Such a good read! This was one of the first books I read on alternative medicine and it made me want to read so much more. There is a lot to be said about reaching for natural remedies provided by the Earth for simple things that we are so quick to pop a pill for. I loved how Ayurveda stresses both prevention and holistic healing, two concepts that are only minimally present in Western Medicine. I highly recommend you read this book, take the quizzes, share knowledge with your friends and keep a journal nearby to capture all the amazing wisdom that is so clearly spelled out for you in this book.
This was such an insightful book with so much depth to it. Obviously Ayurveda is a very complex system, which the author acknowledges, but it is an amazing introductory book to open you up into the world of Ayurveda. I love its peaceful and forgiving air, where health is approached through balance and understanding oneself.
Definitely recommend this book to anyone who is interested in holistic health!
Concise, clear and informative. Loved the way she has literally introduced the concept of ayurveda into daily lives of regular people. Written very well. I love the fact that not once does it feel overwhelming and complicated, even to a beginner. Highly recommended for people interested in preventive healthcare.
This book is about getting healthy, and staying healthy - taking care of your mind, body and spirit sp that you can live well. If you've read any other Ayurveda books, the content will be familiar, but the focus on lifestyle in terms of health is slightly different, with information and tiny case studies about how others have adapted their lives. Lots of information so would make a good reference book to revisit as your health improves. Though it does come back to eating, sleeping and moving well.
Geeta Vara has smartly blended the centuries-old way of curing with the modern lifestyle. While picking the book, I was of the opinion that I will get to read about sattvic food and lifestyle. But, I was awestruck when I heard an ayurvedic practitioner mentioning that it is okay to have eggs and even chicken, but in moderation. The most engaging part of the book was to identify your body/mind type and the concept that one diet doesn't suit all.
Banyak banget hal teknis yang mungkin sulit dipraktikkan tanpa didampingi praktisi ayurveda. That’s why, ayo lakukan yang ‘mudah’ saja.
Pencernaan lancar, badan sehat.
“It is a transition from a life of mediocrity to a life of vitality. It is not about just getting through the day but living fully with energy and enthusiasm.”
“Our bodies are overfed, yet we are starved of essential nutrients. Our diets lack the variety of natural, colourful and ‘prana’-rich foods that are too often replaced by processed foods that bring convenience.”
Aiškiai ir paprastai perteikti pagrindiniai ajurvedos principai, įkvepiantys žinias taikyti kasdien. Rekomenduočiau visiems, kam trūksta balanso, ramybės, atsipalaidavimo, įsiklausymo į savo kūną ir apskritai - geros savijautos, sveiko kūno ir ramaus proto harmonijos. 🙏🏻
This book is a bit vague and meandering in places and maybe tries to cover too much but, overall, it is really good book if you want a fairly detailed introduction to Ayurveda. It gives lots of useful explanations and practical advice. I learnt a lot from it and will go back to it to learn even more.
This book is a brilliant starting point for anyone wanting to learn more about an alternative approach to healthcare and perhaps shake up their lifestyle. It is easy and interesting to read and I have already implemented several aspects of Ayurveda into my daily routine.
Bem interessante. E me ajudou a entender os conceitos basicas dessa medicina milenar. O que não gostei foi o sistema de organização do livro. Mas, tem um bom conteudo e os conceitos estao bem explicados.
A brilliant overview of Ayurveda, with a particular focus on digestive health but covering all elements. I particularly appreciated that the book is considerate of Ayurveda practice within a westernised lifestyle.
An excellent modern guide to Ayurveda. I now know what mind/body type I am! There are charts and tables indicating the foods and drinks that will bring one back to a natural state of balance. There is a lot to discover in this book, so read slowly and learn.
Love the way this book is written and enjoy it so much, i couldn't stop reading. This is a recommended bookfor those who wsntd to know the basic of Ayurveda
Must read for anyone interested in Ayurveda &/or wellbeing 😊 Very simple yet informative with plenty of practical daily advise on how to improve your lifestyle. Loved it!
I liked the balance of information load of the book throughout. It doesn't bore you. best book for an introduction to Ayurveda and enough for anyone who wishes to start their journey towards healthy living. This is my fourth book either on Ayurveda or related to Ayurveda and i find this book to be pleasant start for seekers like me.
except for the chanting if Gayatri Mantra, which i think the author must learn accurately, everything else is amazing.
Fantastic introduction to Ayurveda for people living busy lives. The fundamentals chapter went into a lot of detail so may need to re-read it again but loved the practical applications throughout
