Kathleen Brooks has done it again, this book is so fantastic. It is the story of Cy Davies who has been away from Keeneston for the past 10 yrs only coming home when someone was in trouble or needed him, he has decided that it is time for him to come home for good and run his farm and be with his family. Gemma an undercover reporter for a gossip magazine get caught up investigating the death of her sister and in running from those who killed her sister runs into Cy. Cy takes her to Keeneston where he knows he has the support of his family (those hunky Davies boys) Cole, Ahmed and the whole town, and this is where the fun begins. This book is action pack, suspenseful, funny (I laughed til I cried), sweet and heartwarming. I love all the little side stories also about the residents of Keeneston. At the end of Dead Heat Kathleen put in a little teaser about the Rose sisters and all I can say is OH BOY the sparks fly for one of the sisters and some of the residents of Keeneston get a little payback lol you must read this book I repeat YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK

Cy and Gemma
I loved and hated this book her loss is so great I don’t think anyone truly understands and Cy well he forgets sometimes that he isn’t who he is pretending to be.

The mystery and murders in this book really bring everything full circle. We understand things a lot better now.
The Roses sisters are still at it and Miss Lilly cracks me up.
Mo and Dani sigh my heart is 2 sizes bigger.

The narration is fantastic!

Loved, Loved, Loved, Gemma's and Cy's story. I cried when Gia was killed and of course, I laughed with the Rose sisters. I love this town and I want to live there, I think most of your fans do. Anyway Cy is a stunt man and CIA and Gemma is a reporter, of sorts , for a popular magazine. Gemma is running from the people who killed her sister, when she literally runs into Cy. As bullets fly around them Cy tries to get Gemma to safety. She tells him her story and he calls a few friends and takes her to Keenston to protect her, while they hunt her sister's killers. Of course as they spend more time together they start to have feelings for each other. Join the townspeople of Keenston and Cy and Gemma on this adventure in Kathleen's new book. It is a really good read

Cy and Gemma. Gemma has the hardest loss and start in the series. Her pain and mission bring you into the story immediately and all the news about Cy answering series mysteries keeps the entertainment going. The danger is clear and connects to my favorite Ahmed. The rose sisters are a delight and all the pregnancies and gossip with the Belles and Kandi keep everyone making bets. The ending shows Cy and Ahmed off and has me ready for Ahmed’s journey since he chose friendship and loyalty over revenge at the end of his book.

Even tho these are all really far fetched for a small southern town I still enjoy them. I like the story line in this one but the lack of grief for her sister really killed it for me. It mentioned her crying here n there but I never felt that much true grief. She seemed more worried about her relationship and the town then the fact that she didn't even get to see her sisters body and say a proper goodbye before she left LA. It was just so lacking I didn't even cry. Not once. I think the most emotion I felt was at Henry's proposal. I know the other books in the series are light reads and obviously romance above anything else. But I wish in this one she would of put romance on the back burner and put grief, loss and rebuilding yourself after tragedy as the main focus.

Just the fact that twin bonds and sister relationships hold a special place in my heart should of had me ugly crying through the whole book. I know the writing isn't top notch but damn...

I guess in my mind if someone has the ability to have an insta-love relationship then they're a person with really strong emotions. But if that person is the same one who isn't being eaten up with grief about their ID twins death then it just doesn't add up right.

I mean good God their attraction started maybe an hour after she seen a picture of her DEAD sister! I hate to even think it but Wtf I would be in shock weeks if not months if I had just seen a picture of any of my immediate family [much less a twin sister who I talk to every single day]. Then I would imagine I'd have to slowly work through the stages of grief before I thought about starting a relationship after my only living relative died!

Overall. This would of been a lot better if she lost her sister months and months before then maybe they just identified her body when all this started, instead of it happening all in the same morning. Then all the stages of grief could of been more worked through and it would of felt more real to me.

