A Great Read!
I believe Dr. Donahue is on to something with his book "Building Leadership Competence". As someone who has had several types of leadership throughout my working career, I can attest to the fact that the best leaders are the ones that know and have strived to improve themselves. The way they think is also something to be admired. I have friends that are supervisors and I am always saying that the way they think is something I do not feel I can emulate as my brain just does not think in that way. But after reading this book, I feel like I could learn to do what they do. I know I am good at training because I learn the material quickly and can teach it when necessary. I am competent in writing rules and procedures and it is through this that I learn. While I may not desire to become a leader at this time, this is a book I will go back to once I am ready. I recommend this book, especially if the reader wants to improve as an elder or see what it can take to become one.

The motivation I was looking for
Perhaps there is not just one way to build great leadership skills and to stimulate and accelerate professional development. However, Dr. Wesley Donahue in his book “Building Leadership Competence: A Competency-Based Approach to Building Leadership Ability” shares original thoughts and innovative ideas that could definitely help even the most lost and unfortunate souls.
In a fast paced, ever changing world, the idea that truth comes from only one source is over and done with.
There are millions of people ready to share their brilliant points of view and valuable experiences, and Dr. Donahue is one of them.
From this wonderfully organized book, I learnt to succeed and to take the best out of me. This is why I believe this reader is for curious and lively minds who are ready to do well.

Nowadays, there is a growing movement to transition away from seat-time and move towards a flexible structure that allows employees to progress in their skills, which is oftentimes at their own pace. This movement is known as competency-based education (CBE). In “Building Leadership Competence” author Donahue teaches us more than 30 competencies to take into account to go from where we are to where we want to be.
One of the things that I liked the most about this book is that Dr. Donahue was very precise and concise in explaining the different competencies. Another thing that I liked is that there are worksheets where we can write, for example long-term actions, the concepts learned, etc.

Author Donahue did a very good job writing this guide to help achieve success. Although I believe it is a bit long, I think that it is full of information which was carefully and clearly written so that everyone can enjoy it.

I really enjoyed reading Building Leadership Competence, written by amazing author Dr. Wesley Donahue. This is the perfect guide to learn how to be successful.
This interesting book allowed me to assess my own leadership skills and learn how to show employers that I am the person they want.
By reading this great book my life has improved significantly. I have gained the confidence to get the job I really wanted and became the leader I knew I could be.

“Building Leadership Competence” is a great guide and reminder about what we need to work on to reach the goals we set for ourselves without giving up in the process.
The author managed to cover, in these 35 competencies, everything we need to know to achieve greatness. He was also able to make concrete definitions and describe knowledgeable skills to apply in whatever case we need.

This book gives an approach about leadership that proves to have been a success for many people. “Building Leadership Competence”, written by Dr. Wesley E. Donahue, is a really interesting book.
This is a guide with knowledge and tools that I believe will be really helpful to me. It is clearly written and with simple language. Apart from that, every section is well developed and clearly explained.
It is the first book I read written by Donahue, and I bet it will not be the last one. I completely recommend reading this book because I found iit to be really helpful and inspiring.

A True Practical Guide
This is not a book this is a guiding light for those who are willing to understand their current proficiency level and want take it to next level and for those do not have knowledge about proficiency. Strongly recommend for leaders of all type so that they can take their ability to next level.

An excellent book, it is a practical exercise in leadership and combines theoretical and practical aspects. We need training workshops to apply the wonderful concepts in this book.
