Zombie Decimation: A Post-Apocalyptic Zombie Survival

Rate this book
When the world changes, sacrifice is sometimes the only option. While Genevieve and Ellie work to find a cure for the virus, a simple supply run turns into a horrifying experience and one of the team members is lost. But in sacrifice, there is hope; while their work has been slowed by the tragedy, they’ve learned something new about the zombie hordes. Matthew’s own contribution to the survival of his friends is about to be tested as he gathers information that could help Genevieve and Ellie get their research back on track. The clock is ticking, and Matthew can’t be sure if they’ll find the cure in time, or what will be left of them if they can’t find a cure. Zombie Decimation is book 3 of the Last Man Standing series.

Max Lockwood writes suspenseful, post-apocalyptic thriller and dystopian fiction while living in New York.

( Format : Audiobook )
"Just another animal trying to preserve it's hide."
Matthew is different. He knows it. And his blood sample shows it. He was infected by the virus but he hasn't turned. No one knows why - or if it is just a matter of time. Meanwhile, the hotel has people to defend and feed, so Matthew with his soldier friends Kurt and Sergio, and the bubbly wanna-be-girlfriend Crystal, head out on a quick sortie for extra food supplies and find it very quiet...

Written in the first person from Matthew's perspective, the reader lives with him: the emotional roller coaster of his life, his fears, anger, hopes and need of friendship combined with the guilt and sadness he still feels over the loss of his wife. The world is changing yet again and, for the group of survivors at the hotel, their best bet is to stay alive and hope that the two scientists, Ellie and Genevieve, can somehow find a cure. Andrew Werhlen again narrates, his pace and performance excellent as always

This is an excellent series with thrills and action, occasionally when least expected. Although not essential to have read the previous two books, this story obviously becomes more poignant with knowledge of what the characters have endured before. But with the series getting ever better, it is still a good starting point for new readers.
My thanks to the rights holder of Zombie Decimation for freely gifting me a complimentary copy, at my request, via Audiobook Boom. An absorbing story with a personal take recommended to all who enjoy the zombie or post apocalyptic genres. I rarely like books ending on a cliffhanger, but this one has left this reader anxiously awaits book four.

Matthew is the main character. He and his military buddies (Sergio and Carl) are the muscle. Genevieve and Ellie are the brains- scientists set on curing the zombie virus. They are all learning more about what has caused the zombie virus and how it develops. Their ranks have been expanded by the addition of some new people. One of them has taken a shine to Matthew. After an expedition gone wrong, their team dynamics change drastically.

This is the second book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I would love to listen to the first book in this series. These are not complicated books. They are an easy listen/read to entertain you. There is some zombie fighting and supply hunting but the focus is more on the characters and their interactions. This book ends with a definite lead into the next.

This is the fourth book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Andrew B Wehrlen ) and I would listen to another. I like his narration style. He brings the story to life making me forget I’m being read to. His characters (even female) have distinct voices.

There are no explicit sex scenes. There are scenes in which they fight the zombies, but it is not excessive violence. There is no excessive swearing.

Soooooo this is a great 3rd book..... but some characters lacked common sense......more than once. We know they are smarter than this, your readers know what’s coming so why don’t they? Loved that there was more action in this installment.

Ready to find out more about the people living on the upper floors that were rescued and are pretty much hermits!

When the hell is book 4 coming out?
Andrew did an amazing job narrating and I wouldn’t expect anything less from one of my favorite narrators.

I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook from the publisher/author but voluntarily give my honest review.

The series continues with Ellie and Genevieve still looking for a cure for the virus. Matthew finds that he is infected from a scratch, but is not turning. He volunteers his body to science and hopes his blood will give Genevieve and Ellie the edge they need. To be honest there is more talking than action in this volume. The characters are great which saves the story and appears to be a build-up for the next volume. Getting better and better

This is by far the best of the series.

I don't think what seems to be going on is REALLY going on, or at least I hope not.

This was the first book I READ rather than listened to on Audible but it was quite satisfying and I look forward to the next installment.
