"I am in love with love. I believe in happy endings. Till death do us part. They walked off into the sunset together. All that corny stuff. The way I look at it, there's no stopping fate. I know, I know, you probably think I'm idealistic.
And maybe you're right. But if i was going to put my faith in anything in this world, it would be love".

Lethally Wedded by J.A. Jones

Lethally Wedded.

So this will be a tough review.

You know those books you read that you like but you also feel there is just something missing for you? That is this book for me.

I LOVED the plot. Stan is just an average Joe and he is tired of the dating scene in sunny California. He is divorced and it has taken him years to move on with his life. He has come to think of American women as spoiled. He sees so many divorces where the wife takes the husband for everything he's got. He is tired and burnt out on the dating scene. All he wants is a sweet and worshipful Blowup doll..sorry..I meant to say wife. Someone to love him unconditionally.

So..whats a guy to do?

How about ordering a wife? Through the mail! That's right. Our hero is lonely and thinks that all he may need is the love of a good mail order bride to sooth his troubles away. And if she happens to be stunning with huge breasts well..that's just fate right?

Stan wants and needs to love and to be loved. So he signs up on a Ukrainian mail order bride website. Now I ask you..what could possibly go wrong?

And Stan..being Stan..falls for the prettiest of the lot. Meet Tatianna, Ukrainian Bride to be. Tatiana lives in squalor with her friend Julia and both of them want nothing more then to find rich husbands and live the good life in America.

So begins the courtship..and a heck of alot more. Need I say that Stan gets way more then he bargains for with his lovely bride? Well..you can figure out that this story is not going to go well.

So there you gave the main plot. And I have not even got to Holly and Brent and Tyler Priest. All play significant roles in what is to come . So do the real housewives of Beverly Hills.

So..my thoughts..I liked the book. In one aspect, I liked it alot. It sure kept me reading. And the plot is fascinating. It's different. And the writer does a great job with the characters. Stan is one of the most exasperating characters I have read about in quite awhile.

There is also a twist that nobody will ever be able to see coming and it is just so well written. Kudos for that. Wow!

But I also have some negatives about Lethally Wedded. One is that it is very wordy and it need not have been. I think it was a bit long and it is repetitive in many ways. But more importantly was the sex.

I have no issue with sex in books. None. But I mean..this was everywhere. I should warn you if you do not like raunchiness in your books maybe pass this one by. And I have no issues with sex in books as I said. It is the QUANTITY that bothered me.

I wanted more about the characters themselves. Holly in particular was a character I felt was underused. But there were pages and pages of sex. Tatiana is a very sexual person. OK. I get that. But anymore about her nipples and her feeling like she needs more sex or marveling over who is good in the sack and who isn't and feeling flushed and all the places she does it..well..it turned me off. I'd have liked to see at least some of those pages devoted to the characters themselves. I skimmed 90 percent of the sex scenes which seemed to take up almost half the book.

Ending I felt was powerful but I wanted more. I hope there is a part two with less sex and more focused on other characters. I would read a part two because despite everything I did like this book.

What a fast read! This book was 100% better than I thought it would be. The characters were disturbing and cool- everything just worked. It was some what raunchy which made it even better. I would love to read more like this from J.A. Jones!

LETHALLY WEDDED

Tatyana just wanted a better life; and she wanted it in California. Born in the Ukraine, Tatyana struggled every day to just survive. Her job at the local market barely paid enough to keep her fed, without adding in the costs of rent and clothing. The bread lines, meat lines, gas lines… often by the time Tatyana got to the head of the line, there was nothing left. She often went hungry. So… what’s a girl to do?
Stan Sutherland was a middle aged, middle class man that had been frugal his entire life. He knew how to squeeze a penny until Lincoln’s eyes bugged out; a house, 7 acres of land, a car, all paid for, and has a comfortable nest egg set aside. But Stan was lonely. Ten years ago, Stan had divorced his wife, who had become addicted to pain killers, and refused to give up the pills. Stan was tired of coming home after a long day on the road, selling cleaning supplies, to just his cat Bernie.
A friend of Stan’s suggests a “mail order bride” site from the Ukraine. The women are stunning, and eager to emigrate to the US. Stan decides to give it a try, and makes an immediate connection to Tatyana. Sparks quickly grow into an inferno, and Stan can’t wait to meet Tatyana and see if they’re compatible….
Holly, Stan’s best friend, urges caution. Holly’s concerned that Stan is being taken in by a pretty face and fantastic body. There’s something about Tatyana that’s setting off alarm bells in Holly’s mind…. It might be her frosty attitude towards Holly, the smile that doesn’t reach her eyes; perhaps it’s the way that Tatyana has already changed Stan…. Stan appears to be completely besotted with Tatyana, and has thrown all caution to the wind.
But all isn’t as it seems with Tatyana. She has a way of bending the truth, tying it into knots, and convincing Stan that her words are gospel. And then there’s Tatyana’s best friend, Juliya, who was left behind in the Ukraine. Juliya is brash, bold, cold and calculating… and all about getting back to Tatyana; to be with her again…. Forever…

