The X-Files meets X-Men in this digital original companion series that's set in the world of Pittacus Lore’s #1 New York Times bestselling I Am Number Four series and its spin-off series, the Lorien Legacies Reborn.
This is the fifth 100-page novella, continuing the exhilarating story of fan favorite characters Six and Sam. The two Garde must escape the clutches of an old enemy they thought had been defeated long ago.
Contrary to what the government would have the world believe, not all of the Mogadorians are safely imprisoned. A small contingent of the alien invaders has been in hiding, working on a vicious plan for revenge and foiling Six and Sam’s every move. Even the couple’s failed attempt to rescue Ghost was nothing but a trap, and now they’ve been abducted by their old foes.
Held captive in an impenetrable underground bunker, they’ll have to find each other and then somehow find a way out if they’re going to have any hope of survival. But with their Legacies still on the fritz and Mogs out for blood it may be nearly impossible. Luckily, Six and Sam have more than a few allies with powers of their own who can help…if they’re not too late.
“Once again, she felt like a character in a fairy tale, an ordinary girl sent on a trial against overwhelming odds.”
It feels so refreshing and comfortable to return to this world that I hold so dearly close to my heart. It makes for a really pleasant change of peace and a nice break.
Leaving that behind let me just say that this little story is intense. I knew things couldn't get righted just yet, I mean, we still have at least one more short story, but I was hoping for something that resembled more a conclusion and solution than this.
Instead, I got a lot of alarming things going on and the stakes getting raised even more.
The story is still a bit predictable, though I have to admit that I have few predictions as to what will happen in Killing Giants and who'll live and who'll die. Which is exciting.
“Nine held up his hand and wiggled his fingers. ‘I am a weapon,’ he said.”
Can I love Nine more than I already do? Apparently, yes. His contributions are always so sassy and now that he's more grown up and responsible is even more fun to see him.
I'll continue to love the fact that he's still around and be forever grateful for that. I truly hope they never stop giving me more Nine content.
“‘Hey,’ said Nine. ‘What fun would it be if we knew everything?’”
I just realized that the names that the characters have as of lately are kinda silly and, well, not real names, at least in these short stories.
I'm not sure how I like that. I mean, I suppose is fun and all but... I don't know, I just don't how I feel about that. ______________________________

This has over 100 pages and is considered a side-along novel? Why?
I mean, yeah, is still shorter than your average book but a bit on the longish side for a complimentary book.
Anyway, I'm ready to get back to this world that has been accompanying me for so long and see more of my precious Sam and Six, even though at this point I don't remember exactly what was going on the last time we saw them.
Besides some annoying continuity inconsistencies between the last book and the very beginning of this one (come on editors!!!!) the danger just got deeper and action ratcheted up, and I’ll be interested to see how they wrap up this novella mini-series.
It feels like every book of this series has the exact same storyline. Sam and Six try to rescue some kids, they get caught, the kids save them, the kids get caught and Nine comes to the rescue. It is quite impressive that Sam and Six are still not dead by now to be honest.
What really threw me off though is one big inconsistency in this book. It starts with Nemo calling Nine on a phone number he supposedly gave her for any emergency while she specifically mentioned in the previous book that Nine would have never given her his number and therefore had no way to reach out to the HGA or Nine when she was at the gas station. It feels like this book was written by someone who didn't read the previous one.
The more this series goes on, the less it makes. Even the characters themselves finally admit that their situation doesn't make any sense. Let's hope the next book will shine some light on this plot. And let's hope it brings some character development with it.

This was an intense novella. Six and Sam realize they have something inside them that may kill, but between fighting the Mogs, the bad kids, and trying to help others and each other, it leaves them little time to figure it out and makes them weaker. The Mogs really are cowards. Too chicken to fight Six and Sam when they are strong, instead drugging, blackmailing, and experimenting on them to keep them in line. Love how Max and Nemo really try to help and make a new group of friends, with a little help from Nine, who brings both action and much needed comedy into the scene haha Great ending! Looking forward to the last installment 😍
3.5 E tudo deu errado? bem quase...
Nine was the best in this whole book eventhough he was only in like 1/18th of it. Still wanna see Ghost die and also Freakshow should definitely experience her own legacy. Hoping the last book has some good news about that 😏
Hating on the humans who are helping the Mogs more than the actual Mogs themselves.
I really do adore these little side stories. I especially appreciate that this collection is all one continuing story, versus the last collection of asides that was a mix of different backstories and characters.

Ignorant enough to have alien races and superpowers, now we need lab built monsters? I can not keep up with everything happening in these boos anymore.
