Against All Odds Rating: 4 stars I really liked this story. Loved both the MCs. I really liked that Nash was not your typical alpha. Loved his relationship with Chase. Overall, a pretty good story.
Beautifully Damaged Rating: 3.5 stars What poor Slate went through was horrific. I really liked his character and was glad he was able to overcome everything he went through to get his HEA. What brought the story down for me somewhat was Ryker’s character. He was all over the place and while he came across much better in this story. His temper put me off quite a bit. Still, I did enjoy the story.
A Place To Exist Rating: 3 stars This was my least favorite in the series. The editing was really bad. At times the author/s kept switching to first person pov in a sentence. The names were mixed up occasionally and it would switch scenes without a noticeable break to signify the change. In addition, I didn’t connect with either of the MCs as much. I really liked Rylee in the previous stories, but he came across much different in those than he did in this one. I understood his deep emotional scars and the reason that he was so insecure, but it just got to be a bit too much after a while. Overall, it was okay. I expected better based on the first two stories.
BOOK 1 – AGAINST AL ODDS Alpha wolf Nashoba "Nash" wants nothing more than to find his mate. His father, who is Alpha of the pack, is dying and Nash is beginning to feel the pressures others are putting on him to run the pack in his father's absence. He knows he is not the Alpha for the job and he feel terrible that the pressure has now been placed on his younger brother, Ryker. Loneliness is slowly creeping up on him and he knows that his mate is out there but he starts to lose hope that he will ever find him. That all changes one day when he gets a horrible feeling that something is horribly wrong, knowing that his mate is in trouble.
Chase is part of a pack that lives in the stone ages when it comes to traditions, especially when it comes to the treatment of Omegas. He is an outcast in his pack and he deals with abuse from his father, both physical and emotional on a daily basis. He wants nothing more than to find his mate that has haunted his dreams. He wants his freedom so he can search for those beautiful green eyes. He escapes the pack when they turn on him and he somehow ends up where is mate is.
This book was filled with so much heartache and emotion. The things Chase has to endure had me in tears. All you want to do is take him in your arms and protect him from those that want to do him harm. Nash was the perfect Alpha for Chase. His sensitivity was exactly what Chase needed after everything he went through. These characters were a joy to read and I loved this book so much. This is a great start to what I think will be a great series.
BOOK 2 – BEAUTIFULLY DAMAGED Alpha wolf Ryker leaves his ailing father in search of his lifemate. He knows he will be taking over the pack soon when his father dies and he knows he needs his Omega by his side to do it. He has been feeling the pull of his lifemate, so he decides to go in search of him. Ryker already said his goodbyes to his father, but he still has hope that his father will be alive when he returns home. After several months of searching, Ryker begins to lose hope that he will ever find his mate. His car falling apart and he is stuck in another pack’s territory. On his way out of that territory he smells his mate. Of course he would find his mate in hostile pack lands. He refuses to leave without his mate, so he carefully searches for his mate. He follows the alluring scent of his mate. What he finds breaks his heart. All alone in the rain, he finds his mate in a cage. God knows how long he has been there but Ryker refuses to have his mate in there a second longer.
Omega wolf Slate has reconciled himself to a life in captivity. His pack does not hold Omegas in high esteem and ever since he hit puberty he has been locked up in isolation. He has been badly abused sexually, physically and mentally. His only escape from his torture are his books. The night of the full moon he is allowed outside since all the Alphas will be on their run. There he enjoys the fresh air because he doesn’t know when he will be allowed this privilege again. While outside, he comes across the most intoxicating scent he has ever smelled. A sees a large Alpha approaching his cage and quickly realizes that this Alpha is his lifemate. He escapes with the Alpha and is taken from his pack. Finally he gets his freedom.
Slate is faces with many challenges after his escape. He is horribly dehydrated, he has scars all over his body and he hears voices in his head. Ryker is trying to help Slate out, but he soon realizes that he doesn’t know how to help his mate. His heart breaks for everything his mate has gone through and all he wants is to make the pain go away.
