A great box set. Plenty of action romance tragedy. Good and evil battling it out.good wins out in the end.this was a well written story from a person of extraordinary imagination. This person gives their readers exactly what they want. Well done
I'd forgotten how much i loved fantasy books until i started reading this series . Derek Alan Siddoway has built an amazing world in which Gryphon's & their riders fill the skies protecting the land & its people . The main story revolves around Eva , an orphan raised by her parents friend plus his Golem , not an every day family but it works for them . This follows her journey into becoming one of the Gryphon riders , finding her family & if not healing past hurts finding peace with them . This book is full of tension , action , even at times loss & betrayal , enemies unite against a destructive force that wants to kill & conquer all . The books can be read as stand alones but as soon as one book ends you can't but help reach for the next , i hope this is not the last in this series as these characters are too good to lose .
Gryphon Riders Trilogy: Windsworn – Derek Alen Siddoway Always a little late to the fanparty, since this was the groupread of 2 months ago… This story just grabbed me right from the start. Maybe it is just me and my love for these kind of stories, but a girl-who-goes-on-a-quest is a story that can be easily annoying, irritating or just boring. None of that for this one! I love the character development, world building, storyline and the relationships in the book.
Gryphon Riders Trilogy: Windswept – Derek Alen Siddoway Oef this book… it just keeps you reading! I enjoyed it tremendous! There is a 2 year jump between the first book and the second book and you can feel it in the story. It has matured and is way deeper and serious than the previous installment. Action packed and I must say that the feels are strong again in this one, a must read!
Gryphon Riders Trilogy: Windbreak – Derek Alen Siddoway This book is so intens!!! I do not even know if I know enough of the English languages to bring into words how I feel about it. Everything is just… right. The story, the character development, the writing. The feels! Oh man the feels again! I need a comfort read now, but so happy that I have read this series.
Just when I'd about given up on fantasy, this boxed set came to my attention. It not only rekindled my interest in the genre, but has me looking forward to more. As the title announces, it has gryphons rather than dragons as the steed of the kingdom's elite sky warriors. That in itself was fascinating, but there is so much more to the trilogy. The story begins with a man dropping a newborn off with a blacksmith to raise. Her mother died giving birth and her father sent her away. Raised as a blacksmiths helper, at age seventeen she is plucked from her routine and peaceful life to become a novice Windsworn, a sky warrior of Altaris. But for Eva, now the caretaker of an evil, moody red gryphon hatchling, nothing will ever be the same.
I have read everything from Mark Lawrence to Mathias and this is by far one of the best stories I have read in such a long time. It latched on to me in the 1st chapter and by the third book, I didnt want to be let go. I loved the characters, the trials and triumphs and especially the storyline. I want more of the Gryphon riders...no, I need more of them.
Ever crossed one of those trilogies thinking it's on the TBR list. Eventually you'll get around to it? Well, this was on mine and boy was I impressed. The worlds, the characters and they flowed all so beautifully. The camadrie and bonds forged were LOTR level unforgettable. Seppo- Iron giant love - . Truly, well written and planning to read more of this author. Wish I read the trilogy earlier. Truly a great find.
I really enjoyed this Trilogy and enjoyed getting to know gryphons. The characters were clear and had distinct personalities. It really held my attention.
My only negative comment is that this whole trilogy and the shorts included could have benefited greatly from the services of an editor. There were many mistakes such as incomplete sentences, repeating words and phrases; things like that.
I'm happy to have read them, however and would recommend them.
Before the Covid-19 pandemic, I retired and was busy discovering what new opportunities awaited me. Once everything shut down, I rediscovered my love of reading and had plenty of time to truly experience the stories and adventures. Gryphon Riders does not disappoint. Characters are well developed. Most important to me is I care about their relationships, their plights, whether through love or sorrow, mishaps or celebrations. I find I’m drawn to stories of many genres with strong female protagonists. Gryphon Riders is one of my favorites.
This trilogy was very inspiring. It took us on a journey where there was betrayal, anger, hopelessness, and much more. Eva went through a lot, but was always coming out good at the end. It was a very emotional journey that I enjoyed. Can't wait to read more from this author.
