Hunting ghouls bites.

Literally, as Lazarus found out on his last job. Now, to keep from turning into a ghoul himself, he has no choice but to wait in Faerie while his friends work on a cure. Lucky for Laz, he's got friends in high places inside the Summer Court.

Laz is barely settled in when he's caught up in an assassination plot against the Summer Princess, who just happens to be his ex-girlfriend. With the Summer Knight injured, who better to step in and take his place protecting the royal family than Lazarus himself?

In a land with no death, however, the Pale Horseman finds himself at an extreme disadvantage. With his powers limited, and the clock ticking as the ghoul virus ravages his body, Laz had better find the assassins and cure himself fast, or he's dead meat.

Fans of The Dresden Files and Iron Druid will fall in love with this surly wizard with a heart of gold.

Knight Shift by E.A. Copen and narrated by Travis Baldree takes the reader on a wild ride to Fairy where Laz is trying to find a cure for his ghoul bite. His ex is there and pregnant with their child, awkward! Someone is trying to kill the baby because it is not full fae! Great mystery along with all the great fantasy, wit, clever dialogue, and action. Loved this story!
Travis Baldree is always excellent in performing all the various voices and emotions that make these books really come alive!

Knight Shift - a review by Rosemary Kenny

While at the Summer Court, Lazarus is able to save his ex-girlfriend, the Summer Princess, from an assassination attempt, during which he's infected by a ghoul virus and the Summer Knight is injured, [at the start of E.A Copen's exciting urban fantasy romance, that's number 4 in the excellent Lazarus Codex series], Knight Shift - which refers to the 'shift' Lazarus takes on while the injured Summer Knight recovers from his injuries. As he remains in Faerie (Land), while his friends try to find a cure for the deadly virus, Lazarus decides to become more proactive on his own behalf and, dodging the political machinations of the Court, starts a quest to hunt the assassins and force them to give him the virus' antidote before it's too late and he becomes a ghoul!

An intriguing and satisfactory fourth Novel in E.A Copen's Lazarus series, (with a 5th to come later in 2018), Knight Shift will entertain and enthral the fan of paranormal fantasy romance adventures.
Why not buy the first three books too and guarantee your fantasy reading pleasure all Summer?

This series is not pulling any punches. and continues to hit hard, at least with what is affecting the main character. I'm trying not to draw any overly overt comparisons to another famous wizard book series, but it's getting increasingly difficult. The plot kicked off immediately after the previous book, which was good for my heart rate, and the plot twists kept coming. The climax was a little rushed, turned up too late and was over too quickly. The resolution failed to answer any meaningful questions, so I'm hopeful the next in the series at least does that.

E.A. Copen has another exceptional addition to The Lazarus Codex series. I love the unique storyline and the fantastic characters. She has done an excellent piece of writing with this series. Laz has his usual wisecracks and attitude while navigating Summer Court politics, impending fatherhood, and a ghoul virus which he must solve. I was invested in the story from page one. It is a real page turner with lots of action, humor, and even has a cowardly dragon. Knight Shift is a book you do not want to miss, in fact so are the first three in the series. I would recommend starting with book 1, Death Rites, then onto Organ Grind, then to Shallow Grave before taking on this book. I thoroughly enjoyed/loved this adventure and anxiously looking forward to the next book in the series. Received a copy and this is my voluntary and honest review.

We know from Shallow Grave that Lazarus has been infected by a ghoul which means he will turn into one unless a cure is found to save him. So Morningstar has sent him off to faire to slow down the spread of the disease because time passes differently in faire.
Now in faire is Odette who is pregnant with his child. And so the fun begins as someone is trying to kill her and his child. You have a mystery with lots of action and bits of humor.
Lazarus is on the fence about being a dad but so much is happening time will tell. A war breaks out and Lazarus as the Summer Knight must fight. With all the twists to the plot we must not forget he is being helped by Declan and a dryad and soldiers to save Summer and others.
This is an excellent book and series which I am throughly enjoying and I recommend it to you! I give the book five stars but I give the series a 10!

OH MY GOOSE IS LOOSE!!!
Man, are you ready for a wild ride? Bring it on. This is one amazing tale that hooks you from the start and reels you in for the duration. The characters are realistic and intriguing. Their personalities play off one another perfectly. The scenes are so graphically detailed it gives the illusion of being life like. Twists and turns abound with unexpected surprises that turns up the heat as well as the suspense. Copen did a remarkable job bringing this read to life. Fantastic job Copen, thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.

If getting into and out of trouble, shifting through magical job titles, and stumbling around trying to make sense of it all and save the day was an Olympic sport, Lazarus would be a 4-time gold medalist. He brings a very human, smart-aleck aspect to the story and it’s twisty plot. I am definitely a fan of this series.

Good story and I'm ready for#5

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this book. Even the sad events were sadly reasonable and made sense and the humor was a welcome break. How death came to Summer was a surprise and made sense. My husband is also reading the series and is enjoying it.

Will Lazarus be the death of Faerie?

Although he's suffering from a ghoul bite, Lazarus knows he must find a way to protect his former lover and their unborn child. Then he has another ex show up and he's over his head with mystery, mayhem and murder. Great read with lights of action and suspense!

Lazarus is back and this time he is in Faerie, which he takes on with his usual wit and lack of awe. Things get even more challenging as he finds his ex is a fairy princess, however. The world he lives in gets better and better and more rich as we learn about more parts of it and I can't wait to see what happens next.

I LOVED this book - I've enjoyed each book of this series more & more. It's funny & suspenseful & a little sad & a little scary. Travis' narration is fantastic for the audio & I really, really, REALLY hope that the rest of the series is released on audio with him narrating.

A thoroughly enjoyable book and series! Poor Laz, though...
Well written, with just the right amount of humour and plenty of heart wrenching sadness. Can’t wait for the next one!
