Ahmed was introduced in the first book of the Bluegrass Undercover series, and has remained a prominent secondary character throughout. I was already in love with the character prior to this book because of his dry sense of humor and how he had been such a good friend to all of the other residents in Keeneston. Brooks has done a great job of creating a character that is one of the most loved in the series, who also happens to be a hired assassin. I had a lot of expectation for Ahmed’s book, and Brooks did not disappoint.
Bridget makes a great companion for a dark character like Ahmed. The mutual respect they have for each other and their abilities makes the relationship work in ways no other relationship could with Ahmed.
I was glad that Brooks added an epilogue of sorts at the end to catch the readers up on the characters over the next few years. I know I for one will miss my book friends in Keeneston, but the epilogue softened the blow of losing them. This is certainly a series I’ll be reading again.
I LOVED this whole series! Hope we see more of this crazy town of awesome characters.
Ahmed is Mo’s bodyguard and I was so looking forward to this book because he needed love. He needed to see that his dark parts are not as scary as he thinks. But he needed someone who not only understands his dark side but someone who could accept it. Bridget Springer is just the person. I love that she hides who her family is. I love that she knows what she wants and doesn't take no for an answer.
Of all the books in the series, I think this is my fav book.. It encompasses all the characters of this series. From the start of the series, Ahmed has been in every book, helping to save those in peril in Keeneston, KY. And now the town comes together to help him and Bridget save each other from the past in order to move forward into the future. You see the strongest of them all, find a new depth and a heart he has hidden for many year, come to life again with his new found love for Bridget. Kathleen Brooks does an excellent job of bring this series to it's conclusion of the books in this Bluegrass Brothers series and the original Bluegrass series. I will miss visiting Keeneston,KY, but I am looking forward to her new series.
What can I say I LOVE this series and each one is better than the last! I’m sorry that we are saying good bye for now to this series (since all the characters we know have their HEA) but what a way to go!
Ahmed has been around since the very beginning of the series (Bluegrass State of Mind) and has played one roll or another in the HEA of all the couples that have come before him. In spite of that he is something of a mystery to both the reader and the town he lives in. In this book we finally learn his secrets and why he is so determined to kill Serge (who is introduced as a bad guy in Rising Storm) and I have to tell you it’s heartbreaking. He feels he cannot have love until Serge has been dealt with and even then fears the darkness in is soul my prevent him from finding it. Though he has helped everyone else he is determined to go it alone, not wanting to expose anyone else to Serge or his own darkness but his friends will not allow it. They will help him whether he wants it or not.
Bridget is a little newer to the series but she has her share of secrets too. As the handler for Marko (the dually trained drug and explosive dog) she works in Keeneston and all over the world. She has been in the military and is currently working as private security. She has her own contacts around the world and is perfectly capable of kicking ass all on her own. I mean come on you know Ahmed wasn’t going to end up with some simpering miss cowering in the corner; Bridget is a match for him in every way.
I need to reiterate, I LOVED this book! The writing was excellent, the storyline smooth and easy to follow, the chemistry between the characters was electric. I loved getting to see everyone again. I loved the twists and turns of who knows who and from where (One of the best lines if you ask me is Cy’s frequently repeated “I am a spy”). Kathleen’s books have always been the perfect blend of romance and suspense for me and while she leaves us outside the bedroom door for the sex scenes I find I’m so caught up in the story that I don’t miss the more graphic scenes that I enjoy in some other books. Besides I have a good imagination I can guess how it goes. I’ll miss this series but I’m looking forward to what Kathleen has for us next, she’s on my auto buy list (which is actually shrinking lately) and books like this are why.
