“For those ready and willing to build a new life, here are the tools. Powerful, incisive, extraordinary writing.” —Neale Donald Walsch, New York Times bestselling author of Conversations with God
Transform your life with this revolutionary and accessible seven-step guide—grounded in energy medicine, neurobiology, and quantum physics—to awaken your true health and potential through energy healing.
Eighteen years ago, health pioneer and practitioner Dr. Sue Morter had a remarkable and profound awakening. While meditating, she spontaneously accessed an energy field—a level of consciousness—beyond anything she had ever imagined. This dramatic experience changed her life, freeing her from years of struggle and pain.
It also set Dr. Morter on a mission to discover how to create such radical transformation for her patients. Through years of advanced study and research in energy healing and medicine, she developed the Energy Codes, a life-changing program that has now enabled thousands of people all over the world to overcome pain, disease, fatigue, anxiety, and depression, and to awaken their innate creativity, intuition, and inner power.
Bridging ancient healing practices with cutting-edge science, The Energy Codes offers a detailed road map to help you experience deep healing in your life. Grounded in practical, accessible exercises, including yoga, breathwork, meditations, and Dr. Morter’s proprietary B.E.S.T. protocol, The Energy Codes will help you activate untapped energy and neurocircuitry in your body, empower your hidden potential, and become one with your true, essential self.
Prepare to change your life by changing your energy.
Actually this is a ... how to do it book. A book for those that are ready for it. She is one brave Lady to have opened her experiences and her decades of learning and teaching to the general public the majority of which may have little knowledge or interest in the subject. However for those who are searching for a technique that has both a medical, scientific and spiritual proven base this work," The Energy Codes" is pure gold. It is apparent she has down stepped the terminology in her eagerness to share and communicate to a larger audience the connections between body, mind, the breath or as wise men named it, the Holy Spirit. Throw in Quantum Theory, the behaviour of photons, protective personality's and watch happily how she connects the dots. An instruction workbook. A gift!
Energy healing is nothing new. It is as ancient as Bible and other holy scriptures. It is being continuously rediscovered by more and more people searching for deeper meaning of life.
New discoveries continue to lead to the energy field and to a new branch of science called epigenetics – simply put, “our environment is more important than our genetic inheritance.”
The key is to live as conscious energy being. The codes are to help us to shift from Protective Personality to Soulful Self, which can also happen spontaneously. The seven Energy Codes are to help us achieve just that.
There is a lot of explaining instead of getting to the point. I was hoping that once I got to the Energy Codes the information would be more concise. But it was the same execution and at that point I lost my interest. I wasn’t even able to finish reading about the codes and its practices.
I am a huge believer in what is presented in the premise, but the execution is the problem. I have noticed that MD writers are too focused on technical aspect: explaining every step of the way, rather than presenting essence. That’s why I’m at a point that I’d rather read a book that is not focused on some ‘technical presentation.’ As I have noticed those books usually don’t work because of the explanatory writing.
Recently, I have read The Way of the Warrior: An Ancient Path to Inner Peace by Erwin Raphael McManus and that’s a book I would recommend to read instead of one of those technical books.
Because the material and concepts are dense, it took me a while (about 2 monts) to get through this book. At first I was very hung up on the author's tone and how self-aggrandizing she sounded, or how it seemed she took credit for "discovering" or repackaging ancient yogic practices.
However, beyond that, I realized that the content and exercises could indeed be really powerful, and so I urged myself to give her a break, focus on the positive, continue reading and stay open. And I'm glad I did. I've already begun adding the perspectives and practices I learned into action. And I believe it'll be worthwhile to continue integrating the breathing and physical exercises shared (perhaps I'll write an update in a couple months on how it goes).
I will say though, that reading how to do some of the exercises was confusing for me in written form; looking them up on YouTube helped.
The Energy Codes is an interesting blend of meditation, yoga, and energy work the author has designed to support clients with improving their energy, health, and lives. Most of the information won't be new to people already interested in energy work, manifesting, and the idea that your thoughts create your life. I enjoyed reading about specific exercises, such as the Morter March and mPower step (although I don't quite understand how they support the central nervous system).
Readers will appreciate the various exercises associated with each chakra, and ideas for 10 and 30-minute daily practices. I don't think this book offers new information, but rather a new way of integrating practices readers might already have.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The message is beautiful, the passion is there and the subject is interesting, unfortunately, it is a subject involving practices that did not fit very well into the delivery of this book.
