I've always been adventurous, but my new bodyguard makes me go wild...
Stuck in the desert with a crazy stuntman, insane script, and cheap sets, I'm the star in the world's worst movie. On top of that, I have a sexy-as-sin bodyguard watching my every move, hired to protect me -and the production- from myself. He's always there, and I can't get him out of my head.
Lucas Baxter, a six foot slab of stud with a rock hard bod, arrogant swagger, and take-no-prisoners attitude. Suddenly I'm up at the crack of dawn when I'm used to the crack of noon. His job is to keep me safe, but his role is to keep me in line... and I'm loving every minute of it. I can't think when he's around, not with his rippling muscles sweating in the desert heat.
As soon as I laid eyes on him my long-suppressed attraction to men came roaring back. Forget the script, the only lines I want to learn are the cut shape of his muscular body, and the only thing I want to know is the haunting longing behind his eyes. One look from him and my mask slips, and I'm shaken to the core.
I'm ready to take the plunge. I know if I run he'll catch me, and our game of cat and mouse will end with him taking me, heart and soul... but I might lose it all.
2 and 1/2 stars. I think I’m done with this Mister series. I haven’t really liked any of them that much. This whole concept was pretty silly. It was not so bad that I couldn’t finish, but not good enough for me to want to read the next one. I wanted a sweet love story, but what I got was a silly mess. Oh, the cover is hot and the sex was pretty good.
Always a great cover, but this time the story was better, the sex was great but the characters were more funny, the situation was more interesting, I had a lot of fun with the differents scenes on the set. Try it , you could be surprised or not 😅😅😅😅😅😅 😉
Hi! So....just a few things here to say about this book and author:
+ The bones of this story are pretty solid. There are several interesting and likable characters apart from the MCs. The author has a sense of humor and lets it peek through a bit. The big sex scene was placed according to a graded formula, and was darn hot. I believed the motivation of the antagonist.
- There were some glaring continuity issues that should have been caught in edit. The resolution of the story was vague and left me feeling unsatisfied.
There were a few opportunities to flesh out the supporting characters that were missed, leaving the overall story feeling shallow and pointless. The big sex scene, why totally smokin' hot Although the motivation of the antagonist was believable, the dialogue with that character was over-the-top, resembling a cartoon villain.
TLDR: Parts of this story are painfully irritating to read, but I made it though with little or no skimming. The last sex scene is a great payoff, but the book could use another edit.
Better than "Mister bridesmaid" which was just repulsive. This one is better content and character wise, but has its own problems that do not allow for a higher rating than 3. I would put 2.5 if I could. Let's just say that not every person who knows the appropriate terminology for a certain field should necessarily further their career in it. Knowing the words is not the same as using them appropriately so that everything is clear and makes sense...
I find myself conflicted still as to my feelings on this book. In places, it was a little confusing, slightly far-fetched. We meet Matt on the set of a film he doesn't want to be in in the middle of the desert outside of Las Vegas. Awoken by a god like man standing over him, he's unsurprised to discover his mother has sent a bodyguard/babysitter to look after him. Maybe his behaviour when he was a little younger was questionable but there's not much he can get up to where he is. Lucas is ex army, current private security and isn't quite sure what he finds himself in when he sees the location of this film set and listens to the read through of the most ludicrous script in history. His instant attraction to Matt shouldn't matter when he's on the job but Matt is not helping by making it clear what he wants from Lucas. The story line of this book ends up being different from what you think by the time you finish with an added sub plot with the story going on between the MC's. The men are written well and you can feel the connection they have through the writing. I enjoyed the banter they have as well as the more seldom heart to heart moments when they each see past the beautiful exterior. We have a great secondary character in Sandy, Matt's "Aunt" from when he was younger, she's trying to actually get something from this film even if it's just the paycheck. She brings some light relief as well as a couple of tender moments where you can see how much she cares for Matt. There are several comedy moments with regards to the film and what they are expected to do. So very random in some of the props, names, beings etc that you can't help but think.......what?? It's a book that is for some but not for others but I recommend giving it a try as you won't know unless you try yourself. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review
I wanted to love this, but I couldn't. It had some fun and great elements (humor, hot bodyguard, fun side characters), but it really fell short in some of the continuity and story telling (at times if felt forced and choppy). I found myself liking Lucas a lot, and it took a while for me to warm up to Matt's flighty and obnoxious attitude. Eventually he came into his own, but it took a while for me to really get there with him and I couldn't understand what Lucas saw in him other than looks.
The story behind the making of the movie was interesting, and I liked where the story ended overall. Perhaps it was my copy (as I had an unfinished ARC), but I wish there was a break at the end that stated where the "epilogue" started and we had some idea of how far in the future it was. I would've liked a little more details about the end and about Matt and Lucas as a couple. I also wish we had a little more understanding of the repercussions (if there were any) of the conversations with Matt's parents and if Lucas ever connected with his family. These two areas felt unfinished to me.
In the end, I liked Matt and Lucas together, and I liked watching Matt grow up a little.
I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC received by the author

What increased the ratings was not even the steam, yes, Ivy knows steam. It was that this book kept me entertained and on edge with what else could go wrong with this highfalutin movie and its cast of characters!
"I've always been…curious, I think is the word. Maybe questioning, but it's never been a question I tried to answer. Preserve the mystery..."
I laughed so hard I swear I ripped something. I have enjoyed all of Ivy Oliver's Mister books, but unlike the other two, bodyguard proved to me that this author had an imagination out of this world. I was highly entertained and intrigued. Caught up in the high jinx of it all, I slowly got pulled into the mystery while cheering Matt and Lucas on.
