I didn't enjoy this book as much as I thought I would.
Too high confident of Conner was killing me, and Alice inability for letting go of those three weeks in high school after so many time that Conner apology was really irritating. The twists and turns were unrealistic and very predictable. All of them make this book less and less entertaining.

This is a great second chance kind of story. Connor Rex is an up and coming surgeon and he wants the main dream job. Head of the Cardiac Surgical Unit. But he has a problem, he has a history of womanizing and the bosses don't like that. So when an old friend walks into his office he thinks he has found his answer.

Alice Holiday is a journalist that is supposed to do a piece on the up and coming Conner for a newspaper. But when Conner asks her to be his fake fiance and does it publicly without her approval she doesn't have much of an option. Needless to say, Conner has some explaining to do.

The question is can Alice get over their past, and everything that Conner is about to put her through. And can Conner stop his womanizing and find true love?

He's a heartbreaker in scrubs. Conner is a playboy trying to make good. When his not too distant past comes calling at just the right time, the doctor has a case of the love sick blues. Kira Blakely brings out the big guns with Alice and Conner. Fake It for Me seduces with humor as it tempts with heart.

Too boring

It's not like I didn't give it chance. I read til the 47% point, before finally deciding this story is going nowhere fast.
Talk about dragging on and on and on!
Maybe the second half picks up, and moves along faster than the first half did.
For me, it will be too little, too late. I just couldn't get into what seemed to me, a budding relationship between an extremely unlikeable H, and a disagreeable, rather spiteful h. One star is the best I can do.

Fake it for me by Kira Blakely a five-star read that certainly isn’t a fake. I am a huge fan of this author and also a huge fan of second chance romance, so I knew I was gonna love this story, just not exactly how much, I loved it. Connor and Alice each have a reason for what they are doing, and the reasons behind may surprise even them. This is a great example of the authors work and a great read overall.

A quick well written read. It’s very addictive, I had to read it straight through. The characters were great and the plot was captivating. Hunter was definitely the little ladies man.

Sorry author, it's hard for me to rate a book as 1 star but I didn't enjoy it in the slightest, I feel like i should used my time to read other book than this one.
I have one foot in and one foot out when i started it, from the early beginning I'm ready to take my foot out and by the middle I'm out, but don't want to dnf it so i got through it.

Spoiler but here's things that doesn't work for me:
1. The h can't never get mad at H, she doesn't know her worth despite the author trying to portrayed her as a strong independent woman and all she's not. It's so freaking easy for her to get hot and bothered by H even when she should be mad. She basically will do whatever H want her to or go wherever H want her to.
2. H too caveman-ish. So arrogant, sometimes it's funny but most of them not. He doesn't even consulted to h about going to LA just assume it'll be nice and she'll be happy in the sun with her. Yeah right, she's happy to be wherever you are you can't do no wrong to her she'll take you back regardless
3. No condom or any kind of protection during sex, they did not even talk about it before or after the deed. They separated for a decade then get it on right away, did i expected so much from the doctor character or what? Do you have that much faith with each other huh??
4. Consistency. At the beginning chapter H ask h to email her address so he can picked her up, only later they met up at the appointed restaurant separately, no mentioned or excuse about previous statement whatsoever.
5. Predictable plot. There's nothing new here, same plot from so many book put through here.
6. Full of spiteful characters. Lionel too, ogled a woman doesn't feel bad about it but then acting like a saint when H being "prosecuted" by the boards member. Don't get me start on Ritcher or what's his name.
7. It lacked the depth of the story, it's like a rough draft, there's so much that can be polishes to bring a better story.

Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..While I am happy that this got some good reviews I personally did not feel the same way. I found the heroine to be weak and a doormat with a grudge. The we have the hero a cocky arrogant narcissist, he just knew how all the woman wanted him he was the best at everything, huh I am tired of guys hero/heroines who can do no wrong, who are absolutely perfect, well this guy was not it. Alice couldn't let go of the past she was bitter which was tiring then he would just look her way and wink and all is forgiven she just lays down for him...huh yeah I am tired of these cliche stories

