A Cold Case Psychic Spin off Novella

Museum curator, Harrison Kirkpatrick, has been fascinated by the American Revolution since childhood, but never in his wildest dreams did he ever imagine falling in love from afar with a soldier who fought for America’s freedom. Through a series of events too wild to be believed, Harrison is thrown back in time to 1775, mere days before the Battle of Bunker Hill, finding himself at the business end of a musket held by the very man he has been pining for.

Massachusetts Militiaman, Gannon Chalmers, does not know what to make of the strange man he finds wandering around Bunker Hill days before his unit is to engage the British Redcoats. Is this man friend or foe? What he does know is that there is an undeniable attraction growing between them that he must resist at all costs.

As the battle draws closer, so do Gannon and Harrison. Can they deny the passion threatening to explode between them like a powder keg? Or will Gannon’s abundance of caution keep him from giving in to the one man who could lay claim to his heart?

On the brink of a war that will change the history of the world, the pair must decide what price they are willing to pay for freedom, and how much they are willing to sacrifice for love.

Sick of the slogging rat-race of her 9-5 job, Pandora Pine put pen to paper (literally!) to make her ambition of becoming a romance novelist a reality. She cut her teeth in the dog-eat-dog world of fanfiction, still dreaming of the day when she would be a published author. She lives in Massachusetts with her blabbermouth muse who’ s a fan of middle of the night plot twists.

In her spare time, Pandora fancies herself an amateur nature photographer. She enjoys mucking around in swamps, hiking through the woods and crawling around on her hands and knees in her backyard seeking out the perfect shot. Pandora is a fan of roadside seafood shacks and always thinks Mexican food is a good idea at the time.

Some of Pandora’s favorite things are chocolate, writing longhand with purple pens and handsome men falling in love with each other.

Don't miss Pandora’s seductive new novel coming soon to an e-reader near you.

A spin off. Harrison is the curator of the Bunker Hill memorial and he is obsesed with a soldier of the Revolutionary War, Gannon.
One night he wishes he could be with Gannon and is transported back 250 years.
What follows is a sort of love story which lasts for a few days as Gannon is killed in the Battle of Bunker Hill.
Interesting and nice to see Ten and Ronan.

No.

This book was sooo awkward! I don't even know where to start with this story that just tried too hard.

First there is a museum curator in love with a dead American Revolution soldier. He talks to his grave daily. Then he time travels and gets to meet this mystery soldier. He doesn't wonder too much about time traveling or how he's going to get back or the fact that the Revolutionary War in America is beginning and he might die. He just makes jokes and makes out with his soldier.

The speech pattern is awkward for both--a historical, this is not. The soldier believes curator man is from the future and is not freaked out about it.

I suppose, had I bought into the story, the ending was testily and happily sentimental. However, I didn’t buy into it.

My rec? If you’re looking for a solid time-travel book, a solid historical book, a solid romance book, this isn’t it.

Beyond the Grave is a spin-off novel from Cold Case Psychic series. However you don't need to read the first series to fully enjoy this book, they are only connected at the very end and not in a way that will leave you confused in any way.

Harrison Kirkpatrick is a curator at a museum in Boston. He's been obsessed with the American Revolution since he was a little boy. One day he receives a mysterious box containing letters and memorabilia from a soldier fighting in the war back in 1775. This is the start of his obsession with Gannon Chalmers. A couple of years later, he's well and truly in love with the fallen soldier and his highest wish is for a moment in time with said soldier.

Be careful what you wish for, because suddenly he finds himself back in 1775, staring up at the man he's been dreaming about. Not only has he travelled back in time, he's also travelled back to the battle he's been studying for so long. A battle he's now a part of. The two spend a few days getting to know each other. Falling for each other. Normally this is the happy times, full of promises and joy, but not in this book, there's always danger looming and in the back of your head you know that there won't be a happily ever after for this loving couple. Their love is beautiful, it's innocent in a way, and I loved being there for all the moment they shared.

Their love is a bittersweet one and I freely admit to shedding a few tears. While listening there was always this feeling of time running out, that they wouldn't get their happily ever after. But the love that they did share made up for that, it transcended time itself.

This was the first time I listened to Stephen Dexter and I have to say I really enjoyed his narration. I liked how he portrayed the characters, the voices he had for Harrison and Gannon fit with who they were. The feelings were spot on and he made you a part of the story, made you feel for the characters. Made you root for them. Sometimes changing narrator for a series can be a bit iffy, but for this book it worked. Dexter is a great narrator and add to it that the characters in this book don't appear in the original series, part from a minor cameo ´with Ten and Ronan in the end.

All in all, I really enjoyed this book, I loved the atmosphere and the characters and the narration made it all come alive.

