This is a hard one to review as I’ve not read it, however I have just finished “ Hell Hole “ by the same author but it is not listed with Goodreads, so I am using her 1st novel to write a review on her 7 th novel.
Hence start and finish date do not exactly tally.
Firstly DWB is a self published author who I came across whilst on holiday promoting her books at a craft fair. I’m a sucker for authors with the guts to self publish, this novel is sapisedly based on a tale someone told her about , I’m also a sucker for true stories written as non fiction based on true events.
It’s about 15 year old girl being groomed, falling pregnant in the 1950s and being sent to a mother and baby home( badly run , hence the name),baby given up for costly adoption, never to be seen again. But you can clearly read that he is seen again and all characters land up living happily ever after.
The writing to me feels very amateurish in its simplicity.
Would I read this again…. No
Would I recommend it…No
A 🌟rating , only because I admire self publishers for their commitment

The punctuation in this book is shocking. This lady has obviously not had her work checked and is unable to use punctuation correctly. She puts commas where there should be a full stop and has no idea how to use commas to form a clause within a sentence. There is also a spelling error on the first page! Because of this I was unable to continue reading beyond the 2nd chapter. The content of the story was also very weak and child like. In fact, as a Teaching Assistant, I have seen much better work from 9 year olds. I met the author in person when I bought this book from her and she is such a lovely lady, but someone needs to support her with her work, if she wishes to continue, because, frankly, this work is embarrassing. I may even use it with my pupils to see if they can find the errors and suggest improvements.

I bought this book from the author at Alnwick market. She was lovely so it pains me to leave a 1 star review. I only got about 40 pages in before I gave up. The spelling and punctuation errors show that there has been
very little proofreading The main issue for me was that there were no real conversations between characters so that you could get to know them and therefore care about them. I think it is important for authors to SHOW the reader someone's character through actions and words rather than just TELL the reader that person is good or bad. This was the author's first book. Perhaps the later ones are better but I don't think I'll be risking it.

The ending is too strong even whether this book is based on the truth and detail best the storyline, something on the other hand the author must attempt to bring together the storyteller and a happier ending to the readers imagination. Thinking of the worst possible scenario indeed you have, though the climax of ones senses must come to theirs after realising somewhat how far evil has overtaken the life of everyone's behaviour. Not everyone goes home better off even if the defenceless do there is no picture of recovery.

Story of how someone will cover up mental and physical abuse if they think someone loves them.

The spelling and grammar in this book is poor. It would seem that it wasn't proof read. The story isn't too bad but I feel it reads to much like a 'Dear diary'
