Charlotte Byrd is the bestselling author of numerous contemporary romance novels. She lives in Southern California with her husband, son, and a crazy toy Australian Shepherd. She loves dark books, hot weather and crystal blue waters.
BLACK EDGE Series (5 books!)
Mr. Black bought me at a secret auction on his yacht. I’ve never done anything like this before. What happens when one night isn’t enough?
This was a good continuation of the story. I hadn't read any of the single books. So for me this is all new. I was happy that Ellie was living out her dream. She deserved better since her old boss was a witch with a b. I really hope that Aiden can get back at that jerk. He deserves to get put in his place for what he did. The best part of this book was that they are now becoming an official couple. I really hope that it all works out in the end. (It should but you never know with authors these days.)
Black Rules Book #2 by Charlotte Byrd If you only read one book this year this is the one. I plan on reading this story again, it is one of the best stories I have read. This book is the continuing story of Ellie and Aiden. There is so much going on in this story even a second auction. Will Aiden win Ellie? Will Caroline fine someone at the auction? There is more twist and turns in this book, you cannot put it down. The pages just float by so fast, I can’t wait for book three. Charlotte Byrd has so much talent as a writer, I want to read all her books. I received an ARC and have voluntarily left an honest review.
I think I must start with the same statement I wrote in my review for Black Edge. Here it comes. First of all this book is a re-issue of Ms Byrd's Auctioned to Him series - this time I think it covers the third and fourth books thereof. This in general isn't an issue for me. Authors do this all the time. They make new covers even change the title sometimes. What I have issues with on the other hand is that nowhere in the blurb was this fact mentioned. So consider this information as due diligence service not coming from the author unfortunately but from an ARC reader. I don't think I can identify with such marketing tricks. Aside from that I also completely lost interest both in the plot and in the characters. Honestly I found myself skipping paragraphs. What seemed like a good potential in Black Edge didn't deliver in Black Rules. I think this series was the first this author ever wrote or at least it felt like it, given how much really unnecessary details she embedded about self publishing and how to try to become a writer and so on. Frankly it felt like more of a "How to become and indie author?" handbook. Still some editing issues also remained. I will not going to continue to read this series. I received an advanced readers' copy and posted my honest review voluntarily.
The erotic MUST-READ of 2018! Move over Mr. Grey – Mr. Black is this summer’s Go-To READ! This is an AMAZING romance novel, and then so much more! I don’t usually like series books that end with any type of cliff. I’m more of a “tell me the whole story, or don’t tell me anything at all,” kind of reader. While I’ve broken this general policy a couple of times – I’ve then been reminded why I made the policy in the first place. I tell you all this, so you will understand that I would volunteer to read/review for any author who is writing a “cliffhanger” series – where a reader must purchase a series of books to get the whole story – is a total aberration for me. That being said, I am still going to give a five-star review to this novel which is part of a serial story. While each novel in the series only tells part of the story, I was able to battle my aversion in two ways. First, each novel in Charlotte Byrd’s “Black” series is a full-length novel of 40,000 words or more and gives enough story that it can stand on its own. The reader does NOT have to read the rest of the serialized tale or purchase another book. Second, is a bimodal bit of reasoning. The author can go into much more depth this way. Readers being busier these days would rather read a series of shorter novels than the 300-page behemoths which we now call the “classics.” While I would prefer the behemoths, I do understand the marketing concerns. So, “BLACK RULES” the second of five novels in the “Black Edge Series” by Charlotte Byrd. It is a combination of two novellas from the author’s extremely successful ‘Auctioned to Him’ series and I must admit that Byrd, or whoever may be giving her advice, is an absolute marketing genius. Again, the novels are selling like proverbial hotcakes on a Sunday morning. They are selling because the story is JUST THAT GOOD!! Byrd’s characters are realistic, and any reader of indie books will fall in love with Ellie, a struggling writer to tries her hand with writing a romance. She is remarkable, strong, caring kind and Loves the hero of the story, Mr. Black. What’s not to love? The story is complex, realistic, inspirational, compelling and informative in ways readers might not even expect. It is a MUST-BUY in any form, so get your copy of “BLACK RULES” today! I was given an ARC of “BLACK RULES” to prepare this honest, voluntary review. EASILY earning a TOP five-star recommendation, this is an outstanding way to spend the summer of 2018, and relax with a GREAT BOOK!
