Mindfulness is an ancient practice. Kim Davies describes how to take advantage of Mindfulness in your day-to-day life. Mindfulness isn't a practice but rather a state of mind. It allows you to take a moment as it is and not look to the future or reminisce on the past.
Davies takes her time with the subject, but there isn't a lot to say about it. Mindfulness is something you do. You have to experience it. The easiest way to accomplish this is to focus on your breath. Davies includes different situations where Mindfulness comes in handy. When you wake up in the morning is a great example.
I enjoyed this book. Thanks for reading my review, and see you next time.
I mean like. I get it. I get that this has some valuable information. But I realized about halfway through this book that the mindfulness life is not the life for me. The book was fine. But the actual concepts are a bit beyond what I think is reasonable or even wanted.
Ok so like- I understand it has some important stuff in it. But it also talks to much about doing things deliberately and feeling which is important however it’s overkill to that maximum. I don’t want to feel the space between my toes all the time, of feel the Brussels of my toothbrush every morning and night. It just kind of repeated the same thing through the book as well: • do things deliberately • take time for yourself • notice stuff • don’t expect immediate change Which is all good stuff but not like one hundred pages of it
Simple, easy to read layout. Teaches the background and reasons and benefits to practicing mindfulness. Also give step by step and examples. It makes meditation and mindfulness simple and easily applicable to everyday life. Hopefully I can slow down and learn to notice the NOW - the simple little things that can bring joy.
