marine trying to find her to her new normal after the ravages of war. The motivation behind targeting her seems odd and disappointing though in the end she saves herself like the tough Marine she is. Weird names aside, sexy time with him does not disappoint.

Honest and real

This story played out until the very end. Full of action and mystery, it easily held my attention and kept me sucked in. As a military spouse, I loved how the author made veteran issues such an integral part of the stories, and didn’t downplay or even sensationalize them. It felt real and honest. There was a specific
line that really stuck with me: “I do t see a cripple, I see a veteran. Someone who is still paying the cost of saving lives and serving their country.”

Wonderful

This was a wonderful read! Shayna and Oddjob were a special couple. He sought her out and when the opportunity and need arose he was able to help her, help herself. What was most special about this read was the descriptions and handlings of female veterans. The issues and concerns of all veterans are handled with respect and the issues unique to female veterans are described with the utmost care. Great read.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ADVENTURE

An intense thriller. Shayna is a multi talented military soldier who was severely injured during her last tour overseas. She now is in charge of running a ranch with services being offered to female military personnel who have been injured and need a place to recover.

very enjoyable, you would think with all the BH protectors, they would have figured out not to leave her alone as they all go off to find the mine entrance. Yes she is a Badd A** Marine but she isn't in top form. Wish the book had been a bit more involved it seemed pretty boring with nothing really to hold it together.

Oorah!

This was excellently written. The characters were written to be as realistically as they can be. Some of the characters are old friends while others are new. Very little sexual content. A plot that is action packed from start to finish. A great book that once you start you won't want to stop until it's done, then you want more.

Loved Oddjob and Shayna! Well written and executed.

Dodson was recruited to be a bodyguard for her. She is still recovering from field injuries and developing a nonprofit organization for female veterans. They hadn't counted on falling in love.

Good read

Shauna met Oddjob when Hank Patterson sent her someone to help her with security. Strange things have been going on and they were worried about her getting hurt. Oddjob was watching over her when a cabin on the place exploded. Then he called in extra help.

I don't know how I feel about this book. While I like the writing style, it's too short, too concise, it's not even instant lust/love, it does not leave time for the characters to develop.
I just don't know.

Missing words. Grammar errors. Great story and would have been a 5 star....if only there was a proof reader. Or an editor

Shayna was injured in an accident. She is now trying to open a facility for women veterans. Oddjob is working for Hank. He is at Celebrate to find out who is trying to sabatoge the project. He has even called in some of his old teammates to help with surveillance.
Hopefully they find out who is behind the sabatoge before they have their first guests.