This is one twisted tale. The convoluted plot is a bit difficult to follow at times, as is the switching back and forth POV. There are some flashbacks occurring as well. Explicit sexual scenarios throughout with various characters, with an unexpected ending. I couldn’t decide if this is truly an end, or the lead in to a subsequent book.

I want a t-shirt for finishing this story! I really feel like I deserve some sort of reward for finishing this story since the story itself didn’t provide any. This tragic tale of mail-order bride woe is narrated in the first person with different characters telling their part of this lackluster yarn. DWM, Stan, fifty-something lonely man seeks SWF bombshell for marriage sex and citizenship… no mystery here.

Stan meets Tatiana online. She’s living with her friend Julia in an apartment managed by Victor after the death of her husband Boris. So you can see the level of imagination we have going on here… I would not be surprised if in the first draft of this, Julia was named Natasha.

So, Tatiana come to America and between the luxury brand product placements and commercials for Costco… a story is told. Boy meets girl, girl meets dog trainer, girl meets love of her life rock star, boys rich mother dies, girl plans to kill boy… and at this point Stan is so poorly defined, I really don’t care if she offs him or not. These characters are so flat that I’m hoping for a quick death so I can get out of this book that much quicker.

I should have shelved this book halfway through. But, it has one saving grace… it’s lack of depth and detail makes it very skimmable. So, in for a penny, I stayed to see the big ‘twist’ at the end… I’m not going to spoil it here, but if I did… you would thank me for not letting you experience this lack of a mystery for yourself.

“Are you really sure about this?” Holly said as she picked at her premade Costco salad of kale, tomatoes, and something that looked like grass.
“It’s just a ninety-day fiancé visa,” I said as I picked up my slice of greasy pepperoni pizza. Costco made arguably the world’s best pizza, mozzarella cheese melted just right, a tiny bit burnt, the crust crunchy. For only $1.99 a slice! The generous slice of pizza completely covered the paper plate. It was like getting half a pizza for $1.99. Such a deal. I took a bite and wiped at my mouth with a paper napkin as the grease threatened to drip down my chin. “I’m just bringing her over for a visit. You’ll get to meet her, tell me what you think.”
“What about the ring?”
“I just wanted an excuse to see you at my favorite lunch spot,” I said, treating her to one of my killer smiles.

This is definitely NOT the sexy surfer romance trope I have come to expect from Jennifer Jones. No, this is a sexy, dark, twisted, psychotic thriller of a story that has you wondering just what will happen next, skillfully leading you to a hella ending. WOW!! Jennifer has written a convoluted tale of a marriage of convenience, an insanely jealous "best" friend, the poor schmuck who falls for the lovely mail order bride, his best friend who is a surfer girl, and the hapless rock star who gets caught in a murderous love triangle.
Tatyana just wants a better life and she wants it in California. Living in the Ukraine, she and her best friend, Juliya, are barely scraping by. At Juliya's suggestion, the stunning Tatyana posts a profile on a mail order bride website and is chosen by Stan Sutherland, a middle-aged, middle-class, unassuming guy who has been divorced for 10+ years and just wants to be loved. Although Tatyana dreams of lavish clothes, expensive jewelry, and a big BMW, her California reality is a double-wide on 7 acres outside of L.A., but she fakes her way into marriage. Stan's best friend, Holly, sees through her duplicity and warns Stan of her suspicions. This is when the story really starts to burn up the pages!!
Tatyana dallies with a dog walker and flees when she discovers that Stan has had her followed and runs into Tyler Priest, rock god. She, for real, falls in love, buuuut, she is relentlessly pursued by a maniacally jealous lover. The ending is unforgettable and I did not see that coming!!
Because of the slow start, I gave this thriller 4 stars, but the writing, characterization, backstory, convoluted plot, dialogue, and scorching sex scenes make this a nail-biting read. Lethally Wedded is itself a backstory to her previous book, Riptide of Romance. With Lethally Wedded, Jennifer Jones has demonstrated her writing prowess and is now on my short list of my one-click authors!