My heart broke for Slate in this book. He had to endure so many horrible things that no one should ever have to face. Ryker was his perfect mate. He was willing to do whatever it took to make sure Slate felt protected and loved. I loved their story and went through every single emotion with them. I couldn’t put this book down.
BOOK 3 – A PLACE TO EXIST Omega Rylee has felt like a burden to his pack since he joined them at 16 years old. He was bounced around from pack to pack and horribly mistreated all because of a birthmark. He sees all his friends happily mated and he can’t help but yearn for the same thing. He thinks it is hopeless because he hasn’t felt the pull of his lifemate like everyone else he knows has. He is happy for his friends, but he can’t help but feel a deep loneliness. His Alpha Pack Leader, Ryker notices how tired and unhappy Rylee has become and forces him to take time off. With nothing left to do but obey his Alpha, Rylee does as ordered and takes time off. During his time off, he heads deeper into the territory to search for some herbs and plants so he can make more of his teas. There he has an odd sense that he is being watched.
Alpha Axel has been trapped on another plane for 50 years. He has lost track of time and has no sense what is what anymore. The worst part of being trapped is the isolation and loneliness. One day that all changes when he sees the most beautiful Omega he has ever laid eyes on. Axel is unable to be seen or heard but he desperately wants to spend more time with this Omega. When he notices the Omega leaving he screams for him to not go and the Omega stops in his tracks. Axel hopes that somehow the Omega heard him, but he is not holding out hope.
Rylee has to go back to the lake to gather more plants and herbs but he is reluctant because he still couldn’t shake the weird feeling he got when he was last there. He decides to bite the bullet and just go. And that is when his life changes forever. Near the lake, he encounters a shadow of a man. Rylee is overwhelmed with the smell coming from the Alpha. He realizes that that man is his mate. His joy is short lived when he realizes that Axel is stuck in another plane of existence, punished by Mother Moon for his lack of appreciation and worship of her. How can they be together when they aren’t even on the same plane?
Rylee falls into an even deeper depression because now that he has found his mate, he can’t even be with him in the physical sense. Rylee has always felt unloved by everyone and just wants someone of his own to love him unconditionally. Mother Moon comes to Rylee in a dream and she demands that he ask for Nash and Ryker’s help in bringing Axel to this plane so he can take human form once again. He reluctantly does and is surprised that they are willing to do anything to ensure his happiness. They tell Rylee that they have always loved him as a brother and that just fills his heart with joy and relief.
This was such an interesting story to read. I have never read a book where a mate is trapped on another plane. I loved that little twist. Rylee’s life broke my heart. All he wanted was to be loved and accepted and when it finally happened he still had a hard time believing it was real. This is such a wonderful series. All these characters have left their mark on me.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
The first story is about Nash an aplha wolf that's waiting for his soul mate. He know's his soul mate is out there so he's not willing to settle down with anyone else. And omega wolf Chase, Chase has been abused by his pack. Specialy by his father after Chase sccedently caused the death of his mother and other pack mambers in a fire. Chase escape his pack when his father and some other pack members is trying to sacrifie him. Chase ends up at the border to Nash's pack. NAsh best friend finds Chase and gets him to the hospital. Nash meets Chase when he's beeing discharged for the hospital, and is not willing to let his soul mate go now that he has found him. Theres a lot of issues to overcome because of Chases abuse.
The second book is about Ryker, alpha wolf whos Nash younger brother and he's going to take over the pack after their dad who's sick. Ryker wants his soul mate, so in one last desperate attempt to find the soul mate, Ryker goes on a discovery. Ryker finds his soul mate Slate in a cage outside, in Slate's pack territory and take Slate with him. Slate has been badly sexualy abused by the pack alphas when they go into a rut. Slate has both mental, physical scars and his body is about to shutt down. Slate's biggest challenge is the voices and dealing with his episides. Rykers is a big help at getting him out of them and slowly helping Slate heal. Ryker and slate is a cute couple, and Ryker will do anything for Slate. One of Slate's biggest consern is if he's able to become pregnant because of everything he has been trough. This is a lovely story, with HEA, pregnancy and an alpha that will do anything for his omega.