wow this is one amazing book I love Ellie and Aiden or known as mr. black mr. black invites Ellie back to another night on on his beautiful yacht. she was very excited to go see him again she decided she was going to go because she really wanted to see him and see how their so-called relationship could be after their one-night hot sizzling sex Ellie and her girlfriend and roommate Caroline decided she wanted to go back because Caroline and Ellie went last time and Caroline decided not to participate in the auction and she had to leave along with all the others that did not voluntary consent to a contract for the auction Ellie made a lot of money and had such a good time with mr. black last time the mr. black invites Ellie to come back to the yacht Caroline has to go with to try it out to so they show up at the yacht and went to the meet and greet like last time and then things get crazy from there LizBeth a submissive one of mr. black friends who is working on the boat like time insists to Ellie that mr. black wants her to be in the auction and Elli keeps insisting to try to speak to mr. black before the auction so she decides to do it but shes really not happy about it she wants more of a relationship with him and she don't want to be auctioned off she don't want his money and things do not turn out the way they're supposed to at the auction and things go horribly wrong because of that it effects mr. black business this is one toe curling action packed panty melting very sexy book you definitely don't want to miss I'm so looking forward to the next book Bravo mrs. Byrd you've done it again another five star read.
We continue on this weird little merry go round with our characters here – getting teased about a world that we know nothing about and yet wanting to know more. Ellie and Aiden seem to have something that could be real, but there really are a few obstacles in their way. When Aiden invites Ellie and Caroline to another Yacht party – even more questions arise
We start off this second book with Ellie uncertain as to why she’s been invited again and Caroline looking to take full advantage of what she missed out on. Lucky for her, her regrets are short lived since she gets to have a redo.
We know that things can’t go the same way this time around – that would make for a dull and boring story. So what we get at this second party is an interesting situation. Ellie isn’t trying to impress anyone so again she’s in jeans and a shirt. Caroline knows the cocktail hour protocol so she’s looking her best and mingling. She meets everyone and makes an impression and at the same time, Ellie runs into a guy named Blake who made some unnecessary comments to her at the first party. If you remember, he told her that she doesn’t belong there, yet tried to outbid Aiden for a night with her.
Well….he’s just a premonition of what’s to come and we know it can’t be good. We move from the cocktail hour to the pre-auction set up. Caroline and Ellie realize quickly that things aren’t the same as last time. Ellie is the only girl who’s been there before, everyone else is new. The girls are all asked to wear lingerie v. whatever they are comfortable in (remember Ellie wore her dress, while others went full nude). The other strange piece is that instead of seeing the entire audience, there’s a row of mirrors keeping them separate so no one knows who’s bidding on them and that adds for tension. Ellie wasn’t going to participate but she’s told that Aiden really wants her to, so she goes against her gut and does it.
What happens next is very different than the first time around. Ellie raises a bit of money from the auction, not at all like last time, but quickly realizes that it’s not Aiden who’s bid but Blake. the Auctioneer – Lizbeth was uncomfortable starting the auction since Aiden apparently wasn’t there and now we know what happened as a result.
The trajectory of the story is a bad/sad one from here. We know that Blake doesn’t have Ellie’s best interest at heart and Ellie wants nothing to do with him. She only came to the party to be with Aiden and when it’s someone else, she wants out. Blake won’t let that happen, and in turn, Ellie has to fight for her freedom, and Blake gets injured from both Ellie And Aiden who finally comes to her rescue.
There are repercussions to all this of course and we quickly see the impact that it has for Aiden. Blake was the first investor of Aiden’s company and because of this feud, he’s taken his money out and the money of all his friends. Owl is failing, and Aiden doesn’t know how to fix things. Ellie can’t help and that makes the dynamic even harder. We really want some calm time for them to find out what they could be to each other – we know that they’ve both admitted to stronger feelings, but if they aren’t given the chance to cultivate it, then we’ll never know right?
Add to that – Caroline met a decent guy she things from the auction and we watch that relationship evolve- hoping for the best but not really knowing what will happen. We do’t know anything about Taylor so we don’t know if he’s got honest motivations.
There’s also Tom – Ellie’s friend who she used to have a crush on, but who’s also engaged to their boss. They had a falling out if you remember in the first book, and things come to a head even more in this second book. Tom invites Ellie, Caroline and Aiden to his fiance’s family’s house for an engagement party and we really don’t know how this is going to end up.
