1.5 Not For Me Stars

Private Prick was my first book by Ember Cole and it really didn't work for me. The first few pages in I felt like something was off. It felt awkward. But I pressed on wanting to give this book a fair try. It never really got better for me. I had to force myself to finish it. I didn't hate it but I didn't like it. Adam was okay for me. Nothing special but okay. Bekka on the other hand took this book from boring to annoying in 5 seconds flat. She was just so stupid. She was like "I'm trying to find a real connection, but all I find is losers!" She was going around sleeping with, and having oral sex with men within minutes of meeting them and she was surprised that they hit it and quit it? Trying to find the real thing on Tinder... really? Don't go looking for a man at a bar and be shocked if you find a alcoholic. I'm totally cool if you want to go out and have sex for the enjoyment of it. But don't go handing your shit out like it's gum and then be all like "All I find is dogs? Where are all the real men?"

Bekka came off immature like a high school girl trying to play like a grown woman. Oh and she was a bitch. At least She had condoms. Score one for safe sex. Still it's hard to feel bad for a woman that was upset that her "boyfriend" had a fiancée when she was five minutes into meeting the hero in the elevator, and she was letting him go down on her. Other than the absurdity of Bekka and her boyfriend issues, the book felt forced and rushed. I didn't feel a connection between the H&H nor did I personally feel a connection to the book. It kinda came off like a awkward porno where the plumber comes to fix the pipes and gets his "pipe" clean instead. It was a bit cheesy at times.

I believe I have a second ARC book for her but this one was a miss for me.

This was a fast paced and addictive read!
Overall, I felt it lacking in development a bit sometimes and I guess that’s maybe because I was expecting more pages? The story was over before I was expecting it to haha! That’s why I gave it 3 stars. It was really fun, sexy and addictive but it isn't a story that’ll stay with me for long I guess, because there wasn’t a really in-depth story line you know? Just a perfectly fun, sexy and romantic story to read in between! Nothing wrong with that though because I enjoyed it immensely!
Bekka was one hell of a fun main character. I loved her feistiness and her little outburst. Her yelling in that elevator, cursing to the heavens brought a huge smile to my face haha. And there were many moments after that, in which she made me smile. She's just wonderful!
And Adam was such a sexy sweetheart. I love love love those male characters who are sexy AF but have a vulnerable side as well. He was so lovable! But I do think the characters lacked some depth as in; I missed more background story to them. I definitely wish there were more pages added to the story but alas.
The romance itself starts off as insta-lust and the chemistry between Adam and Bekka is so well written down I think! It was so palpable and hot and... I was just so frigging hooked from beginning till end. The banter between these two, the chemistry between them and the sexy times are just to die for!
I can’t wait to read more by this author because the talent for writing addictive romance reads is definitely present!

Hm. It wasn't too great. Book one and three were really awesome, but this one missed the mark for me.
Even though I loved the charaters separately, they didn't make much sense together. Everything happened way too fast and the connection felt forced...
But I'm stil loving the author and going to read more by her.

Super fast read and steamy hot.

I am liking this new author I discovered! These One Handed Reads are full of heat for a quick mental break and quite of bit of sweat!
I started with Stiff Discipline, which was about Dad. Private Prick is all about the son. A delicious hunk of a guy who is so totally sweet!
This story was a hot flash in the pan, but it was lacking a bit in the creativity department. I am not looking for a full novel in a novella, but for some reason Dad had much more going on than sonny boy. Or maybe it was the fact the Bekka came off as sort of trampy. She was not a favorite of mine.
This is a fun story full of insta-lust and action. Just don't look for more than what it is.
I am loving Ember Cole and these hella hot quickies! Now off to find another!