The third book is about Rylee, an omega wolf that works for the pack. Rylee has been feeling lonely and out of place in his pack more than usual lately. And in under the impression that he's unloved. Rylee has been abused adn kicked out of his old pack's bacause of his birthmark. Axel is an alpha wolf thas's stuck in the bettween. When the Moon "god" destroyed the pack Axel was seeking refugee in was destroyed, he was spared but punished. Axel has been stuck in the bettween for about 50 years with out beeing able to comunicat with a living soul. Axel also has a bithmark like Rylee. Rylee is able to comunicate with Axel and with the help of Nash and Ryker, to get Axel's spirit and body back to the realm of the living. During this process Rylee learns that he's loved by Ryker and Nash who consider him a brother. Rylee finds something he never tought he would have, love, affection, pups and someone that care about him, and a pack that loves him.
Against All Odds Nash and Chase Nash was an alpha who longed to meet his destined mate. His father was the leader of pack and was deadly ill. His brother, Ryker, was a stand-in-pack's-leader and at first was annoyed at Nash's refusal to be the stand-in. Chase was an omega in some kind of too traditional pack. When he was a boy, he snucked out of his home to draw his fated mate but was caught out with an alpha boy, had a little fight that ended up burning part of the pack's territory and also killed some of part members, including his mother and the alpha boy. Omega wasn't being acknowledge in this pack and so this accident made Chase's father and the pack shunned him. This pack had some kinds of traditional beliefs and one of them was the sacred flower that held power. In the accident, Chase pulled out the flower in thought to saved it from being burnt. However, the pack resented him for that. Years later, Chase was asked by his father to eat dinner with him but instead was pulled into some kinds of sacrificing method where Chase needed to be killed so the sacred flower could bloom.
Honestly, this fated mate is a big reason for me. They kind of met and fall in love helplessly. I mean, fated mate indeed, but the interesting part of reading a romance is to know why they love each other, the part when one makes another's heart doki doki and all. I think this novel skipped that part and jumped into the "Oh, I'm so sure I'm so in love with you" at first sight. Sure, Nash really cared about Chase but I wonder if that's because of this "fated" things that made Nash so attentive and all... It's too much like matchmaking...
Beautifully Damage Ryker and Slate Ryker, a soon-to-be pack leader trying to search for his destined mate Slate, an omega from Lunar Peak Pack who had been abused and caged since puberty The story is okay. However, I feel something is missing... My thought comes to the episodes Slate's had. His episode seemed to recede pretty fast, but remembering his abused came early in his life wasn't that odd? I don't really know about how episode works 'tho...
A Place to Exist Axel and Rylee Axel, a member of the cursed Nightfall Pack from 50 years ago, where their body and spirit trapped in a realm between. Rylee, The Guardian Pack's administrative assistant
First half of the story is about Rylee's effort to bring Axel's body back. And the rest is about overcoming Rylee's anxiety about himself. Honestly, all three stories have same kind of storyline.

This is a FANOMINAL 3 Book Bundle. LOVE BY THE LAKE
BOOK #1 AGAINST ALL ODDS This exciting story is about Alpha Nash and Omega Chase. The Guardian Pack is accepting of all. It's a sanctuary pack to all. Nash is the older brother but does not want to be the next leader. Chase is an Omega on the run. Fated mates are hard to find. When these two meet it's powerful and magical. Sizzling hot and beautiful.
BOOK #2 BEAUTIFULLY DAMAGED
With the world changing with the pack Alpha's illness progressing, Ryker the Alpha next in line needs a mate. Knowing that his destined soulmate is out there he participates in a ceremony to help him find his mate. As the vision unfolds, what he sees is not good. His desperation to find this man consumes him. Slate is a male Omega, the lowest of the low according to his pack. Locked away since puberty, he knows nothing but torture, starvation and misery. Then there is a strange wolf, his scent new, frightening and irresistible. Can he trust his inner wolf or let his only chance at freedom pass him by?? This is the INCREDIBLE struggle between Ryker and Slate. It's the story of patience, discovery and strength.