Aside from all the sexy steamy things that we read about from time to time in here, there’s also the similar undertone from the Tangled series that i see here – a budding writer/author who goes it alone. learns the ropes to self-publishing and tries to make it into something great. I think that it’s lovely that our author Charlotte Byrd is trying to give all of those aspirating authors out there the knowledge and tools to do it themselves and I hope for Ellie that it pans out. On that note, i’m off to book three since i’m really interested in seeing what happens to Owl and what that means for Ellie and Aiden.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This story was sexy, appealing, and engaging! This is a fantastic book from the Black Edge series by Charlotte Byrd that will keep you glued to the pages of this captivating story. This is a continuation of book one about Ellie Rhodes and Aiden Black. I loved this story, and especially the handsome, confident, charismatic, demanding, and sexy Mr. Black. From the very first page I was spellbound by these fantastically described characters that you will find yourself falling in love with them—or not. Ellie and Aiden are drawn together like the proverbial moth to the flame and their chemistry is palpable, reflected in every look, every touch, and every word uttered between them—the sex is off-the-chart hot! Charlotte Byrd has a unique way of writing her alpha males and the dark character of Aiden that is the perfect foil for Ellie’s inner strength and innocence. Destiny brought them together—not once, but twice—and their story is one you will want to read about—there are shadows which persist and grow alongside their love. There several twists and turns within the storyline that will pique your interest—you will not be disappointed. The scenes are well written, fast-paced and flow smoothly from one scene to the next—this is a definite MUST READ!!
The Continuation of Ellie Rhodes & Mr. Black's story.... a second invitation and what happens next.
Note: This is book two of the Black Series - although they can be read separately it's easier knowing the back story. -------------------- Main Characters: Ellie Rhodes - young woman finding her way in the world going through a personal growth. Aiden Black - tech billionaire with certain proclivities, domineering and wants Ellie to be his.
Story Overview: Ellie and Aiden were getting along, and then they weren't. But things changed between the and Aiden is no longer Mr. Black - it's more personal now. And then she gets another invitation. Ellie is torn between accepting and declining after what happened at the club in the previously, but against her better judgement she decides to accept.
Things go wrong, horribly wrong this time round with the auction. It's not Mr Black, it's someone worse and the implications of this reaches far beyond her and Aiden. Everything begins to fall apart for Aiden and he withdraws from Ellie. But she's not going to let the man she's in love with fall apart.
It doesn't matter what's going on in their lives they have each other... can their fortunes change? Can things improve? On to the next one to find out I guess.
-------------------- Concluding Thoughts: This was another middle of the road read for me. This installment for me, was much more compelling it seemed to flow better. On to the next one.

I voluntarily read an arc of this book for a fair and honest review. By the beginning of this book Aiden is pretty much a goner for Ellie. He has made sire that she received an invitation to the next party of the yacht. Aiden soon realizes that he' fallen in love with Ellie but has doubts about whether or not she's just into him for the $$. Retturning to the ya hit with her roommate Caroline, Ellie learns that there is going to be another auction. She also learns that Aiden wants her to participate in the auction. Now the only thing left for Ellie to do is to wait for Blake to buy her. But does he? Here's why I loved this book...we finally get some insight into Aiden. Of course there's something exciting about tall, dark and mysterious but there's something sexy about knowing what a man is thinking. Even something as minuscule as the thermostat tells a lot about who Aidan is. I loved that. This book is all Aiden..Mr. Black doesn't make an appearance. While parts of the book seemed like a "how to self publish" manual the scenes between Ellie and Tom were the most interesting aspects of this particular book. Not a whole lot of relationship ground was covered but once again there satisfying read from Ms. Byrd.
Well I read first book I also read a free preview before the first book which was a short story that is in the first book pretty much. So had to skip alot of chapters to get. Where I needed to be I'm not sure about the books I gave it 5 stars because it deserves it. But I also feel that it doesn't in same respect. I hate and I know hate is a very strong word the ending of both books I'm not sure I want to spend the money on the next one I feel like I want to back out and find a different book. I don't like all the run around I don't like how her friends treat Ellie at all and sometimes I wonder about Aiden he says he loves her but yet seems so back and forth. Yes he might be going through alot of things but someone is giving him support like he needs and I feel like he is brushing her off. So hard to guess on feelings I understand that things have not been the greatest for the both of them. Also at the end of each book q small preview of what to comes is always the same. I will probably get the 3rd book and read it but I think that will be my make or break me on if I move on with the rest of the series. I would also enjoy more chapter of Aiden point of view in things as well.