Unbelievable... At first I was sorry I chose this book to review as it is not my usual genre. It took me several attempts to get through the first half of the book. However I made aa commitment to read and give an honest review. It wasn't until I was at sixty percent through the book that the it really, really grabbed my attention. If you can judge how well a book is written by the way one reacts, then this is an excellent book. I totally had so many different reactions, from disgust, dislike, apprehensiveness, suspicion, annoyingly unpleasant, creepy, suspenseful, confused, shocking, sad, just to name a few. I could never have predicted the ending. My mouth dropped open when I was reading it. I could not believe after all that the characters went through it ended the way it did. There were multiple P.O.V's which lent to the mystery of the story. The characters were so well written you either liked them or you didn't. You either felt sorry for them or you didn't. There was no grey area in this book. It is strictly black or white. I highly recommend this book. Like I said not really my usual genre but I am so glad I finished the book. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book and here is my honest review.
This book had me captivated from the first word until the last. The twist at eh end was one I didn't see coming and I am usually very good at pick things up.
Tatyana lives in the Ukraine and her best friend Juliya suggested she put herself on a mail bride website and travel to America to live the life she has seen on the American shows they watch. Stan is looking for love again after he lost his first wife to drugs. His best friend Holly and his mum try to warn him off bringing Tatyana over.
Once she arrives and they get married she plots and plans with Juliya's help to get money, she hooks up with a few others during the course
of the story but what happens at the end is so unexpected and you start looking at the whole thing completely I am really looking forward to the next instalment of this story and urge anyone who likes romance with a bit of drama and a twist then this is the book for you.

Looking for a better life, away from working hard and fighting for all she has, Tatyana decides to become a mail order bride. Stan is a lonely, hard working, man who wants to be loved and not just by his cat. The wedded life is not all Tatyana thought it would be and has no problem looking elsewhere. That is until Stan finds out and all is threatened to be taken away. This book is full of plots and sub-plots, twists and turns. I felt that the characters were developed and complex, but I never really attached or connected to any, which may have been intentional to make them more complex. I had a difficult time getting through the first half, but felt the second half of the book was better and there’s an interesting ending. Overall I rate this book 4 stars, mainly because of the writing.

This is a brilliantly written story about 2 psychotic women, Tatyana and Juliya, and a pitifully sad man, Stan. It also has a huge twist at the end that I never saw coming. Stan is a man who wants someone to love who will appreciate all he does for her, and he relies on a tarot card reader for advice about Tatyana, so he decides to marry Tatyana. Tatyana just wants what she thinks all American men give their wives, money. So she marries him. Things go very bad from there and Stan gets walked all over. Meanwhile, Juliya is telling Tatyana what she needs to do to get Stans money, but Tatyana thinks she's doing fine all by herself. It's an intense and fascinating story with some really insane characters.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.

Stan has had it with the dating scene and relationship fakery in Southern California. He's had his heart broken one to many times. He decides to check out UkrainianBrides.com to find a mate. He looks around and focuses on Tatyana who seems to fit the bill for him. Her dream has been to come to America and live like a wealthy American. She has secrets that you will discover as you read the book, but so does Stan. Can either trust the other? What moves them? Please read it and find out. I knocked off half a star for the story being very complex to follow and my inexperience and like of this genre. Overall a fine story that keeps one wanting to find out what comes next. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The story is well written and thrilling. The characters are developed but not always likable. The author insert the POV'S of the characters so that they have more depth. The plot flows well with the story and is filled with twist. The ending is a surprise that you don't see coming and I like that it wasn't predictable. This is my first story by this author and it wont be the last. I received an ARC and voluntarily leaving a review.

Excellent contemporary book. Tatyana was tired with all the daily problems in the UK so when her friend talked her into becoming a 'wife by hire', mail order bride. The first part of the book I wasn't sure if but the second part was Stan, who was lonely an didn't like the digital or personal ways of getting a wife. He never saw what was coming. This is an excellent suspense romance. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review.

Wow, twist, turns, lies, mystery, and more. We have Tatyana, Julia and a few others from Ukraine. We have Stan, Holly, Tyler, and more from America. We all have baggage, but we’re does it lead us? We have all been hurt, but how do we handle it? Who are our real friends and loves? Who are a our real enemies? Do we really know are family and friends or are they strangers? I received an arc copy for my honest review.

I voluntarily read and reviewed this as an ARC

If you love psychological thrillers this is a definite must read. J.A. Jones has a spectacular debut novel that kept me on the edge of seat and my emotions bouncing like a rubberball in an enclosed room. There were times I wanted to cradle Tatyana and shake Stan then in the next breath do just the opposite. I never knew what was going to happen next! At the end of this story my heart was pounding and my feelings were so scrambled I didn't know whether to cheer, cry or scream. In a nutshell, this is one I will read over and over.