BOOK #3 A PLACE TO EXIST
This is a mystical story that goes beyond the realm. How do you bring time crossed destined mates together?? Omega Rylee is about to cross into a realm that holds his Alpha. Axel is an Alpha from long ago. He's trapped by a long forgotten curse. Forced to live in a nightmare. It's up to Rylee and his unwavering faith to set him free. This is an EXTRAORDINARY story that takes you into the unknown. Tests the boundaries and asks how thankful are you. I thought this story was magnificently written. Liam Kingsley and Preston Walker are an amazing writing duo.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THIS INCREDIBLE BUNDLE!!!
4.3 🌟s Really Enjoyed Most of this Series Bk#1 AGAINST ALL ODDS 5🌟s I read through this first book of the Love by the Lake series very quickly. The story was quite entertaining. Full of surprises! When a first born Alpha refuses to accept his inheritance it causes conflict and consternation with his younger brother. All Nash wanted to do was find his fated mate.
The terrible circumstances that bring them together almost leads to a pack rift. It's takes a lot of patience to convince the traumatized young man into believing he was worthy of the Alpha's love. This special Omega completes him and he will do anything he can to provide to prove his love and commitment.
Violence, danger, and death seemed to follow the Omega constantly. But Nash was determined to ensure his mate would never leave his side.
Bk#2 BEAUTIFULLY DAMAGED 4.5 🌟s When the Pack leader, Ryker went on a Discovery quest to find his Fated, he never imagined the horrors he'd come across. The way his Pack treated Slate because he was a male Omega was unconscionable. His Pack's Alphas depraved behavior was so terrible it damaged Ryder's mate beyond belief, leading to PTSD related panic attacks. How will Ryker be able to offer solace to his incredibly damaged Omega, while suffering unimaginable grief, and trying to lead the Pack. I also really enjoyed this second book in the series.
BK#3 A PLACE TO EXIST 2.8 🌟s Whenever the Pack needed someone Rylee was always there to help without even being asked. He gave all of himself, but he began to realize that he wanted more. In fact what the Brothers had - a mate and a family. But who would want him? He was cursed!
Out of this three book series I did not really enjoy this third book. The MC was really whiny over something he'd been reassured about repeatedly. It was a struggle to finish it.
Book 1 Against All Odds 4.5 stars. Loved Nash and Chase. Nash is a gentle soul and upon finding his soulmate in Chase finds exactly what he's been searching for. Chase's past is less than a slave in his old pack. He has a lot to overcome to be the man who can stand at his alpha's side and support him. Ryker is a bit rough to take at the beginning, but he has a good heart and loves his brother. I liked all the side characters, they added depth to the story.
Book 2 Beautifully Damaged 4.25 stars. Ryker is a bit of an ass at moments and so wonderful at others that he kind of gave me whiplash at times. Slate is beyond broken. Years of neglect and abuse have left him with a fragile mind and body. Ryker never gives up on his mate. His moments of frustration are because he can't fix everything his mate is dealing with, never is it with Slate. Slate sees his own brokenness and is sure that Ryker can do better. It takes a bit but he realizes that he's exactly who Ryker wants and needs. Super sweet ending.
Book 3 A Place to Exist 4 stars. There is a bit of paranormal element beyond being wolf shifters. Axel is trapped and Rylee works diligently to free his mate. Axel is sweet and loving. Always watching over his mate. Rylee has a lifetime of abuse that tells him he has no value. It's a tripping point in accepting Axel's love. Axel impressed me that he seeks help from Rylee's pack when he's unsure of how to help his mate. The ending left me with a smile.
All three books are adult reads. There are quite a few issues with spelling, punctuation, misplaced names and plot holes. I think a thorough edit with a good team of beta readers would bring the ratings up. The stories themselves are worth reading even with the errors.
Welcome to the Guardian Pack! This bundle includes three stories of finding your Destined Mate, building new families with acceptance and love, and overcoming traumas of the past with the help of love from friends and mates. Each story is well written, intriguing and wonderful. Definitely a recommended bundle!
