This is a pen name for Jill Myles.

Jill Myles has been an incurable romantic since childhood. She reads all the 'naughty parts' of books first, looks for a dirty joke in just about everything, and thinks to this day that the Little House on the Prairie books should have been steamier.

After devouring hundreds of paperback romances, mythology books, and archaeological tomes, she decided to write a few books of her own - stories with a wild adventure, sharp banter, and lots of super-sexy situations. She prefers her heroes alpha and half-dressed, her heroines witty, and she loves nothing more than watching them overcome adversity to fall into bed together.

Some Spoilers

Wicked Games by Jessica Clare is such a cute read. It was set up like the game show Survivor with two teammates falling in love. I loved both Abby and Dean. I thought they had really good chemistry. I loved how they didn't like each other at first but it turned into a sweet friendship with respect and then love.

I know shows like that are suppose to be cut throat but, I didn't like the other female contestants. I thought they treated Abby like shit. I also really hated that it was the backstabbing, lying Bitch that won. I loved that Dean and Abby felt real. I felt bad for them having the show and others cause a huge misunderstanding that tore them apart, but I was glad they found their way back to each other in a very believable way. Dean was sweet and yummy the whole time. I loved the little ways he showed himself to be a great guy. Giving up his blanket, carrying Abby, making sure she had some sandwich when everyone else forgot her.

Abby was great. I loved that she reviewed books for a living....Dream job, but I also loved that she wasn't helpless. She was smart and worked hard. I wish the women would have not been as catty but the men on the "show" weren't too bad.

The book was a quick easy read that gave me all the feels. I really wish it had been longer. Loved it.

Firstly ignore the cover, it doesn’t do the book justice. Personally, I don’t vibe with a headless torso shot, it’s telling me nothing about the book. Despite this (possibly irrational) pet peeve, I really enjoyed this book !!

I have an unhealthily obsessed with reality TV, so when this was recommended to me I was already heavily invested.

The plot centred around a survival game show, Endurance Island. Think ‘The Island with Bear Grylls’, but with stupid, attractive people (or is that just what they want you to believe).

In comparison, the FMC describes herself as ‘more of a Mary-Ann than a Ginger’, which is apparently a Gilligans Island reference. Essentially, she is relatable and a plain Jane of sorts, in comparison to ‘Ginger’ (the other contestants), who are Hollywood wannabes and maintain the perfect image.

Despite the ‘normal’ persona, the FMC has some bite. She can be pretty standoff and argumentive, but this was mostly in response to her treatment on the island and the ‘enemies to lovers’ dynamic that was playing out with the MMC. I was slightly worried about how much I would like this character after her initial frustrated outbursts, but she grows on you.

This was a Single (FMC) POV, but you do get the MMC’s confessional statements at the start of each chapter. These gave you little insights into his thoughts and feelings. Honestly, I really liked the way this was done. It meant you got a small part of Dean's perspective, as you never knew what he was really thinking. Remember there are two sides to every story though.

I think the book was an amazing mix of betrayals, hidden confessions and unlikely alliances. I honestly didn’t know what to believe a lot of the time and when seeds of doubt were presented, I was ready to ride at dawn. Even the cheesy bits made me smile, which was surprising because usually anything Hallmark-esque makes me nauseous 😅

My only point would be that the epilogue was veryyyyy short, but I am a girl that requires a long epilogue. Otherwise, I thought the book was the mood read that I needed.

(Sidenote: This is for anyone who is equally confused in later chapters. The FMC is described as ‘chugging’ Pepto, which I assumed was a soft drink or alcohol… yeah it isn’t. I googled it and it’s liquid medicine stuff, which looks like it would glow in the dark. The more you know 🤷🏻‍♀️)

BLURB:
Abby Lewis never pictured herself on the survival game show, Endurance Island. She’s just not the ‘survival’ type. But when her boss offers her a spot on the show and the opportunity of a lifetime, she packs her bags and heads to the tropics to be a contestant. Once in the game, though, it’s clear that Abby’s in over her head.

No one’s more competitive than sexy, delicious – and arrogant – Dean Woodall. Sure, he’s clever, strong, good at challenges, and has a body that makes her mouth water. He also hates Abby just as much as she hates him. That’s fine with her; she’ll just ignore the jerk.

But the rules of Endurance Island are working against them. Abby and Dean are teamed up – alone – on the beach. It’s either work together, or go home. Stuck with no one’s company but their own, they learn they might just make a good team after all.

And Abby learns that with just a little bit of kindling, the flames of hate can quickly turn to flames of passion…

This book features enemies, lovers, enemies who become lovers, and lots and lots of tropical heat…

A short read, won't give you a time to take a breather and I loved it for that factor.
I`d be lying my A* out if I say that Dean didn't affected me the way he does Abby ;)

Dean Woodall
Handsome, Attractive, Tall, High Cheekbones, Sexiest Cocky Grin ,Muscular, Tanned with dark hair, Pale eyes, Swimmer, Olympic Gold Medalist.