Just when I thought that her books could not get any better, Kathleen Brooks produced "Final Vow". It is the last in the Bluegrass Series and it was an exciting read from start to finish. Fans of the series had always been intrigued by the fiercely loyal, dark, dangerous, deadly character known only as Ahmed. His name struck terror into the hearts of every criminal who crossed his path, and his reputation earned him grudging respect from law enforcement agencies everywhere. "Final Vow" tells Ahmed's story and it provides insight into the reasons for his transformation from a gentle, peace-loving individual into one of the most feared interrogators on the planet. Like the other books in the series "Final Vow" is a romantic novel which is laced with drama and intrigue! In addition to sharing some very passionate moments, Ahmed and Bridget work together to disrupt criminal activity in the Pakistan, Italy and Egypt; they become involved in a street brawl which earned them a night together in an Italian jail; and with the assistance of the US military, they foiled a coup that threatened to overthrow of the Middle Eastern kingdom of Rahmi. In my opinion, Kathleen Brooks saved the best for last, for this is, indeed, the most exciting book in what can only be regraded as an amazing series. Five stars without a doubt!
5 out of 5 stars for Final Vow by Kathleen Brooks. What a great finale to this wonderful series. It was full of action, adventure, and true to her series it was full of heartwarming families and the power of true love. Don't miss the conclusion of the Bluegrass/Bluegrass Brothers series it is a must read.
Ahmed and Bridget. They are perfect for each other. I love their talents and character individually, but together they are u stoppable. Ahmed’s story is heartbreaking. Sergei gets his due and we find out his background which was not a surprise. Ahmed’s brother and the king shocked me with their decisions and actions, but Dani was the MVP on that problem. Bridget’s dad and the secrecy was a delightful twist, especially when Ahmed met him and when the Davies brothers learned the truth. This is a great story with a good blend of romance, intrigue, international relations and danger. Loved the Rose sisters and the ending with the update on everyone’s family!
This is Ahmed's and Bridget's story time in the serene town of Keeneston. Well....... for the most part it is serene. When they arent' fighting off thugs, that is.. Bridget, is bad ass just as much as Ahmed. She and Annie are a force to be reckoned with. Sergei is back to cause trouble with Ahmed and he knows if he is to ever be happy with Bridget he must deal with the man that killed his past wife and child. Bridget knows Sergei must be dealt with as he has threaten her and she knows she must not let Ahmed know as he would kill him! Sergei will be at the UN, so, she is heading there and so is Ahmed. He is unaware of her connections, and never figure out how she is one step ahead of him. There is so much action packed. They go to Rome, Rahmi and back Kenneston. The Rose sisters, The Davies extended family are at their best as well. I just love the whole series. This book did not disappoint at all and thought it tied up the series nicely and left it open for any books Kathleen Brooks felt like writing in the future for the series as well. Kudos!!!!!!!!!!
Words cannot express how sad I am to see such a fabulous series come to such a fabulous end, but alas it couldn't last forever.
This book was everything I knew it would be. Ahmed and Bridget were perfect for each other. I loved her character, so full of love and life. I love that she was so courageous and a fierce fighter who always had Ahmed's back, whether he wanted it or not. It was also nice how Ms. Brooks provided us a short glimpse into Ahmed's background. That was very significant in learning how he became the bad ass he is.
Overall with all of the action, suspense, love, quirky townspeople, revisits from prior characters, new baby additions, betting and of course the glasses of special sweet iced tea, this was a most wonderful ending to a very endearing and loving series!
I picked this series up a while ago and have loved it from book one. And I was waiting for Ahmed’s story as he was always so secretive and the picture in my mind so very SEXY!! I love the suspense and romance of this book. You get to see how Ahmed actually opens up to love. Love all the characters in this book and how the cafe girls (or old ladies!!) still know everything that is going on. I am happy to say that this Keeneston experience was totally amazing I am so very sad that it ended!!! I cannot wait to see what Kathleen Brooks has coming out down the road! If you haven't read Kathleen Brooks Bluegrass Brother’s series you are totally missing out!!
What a great ending to a wonderful series that was very amusing to read. I fell so hard for all the towns peoples and their antics. Your business is everyone's business... Now let's just say that Ahmed is my kind of man and Bridget would definitely be me. Bridget is absolutely the kind of women that Ahmed needed to encounter in his life. A very strong and very in dependant women...
I must say that I am very sad to see this series end and I will miss my towns people and especially my Rose sisters.