OMG!!! Charlotte Byrd has done it again with Black Edge!! I was definitely hooked on this book too. This was another very quick read because I couldn’t put it down! Black Edge is the second part of Mr. Black and Ellie’s story. She is going to spend one night with the elusive Mr. Black. She does things with him that she never would have tried before and enjoys herself. However, she also gets a chance to begin discovering the real Mr. Black. Mr. Black finds himself in a peculiar predicament because he doesn’t understand the insane attraction and need to be with Ellie. He struggles with how to handle these emotions while trying to continue in a real relationship with her. She struggles with reconciling the dominant Mr. Black with the gentle Aiden Black...she’a falling for him, but is unsure of how to navigate his world. The book ends with another cliffhanger...another invitation, a yacht party, and an auction. Can Ellie believe in the fact he wants only at this auction of beautiful women?
Part three (I counted the Prequel) of this saga and the story of the two main male and female characters is just as exciting as the first two parts. The two main male and female characters appear to have established a committed relationship. They are very loving with one another and very supportive of each other. Of course, there are still explicit sex scenes described but the tenor of the two now seems overlaid with more emotion. The main female character is becoming stronger within herself and makes some life changing decisions. The main male character is hit with a barrage of negativity with his work and rightly so, immersed himself in trying to solve matters for a positive resolution. The main female character's ex-male best friend keeps entering the picture and dirtying up the waters. We are left at the end of this novel with yet a number of questions to be answered. The ending is of course a cliff hanger and Ms. Byrd done hung her readers very well indeed. This reader cannot wait for the next installment.
I don't even know where to start. I never leave bad reviews. If I don't like a book I just walk away. These books are beyond horrible. They drag on forever, extremely repetive and the timing of things do not line up. The MMC is just immature and split personality. The FMC is a horrible friend and completely selfish. I mean her best friend's life completely changes and she runs off with her boyfriend that just broke up with her? That makes perfect sense. The author goes into excruciating detail about kindle unlimited works and how little an author gets paid. Lastly, the straw the broke the camels back, heads up it is a spoiler, the FMC decides she wants to go the easy way to have the baby and decides to have a c-section. I have had 2 c-sections and there is nothing easy about having one. The recovery is much longer. They way she described how it's no big deal to have one made me sick to my stomach. Best advice I can give anyone? Find a different series. This one isn't worth it.
I read this book as part of an arc program. This is part three of this series. In this book, Ellie goes back to the yacht to another auction at the request of Mr. Black. Ellie thought they were passed the point of him buying her, she didn't want the money, she only wanted him. When they get the yacht, the auction is set up a little differently and when it comes Ellie's turn, she doesn't want to go on stage but thinks it is what Aiden wants and it is the only way she can see him. Afterwards Ellie is brought to the room only to find out it wasn't Aiden who bought her but Blake. Ellie is handcuffed and she wants to be set free and Blake refuses and attacks her. Blake is a business associate of Aiden's and when things go bad after the auction, he withdraws his investment to Aiden's company OWL. This is a good story and I really like it so far. I can't wait for part four. I think Ellie and Aiden have great chemistry and the sex scenes are hot. Good one (less)
I received a complimentary copy of this book with no expectation for leaving a review. This review is being left voluntarily and any and all opinions are my honest thoughts on this book and the authors work. WOW....there are so many words to describe this book, I can't just pick one, so here are a few. Intense, drama filled, enthralling, some angst, believable, realistic, secrecy, complex, engaging and attention grabbing. How's that? I was continually drawn to this series of books following Ellie and Mr. Black, so much so I will continue to read their story in the coming three books. I'm not normally a cliffhanger, multibook story kind of reader but I do occasionally make an exception. This is one of those stories. The way Ms. Byrd weaves here tales just naturally drawn you in and keep you turning the pages with her vivid use of descriptions and various twists and turns. They keep you captivated and interested. One click this book and the other four in this story, it is worth it.
This is the second installment of this series that picks up right where book one Black Bounds leaves off! You will definitely want to read these books back to back to avoid the anxiety of a cliff hanger and not have to stop and wonder. Well told story of the ins and outs of an unlikely relationship of a struggling writer and a billionaire who falls for her in a "love at first sight" scenario. Characters are well developed and believable as they try and make an against the odds relationship work. Throw in some drama, twist and turns that will surprise you and tons of steam...this is a book and series that you don't want to overlook. Each book has a little bit of reality built in as well as those characters that you just want to scream at while you're reading. Don't hesitate for a minute. Get this book and all the others so you don't have to stop reading.