One of the best stories that I have listened to in a while. And that's saying something considering it made me cry (I hate crying and tend to avoid books that I know will make me). But oh, it was so good. Stephen Dexter did a fantastic job with the narration. Pine did an awesome job with the historical aspects but I don't know enough about the history of the American revolution to speak to the accuracy but it certainly seemed viable. Harrison and Gannon were well fleshed out and despite their lack of time together their feelings for one another felt real. Harrison's second relationship in the story wasn't quite as easy to believe only because very little was written about it. I think that was intentional. More depth would have taken away from Harrison and Gannon's relationship. Ten and Ronan had a small but integral role to play at the end of the story, and they didn't disappoint. Despite the ugly cry, I will probably re-read this story many times.

Damn, I had a huge ugly cry in this book. This is a spin off novella, but I hadn't read any of the other books in the previous series, nor had I read any books by Pandora Pine before. I will DEFINITELY be reading the Cold Case Psychic Series.

I was really impressed with the story telling and the writing. I was completely captivated and my heart broke. It was so well written and I loved the characters. I wasn't sure how it was all going to work out, and it didn't go in the direction I was expecting, but it was the right direction. My heart still hurts a little just thinking about it. I would love to see more of Harrison and his new future.

Oh man, this story? Is why I cannot be trusted to time-travel, even accidentally. See, I happen to think that General Joseph Warren is one of the most un-sung, underappreciated Heroes of the American Revolution (and founding member of the Sons of Liberty)...and was killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill, choosing not to lead from behind but fighting with his men.

And I'd totally freak out trying to warn him what was coming, get locked up as crazy, then executed as a witch or something when it happened. (Because even knowing he'd die I think Warren would still put himself in the line of fire anyway.)

So, yeah...looking forward to reading this book!!

This did NOT go as I had planned... grrr, but it did bring tears to my eyes, both happy and sad so I can't complain too much and even though I didn't get the ending I wanted, I got an ending I could be happy about. *grabs for another tissue*

This is a great, fast-paced story that I couldn’t put down. The characters are interesting and had me wanting to know more about them. The story deftly transitions from past to present in an engaging style of story telling. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Slow to start...

The beginning was pretty boring but ohmygosh the ending was totally worth it! I'd expected there to be more of the Cold Case Psychic crew in this novella, which truly didn't feel like a novella, but I'm not really disappointed now that I've finished reading it.

Firstly I'm not generally a fan of time travel in my books and secondly I'm a huge fan of Pandora and her Cold Case Psychic series. So......
I loved this book! As a novella it's a lot shorter than the CCP books but it's short and sweet, with a full story that is full of emotion and drama.
Harrison is head curator at his town's museum, focusing on the Battle of Bunker Hill. Since he started his work, he has been completely fascinated by Massachusetts Militiaman, Gannon Chalmers. There was no information on this man until a year ago when a parcel arrived with letters and a portrait of the man. Harrison has become attached to the man and spends his free time talking to his grave marker. Until he somehow finds himself face to face with Gannon....
In 1775, Gannon is shocked by the strange man that appears at their camp. Days before the battle is due to commence and the two men draw closer, snatching moments together and feeling a connection that can span across time. It is an emotional time for them both as Harrison knows full well what is coming and Gannon is attached to this man he's only known for hours.
This is a book that can pack a punch! I love Pandora's writing, the detail that comes across while telling a great story enhances your enjoyment of the book overall. I came to love Harrison very quickly with his clear love of his job and history, appreciation for his staff and dog, and is completely in love/adoration with Gannon, even before meeting the man in the flesh. I love that romantic notion of falling for someone just by knowing things about them and their history.
Gannon is a true patriot, wanting to fight for his freedom. Even knowing what is coming, it's enjoyable getting to know his and see his relationship with Harrison develop.
The setting for the story is beautifully written, I can easily imagine myself there, seeing what the characters are experiencing.
I'd highly recommend this novella. Fans of Pandora's writing will love it. Anyone who enjoys time travel romance would take quickly to it, and how true Pandora sticks to getting even the small details right matching history to modern day events of the story. We even get an appearance from Ten and Ronan!
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review

“T’was magic. Of that I am certain,” Gannon whispered. Seconds later, he was snoring.”

I’m going to start with the ending first. No spoilers, promise.

As I was reading the ending I thought I would cry, but that epilogue is what got me. The story is so good. Drawing you in, rooting for them to be together, hoping the battle won’t end the way we know it in 2018. Then bam, I get to the epilogue, there’s a meeting with Tennyson and the water works starts.

Harrison is the curator for The Bunker Hill Historic Society.

“Today, all of Harrison’s hard work and perseverance would pay off. The Bunker Hill Historic Society was rededicating the burying ground to all of the brave soldiers who lay at rest in that hallowed ground. They would also be unveiling a plaque honoring Gannon Chalmers.”