Y'all want to read a series with lots of Southern charm this is the one for you. Enjoy! I sure did.
An amazing end to a great series. I couldn't put this book down. If you like a totally alpha male and heroine who can take care of herself. This is the book for you. Ahmed is sweet, dangerous, broken and in love with Bridget. He's afraid the things he's done will push her away. Little does he know but she's done some of the very same things. Kathleen Brooks always delivers with her quirky characters and hometown feel. This book is no different. What are you waiting for go read it and don't forget the rest of her series either, Bluegrass Brothers and Bluegrass Undercover. If you like a little intrigue with your romance you can't go wrong here.
Kathleen Brooks did it again with the last installment of the Bluegrass Brothers series. The mysterious Ahmed has been in Keeneston for awhile now, helping everyone who has a need, never giving away what he might need.
Ahmed's story is one of loss, heartbreak and revenge. His former life brings danger to the love of his life in this story. How will he protect her? HAHA, she is strong enough to save herself as well as help Ahmed back from the brink.
I enjoyed this whole series. It was fast fun reads. Basically the same type of story but really liked the whole series. The whole town was awesome and I liked how all the characters came back in with each story. You saw them having babies and how their lives were going. The original series ties in the second series. Even though each was the start and finish of the story line with that book but there are threads that are tied from the beginning all the way to the end. I'd had thsee books on my reader for quite awhile and I'm glad I finally decided to get them off my to be read list.
Satisfied? Sated? That feeling you get when you finish a book and it's everything you hoped/wished/thought? it would be. Ahmed has been my most favourite character throughout this whole journey and I'm so pleased with how his story was told. Fabulous, fabulous book!!
Final Vow is the sixth book in the Bluegrass Brothers series (Bluegrass Book #10) by Kathleen Brooks. ‘Bluegrass’ combines romance and suspense, with a touch of Southern charm. A few years ago a friend recommended this author, and her many series, to me - as she had devoured every book and absolutely loved them, singing the author’s praises from high from the hilltops. So, being an avid reader who loves discovering new authors and enticing reads, I took my friends recommendations seriously, and started amassing Ms. Brooks many books, with the plan to have a huge binge session/buddy read with my friend. But with so many books on my TBR, and new, exciting ones releasing every week, I always seemed to get pulled into other books- as these just kept piling up. Since part of my yearly reading challenges for the past few years has been to dust off my TBR pile/s and read the books that have been languishing there the longest, I decided to finally dive in and get the series read. While I did ‘enjoy’ the books for the most part- I didn’t fall madly in love with them as my friend promised that I would. But that’s ok, I am really happy that she loves them as much as she does. But for me, they were just an ‘okay’ read. With plenty of small-town drama, intrigue, angst, chemistry, humour, community, family, friendship, charm, mystery, tension, danger, emotion, and suspense- the stories are about finding love unexpectedly and love conquering all. The books can all be read as standalones if you wanted, without feeling ‘lost’ or like you are missing big pieces of the picture. This is because each instalment introduces its own ‘couple’- providing plenty of romance, a dash of suspense, and some sweet development to make your heart flutter. But I have to be honest, I found there were a few issues which detracted from my overall enjoyment of the stories/series. Such as the ‘wordiness’ which really slowed the flow of the storyline at times, as there was such an overwhelming amount of detail which didn’t really ‘add’ to or propel the story in any way, except to perhaps distract from the plot. I love details, normally- but not when there are pages of descriptions, as things tend to ‘bog’ down and the flow/pace/plot gets lost amongst the detritus- and also leads to some ‘wandering’ storylines. There were also many loose ends, for me- threads that were left hanging, or not fully woven into the storyline- which I found a bit frustrating. I really wanted to love this series as much as my friend did…. but instead, I was left a little disappointed. Happy reading! 📚💙
This was such a beautifully told story of romance, suspense, love, friendship and family!!!!. Hot and steamy mixed with such tenderness and caring. It was perfect! Every time Ahmed said to Bridget "My Dear" in such a sweet way for such a hardened from life man......... I sighed with the perfection of it! He used the expression a lot and each time you knew how precious and cherished by him she was. The suspense was interesting and kept you guessing how it would resolve. I love this town, I love all the characters in the town. I love the dialogue and interaction between all the various couples from this whole Bluegrass series and Bluegrass Brothers series..... I enjoyed all the updates.... What a treat they were!!!! And as usual Kathleen Brooks gave us wrap ups and an epilogue that took us through to the couple's future lives. Can't say how much I enjoyed this book.... It was wonderful. I have already bought all the other Bluegrass books...... Especially excited because we get to read all of the children's stories as adults!!! Can't recommend these series enough!!!!!