The build up and sell of each code outweighed the details on how to practice each code, which often times left me a bit frustrated and losing interest.
This felt like it stumbled into the stereotypical trope of a tabooed “self help” book. Mention the schtick, concrete the image through repetition, supply reader with examples of random humans named Joe or Sally and how is has worked for them. Sell the details just short enough to.. guide the reader online to sell the schtick in a form of different monetary gain.
I do believe attending a workshop or experiencing Dr. Morter’s methods in person would have a profound impact and would definitely be worth investing in. Maybe a second edition committed to a textbook format with more science/description would be a better direction than this current one.
I am definitely left feeling it was a bit disorganized and redundant, not feeling any of the codes stuck or helped out all them chakras of mine. If 2.5 stars could be a thing (which it should be) then that’s where I’d nestle it, cosy in the middle.
I was actually seeking out videos and online live events to watch Sue Morter. She has charisma and I was captured. However, this book dampened my enthusiasm as well as her "spam-like marketing" emails. I am have unsubscribed from everything at this point. I did not read every word in this book - it is far to wordy! And too "my way is the best way" and you have to "jump through 23 hoops while twisting into a pretzel and jumping on your left foot 13 times" type of complexity (this is my silly example - this is not from the book". All this to find the cosmic enlightenment that she found while supposedly jumping through those 23 hoops. There is value in the ideas - I've taken away a few and modified them to "my style and reasonability". I recommend reading it if you have an interest and take my comments with a grain of salt.
My intuition tells me this is snake oil. Reading it felt like an insult to my soul. Anyone can create a system to present as healing energy techniques. It's trying to convince people to believe it works. The author made enough money from people who are so hopeful to find something to help them. This book is hokey. It reads as such and thankfully I don't have to read it again.
In this book, Dr. Sue Morter, introduces seven energy codes for healing and transformation. Dr. Morter integrates these energy codes with Yoga as well. These techniques would be really useful for many people for their healing. But, as a practitioner of mindfulness and insight meditation, IMHO, it makes more sense if you could emphasize into meditation rather than the practices mentioned in this book. For example, Compassion/ Loving-Kindness meditation is more effective than the Heart code practices mentioned in this book. I strongly believe that meditation can give you miraculous benefits for your healing and transformation. And even changing your thought patterns and developing an attitude of gratitude, you can manifest new life.
This is an amazing book. Through this book I have been able to rediscover myself again. After starting to practice these easy exercises I have been able to heal my body and my mind. I feel great every day. I feel I'm a day closer to my greater self and that keeps me going. Everyone should read this book.
I’m unable to give this book a rating. I started out listening on audible then switched to reading and became completely overwhelmed to the point of skimming and marking sections for future reading. The concepts are understandable but the execution of the practices are confusing and not intuitive for me at all. I’m not sure if this is a mental block on my side or poor descriptions on the part of the author...I suspect a bit of both. For now the book is tucked away with many sections marked and I’m moving on to my next book.
I'm not quite sure how to start with this one. This book doesn't fit neatly into a category. It's not exactly a spiritual book, but I think it requires a certain level of belief in the premise if you plan to use the steps outlined within. I did find this book fascinating though. Though most Christians would probably label this book "New Age" there are, in my opinion, some similarities between the Christian concept of the Holy Spirit and this author's description of an energy outside of ourselves that we can tap into to improve our lives. One of the things I liked about this book is that it's written and presented in a very orderly yest easy to read manner. Her descriptions of the steps have enough detail to be replicated while also being concise. There are many stories of people who have used this methodology and seen great improvements in their lives. Will I be trying the methods for myself. Not sure but reading this book has definitely given me food for thought.
I had a hard time with this book. I love books on alternative medicine and energy healing but this book just seemed weighty. I think the author could have done a lot differently. I really liked the part when she finally got to the energy codes but before that it was a bit tedious. I'm in the middle on this book as I loved the information but it was a bit hard to get through.
I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book free of charge. This is my honest and unbiased opinion of it.
I only read 2/3 of the book, however, I just can’t do it anymore and this is coming from a firm believer of energy healing. I appreciate her vulnerability and education, but she seems to be trying too hard to sell her program. The results and promises she offers are extraordinary and I don’t believe the solutions offered are a one size fits all. Some of the theories she suggests may also be unhelpful for those who have suffered trauma in their lives.
