The Novella was released with the Collector's edition back then and was an exclusive, and its quite a lovely trinket, one of a kind novel for major fans only.
A Witch's tale is a prequel novella set at the time before the main game starts.
I would recommend you to first play the Tales of Berseria since this little story will spoil you for alot of crucial details of the plot and characters motivations and pasts.
The novel opens with Magilou in Titania, (the prison island for all the criminals and demons) and she decide to tell a nearby prisoner a story.
The book venture inside the backstory of mostly everybody except Magilou and it is such a nice surprise to learn about not only of the world of Berseria but a little bit more of our heroes and Villains.
Please, I forsake you to give this novel a try! BUT ONLY AFTER YOU PLAY THE GAME.

To all the tales series fans, this is a lovely accessory that gives more background into the character and their major events that led to their development.

Yet I would not say that it has added depth or content to the level that might tie up the world of Berseria

A fun little addition to the main storyline of the Tales of Berseria video game. I think what I wanted most was a prequel from Magilou about Magilou, but this was good too. Definitely recommend playing the game first if by some strange reason you run across this before you do the game.