At the beginning of the book, we meet Bekka. a young lady who just found out her boyfriend is actually engaged to someone else. Don't you hate when that happens? I know I do! She's taking the elevator up to her apartment when it stops and she realizes she's stuck. Obviously being stuck in an elevator is a great time to think about things, maybe even express all the things you didn't get a chance to tell your scumbag ex-boyfriend.
"Fuck you and your stupid tiny penis. Fuck you and your 'you came, right?' after thirty fucking seconds when, no, dumbshit, of course, I didn't come. Are you kidding me?"
That's when I knew Bekka and I needed to be BFF's - I'm pretty sure I've yelled those exact words... Anyway, she's yelling all this in the broken elevator when Adam literally drops in to save the day. By save the day, I mean give her lots of orgasms. Which is precisely why I've just added the elevator to the list of bookish places I want to do naughty things.
Private Prick was a very short book. It only took a couple hours to read. It was steamy as heck, you may want to have a fire extinguisher nearby in case your kindle explodes. We got to know Bekka pretty well, but I feel like I barely got to know Adam - aside from his incredible sexy-time skills. Which was fine, I'm adult enough to admit it, I didn't pick this book up looking for well-developed characters.
Anyway, this book deserves at least 5 stars because it is responsible for the sexiest bookish line I've ever heard, "I'm spread for him like a dirty book, and he's primed to lick every word off the page." Seriously, who goes on Tinder looking for happily ever after? I've never gone the Tinder route, but from what I understand, no one's on there looking for a relationship. So why is it that Bekka used the app almost religiously, but was surprised not to find true love? I found it hard to connect with her character. I didn't dislike her, but I didn't like her either. I got that she was a young adult, but she seemed to be struggling with what it meant to be an adult. Sleeping around with a lot of men did not an adult make.
As for the male protagonist, Adam, I think his character came off a bit more clearly. It was easier to understand his perspective and feel something for him. I wasn't a raving fan of his either, but that was due to not really getting the opportunity to know what made him... him. These characters lacked depth, Bekka most of all, and so I was heavily relying on the plot to really sell this story. I'm not sure it worked.
This story was read really quickly. All events happened over the span of days. This couple went from an antagonistic greeting (Bekka) to a happy-to-meet-you love fest to an emotional rejection to a happy for now ending. Somehow, despite its one-dimensional characters and uninspired plot, this book was written really well. That was one of the first things I noticed actually. It was written by someone who knew what they were doing and it showed.
In all honesty, I wasn't a fan of this story but I can see how someone else would love it. There was a preview of the previous book included at the end and I think that one was more my speed. I was more captivated by that glimpse than I was by this entire book. So I'll be reading that one for sure!

I just don’t love this book. I loved book one and couldn’t wait for Bekkas’ book. There were some steamy parts, and I did like Adam, but it fell flat.

Even though, this is the second instalment in Ember Cole's "Carnal Mischief" series, it can be read as a standalone. I read this book first, and I had no problem keeping up as each book has a new set of leading characters.
Bekka Zoler is having a pretty lousy day. First she finds out the guy she's dating is actually engaged, seething she enters the elevator to get away. Only to be stuck, when the elevator breaks down.
Adam is the night and shining armor that comes to Bekka's rescue when he somehow gets into the elevator, to keep her company. When he enters Bekka's emotions are running high, so he shuts up her ranting by kissing her. Thanks to instant lust and chemistry they find a way to pass the time in the elevator and, later on continues in her apartment.
This is a typical "boy meets girl ⇒ boy and girl hits it off ⇒ girl gets cold feet and F's it all up ⇒ boy forgives girl ⇒ boy and girl live happily ever after" story. It's short and sweet and there's really not a lot to review on or think about.
I would recommend this book to anyone that wants a quick fix of lust and Romance. But if you want something with complex characters, this is not the book for you.

For starters, I received this title from Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.
This story was shorter than what I’d expected. To be clear it is a Novella. I’m a slower reader than most and this book only took have a day for me to read and finish it. That being said, I found I did enjoy this book. I like the emotions that were written into these characters and I love the hot sizzling scenes that make it worthy for those who seek a little bit more that just affectionate glances from our leading characters.
On the more critical side of this, I found at times I had a hard time envisioning the male character as being someone who was the product of a military unit. He acted more at times like a twenty year old than someone who spent four years, or a tour according to the book, in the army. Also an editing error on the first page, I’ll list it here in case my notes do not appear on Goodreads site. It’s in all caps:

Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) Well what to say what to say.. We really didn't have much of a story line and I didn't get the name because Adam was not a prick a however he was previously in the services soooo I am going to assume that is where we get the Private part from..This was an insta-lust story (again not sure I can call it a story. Bekka meets Adam in an elevator she is stuck in and jumps his bones and regrets after she jumps him on her kitchen tables for a whole day..Then back to jumping bones..yeah done..