Today I gave myself permission to not finish this book. (This is the second time ever I have done this). It had stunted my reading progress. I feel like Dr Sue Morter has put herself on a pedestal and there is a lot of waffling. I tried to persevere, as she did have some interesting concepts, but the thought of picking it back up each time came with dread.
4⭐️ (audiobook) In my experience this book was more effective as an audiobook; however, I did loosely follow along in hard copy as well, so I could make notes for later.
It is a great book if you’re ready for it. I read The Mountain is You, by Brianna Weiss, then You are a Bad Ass, by Jen Sincero and THEN The Energy Codes. Reading these books in that order, helped me change my thinking and my mind was open, so I was able to absorb the content of The Energy Code as it was intended. If you have a closed mind, you won’t get much out of this book. But if you’re willing and able to think outside the box, and remember that your body is simply a vessel (which I think we can all agree on) you might get some positive practices out of this book.
This is not a general self help book that you can consume effortlessly to reach an epiphany about something, simply by consuming the book. It is instructions on how to focus and direct your energy. It will not have the intended effect if you don’t act. For the book to effect you positively YOU have to take action and participate in the practices.
It’s really well organized if you have the patience to consume it. She tells you why for a while before getting to the how. Then when she gets to the “how” section she explains the why in a bit more specifics before getting to the specific practices. It may seem convoluted if you’re not yearning for the information. Unless you’re attending multiple costly in person seminars there’s really no other way of going about explaining and teaching this information.
If you’re open to these ideas you’ll get a lot from this book, but if you’re not open right at this moment, put this aside until you are open to it. You’ll know when you’re ready.
My only criticism is that it seems that these ideas are hundreds of years old, originating in eastern culture and Dr. Sue Morter seems to take credit for these concepts. I give her credit for organizing her writings in this understandable easy-to-follow way though.
To start on a positive, The Energy Code has excellent meditation practices but the reader has to navigate through questionable sections to access it. The first section of the book seems like an infomercial where someone is trying to sell you a product. There are phrase like “if you apply the energy codes [XYZ],” you too can experience [this great thing],” or “when you learn the energy codes you’ll be able to…”. Aside from the infomercial style rhetoric, the author proclaimed that practicing the energy codes makes miracles of healing possible, even so far as to say someone grew their fingers back. That rhetoric resembles radical evangelical sermons with metaphysical idealism, and I almost put it down.
It was the absolutely astonishing meditation practices that kept my interest, and I’ve found myself putting them to practice and finding it easier to manage stress and emotions. I listen to The Energy Codes, and I would get annoyed at the rhetoric and then the author would suddenly info dump A LOT of good meditations practices. She provided a large quantity of deep information in a few minutes, and I’d have to rewind to listen to the practice multiple times. More so, the more I re-listened to a meditation practice, the more I realized I missed. It is very dense information.
The profoundly dense meditation information weaves in and out of terrible rhetoric and it is so profound that I decided buy the book to study each practice individually. I am now going through the process of identifying, marking, and organizing the good information to weed it out of the bad rhetoric. I’m really wishing this author had a better editor to help her convey her methods in a more logical way.
Overall, I highly recommend this book to people who practice meditation or yoga. But my recommendation comes with a warning—there is a lot of muck to navigate in order to access the good information.
The methodology presented in this book is solid. The techniques are useful and do work. However, it was a challenge to finish listening to it, due to author's presentation of the methods as being her own. As the book progresses a highly inflated ego emerges. In my experience someone that is truly awaken has long shed this level of ego. Being the material is good, I am giving the presentation the benefit of the doubt and will listen to other books by her. We have all misunderstood where we are on this journey. Learning and growing is the fun of it all.
Not sure how to rate the book. So it’s basically chakras I think but re-framed in a more modern “medicine” package. Seems to kind of over- promise - this work will cure your every ill, give you boundless energy, etc. But maybe it was a failure in implementation on my part. Probably would be better to have the written book to refer back to - I listened to the audio version. Intrigued by her personal stories, especially the four-leaf clovers story. Also her “take it to the body” message was good.
The first 25% of the book was a lot of repeat stories and over-arching topics. But the actual chapters with activities, exercises, and inquiries were wonderful. If I had to do it again, I would read the first few pages of chapter 1, and then just go right into the actual code chapters.