Abigail
Cute, Brunette, Reasonably Attractive, Happens to have one hell`ya Smart Mouth, In Short Dean explained her personality pretty much in just one simple line "Abby is a really cute girl. More of a Mary Ann than a Ginger, but I’ve always had a thing for Mary Ann."
description

I really enjoyed Wicked Games.
There are some very amusing moments when Abby is first dropped off at the island. Abby isn’t as pretty or as athletic as many of the other women, so she isn’t picked until last – and the uber sexy Dean is stuck with her. She is physically a bit more awkward than the other contestants but she has a good mind, something Dean learns quick. But at first they don’t get along and their first challenge together becomes very humorous.

As her and Dean spend more time together, they both start to feel an attraction. But both of them are nervous to make a first move. Plus being covered in sand, bug bites, and no shower for days doesn’t always lead to the most romantic of times. Of course they do share a blanket in a very small shelter…...
*coughs.. spooning.... coughs....*

AND THAT CABIN THEY`D SHARED FOR REWARD!!!

have you forgot about being on a reality SHOW???

well, that can happen to anyone if they`er like Abby and Dean and just can't keep their hands off of eachother.

Thank you so much, Sarah, for recommending this to me. This book was an absolute winner.

Fun, sexy and romantic, with a delicious alpha hero and a strong, funny heroine. I loved the survival aspects as much as I did the romance, the banter and the Reality TV show elements.
This is a quick and entertaining read that managed to pull me out of yet another epic book funk.

I'm a bit surprised with how much I liked this book, but from early on it sucked me in. It's the book version of Survivor and as with reality TV programs, they work better if there's a bit of love/lust thrown into the mix.

The love/hate relationship Abby and Dean started with was a little over the top to start with but so funny. I liked her right from the start; she didn't care what anyone else thought of her, she just went for it and the pair of them worked really well together. Add into that all the sexual tension and the little snippets you get from Dean at the beginning of each chapter - it just all worked for me.

Even that bit of drama towards the end, I didn't mind. Loved it

LOVED IT!!!

I kinda like read new books nowadays, but then I was looking for something interesting to read last night, and this book caught my attention. Well, maybe the cover, because I had the old version where the cover was the same couple on Obsidian's.

And so I read it, and I can't put it down! Wow, it was such a FUN read!!! It feels like I'm watching survivor. I love Abby and Dean!!! Especially Abby 'cause she's feisty! And I love it that somewhat, the readers also get to read Dean's POVs through his interviews.

Overall, this was a cute, sweet, fun, sexy, and romantic read ;)

Characters
Dean (28, Olympic medalist in swimming)
Abby (26, writes book reviews for MediaWeek magazine)

The Story:
Abby’s boss tells her she has to take part in an adventure reality TV show.
”Here’s the deal, Abigail,” Jeannie said in a blunt voice. “You go out there and join their little game show and don’t tell anyone about the deal. You’ll meet up with production assistants—that will allow you to record a video diary every day, exclusive for MediaWeek’s usage. You stay until you’re voted out, and when you come back, you do the press tour like a good girl, write your articles that give us an exclusive inside look, and then you write your book. It gives MediaWeek a nice bit of leverage and free advertising, and Matlock’s show gets a boost as well. That’s how the parent company wants it. Do you understand?”

My Thoughts:
The concept of this book isn’t unusual because there are shows like this on TV now. So reading this book felt a little bit like watching a rerun.

Abby is paired with Dean and they must work together to find food and shelter. There are a few game challenges where they must compete against the other teams for “luxury” items (blankets, food, bug repellent, etc).

From the way her boss forced her to go on the show I thought there would end up being some big explosive reveal at the end. She couldn’t tell anyone she was undercover, she would meet with production assistants to record a daily video diary, she would provide that exclusive inside look, yada, yada, yada. So what came of that? A big fat nothing. Wah wah 😏. Not once did you read about her “video diary” and she didn’t come up with any huge “secrets” or “dirt” by being undercover. Again....wah, wah.

Overall, this is a pretty short book that moves along well. However, because it’s only told from Abby’s POV, character depth is extremely lacking for the hero (well, honestly for both of them). Abby irritated me at the end when she got jealous and went on her little tirade and I felt she needed to do a lot more before Dean just took her back. The heroine definitely lost points towards the end. When I closed the book I was a bit ticked off that she didn’t have to grovel more.

The book was quick, but no depth so it wouldn’t be high on my recommend list.