Another sinfully sexy book from Ember Cole! I loved Bekka in the first book. Her crazyness was something else and I so wanted to see with whom she’ll end up. Adam is the perfect match for her!
She finds herself stuck in an elevator and her claustrophobia is surfacing. Adam comes to save the day and keep her company until it’s fixed. What neither of them anticipated was the instant attraction between them. From the time their eyes meet the air is oozing with sexual attraction!
What I really liked about this book is that it’s not only hot scenes. We get to see the tender and vulnerable side of the characters. Bekka may come out as crazy, superficial and confident but deep down she’s like every other woman with her insecurities and overthinking. Adam has a tender loving side, a side that Bekka sees from the start and that scares her.
It was so good to see them both overcoming their issues and realizing that they are better together than apart. This may be a novella, however the book gave me what I wanted to see and left me wishing for more!!!

It was so good to see them both overcoming their issues and realizing that they are better together than apart. This may be a novella, however the book gave me what I wanted to see and left me wishing for more!!!

A short read, I read by the pool in one sitting. I liked this book better than the first one. I thought Bekka and Adam's story was going to be a lot spicier than that of his dad's story. I liked this plot line more. I just with it was longer.

Private Prick was a fun palette cleanser. I enjoyed Stiff Discipline alot and was curious about Bekka's story. She and Adam were fun and flirty and very sexy. This was great!
When Bekka Zoler decides she's had enough with the dating scene, frustrated and at her wits end, she sees Adam Black and has a random and crazy intense encounter. But when lines are crossed will she give herself the chance to explore a future with Adam without doubts coming into play?

Ember Cole is trying her best to kill me with these stories. One handed reads- that's the truth.
Second book that takes place in the Henderson Heights apartments.
Adam Black is the manager in residence at Henderson and general all around hot as freak man who is a really nice guy with a touch of his Dad's dom gene's. When Bekka gets caught in the elevator and is letting loose ear piercing expletives about her bad day, bad ex, bad life... reminded me a little of nails on a chalkboard until Adam drops in through the ceiling of the elevator to help calm her until he repair people show. Bekka is also a tad claustrophobic. Of course Adam has heard every word she said and knows she's having a bad day and is trying to be nice to her, she's not having that either. Finally the two entertain themselves otherwise while waiting right up until the moment.... yeah you know... the elevator gets fixed. So they move this to Bekka's apartment. Her roommate practically lives with Adam's Dad now, so she's not around. Adam likes Bekka. Honestly that one is beyond me, but that's me. When he tries to suggest maybe they have dinner, Bekka backpedals and Adam is a little more than miffed. Bekka is once again sitting alone in her apartment wondering why her life isn't a freaking fairytale. When she meets Kymber in a little role reversal from the first book, Kymber knocks some sense into Bekka, not an easy task and Bekka sets out the make things right.
Leaving it hanging because like the others it's a must read. These books are short, hot and just right.

Private Prick is a quick read about a woman who makes bad choices whennit comes to men. Shes not looking for ever after but the jerks in tinfoil have to stop. Thats how she finds herself stuck in the elevator of her building mad, upset, and freaking out.
Adam is takes care of the building for his dad and hes not excited to be goingnto the rescue of the chick trapped in the elevator but dropping in on Bekka, his view is gonna change. What starts out as a sticky situation heats up very quickly.
When they get out the fire is still raging but will they survive the fire? What starts as a few hours stuck in an elevator could lead to so much more if insecurities and other issues can be ignored. Very interesting and i really enjoyed itm

Private Prick is the first book I've read from this author and it definitely will not be my last. I'm excited to read the first book Unlawful Entry because I enjoyed this one so much. Adam and Bekka's characters were great together. Although at times I wanted to shake some sense into Bekka, I still enjoyed her character. This was a steamy story from the very beginning and no only was it steamy, it was also a fun and light story. I found myself laughing out loud and smiling more than once at their actions. This was a great romance read that I think readers will enjoy. Would I recommend this story? Yes. I can't wait to read Unlawful Entry and see what other books I will enjoy from this author.