All that said, imagine the effort of trying to summarize your life's work + your father's life's word into one book. What an incredible gift to us all!
I couldn't finish this book. I am very much into energy, meditation, chakras, etc. but this book was so complex it seemed to make something that I can easily practice every day into something very complicated and I kept thinking "who would have the time to do all of these steps?". It's just not realistic to follow for me. The exercises themselves have a lot of power to them, but the steps seem unrealistic.
i cant believe this took me three months to read. but i would definitely recommend this book to people who are really trying to get deeply connected with yourself and need some guidance with your healing. Dr Sue Morter shares some of her personal experiences, some ways you can help live a better live with using the energy codes and it really is such a good book. it was worth the read!
Excellent examples of how to understand and work with our energy system. I took my time reading and digesting the information. Dr. Sue really loves humanity and is doing her best to show us how to be in charge of our own well being. Loved the personal stories she included!
I listened to this audiobook and I’m glad I did because I feel like I got a better sense of what it was saying. Super interesting and it makes you think about everything around you and the natural world.
The stuff isn't entirely inaccurate, but it's inaccurate enough that it's problematic on its own. But when all that's mixed with real sciences as well, it becomes a place where if you don't understand the sciences behind these things, it gets really problematic. Because you can go around with like hearing something that's real, and then you think, oh, yes, I get it. So this is how this works. But it's like, no, it's not. She just made stuff up. Because her answer was her dad and mother and her are all energy scientists. No, you're not. Not even what energy is. Her answer behind a lot of this stuff is just because. Your answer to these things is just because. That's not real. We have real basis for a lot of this stuff too. And if you would have followed either your made-up crap or real science, it would have been better. Because when you mix the two, it just becomes really hard for uninformed people to draw a line and understand anything that you're giving them.
I found out about this book from the wrestler Ryback of all people. He was on a podcast and said it was one of the books which had a big impact on him, so I thought I’d give the audiobook a try. At first I wasn’t sure on the whole energy idea but the advice she gives and practical exercises you can do I will most definitely have to try and incorporate in some way.
I have been trying to recently get to a better state mindfully and physically. Hearing her discuss meditation and yoga has motivated me to look at how I can better utilise and add these practices into my life.
The fact she mentions love as a powerful energy to us and how it can be seen as an open emotion which is open to different opinions, compared to how a negative emotion can be consider narrow and closed of opinion. It really struck a cord with me and in the end this book gave me a lot to question about myself and opened me to invest and learn more about yoga which I will take time to take up. I also want to get the breathing exercises inserted into my daily practise as it I feel it will help with every day stresses we all face.
One last thing she said that id like to note is she mentions that we get stressed with future events and lose sight of the present. Dr Sue Morter mentions if you ask yourself how you feel at the current moment you will almost always say you are fine. I always look too far ahead and stress of tomorrow instead of enjoying the now so this practise of staying in the present was a real helpful piece of advice.
Energy healing is nothing new but Dr Sue Morter presents it in a way that is very absorbable and practical for western life.
It’s a how to guide, which uses the backing of Dr Morters’ decades of experience in practice.
She identifies how meditation, yoga, daily Movement and breath-work combine as part of energy work, with focussed attention on the chakras and central channel breathing, along with various techniques for conscious breathing and shifting of latent and trapped energy that is residual within our bodies and can cause problems through blockages that can - she suggests - even lead to disease. Her clinical practice, experience and the literature, not least ancient practice, all provide a strong body of evidence to support healing.
She also delves into the other key factors you would expect for healing - mindset, lifestyle, exercise and diet.
I read through this book before deciding whether or not to attend a workshop based on it. I only did two of the exercises: hence my low rating, because only by following the instructions and doing everything along the way would I know how well it works. That said, I think it CAN work, as it is based on what I already know to be true about energy, chakra-based healing, breathing, and meditation; it's just put together in a "system" that Morter calls the energy codes. If you don't already have a practice that works for you, try it, but, unlike me, go through it slowly and practice every exercise as instructed.
I learnt a lot whilst reading this book and will be integrating the practices into my daily life. I found the link between spirituality and the quantum field very interesting and how our spiritual energy affects our physical body.
I did find it difficult to keep track of all of the practices in the book, however, I would recommend checking out the online resources as this helped me to bring everything together in a practical way. I would recommend this book to anyone open-minded and willing to explore the potential of the energy codes.