The plot gives the readers the drama that unfolds, but if you one click and read, you would get so much more in the realm of entertainment. I am still laughing as I write this review. Ms. Oliver, more please. You have done sweet, you have done dramady, surprise me yet again.
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.
In Mister Bodyguard, Matt's mother wants to make a movie staring her son. To protect him, she hires Lucas to be Matt's bodyguard.
The movie is a complete and utter disaster. One crazy thing after another will keep you giggling, as well as shaking your head.
The only good thing to come out of this movie so far is the bodyguard. Both Matt and Lucass are hot for one another. Sure, they shouldn't get involved, but they just can't help themselves. The resulting sex scenes are steamy!
I found one quote that everyone should listen to and follow. '"If you see what you want in life, go for it. If you don't, one day you'll turn around and find that you can only see it behind you."'
Throughout the story, we hear all the crazy things going on with the movie. People on set start wondering what exactly is going on. And then someone goes after Matt. Now they all need to figure out what's going on and soon. And, rest assured, the truth is crazy.
I highly recommend Mister Bodyguard as a light-hearted, silly book. It is highly entertaining, definitely romantic, and Hot!
This is an entertaining and quirky story with a lot of surprising twists and turns. The pace in the beginning is a bit slow, the writing is disjointed at times and there are a few jumps in time that were disconcerting but overall I enjoyed this book. I love the characters and Sandy is by far my favorite even though she plays a secondary role. Lucas and Matt are perfect for each other and I love the chemistry and connection they have. Matt has to convince Lucas that they will be great together at the same time he has to deal with what is happening with the incredibly bad movie he is involved in thanks to his mother. Lucas, Matt and Sandy need to figure out why this movie is even being made before someone else gets hurt. The ending is great and I look forward to reading more books by Ivy Oliver.
The story was a bit clunky in the beginning, but, once I got to the meat of the book, I connected with the characters and had fun.
Matt and Lucas are great together. Matt is so overwhelmed by Lucas that he can't resist this chance at sexual exploration. Which was really hot! How they worked as a couple was even better, though.
A lot of the side characters were fun. The stunt man/movie villain was hilarious. "Aunt" Sandy was terrific! I loved her and how she stood up for herself and took no guff because of her old profession.
If you're looking for a hot, fun little story, you could do much worse.
The writing was bad, the plot was blah, and the characters were shallow.
I didn't care about Matt or Lucas, really. Or their relationship. There was no meat to it, and there was not much to it outside of animal sex. The fact Matt is a "gay virgin" who has fantasized but never acted on his attraction to men in the past is criminally underused. Lucas is a hot man mountain with almost no personality outside sexy, manly, former marine.
WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD
The part where Matt's mom is making this huge, awful movie to funnel money into her own account was a fine explanation. But the plot to maim/kill Matt with scorpions, and the car dying on their drive to Las Vegas, was a tad much.
And the writing was really bad. So bad that, at points, I had to reread because I wasn't sure what was happening.
Both Matt and Lucas are wonderfully original characters, along with the story that is sexy as hell, funny, and heartwarming at the same time. The only reason I didn't give this book five stars is because I felt the end was abrupt, the ending time-skipped without giving us anything about the development the men's relationship, and there was no declaration of feelings between the two. I wanted more of a romance, but once they had sex after the midpoint of the book, they became involved in a mystery and the story completely forgot about the romance. Ultimately, I wanted more of Matt and Lucas and their relationship, not the secondary mystery plot.
I wanted to love this book but only ended up liking it. The characters were its saving grace. I loved them. The story was fun but a little too off center for me. And having grown up in the Nevada desert, things seemed a little off with the settings. The main characters had great chemistry until after their big love scene. And there was never love mentioned and no finality to the characters lives together even though i expected it because of previous books. Overall, though, it was fun while it lasted.
This is rough around the edges, lots of typos and missing/extra words. Extensive mm sex scenes, silly storyline, couple of good laughs. Matt, the ne'er do well billionaire's son, is starring in a movie that is shooting scenes in the desert outside of Vegas. Picture Rocky Horror Picture Show crossed with Star Trek. His hot bodyguard arrives on set, and Matt has a new focus in life....
This is a very entertaining read that had me laughing through a lot of it. It's a fast paced story with some unexpected plot twists. Matt, spoiled rich kid, and Lucas, Matt's bodyguard, are wonderful characters with sizzling chemistry and their sex scenes are HOT! It's an overall fun read. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Hang in there with this story. It is worth it in the end, I promise you.
It was a bit slow to start with, the storyline was a little bit disjointed. But then it hit around the 50% mark and I couldn’t put it down. I felt like the last half could have been longer as the story was just so gripping.
I received an ARC for an honest and unbiased review.
An enjoyable read, a page turner! Instant attraction which one of them tries to fight, won't succeed, of course! Love the plot with the filming, and the end! And as I love the characters switching during sex this was a point in my favor too!
This is the third story in this series and I loved it! I liked the first two too, but this one is so funny, on top of the love story. I was so happy that Matt and Lucas got a happy ending.
If you like a fun storyline with crazy movie characters, movie script, mentioning of aliens ánd Area 51, this could be a book for you. It has two quirky people who have stellar 'bedroom activities'.
bodyguard are my thing, sadly this just work for me, But it's good all I can say is keep with it, lots of laughs, poeple will enjoy it. this only my point of view.
I grinned and I was embarrassed and I simply had a lot of fun with this one. Surprisingly good work with interesting characters and just-enough complicated plot.