Book One- Against all odds Nash is an Alpha unlike others, waiting for his Destined Mate. What some see as strength, others view as weakness... but to Chase it's worth the wait. Omega Chase has been abused and broken by his pack, he escapes his family and pack after a horrible attack and finds sanctuary in a new pack where o.egas are cherished instead of abused. Fate steps in to bring the destined mates together and they find strength in one another to overcome all obsticles in their way.
Book Two- Beautifully damaged Ryker is about to become Pack leader but goes on one last Discovery mission in search of his Destined Mate. He finds his omega Slate in an enemy territory, abused and damaged. Rescuing him and bringing him home to help heal each other and grow stronger together.
Book Three- A place to exist Rylee is an omega who has suffered in life due to a "curse", a birthmark that scared past packmates. His current pack accepts and loves him but he aches for a destined mate. MOTHER MOON has a plan, she brings him and his Destined mate together... only Axel is not exactly a living being. They were born in different times, destined to never meet but Mother Moon decided to bless them, if only Rylee can find a way to bring Axel back to life.
This bundle includes 3 wolf shifter stories that are about M/M alpha and omega pairings. It was a good collection that I enjoyed. There was a lot of intimate scenes, which seemed to overshadow the entire story, and the entire book is in desperate need of an editor. There were errors of the usual misspelled words, the wrong words being used, etc., but numerous times the names were mixed up, which made it difficult to understand at times. There was a lot of unexpected shifting of the POV's, which wouldn't have been an issue, but there was no warning or indication that it was changing, sometimes as often as each chapter.
Overall I liked the characters, the outline of the stories, and the details throughout each book. It was a good collection that I enjoyed, but I think it could've been a lot better had the issues been fixed prior to release.
I would recommend this book for those who enjoy a laid back M/M shifter romance with a little bit of action. Just beware of the editing issues.
In this bundle Love By The Lake, collaborating with Liam Kingsley, they have manage to come up with three very different stories about the Vaughn brothers, Nate, Ryker and Rylee (though Rylee is more of an adoptee by the two other brothers). Three stories about the importance of family, friends and faith. Each one of the brothers facing their own unique fated mate with a history that could possibly drive then apart but through shear stubbornness by the alphas, the willingness of starting a clean slate by the omegas and the desire to find that special someone by both parties, love can and will always conquer in the end despite the obstacles thrown at the couples. If you are looking for a sweet, romantic HEA stories be sure to pick this bundle up but be warned that there are some description of horrific brutality that made me cry. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book in return for an honest review
Against All Odds Nashoba is not the stereotypical alpha. He has waited for his mate and will not take another. Omega Chase is stuck with a pack that hates him. His father is also physically and emotionally abusive. Chase has much to overcome to be stable.
Beautifully Damaged Ryker is desperate to find his Omega, and he is given a vision of him imprisoned in a forest. Slate has been abused by his pack and is physically, mentally, and emotionally damaged. Ryker wants to help Slate but knows his anger issues will cause him more distress.
A Place To Exist Rylee is despondent with those around him finding their mates and still no sign of his. Alpha Axel has been living a half life, unable to communicate with anyone. They are the most unlikely couple being separated by life and many, many years. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Nash owns a music store whose father is pack leader. Nash has the hang dog blues because he wants to find his fated mate. He doesn't want to waste time dating. He just wants his mate. Chase is an Omega in a bordering pack who beats and demeans him daily. He finally thought his father was changing his attitude when he invited him out for dinner. It wasn't dinner. It was......Chase ran as fast as he could to get away. As Chase was leaving the hospital, he saw Nash. Nash went to him and was overwhelmed with joy. Chase had been poisoned, beaten, and stomped with in an inch of his life. Nash took him home and cared for him. They became inseparable. Nash was great at the romance. Then, of course, the bad wolf comes. This book will make you smile, get angry, and feel all warm and gooshy inside. I reviewed this advanced readers copy using my very own opinion
Such emotional stories. I am hooked on reading Preston Walker. The characters seem to come alive and you feel what they feel. Three stories of finding their perfect mate and what one has to go through to love and support them. the first two stories are alpha brothers who not only come to terms with a tragedy in their family but the difficulties of handling their own emotions and also those of their mates. the last story is about an omega finding his alpha, and the strength he shows to bring them together. All three stories flowed together in a contant timeline which was great. A lot of emotions and a lot of acceptance of differences made these books a very enjoyable read. I reviewed an advance copy of this book.