Bekka is Kymber's BFF and has had a rough go of men. She doesn't realize that there are good men out there. she seems to think no man will drop from the ceiling and fall into her lap. Adam is Daniel's son from the previous book. He seems nice and a gentleman. Bekka has rules and likes to keep them. This book followed the first story line. I would like to have deviated other than how they met and instant fall in love. The read was short, but still just ok I'm my book!

Private Prick by Ember Cole is the second book in her Carnal Mischief series. I didn't read the first book and even so this was easy to read as a stand alone. However, please be warned that this book is very short and ends at the 60% mark with 2 other stories added at the end.
I thought I'd give this book a try as Ms. Cole is a new author to me and unfortunately one of my biggest pet peeves is books that say they are complete but then end abruptly either as a cliffhanger or with other stories to make it a full book. Well, this is one of those books...
Bekka Zoler has just had the date with someone she found on Tinder but guess what he's a cheater. So after getting into the elevator of her building she doesn't expect the elevator to get stuck. Coming to her rescue is the building supervisor's son Adam Black who has had the hots for Bekka and you guessed it their libido goes into overtime so almost sex in the elevator. She has regrets and walks away, Adam doesn't know why but they can't keep their hands off each other.
Inst-love, sex with hot guy and End of story that summarizes the entire book in a couple of paragraphs. For that reason I give the book 3 stars and from now one I'll read the reviews more thoroughly before requesting.

This was a really good quick read. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes a good romance. Bekka and Adam had great chemistry and really meshed together well.

This a quick read, a lot quicker then i expected it would be, so i was a bit disappointed when it ended so soon. I didn’t read the first book in the series so i went in with no idea who these characters where. I loved Bekka and Adam together, and i found myself laughing and smiling quite a bit . Their somewhat insta love was fun to read.
Private Prick is the first book i have read by Ember Cole and it definitely won’t be the last. I was hooked from page one. I definitely want to read the first book now after hearing about Kimber and Adams dad.

Bekka needs to get out of her head. She is an over thinker about everything. Her rant in the elevator over CJ is just distracting enough so she doesn't freak out over being stuck in the elevator until Adam comes to her rescue. Adam and Bekka have such a strong instant attraction and chemistry between them it just hurts on how easily she can dismiss him. But when the pizza delivery guy shows up it sort of gives you more insight into the type of guy Adam really is. He is caring and compassionate despite how they left things. It was great when Bekka finally gets out of her head and follows her heart!

I didn't dislike this book but I didn't really overly like it either. It just seemed like sex scenes without enough of an actual storyline. It was really short too...I wish it was longer and contained more non-sex scenes. Overall I just feel kinda 'meh' about this one.

Private Dick is the second of Ember Cole’s Carnal Mischief series, and I enjoyed this quick read much more than the first of the series. Bekka and Adam had fabulous chemistry from their first meeting and there were fun and humorous moments too. I would have loved the story to be a bit longer, but it was a thoroughly good read despite the novella length.

I really enjoyed seeing Bekka and Adam together. There is no question that the sexual energy between the two of them was intense but I found their vulnerability equally engaging.

After finding out her hookup is actually engaged, Bekka is about to throw in the towel on romance. That is until she gets stuck in an elevator and Adam comes to her rescue. What starts out as an hour stuck in an elevator ends with wild sex. But will the encounter end up in a true relationship? Or just casual sex? Filled with great sex scenes and interesting characters this book was a great read.

Private Prick, is a great quick read. Certainly got me hot and bothered. Bekka is pretty funny too, just makes it even better.