He's been writing a book about all the men who died on the battlefield, and Gannon Chalmers is the only one to stick out. So much so, Harrison starts talking to his grave and spending time hanging out.

On this special day before finally heading home he once again stops at Gannon’s resting place and noticed the plaque was made with clear quartz.

“Clear quartz was a gateway crystal, for lack of a better term. This kind of quartz has the ability to bring the spirit world closer to the physical world.”

This is where things get interesting and an amazing love unfolds right before my eyes.

I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.

*On a more personal note, I really enjoyed reading a MM Romance with American History as part of the time. I do historical interpretation for this time period and the French and Indian War, so being able to see some of it put into a fictional story, but with some true events made my heart sing with joy.*

Beyond Amazing!!!!!

I can’t give this book enough praise! I can’t believe I was going to skip it!! Pandora writes a passionate love tale that will capture your heart, break it, and put it back together again!

This story follows Museum/Historian Harrison and his passion for the American Revolution. From the start of this novella, we are given a view into Harrison’s life, enthusiasm, and quirks. Pandora entrances us with Harrison’s deep passion for history and his (secret) crush on the mysterious (250 years dead) Militiaman, Gannon Chalmers. As Harrison works to improve the current Bunker Hill, something magical happens and he is transported back to meet his crush on the very hill he was striving to preserve.

Once together, their chemistry is instant and we are taken on a journey of forbidden and instant love, that is so passionate, wonderful, and heartbreaking when they are once again torn apart! I felt everything Harrison felt, I admit I totally ugly cried and felt every word Pandora wrote! This love transcended the centuries and thankfully Pandora gives us a little closure and happy different but still wonderful happy ending with a new love and a little help from Tennyson.

I loved this story and can’t recommend this story enough!!

(P.s. I would consider this a standalone as you don’t need to have read about Tennyson to read this book. It’ll show you the talent that is Pandora!)

Wow. As I sit here trying to find the words to write a review for this book, I am still wiping away tears (some happy, some sad). I have so. Many. Feelings. Beyond the Grave is uniquely wonderful for so many reasons. It is a story about a love that defies all sense of space and time.. a bittersweet and poignant but beautiful tale of a seemingly impossible first love, loss, and letting go in order to live the life you are meant to from now on. This is not a story that should be spoiled for you, so this review will be more vague than usual. I loved both Harrison and Gannon, and as an early American history nerd who spent the first 28 years of my life living less than five minutes from Bunker Hill, the history and setting and just.. EVERYTHING.. was more than I could have hoped for. The ending is so surprising (and it isn't easy to surprise me anymore) and, for me at least, both heartbreaking and heartwarming in equal measure. Beyond the Grave may be just a novella in length, but Pandora packed it with so much depth and history and love that I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, this story is one that will stay with me.

I won't go into too much description here, since the blurb describes this book perfectly. Harrison is adorably sweet and sad as he falls in love with a man who died centuries ago. When he gets the opportunity to go back and meet that man, Gannon, he is excited and hopeful. Gannon, for his part, is fascinated by the strange "future man," and his heart quickly becomes involved. These two together are funny and sexy, despite the fact that they are preparing for a battle Gannon - or even Harrison - might not survive.
I loved these men and the way they cared so quickly and completely for each other. While there was a good amount of humor and steam, there was also the dread of the battle to come. The sights, sounds, and smells from the battlefield broke my heart. And the ending was lovely. I appreciated the visit with Tennyson and Ronan, which helped to wrap things up with a beautiful bow for me. This is another great story from an author I look forward to reading every single time. I love this book!

This was a truly magical story. I am a huge fan of Pandora Pine, and with this novella, she once again confirms what a wonderful author she is.
Time travel has been written for ages, but she manages to give it another dimension. She effortlessly blends modern times with those of the American Revolution. Her world-building and writing are sublime. I was engrossed in the story right from the start, and she took me on a beautiful, heartbreaking, and heartwarming journey of finding love through the ages. The emotions were plentiful as she made me cry and laugh in equal measures. Great characters and surprising twists lift this story above the rest. This might be a novella, but it had the impact of a full-length novel.
It is a spin-off of the Cold Case Psychic series, and I was extremely happy to see Roman and Tennyson made an appearance in this book. It made the ending of this fantastic book just perfect.

Forever Love!

The description gives you a glimpse of this story but it’s so much more! If you’ve truly loved it’s timeless, Harrison spent years falling in love with Gannon. Gannon, a long dead militiaman, meets Harrison in his time before his battle and falls in love. Love in a time which could condemn you and your lover to death, a forever love.

Delightful story filled with passion, time-travel, and love. I laughed and i ugly cried with this story. A story to touch your heart!

The writing was awesome and the story-line kept me glued to my kindle. I found the characters, Gannon and Harrison compelling and their story deeply touched my heart.