Final Vow is an explosive and deeply emotional conclusion to the series, following Ahmed, a skilled bodyguard haunted by his past, and Bridget, a security specialist who refuses to back down from a fight. Their relationship is built on mutual respect, intense attraction, and the kind of slow-burning chemistry that makes for a truly gripping romance. The danger in this book is more personal, as Ahmed’s past resurfaces in a way that threatens everything he’s worked for. Bridget is a perfect match for him—strong, determined, and unafraid to face danger head-on. Their relationship is layered with trust, longing, and heart-pounding intensity. The action sequences are thrilling, the romance is deeply satisfying, and the emotional payoff is huge. An outstanding finale that ties everything together beautifully.
I really love the story lines of this series. Reading one is like coming home to people you know and love. There are some problems with 'suspension of disbelief' in that you know that real people who were afraid for their lives wouldn't intentionally put themselves in some of the situations that the characters find themselves in and the series could benefit from a good editor. There is a problem with sentence structure and grammar, at times, but it's not enough to outweigh how the story glides through the mind and the characters take root in the heart.
Overall Amanda score: A+ I am in complete awe from this book. My head is still swimming! This was the best book yet in this series. Ahmed is one of my favorite characters and his story does not disappoint. I will tell you that the twist at the end I totally saw coming. But that is all I will say about that. Bridget is the girl I want to be when I grow up. Strong, a survivor, and brave, also willing to fight for the man she loves, and even fight beside him. I absolutely loved this series. Kathleen brooks is my hero. I will read EVERYTHING she writes at this point.
Action adventure with romance as part of the Bluegrass Brothers series. This one involves Ahmed who has been in all the previous books. He is the bodyguard and friend of Prince Mohtadi Ali Rahman. He has a very troubled past and has built himself into a stone cold protector.
This book features Bridget the private security expert and her canine. She is setting up a dog training facility in Keeneston, Kentucky which is hometown to the Davies family and all the town characters. Great finish to the series, highly recommend.
Book # 6 or 9. What is Ahmed hiding in his past, and how will Bridget find out his secrets? I could not put it down, I was stuck to my kindle. I started reading late on the 17th and stayed up all night until I finished. I love this entire series there is just enough suspense and romance to keep the pages turning but not so much that it is too much. Will Bridget help Ahmed deal with his past? Happy reading!!
Preordered the book and read it right away. Almost want to read it again right away. The Bluegrass Brothers books are all very well written. I highly recommend reading from book one through to this one. However, this book could be read as a stand alone (you just miss out on the other great books). In Final Vow, Kathleen adds more of the action that captures the mind and keeps the reader's attention while still keeping the romance. I couldn't put this one down. Definitely a must read.
This was my favorite in this part of the series. I've always loved Ahmed and probably goes for others too since she wrote his own story. Cade and Annie's story came in a close second. We finally get a good look Rahmi and Ahmed's background. Loved it.
Who says that the man of the house has to be the protector? Why can't it be the lady or even better, both? This story is great and really ties this whole series together! If you love a romance with a good bet of suspense, this series is for you!
Great story, loved the suspense. Great series and writer. If I remember right Pearce only had a 100 acres farm, he sold 20 acres to Bridget for her dog training business, then the end of the book said she bought another 20 acres. 60 acres left is not big enough for farming.

I have to say this was my favorite book of this series. I have to admit I have read it several times and also listened to the audio and I recommend this series to everyone I know.
