From beloved author/illustrator Nicola Killen comes an enchanting spring story about a magical friendship between a little girl and her stuffed rabbit who comes to life, lovingly told and illustrated in limited color with lovely foil and interactive die cut pages.
Ollie and her favorite friend bunny have been waiting for the rain to stop and spring to come, and at long last the sun arrives. Ollie puts on her rain boots, wraps bunny in a warm scarf, and the two set off for exploring. Then a sudden breeze whispers past and bunny’s nose twitches and their magical adventure begins…
The Little Rabbit is sure to enchant and charm young readers and is great for sharing with a friend.
Ollie and her bunny pal can't wait for the rain to stop so they can head outside for an adventure. And, what an adventure they have! The book features sweet illustrations by the author.
This book was on the book truck of new materials to check in. I was immediately attracted to it and knew I had to bring it home to enjoy during a quiet time. The story is just so gentle and engaging and the illustrations are truly captivating. My favorite lines: "Does that tickle, Bunny?" Ollie laughed. A tiny petal had landed on his nose." The tiny petals are golden and have a texture for little fingers to explore. Also, there are several cutouts here and there throughout which add another dimension. Overall, a delightful book to share with little ones.
Ollie is so glad the rain has stopped. Off she goes with her toy rabbit to splash into the puddles. But suddenly something happens...Bunny's nose twitches...his ears begin to move...and off he hops!
Ah, at last. A child with imagination!
This is a story I hope children will hear if they are ever to free themselves from the constraints of technology upon their growing minds. It's a delightful little romp with a child and toy, filled with dangers and rescues and adventures.
I didn't really like this one. It's about a little girl named Ollie who goes outside with her toy rabbit. A magical gust of wind turns the toy into a real rabbit, and it hops off to play. Ollie spends the rest of the book chasing it.
While the illustrations are cute, the story and writing leave something to be desired. The plot is very juvenile, and yet the story culminates with the child jumping out of a tree with an umbrella as a parachute (which is probably not behaviour you'd want your kids emulating).
While I appreciate the premise, I just didn't like this particular execution. Especially the part with the little girl jumping out of a tree.
Irresitible Spring or anytime picture book. A sweet story that children will love. The illustrations are soft and adorable. Gold detail throughout. The image shown does not do the book justice. The Little Rabbit would make a great holiday present in addition to the usual chocolate bunny :) One of my very favorite Spring 2019 releases.
Ce livre est tellement mignon, mon dieu que c'est beau. J'avoue avoir un énorme faible pour cette histoire, ayant moi-même eu comme toutou préféré un lapin 💚🐇
With imagination under the rabbit ears, this read hops into an exciting adventure and invites to dream.
Ollie and her toy bunny can't wait for the rain to stop, so they can play outside. When they venture out into the still wet and breezy world, something terrible happens. Bunny finds itself in a difficult predicament, one that Ollie's not sure she can save him from. But then, every good adventure stretches imagination to its limits.
The moment I picked up this book, I could tell it was done with care. Not only because of the fun story which truly invites to imaginative adventure, but also thanks to the extras in the pages. Little windows are cut out here and there to allow the reader a 'peek' through to the other page. Golden, metallic touches scattered between the pages give it a sense of quality and add a nice variety. The illustrations are mostly down in shades of grey and white, allowing the small dabs of color to accent in just the right places. The book simply invites young listeners to flip through the pages on their own after the story is read to them.
The tale itself is an adventure. Ollie is a cute girl who has an obvious loves for rabbits. She's even adorned in a rabbit costume. Her adventure outside illustrates her joy for simply playing in nature, an aspect especially important to remind kids of in these modern times. While the rabbit does find itself in a dangerous situation, its enough to jack the tension up high without crossing a border, which might scare more sensitive readers. After that, the story takes flight and lands into pure fantasy with twists which surpass logic and land into joyful fun.
It's a great read before bedtime and is a fun read. I received a complimentary copy and enjoyed it quite a bit. So cute!
First sentence: Ollie and her toy bunny had been waiting for the rain to stop for a long, long time.
Premise/plot: Ollie has quite an adventure with her bunny after the rain stops. But is her bunny a toy or a real bunny?
My thoughts: This little picture book is a lovely celebration of imagination. I enjoyed the text, I did. But I really loved, loved, loved the illustrations. Together the story they tell is fun.

This was SUCH a sweet story about a little girl who explores the outdoors with her bunny. The illustrations are beautiful grey, green, and yellow and the cut-outs are very cute.
Dressed up like her favorite stuffed animal, Ollie runs outside her house to play in the rain with her stuffed Bunny in tow. When a magical breeze passes by, Bunny hops out of the basket and runs away with a group of rabbits. From a daring rescue to a trip in the clouds, Ollie and Bunny have an adventure-filled afternoon in the rain. Bunny stories and stuffed animal stories are already in abundance, but Killen's simple color palette and the joy of imagination allow this book to bound above the rest.

This is an adorable springtime story about Ollie and her stuffed rabbit who magically comes to life. I enjoyed the magical elements in the story because they remind me of child like faith - believing anything is possible. It captures so many elements of spring: the bright blooming flowers, rainy days, breezy weather, and frolicking wildlife. The die cut pages also keep your attention on what lies on the page. It is such a cute story!
If you celebrate Easter it would also make a great addition to an Easter basket, if you are doing a bunny/spring theme.
Another story of a little girl using her imagination. Been done before. The illustration are nicely done. The minimal colors make this different from a 'BOLD' story, but at the same time, this too has been done before. I probably would have enjoyed this a lot more if I had read it before reading a lot of similar stories.
Fans of Harold and the Purple Crayon will enjoy this adventure of a girl and her bunny. What starts as a simple day splashing in puddles soon turns into adventure as the stuffed bunny becomes real and leads the girl through the woods and into the clouds. The girl must be brave and find their way back home.
I’ll be honest... I don’t think I got this one. It’s cute in its premise of a girl and her toy rabbit that may or may not be alive going out and playing in the rain. However it was rather bland for me. That said it had some super cute cut outs and GOLD FLAKES!!! in the book but a pretty book doesn’t make for a great story. At least for me.
Do you believe in magic? Do you believe a tiny flower petal's magic could transform your favorite stuffed animal into a live friend? Ollie's toy bunny comes alive when a tiny flower petal touches her nose. From that point on Ollie and Bunny have quite an adventure. Magic plus adventure plus friendship make this a wonderful story.
This heartwarming story follows a girl and her plush rabbit that are so excited it finally stopped raining so they can go outdoors to play. This book's whimsical illustrations alone make it worth picking up. Paired with the childlike imagination (the best kind) found at the heart of this story, make it irresistible. We are huge fans of Nicola's and highly recommend picking up her books.
how will i pick a favorite?? these are too darling ...great illustrations, fun read ...cute, cute, CUTE!! love them so. please check them out and the kindle version is able to zoom in a get close to the illustrations and text. so important when reading a kindle. not all books do this and i find that frustrating. but this one does.
Really cute book - I like the "did it happen/was it a game/or was it magic" aspect of it. That plot device has a tendency to annoy me, but in this case it was done well enough that I just kind of got caught up in it. Love the illustrations.
Read this with my granddaughter. Light tale of spring, showers, blossoms and a rabbit (a toy turned real) on an adventure with his girl. Nice use of gray and gold.