The story was spellbinding. It was difficult to put down and I was anxious to finish all three books. That being said, I could not help myself from correcting the punctuation as I read. The editing left a lot to be desired and it made some parts of the story very slow as commas were left out where needed and put in where they were not.
I really enjoyed this trilogy. I am reminded of when I discovered The Dragon Riders of Pern series, and just couldn't wait til I got the next book in the series . Since this was 3 books in one I didn't have to wait. I can't wait to see what else is in store for the Windsworn Gryphon riders. Eagerly looking forward to reading more.
This was a great fantasy series. The story was well constructed and interesting. Like many fantasy novels it revolves around a character who's true identity is not known to them until later in life. Evelyn is raised by a black smith but she finds out she is tied to a more prestigious family. The characters are memorable and engaging. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys the fantasy genre.
So many fantasy authors spend so much time describing the scenery that the reader gets bored and skips pages just to get back to the story. That is not the case here. There is just enough world building to get the reader's imagination going and then on to the plot. The characters were believable and relatable. I just wish there was more about the gryphons!
It's not often I find a book, or series, that so completely captures my attention that all else suffers. This is one such series. The adventures of Eva, her red griffin Fury, their loyal friends and their fight against the smelterborn are what make this trilogy worth reading. This is on par with McCaffrey's dragons of Pern. I can't wait for more!
I loved this series. It's been many years since I read a fantasy storyline that could compete with my favourites of old, like the Pern series. Though I did find the last book dragged on a bit toward the end because I was impatient to know what would happen, I loved it and am a little sad that it's finished. Hopefully, we will read more of the Windsworn one day.
I have thoroughly enjoyed spending my time with Eva and her adventures. The characters were well done with depth and strength. The author developed both characters and storyline fully. The outcome was time well spent with a great sense of "been there, wish I could do that too".
I read this series one at a time as they came out and loved them, so when I saw the complete set I just had to read them again. If you enjoy a great fantasy with outstanding characters and lots of action, then this trilogy is one I think you will enjoy.
A very well written book and story. I enjoyed it very much, hard to put down. Author brought Eva from a child to a queen, he tells of her coming from a "smitty daughter" to being a queen. The trails of her years nearly getting herself . ........well you will have to read to find out.
The story was good. The characters made you care. A little to much foreshadowing is my only complaint. Overall I was very happy with all 3 books and will most likely read more of the authors work.
Masterfully written and presented! Good plot line with excellent flow the entire trilogy! Would highly recommend to all who like a good, fast, uncomplicated read! Well done!
A very well written story from start to finish. There is A lot of times when I though I knew what was going.to happen or who was going.to do it only to find out i was wrong. I like the twists and turns that keep you guessing at the plot.
Truly in an eagle head and a lions body. Awesome to ride and be connected to.
Starts out with a baby and by the end, a beautiful woman and Queen. The books held my Attention all the way through. I couldn't put the story down. I read all three in two days
So happy I found this book! I love gryphons. The world building was beyond great. I’m really surprised this author is not more well known with work like this! I will be getting several friends and family to read it!!
This was a well written book. It captured my attention quickly and made you root for the heroine. I enjoy when good triumphs over evil. The story moved along quickly and the story did not suffer from any blatant inconsistencies.
Fantastic plot and really good character growth but they could use a tiny bit more editing for grammatical errors. It was still WAY better than most kindle books. I definitely recommend them!
Enjoyed reading these books would have liked to know more about the characters and more relationships. Could really imagine the scenery and animals as well as how the main character Eva was feeling.
A good start. I liked the beginning the best as it never lagged. The rest needed 'tightening' to give it more depth and keep the energy going. A promising start to (hopefully) more and better reads from this Author?
Gryphons, Golems, magic, epic battles for a kingdom (or Queendom) and first love! A fantastic tale of fantastic creatures and a small band of heroes fighting for their lives and humanity What’s not to like Can’t wait to read more of Eva and her world
I loved the trilogy. It kept me on the edge of my seat everyday as I couldn't put it down. The books were full of love, loyalty, excitement and so much more. I can't wait for more of gryphon riders.
Wishing you fair winds and clear skies is this mythical and magical world of fantasy adventures. Very enjoyable characters and creatures, beautiful worded landscapes, and a little romance winding through.
