When I Forgot To Sleep

Rate this book
When I Forgot To Sleep is the debut poetry collection by Susan Llewelyn. The book is an autobiographical reflection that explores the psychological impact of the growing modern disorder of chronic insomnia compacted into the timeline of a single year. “Are these dreams or conscious thoughts? Is this daylight I see or the hollow night? Am I asleep or I cannot tell the difference.” Lack of sleep proves to be crippling but also a surprising catalyst for change. Understanding the relationship of the past to the present, love and loss and a mind and body in free fall, demands time be taken to dream and contemplate which ultimately leads to a positive awakening. Susan is from Melbourne, Australia and is the founder and editor in chief of the global Instagram poetry platform, By Me Poetry.

An engaging chronicle of the author's life.

It's a passionate personal life journey detailing the life of a strong woman. The author meticulously took us through her ups and downs through her life in the eyes of a kid, then as a married woman and later as a mother. Sue's writing keeping us
from putting down her book as we shared her trauma from being abused as a kid and the loss of her family farm. We shared her joy in finding happiness with her own family, her lovely husband and adorable children. Our heart goes out to the author for her struggles with sleep. The author masterfully delivered a touching story of her life and how she carries it through with the aplomb of a strong woman; is something we all can learn from and admire.