Was a little concerned about reading this series of books as I as always check the reviews and was gutted to see that the main story characters fates were given away in a review!! But I've carried on I wasn't expecting the book to be as simar as the first series I read and some of the Scenes the same but let's hope it goes beyond this on the next few books!! If I hadn't seen the first set and the review then yes I would be more caught up with the reading. It is a good read so far and I'm looking forward to the next book but I've been wanting to scream to the book at some points as I can see what could be done to help, but I have an awful feeling that I can see how this is going I hope I'm wrong and can admit that in my next review..…..
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader copy of this book. You will be on the edge of your seat with this series. Ellie and Aiden are explosive together and when they hit a few bumps in the road, they need to navigate their relationship carefully. With another auction fast approaching Caroline be attending with Ellie and she’s less than happy to be going through all of this again, but Aiden has made sure that he will get Ellie again. But will he? There is always something or someone working in the background to destroy Aiden, he just hasn’t figured it out yet. With Tom stalking, I see problems in the near future for Aiden and Ellie and anyone entangled with them. Great read, highly recommend this series.
4.4 stars This book picks up where the previous book ended. Ellie is asked back to Aiden’s yacht to participate in another auction. While she has her reservations, her best friend coerces her to attend. Although Ellie has no desire to participate, she believes that Aiden is the only man who will bid on her and thus acquiesces. However, things do not go as planned and she is put in an untenable situation. Will Aiden get to her in time? Due to the unexpected fallout, the company that Aiden founded is on the skids. Can he find some new investors to pump some much-needed cash into his baby? I cannot wait to read the next installment to find out! I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book and the opinions are my own.
Ellie finds herself in trouble again, going to the boat again. Aiden wants her there, not to be bid on. Caroline decided to come along this time. Well, anyways she is brought to a from thinking she is going to be with Aiden. He is not in the room, Blake shows up and starts trying to have sex with her, she kicks and bites him, screaming to get help. Aiden appears and gets in a fight with Blake. Blake is so upset that he decides to pull out of Side's company. The company starts going down the tubes. The chemistry between Aiden and Ellie are stronger than ever! This story is a fantastic read. Can't wait to find out what the next book tells me about their affair. ENJOY!!! Posts of good actions!
We get a better understanding of who Mr. Black is in this book and that his Dom side truly is a farce. As I said in my previous review, it's almost a role reversal with the two leading characters, almost. There is so much unnecessary information in this book, I found myself skipping paragraphs, only to read what they are actually saying. The in between inner dialogue is tedious, and most times not needed. But at least I know how to self-publish a book if I ever want to become an Indie writer. There is one saving grace and that's the lead up to the third book. I was really getting into it, and the story was taking a nice turn and then BAM! the book ends. It was so abrupt I thought I had accidentally skipped pages but nope.
This a really a transition book and Mr. Black only makes a brief appearance. Ellie and Caroline go to the second party and take part in the auction. It doesn't go as planned and there are dire consequences both for Ellie short term and Aiden long term. As bad as things are, there is some positive. Caroline meets the man of her dreams(at least for now) and the relationship between Aiden and Ellie becomes established and Ellie becomes an author.
Ellie and. Caroline are invited to a party at Tom's future in-laws house and things become intriguing, but we will have to find out in the next book.
This starts where the first book Black Edge finishes. The relationship of Aiden & Ellie continues but not the one with Mr. Black. When Ellie is invited back to the yacht for another auction she goes for her roommate. Aiden is supposed to win her again but when things go awry, how will it end up? Is Ellie's writing coming to real life? Someone is after Aiden and will they go after his business? Can their attraction and love keep them together or will it all fall apart? This is a good installment. Looking forward to the next one.
I voluntarily wrote this review from an advanced copy of this book.
Ellie and Aiden's story continues in this rewritten book of the Auctioned to Him series. Ellie goes back to the yacht for another auction per Aiden's request but ends up getting bid on by Blake because Aiden was tied up on a conference call. Aiden ends up saving Ellie from getting raped and Blake leaves his company, OWL and takes several heavy investors with him. Aiden is on the verge of losing his company but realizes he loves Ellie and she him. There are several more books in this series and you can't wait until the next one!!! Great read! I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.
I liked the development of their relationship - not just the ' L ' word but learning how to be 'in' a relationship. Relationships aren't easy, everything doesn't always go to plan. I like how we got to know them more individually, but they need to communicate more with each other, tell each other what they are thinking and feeling!
There is good character development with Ellie getting more confident with her writing and yet still insecure and Aiden becoming more vulnerable in his feelings for Ellie and yet allowing himself to feel and be more open. Loved the moment at her kitchen table.