Kathleen Brooks’ 5th novel in the Bluegrass Brothers Series, “Secrets Collide” did not disappoint! All I can say is WOW!!! There is nothing like life in the small town of Keeneston, KY. In books 1 through 4 we met the wonderful people of Keeneston, who are hilariously funny, loving, protective, nosey and opinionated. It is yet another story of danger, mystery, intrigue, comedy, love, family values, and a great out-pouring of support for each other. You will laugh and cry, and be completely taken in by the amazing way Kathleen Brooks spins her beautiful stories. Once again, Kathleen continues to incorporate the other family members, which we have gotten to know and love from her previous books, into each one of her new books.
In this book we finally get to know and love the mysterious Cy Davies. You will remember in Kathleen’s Christmas book, Cy popped in to play Santa Clause and quickly left Keeneston for places unknown. Kathleen will finally reveal everything we have been dying to know about Cy! Oh yes, you will be shocked to find out the truth! Cy is finally heading home to Keeneston and he thinks it will be for good. In route home he meets and rescues Gemma Perry, a spunky investigative reporter for a gossip magazine, who is on the run from someone who murdered her sister and is now after her. Typical of the Davies boys, Cy makes it his mission to keep her safe and he takes her to a place he knows she will be safe – his hometown of Keeneston. Gemma will find herself being protected and accepted by every member of this amazing community. So as not to give away any spoilers, I will tell you that “Secrets Collide” will keep you at the edge of your seat. It will make you laugh and cry and you will enjoy every minute of it. Will Gemma and Cy learn to trust each other? Will they find their HEA? Well you will have to read this amazing story to find out!!

Another great addition to a fabulous series! Ms. Brooks has done it again and I'm so glad I decided to pick up the very first book in this series when BN offered it for free. I read it in one day and proceeded to buy the rest of the books that were out and then every installment since.

Lots of action, suspense and mystery. So easy to understand as the readers get to read from different characters POV, not just one. It was so lovely to read about all the kooky townspeople and wonderful to have all recurring characters. I think the only thing that I questioned is how fast Gemma told Cy what was happening to her, they were strangers and she told him everything within seconds of meeting, it was very fast paced.

I enjoy how KB makes her books sexy but without all the crude and crass words, her scenes are always implied, never detailed and I LOVE reading erotica but clean reads that are as good as KBs books are always refreshing to read!

Can't wait for Ahmed's book, he's my favorite character!

I have been waiting what feels like forever for Cy’s story and it was absolutely worth the wait! This is my favorite Bluegrass Brothers book so far (he set the bar pretty high for Ahmed). There was so much in this book, drama, intrigue, romance, car chases….something for everyone (even learning Cy’s full name)! I loved catching up with everyone and how Kathleen seems to be tying up loose ends. I love this series and will hate to see it end but I love how everything is getting tied up so that there won’t be any dangling storylines when it does. I loved how Cy and Gemma interact and how with all the drams going on around them there wasn’t a lot of drama going on between them (I mean there is always some but this wasn’t too crazy). Loved, loved, loved this installment and I’m sure I’ll find myself re-reading it often. I can’t wait to go back to Keenston and see Ahmed get his girl (and his revenge)!

Kathleen Brooks does it again, it was great being back in the Bluegrass Family again. When you start reading the bluegrass books, it's like a giant hug!!!

Cy is the only single Davies man left now, still living away from his family but hoping to return soon.

Gemma is a twin and has had the worst week of her life. She works for a gossip magazine whilst her twin is an journalist. So different but not really!! Gia Gemma's twin is missing!!

With their lives in danger, will Gemma and Cy be able to discover themselves and true love?

I would recommend this series, it's fantastic.

Secrets Collide is the fifth book in the Bluegrass Brothers series (Bluegrass Book #9) by Kathleen Brooks. ‘Bluegrass’ combines romance and suspense, with a touch of Southern charm.
A few years ago a friend recommended this author, and her many series, to me - as she had devoured every book and absolutely loved them, singing the author’s praises from high from the hilltops. So, being an avid reader who loves discovering new authors and enticing reads, I took my friends recommendations seriously, and started amassing Ms. Brooks many books, with the plan to have a huge binge session/buddy read with my friend. But with so many books on my TBR, and new, exciting ones releasing every week, I always seemed to get pulled into other books- as these just kept piling up.
Since part of my yearly reading challenges for the past few years has been to dust off my TBR pile/s and read the books that have been languishing there the longest, I decided to finally dive in and get the series read. While I did ‘enjoy’ the books for the most part- I didn’t fall madly in love with them as my friend promised that I would. But that’s ok, I am really happy that she loves them as much as she does. But for me, they were just an ‘okay’ read.
With plenty of small-town drama, intrigue, angst, chemistry, humour, community, family, friendship, charm, mystery, tension, danger, emotion, and suspense- the stories are about finding love unexpectedly and love conquering all.
The books can all be read as standalones if you wanted, without feeling ‘lost’ or like you are missing big pieces of the picture. This is because each instalment introduces its own ‘couple’- providing plenty of romance, a dash of suspense, and some sweet development to make your heart flutter.
But I have to be honest, I found there were a few issues which detracted from my overall enjoyment of the stories/series. Such as the ‘wordiness’ which really slowed the flow of the storyline at times, as there was such an overwhelming amount of detail which didn’t really ‘add’ to or propel the story in any way, except to perhaps distract from the plot. I love details, normally- but not when there are pages of descriptions, as things tend to ‘bog’ down and the flow/pace/plot gets lost amongst the detritus- and also leads to some ‘wandering’ storylines. There were also many loose ends, for me- threads that were left hanging, or not fully woven into the storyline- which I found a bit frustrating.
I really wanted to love this series as much as my friend did…. but instead, I was left a little disappointed.
Happy reading! 📚💙