Quotes
“The ex-military woman—Ginger—made a noise of disbelief in her throat, and I had to concur. Who would have thought that the girl with big plastic hooters and a Southern accent would get picked over a gymnast and a stunt double in a survival competition?”

“And what are we going to boil it with?” he asked, taking the bucket back from me.
“Our hands? Magic?”
“How about that nasty temper of yours?” I snapped back. “It seems to be boiling over a lot lately.”

“I supposed I could drag a palm leaf over my head if it rained, but if anything tried to attack? I was pretty much laid out to snack on, a human pu pu platter.”

“I don’t hate you,” I protested. “But you didn’t exactly endear yourself to me when you stepped on me to swim your way to shore and win, you know.”
“Was that you?” He grinned widely. “Oops.”

“I’ve been crazy about you ever since we got here and you glared at me like I was dirt.”

HILARIOUS!

I picked up Wicked Games as more of a joke book. I needed something to fill some time and I really didn’t care what it was.

With that said, the first 35% of this book had me laughing so hard, that the people around me became annoyed. Bully for them!

There will be several highlights from the book in this review. All worthy, I assure you

This is an erotica / romance book that has plowed head first into a series of Survivor. Now, I’m not a big fan of that show. I don’t like politics. I don’t like manipulation. I just don’t like any of it. So, when I realized what this book was going to be about, I totally frowned. If I open a book, I must finish. So I’m frowning and whining to myself, when I find myself laughing hysterically.

I have read a lot of books (Shocker, right?), this one took my by surprise. I expected dirty, sandy sex. I expected anger and resentment. I expected the politics and manipulation. What I didn’t expect, was the comedy.

Anger, lust, romance, deception, sex .. All wrapped into one beautifully packaged story.

Dean:

You know, it’s funny. All the other girls on the island look like they’d love to spend a few days alone with me. Abby looks at me as if she’d like to take my axe and gut me like a fish. Weirdest chick I’ve ever met. Decent swimmer, though. Let’s hope she doesn’t totally blow it during the challenges. — Dean Woodall, Day 2.

One of the first challenges between the teams (Teams made up of two), was for Abby and Dean to work together to paint some flags. One person blind folded. The other instructing. That went over real well. Heh not. Take a few days of frustrating scowling and toss them into a clueless leading the blind challenge. What do you get? Tears of laughter!

“I can’t draw if you don’t tell me–”

“ABBY, DRAW,” Dean shouted, blasting my ears. “PICK RED AND DRAW. QUIT ASKING SO MANY QUESTIONS AND JUST DRAW.”

I threw down my brush, grabbed the closest pot of paint, and lobbed it over the table at my partner. I didn’t hear it connect, so I grabbed the next one, and the next one, and heard the satisfying thwacks as they hit Dean (I hoped).

I ripped off my blindfold and glared at my partner. Mister Perfect Jock was covered in yellow and red paint – quickly dripping to orange. A streak of blue covered half the table and our flag looked as if the paint had thrown up on it. He was glaring at me with utter disgust.

“If you yell at me again,” I screamed back, “I’m going to shove that fucking brush down your throat. Understand?” (Abby)

I have some other highlights, but they fall a little too much into the spoiler category! So not happening.

I love this book. I do. I recommend this book to ADULTS ONLY. There is little to no violence (With few lovely paint scenes heh). The sexual content is tasty moderate.

I have a “Line of the Book” highlighted, but I don’t want to post it. It’s beautiful and totally rocking awesome! It is a spoiler and I just can’t do that to you.

~Happy reading!

"It's my goal to hook up with a girl partner," he told the camera with a laughing grin. "Preferably someone cute, but that doesn't matter. I need her to trust me, and when I've got her wrapped around my finger, I'm golden. And when she's no longer any use to me? Done. Finito. It's all about me in this game...but of course, the girls don't have to know that." --Dean's pregame interview that eventually causes a big riff between him and Abby... oh the angst!

4.5 stars!

I just adored everything about this novel: the Survivor-esque setting, Dean (yum!), Abby (hilarious!), the secrecy, the challenges, the steamy scenes, the misunderstandings, the nasty breakup (I have a slight fascination with breakup scenes...), the backstabbing, the scheming, the angsty drama, and the lovely reunion. It's perfectly delightful. I am an avid watcher of competitive reality shows such as Survivor and Amazing Race, so combining these loves with steamy and addicting novels is just a wonderful mixture of suspense, adventure, romance, and laughs for me. This book sorta acted as a behind-the-scenes glimpse of Survivor and also made me reconsider my desire to be on the show...but not completely! I am super stoked to continue this series and definitely recommend starting this one.