DNF - stopped at the third book. Obviously, a lot of people don’t base their ratings on accurate grammar and spelling - book 2 is riddled with it. I do love the “story” - but when I have to stop reading to back track to figure out that the Author made a mistake,it drives me nuts. It breaks the reader from the “world” the Author has created - UGH!!!
I took a break from reading this Author because his books are known to have errors and I thought I’d give him a try again. I’m disappointed. Hopefully, he’ll get the message and have someone proof read his work. There is so much potential with this Author I don’t understand why he’d not want it error free??? He’s doing an injustice to his own work. 😔
This bundle is a wonderful read. Each story was beautifully written and made you feel each couple's story. Their pain, sorrow, happiness and belonging. My favorite was Rylee's story. His start of life was so tragic. The fact that he survived to be found by the Guardian Pack was a blessing in its self. But to realize that not everyone was like is old packs really was touching.
Now I hope this series isn't over. I would love to see Sterling and Kellin find their lifemates.
A yummy trilogy of shifter stories that make you gasp, tear up, scream out loud and feel joyous once the omega's are finally treated as the important part of the equation to happiness! Each story riles up your compassion and stimulates your anger to red hot at the bias treatment omega's are subjected to. Mr. Walker doesn't leave us hanging though he satisfyingly wraps up each story with the happiness the Alpha's and Omega's are owed.
I liked the plots of these. I just wished the editing was done better. While it seems like the first book was edited since its first release, the second and third books were practically first drafts. There were a lot of typos, missing spaces and words that didn't belong... like they were typed with autofill. It doesn't even seem like "spell check" was run, because that would have surely caught all of the run-on words.
Book two: Let me just say that the second book was so good. The characters really developed and the emotions and story were super strong. I loved how they helped each other become better people and overcome everything they faced.
Book three: I felt like the third book started with an interesting twist, but it fell flat. Rylee was annoying and Axel deserved better tbh
Paranormal romance is one of my favorite genres and this mpreg is full of shifters and some magic. Just my cup of tea. I loved that the 2nd and 3rd stories in the bundle built on the story before it, with each brother discovering their lifemate. (I consider Rylee Ryker and Nash's brother.) I would love to see an epilogue so we can follow-up on Slate/Ryker and Axel/Rylee's additions.
The Love by the Lake bundle is a great way get to read the series nonstop til the end. You get to follow the love story of three different couples. Each new story is connected and as you read though the series you get to see the past couples continued growth. I love reading a series bundle and Love by the Lake is no exception to the love of series bundles.
This is a terrific bundle of Alpha/Omega romances! I enjoyed each of these three stories and thought that they each touched my heart with emotion and love. Each story touches on how love overcomes the very worst of circumstances. I always enjoy love winning!
You will enjoy these three stories and will be thrilled with the quality of the stories!
I wasn’t going to read these because the description was very boring sounding but I read the reviews and figured there had to be more to it and I was very surprised the first two books were so good. Rylees I didn’t care for it was kind of whiny and axel didn’t have much personality compared to the others.
I enjoyed this book immensely. Rylee and Adel both deserved some happiness in their lives. Please, please do a follow up book on them or a related character. Thank you for writing such a great work.
Well written stories that pull the reader in and keep them captivated! Challenging stories that show us that we can overcome strife with perseverance and love! Great reads!
This series just seemed like the author(s) missed the opportunity to add more details and go more in depth into plots in all the books. The books were very sweet, but I just wish the book played up more of the action battle scenes rather than a quick skit of it.