Overall Amanda score: A+
This trip to Keeneston we get to finally meet Cy Davies. His name has been dropped in the books before but due to being in the CIA among other things he was unable to return home. That was up until the moment he had to. He runs into Gemma (literally) in a dark alley under heavy gun fire and then swoops her up and her dog and takes a plane back home. This was such a sweet story. I will be honest I was starting to think that the Mr. X was never going to be caught in this book as well, But thankfully Kathleen decided she would make this reader happy. We find that all of his siblings are either pregnant or already have tiny babies, and we see Dani go into labor giving birth to not 1 but twin boys! We see the town bad pick up line man finally proposing to the only woman that could stand him and try to keep him contained, as well as we get to see Miss Lily and John keep trying to hide their relationship in such a cute way. Ahmed still ever silent but still one of my favorite characters has found the one his soul loves but refuses to act on it until he finally catches his biggest nemesis. I know who it is... but I am not telling. I will just put my bet down at the cafe. This series has been a joy to read. I love following these stories because they seem like they could be so real. I come from a smaller town myself but I would move to this town in a heartbeat if all of it was real. I have one more book to read before I am completely caught up with all the different Bluegrass books and with that my heart is breaking. I can not wait for the next ones to hit our library. These books make me smile. So much heart in each one. I love them. Thank you so much Kathleen Brooks for creating this world I want to step right into.

ANOTHER WONDERFUL STORY!!

LOVED this book!!!!! I am losing sleep because of the Bluegrass Brothers series. Once I start a new one I don't want to put it down they are that good! Love all the couple's and family updates! Love the family dynamics.... The support, friendship and humor in these books! The are so sexy yet very romantic at the same time. I liked the mystery in the story..... Kathleen has such a great way of weaving all the different elements of the story together...
The romance, the humor the suspense, the characters and the storyline flows together to make a satisfying and wonderful book! I especially like that the books don't cut off and leave you without the satisfaction of knowing what happened to the main couple next! All in all a very enjoyable read!!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - I LOVE THIS AUTHOR!!

Secrets Collide brings the enigmatic Cy Davies into the spotlight as he returns home with Gemma Perry, a journalist who holds dangerous information that puts a target on her back. Their forced proximity and high-stakes situation make for an electrifying romance as they try to evade a powerful enemy.
Cy is the perfect mix of brooding and protective, while Gemma is witty, independent, and more than capable of holding her own. Their relationship unfolds at a rapid pace, but the chemistry is undeniable. The action is intense, with life-or-death stakes driving the story forward. Some of the suspense elements lean into over-the-top territory, but it’s all part of the fun. The romance is well-developed, and the danger keeps the tension high, making for a thrilling and satisfying read.

Did anyone else find it strange that all the brothers were almost or over 30 before any of them got married and they were all highly successful? (Cade was almost the exception until he won the state football title the first year he was head coach)
Or that most of them all called their women "sweetheart"? I don't think they would all be that similar. Not ever Southern guy uses that pet name.
None of them had ever been divorced or in previous bad relationships. I think she should make her characters a little more relatable in that area.

I loved all their stories but their actually lives seemed weird. Cy was the "black sheep" of the family, but not the kind you expect.

Another great book by Kathleen Brooks in this series about brothers in a small town outside Lexington, Kentucky! What can you say about Keeneston, Kentucky? It's a small town that stand by and protect their own. Cy has finally decided it is time to retire and return home, but before he can even get out of LA, he ends up saving Gemma and trouble follows him home. These stories are written with just the right amount of romance and suspense. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of this series and the books that tie back into this series!

Cy Davies who has been mentioned in all the previous books but is always gone doing stuff he can't talk about. His older brothers were all in the military so they understand but still don't really know what he is doing. No spoiler here you will find out in the first part of the book what he has been up to.

He is now coming home but finds a woman being chased by hit squad so rescues her and brings her back to Kentucky with him as he knows his town is the safest place to be with it's nosey but dangerous population.

Another solid addition to the series.

Book # 5 or 8. Who will the mysterious Cy bring home, what kind of trouble is she in? To me this one seemed a bit more suspenseful than the others. I love how she brought Cy back in, because he has been missing the whole series. Will Gemma turn Cy into a lover instead of a fighter? Happy reading!!