Tropes: hate-to-love-you, competition reality setting, snarky heroine, cocky hero, forced proximity, misunderstanding, STEAMY🔥

My Dean Woodall, a cocky, gorgeous, and competitive Olympic swimmer who loves peanut butter ;)

Definitely good for romance.

I enjoyed the initial “don’t like each other” parts. And I really liked seeing them together. Yes this has the formulaic big misunderstanding/separation. But that was ok. It’s hard for authors to come up with ways to separate the couple. This story was different in that they were on a game show and at times the producers of the show would not let people talk to each other.

I’m not a fan of first person books, but this one was good. It was told from Abby’s point of view. But at the beginning of most chapters there were a couple of sentences showing Dean’s thoughts. I liked that. It gave us a little insight into his thinking. But it didn’t have the jarring effect of entire chapters in a different POV and the reader has to remember who is talking, who is “I.”

DATA:
Narrative mode: 1st person Abby with chapter introductions 1st person Dean. Story length: 172 pages. Swearing language: strong, including religious swear words but not often used. Sexual language: strong. Number of sex scenes: about 4. Setting: current day mostly on an island. Copyright: 2011. Genre: contemporary romance.

Wild Games - In einer heißen Nacht
von Jessica Clare
Erscheinungstermin: 29.06.2018
Cover:

Never having enjoyed 'Survivor'-type reality TV, I was surprised to find that I really liked this little story about two rival (and antagonistic) contestants paired up on Survivor"Endurance Island". The book is written from heroine Abby's POV, although we are treated to brief glimpses of Dean's perspective from his personal diary at the beginning of most chapters.

While "stranded" in the Cook Islands, all contestants are boy-girl partnered initially and Dean and Abby - after a rocky first encounter - get stuck with one another. At first they seem like quite an unlikely pair (to everyone!) - Dean is the hottest, most athletic guy on the Island, and Abby is bookish, not overly athletic or "hot" (although she is "reasonably attractive"). After several confrontations, however, they do learn to rely on one another whilst playing "the game" (alliances, keeping up appearances, etc) and... of course fall in love. Wicked Games pretty much unfolds as you expect it will, but this also makes the romance more realistic and I wouldn't have enjoyed it any other way. All's fair in love and war!

This review may contain SPOILERS!
I already finished this book last week, but I read this in a read-along, were the organizers provided me with a copy and I had to follow the rules. Anyways, this was a nice and easy read for the summer but it did not have any depth which is why I could not give it any more than three-and-a-half stars. The main characters Abby and Dean were friendly and quick-witted people who had a lot of chemistry from the start on, and I must admit I loved the first 2/3's of the book, but the ending was just a bunch of stereotypical events bunched up to satisfy the readers and give the protagonists a "happily-ever-after". Also a lot of the suspense that the book created was resolved in a pretty standard way, meaning when things happened the solution was lacking creativity and the element of suprise, such as when Lana was the bad guy, just for the sake of the competition. Yeah, I thought there was more to it. All in all, it was a good book, but without any extraordinary content.

This must be confession week. First, I readily admit to hating weddings. Second, I confess that I have never, ever, in all of my days, watched Survivor. It seems dumb, dorky, and totally contrived. I bought Wicked Games on a Twitter recommendation, and when I realized it was a Survivor-type contemporary romance, got pissed off. Well.....in a moment of boredom, I decided to give it a go. And I loved it, in spite of its reality-television-based premise. I am quickly becoming a Jill Myles fan. This was a fun, quick read, filled with sexy island time and a totally satisfying romantic ending. I still have no interest in watching Survivor, but this book was probably way more entertaining. I think I will try one of Ms. Myles' paranormal romances next....maybe Gentlemen Prefer Succubi?

"Welcome to Endurance Island! We are here in the famous Cook Islands, home to piracy and private, sandy beaches. This will be your home for the next six weeks, provided you can withstand all the challenges that Endurance Island has in store for you!"

So, I'm going to make this short and sweet, lol. This was a very unexpected read. I grabbed it up as a freebie and one night needed something to read quick before my next buddy read started the next day. It reads really fast but kept me hanging on every word.

Abby was placed into a reality show she didn't want to be in with a partner she didn't want to be with on Endurance Island. At first everything is awful, as I mentioned her partner, the island, the lack of EVERYTHING, all the people on the island with her...EVERYTHING. Then when Abby and Dean realize they have to work together in order to get anywhere, things starting changing immediately.

It's only 100 pages so you know I can't spill more than that or I'd ruin it, but let's just say enemies turn into partners, turn into friends, turn into lovers, one big misunderstanding and then.... I'll leave the rest for you to figure out. :)

4.5 stars. I liked this!! Liked it MUCH more than expected. A fun read, and an interesting tale about the intense competition seen in a reality TV show based on surviving on an island. It's fairly erotic, but towards the end it gets poignant, too.
