She has it. They want it, and they'll do anything to get it. Crossing Zero is a compelling page-turner with ever-increasing suspense. When Kelly's eleven-year-old son's life is in danger, the unimaginable happens. An unforgettable twist propels this thriller in a stunning new direction as it races toward an electrifying conclusion.
PRAISE FOR DALE BRANDON'S FEAR RUNNER. The author keeps the action flowing and delivers enough clever twists to make this an enjoyable read for thriller fans . . . – Kirkus Reviews
Dale's style is to write fast-paced, suspenseful novels with plenty of action. He expends great effort to make these scenes as creative and unusual as possible, especially in his thrillers.
CROSSING ZERO, a thriller, was published in May of 2018. The novel features a unique premise, and an unforgettable twist.
The prestigious Kirkus Reviews gave a very positive review of Dale's previous thriller, FEAR RUNNER.
He has a Western published in both hard cover and e-book format. A Black Horse Western, DEATH MOUNTAIN, was published in England in August of 2015
Besides writing, he enjoys exploring the back roads of California, and fine art photography. His photos have won several awards.
This takes place in California and in the Sierra mountains in Nevada. Lots of action in the mountains. Sparky is my here … never underestimate the little guy. We all wish our teenage boys were like Cody. Oh yea ~ what a program Cyberstar is … crossing Zero indeed. Cozy mystery but not much thrills.
...But still needs editing. Wrong words used at times ( "grove" instead of "groove," for example) . The author seems to have a fixation with using the word "then" followed by a comma, right after a semi-colon. Totally incorrect. There are plot holes which need filling; for example, Kelly left her phone in her rental car when she and Cody fled into the forest, but she had it with her when she was in the hospital. Another example: Sean was shot in the side early on, and even though it was only a glancing blow off his ribs, there is no way he could have run in the forest and climb rocks with no problems. In fact it's never mentioned again. Not likely! The story idea is a good one and could even be great by tightening the plot and shortening the time they were in the wilderness. I look forward to reading another one by Dale Brandon.
The first half was too sort of technical for me, too focused on the ins and outs of stockmarket, stock exchange and brokers etc., something I am not that interested in, and which made this a bit boring. Despite of what went on around the female protagonists, and the reader seeing which directions all the different personalities went, there was no tension, to suspense which should have been there even at that stage of the story. It picked up a bit in the second half, but I must admit by then I lost interest a bit and found it difficult to get into the story again. Pity, as it is a good plot, with interesting characters.
While I enjoyed this book, it honestly dragged in a couple places. First I unfortunately am not very familiar with the stock exchange market so when the author delved deeply into "stock lingo" & Kelly & Sparky's long, laborious algorithms or computer programming, snooze! And it went on for so long! Then (small spoiler alert) the looonnnggg mountain scenario went on & on and was no longer a thriller but repetitious & boring. If the editor had "fixed" those two problems the book would be a five 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 read!!!
Very good! A solid mystery tale with a bit of romance tossed in. A small group of very likeable characters up against a few unsavory folk and one seriously nasty bloke with a very twisted mind.
This was a very easy read. Great character development, good story line, and a solid ending. I would definitely recommend this if you are wanting a nice mystery, that keeps you interested and engaged, but doesn't have you looking over your shoulder every five minutes.
Overall a decent plot, but only if you suspend your disbelief in the highly unlikely. Neither the software that was developed nor the relationship between Kelly and Sean were credible - and these were two of the key elements of the plot. Characters were interesting, but again not quite credible - why did Sparky have to be a dwarf, why were the businessmen all lecherous?
This book was a thrilling adventure! I can say "can we give some love for the little people!!!"👏🏿. There was so many great smart details that didn't make the story too fast paced or overly romantic. I got to indulge in alot of information while enjoying some background stories, comedy, drama, murder, and mayhem! Well done Auhor.
This book had me riveted to the end. Tho i almost quit it in the first couple of chapters, because im sick of evil in everything, tv news internet but i gave it a bit more and discovered i couldn't put it down!
What I liked about the book is the deep and compact storyline. The plot is perfectly woven and the contents is well developed. The title is what attracted me at the first place. The portrayal of the scenes are captivating and I loved the book completely. Definitely recommendable. Thank you.
Intense and scary good story about a smart single mother and a crazy wealthy man who will stop at nothing to steal a computer program she created. Wonderful characters especially her landlord who helps her in more ways than one.
Single mother invents a program to predict the stock market and bad people want to get it from her. She has a son and an ex husband. Lots of twists and turns to get to the finish.
This is a great read! It is full of action all the way through! It will have you in tears and then in laughter! It took me inside the story and I felt like I was there with the folks in the story! This Book is worth your time to read and worth the price! Enjoy!
Nicely written story of the past returning to haunt and forgiving love t hat knows no bounds. Nice character development you get to care about them before the action ensues.
Part romantic, big thriller, lost love, engaging, shy outs, good guys and bad guys. What more could you want? Oh and a twist with a chase through the mountains . You will learn Some survival skills.
When I started this book, I thought the story would take place in tech and financial settings. I expected a love story line but not one that included a dwarf. When the Boy Scouts entered the story I was perplexed. Read this, you'll be perplexed too.
Nice book. After a long time I was able to complete a book. There could have been a much better ending including a lot from the middle part of the book.