The intense emotions of soldiers on the eve of war plays into this well done romance, when the impossible becomes possible. i am not much of a history buff, but the way this story is woven, you will enjoy this moment in time.

i so loved the visit to Ten, our favorite Cold Case Psychic! That was a really amazing scene!

Highly recommend!!

A museum curator travela through time and falls in love with a long dead war hero MM romance

4 stars

Holy wowness! This was such an emotional read! Here we have Harrison, a museum curator, who loves history and has a crush on one of the subjects he is researching for his book. After a dedication to Gannon, he magically travels through time to have his love story.

This was crazy good. I do wonder if it was historically accurate, as some terminology seemed modern but I didn't feel it detracted from the story. What I felt was a rollercoaster of emotions and the ending with Tenn was everything!

This is a wonderful short story that I absolutely loved! It is well-written, has amazing characters and a compelling storyline. I fell in love with Harrison and Gannon and I wish this had been a full-length book as I want more of both of them. I was laughing and crying all the way through this story and the ending is amazing. Every book by Pandora Pine that I have read has always included an interesting story along with inspiring, engaging and hilarious characters and I have loved all of them. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

When I read the summary, I almost decided not to read it. I thought it was a strange concept and a little outside the Cold Case Psychic world. But I am so glad I read it. I just loved it so much. It broke my heart, but it was so, so good. SPOILERS-AHEAD!!!SPOILERS!!! I really wanted Gannon to be able to go back with Harrison and when he didn't I was so sad for the both of them. And i never saw Gage coming! I was so shocked. I still wish Gannon and Harrison could have been together, but I understand why they couldn't. It was such a good story.

What would you give up or do for one moment in time?

Beyond the Grave by Pandora Pine is the first in a spin off series from the Cold Case Psychic series, but can be read as a complete standalone. And if you read any books from this author, it should be this one! I absolutely loved this story - the history, the time travel, the love between these two during war - it was beautifully written and caused so many emotions. Harrison and Gannon's story didn't go as I expected, but the way it was done was so realistic while being both heartwarming and heartbreaking.

Revolutionary War

Paranormal dual point of view
Standalone

As a museum curator and long time Revolutionary War fan, the Battle of Bunker Hill is not only a job but a passion for Harrison. Through his research of the lives behind the battle, Harrison develops a crush on one of the soldiers who is believed to have died in the battle and in a moment of honoring Gannon is transported back in time to meet him. What happens next is for the history books.

Cried my eyes out during the epilogue.

As you know, I have started the Cold Case Psychic series with Pandora Pine, and upon reading up through book 9 realized there was a lot going on, that I missed. So after searching for reading order realized that before I start the next one I needed to catch up. This is the story of Harrison and Gannon Chalmers. Harrison is a museum curator over a revolutionary war museum and it's attached cemetery. Gannon is the soldier he is obsessed with when his grave only lists his name. It's a time travel romance where Harrison is swept back to the revolutionary war and experiences a few days with Gannon right before and during the battle of bunker hill. Tenn and Ronan make a brief appearance.

Beyond the Grave is a spinoff of The Cold Case Psychic Series. A sensational book the writing was good. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters captivating. The characters were developed and thought out. Gannon and Harrison are the MC’s of this book. This book has love and hope but will break your heart too. I can recommend this book as a good read. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

Utterly Heartbreaking

Beyond the Grave is both absolutely brilliant and utterly heartbreaking. I'm in bits as I'm writing this review and it's not very often a book has this effect on me. To be honest before starting Beyond the Grave, I didn't think I was going to enjoy it - how wrong I was. I wholeheartedly recommend this book, but make sure you have tissues at the ready - you'll need them!

So I came back to this book. I know these books are good, but for some reason this wasn't clicking with me.
Well, I'm glad I did. Minus the tears. I have a love/hate relationship with past lives books. I hate to see them lose someone they love. BUT I love to see them reunited. Goodness. It clicked better this round. 😊

I'm stuck.
I'm trying to read this series through. Spin offs can be great. I've learned moving forward, before realizing there were these neat spinoffs snuck in here and there, you just dang well feel like you're missing something. You find yourself asking; Wait, when did that happen? Lol I don't like it...
So I've tried to go back and read from the list I found posted in Facebook.
With this one, for some reason, it is just not clicking with me. Sigh I may come back to it another time.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this story. Gannon Chalmers has been the big mystery that Harrison is determined to solve and he has fallen in love with the mysterious soldier. When Harrison ends up with Gannon before and during his final battle they tentatively explore their feelings but after Harrison comes back to the present he finds the love he was missing before.

This is a very emotional story, we see how hard it was for Gannon to live in the time he did and not have anyone to share himself with. I loved Harrison’s determination in everything he does and how he opening accepts those who come into his life. I was very happy for Harrison to find the love and happiness he has been missing and after he loses Gannon.