Well, if you can evaluate a book by the reaction you get, then this is a great read and well written. Alice Holiday is a free lance reporter. She was asked to do an in depth interview with Dr. Connor Rex, the foremost leading cardiac surgeon in all of New York and a very eligible bachelor. She parlayed her history with Connor to get the interview. They went to high school together. Connor was Alice's first everything. First kiss, first love and she had her first intimate moment with Connor. Getting to see Connor again after so many years had Alice questioning herself. She did not know that interviewing him over a period of a month would affect her the way it did. Apparently no one told Alice's heart that she was not over the humiliation and pain he had caused her at such a young age. She was a geek on the high school newspaper and was so over the moon that Connor "The King" Rex had even smiled at her. Connor was extremely popular and every girl wanted to be on his arm. When Connor decided to start going out with Alice she could not believe her luck. Then after three weeks he dumped her and treated her like she was a nobody. (I must tell you that I felt angry and outraged on her behalf and was angry at Connor for being a despicable cad.) OK anyway, Connor was up for a promotion at the hospital and he found out that he had a better chance of getting the job if he had a wife to settle him. So when he met Alice again he asked her out to dinner at a posh restaurant. She accepted because she believed that they were to discuss the interview. Connor had other plans and in front of everyone at the restaurant he fake proposed. Naturally Alice was fuming mad. but she did not want to make a scene fearing that it would go viral on the internet, she said yes. Well you can guess when they were alone she let him have it. But then things got way more complicated than either of them anticipated. Alice had a chip on her shoulder and Connor found it difficult to face what an inconsiderate, immature, user he was when he was in high school. Over the next few weeks she got to see Connor in a different light and he had to face the reality of what he had been. She started to believe she could forgive him. That maybe he had changed. Alice debated that a leopard did not change its spots. So, there was another doctor, Richter Delahunt, who was gunning for the same position as Connor. Richter played dirty to try and get the promotion over Connor. Well, all heck broke loose and it put Connor in a compromising situation that would ruin the fledgling relationship he had with Alice and would ruin his chances for the promotion. This was an excellent book. Full of descriptive emotions that shared what was going on in Alice's and Connor's mind. You will really enjoy reading this book, I know I did. I was granted a copy of the book from the author. I have read multiple books from the author and I like her writing style. Her characters are real in a way you can relate to them.

This book features Connor Rex, a single father cardiac surgeon, and Alice Holiday, a freelance journalist. Because I want to become a surgeon, this book has a special place in my heart; after all who doesn't love a sexy-as-shit doctor? I for one could use one of those :-p.

Connor is the top in his field, with a reputation for his work as well as his personal life. He's kind of a legend to be exact. Alice and Connor used to be high school classmates. They dated for a while, but that didn't end very well. Alice still remembers how things went down, after all he was her first. However it wasn't all roses. Connor wasn't the best man back then. He treated women like clothes, changed them after a week or two. The same happen between them, with the exception that Connor ended it because he started to have feelings for Alice.

After all these years the chemistry between them is still present and when Connor is backed in the corner and in need of a fake fiance, Alice is his first choice. Through the book I really felt the attraction and the chemistry.

Hunter, Connor's son, is such a cutie; a little ladies man like his father. I wanted to see more interactions between him and Alice.

At times I was really frustrated with both Alice and Connor for not telling each other how they feel. I mean come on they are both grown adults. However, if they did we would be missing the drama that occur at the end!

This is an enjoyable read that I could envision reading at the beach this summer! You should probably give it a try!!

Entertaining with the right amount of drama and steam. Alice and Connor briefly dated in high school but it ended poorly. Now, years later work has them crossing paths again. This time they both need something from each other to advance in their jobs. Could it be their second chance or history repeating itself? This was a great love story that was well written and takes off from the beginning. The characters are well developed and have a real chemistry. The way Kira Blakely writes and how she's able to keep the emotions so real is incredible. I love that Connor is cocky but not in an arrogant way and his son, Hunter, is just too adorable for words! Alice is a little tainted as she struggles to put the past behind her and give in to second chances. A single dad, fake proposal and a second chance, this one has a lot of boxes checked but that's what makes it a must read!
I received an ARC for an honest and voluntary review.

Fake It For Me by Kira Blakely Fake It For Me By: Kira Blakely
When Deception Becomes Reality...
He wants his promotion, but he's been given an ultimatum... Settle down or forget it!
She wants an article, but he broke her teenage heart; NOW, he's forced her into a FAKE engagement or else NO article...
With every passing day, she's pulled deeper into the deception, she's remembering how much he hurt her before, & she's falling deeper in LOVE with him ALL OVER AGAIN, which makes her a fool twice over, because it's only a game to the King, & he's sure to leave her brokenhearted once again when everything's said & done... Right?!
I was granted an ARC of Kira Blakely's "Fake It For Me." I'm gladly recommending it based upon its own merits. I look forward to more opportunities to read Kira's work in the future. All opinions expressed within this review are uniquely my own & freely given.
Until next time... Happy Reading!

Hmm. This book got me a little tense with how confident Conner was at his ability to pull off the deception, by roping in an unsuspecting Alice, his one-time girlfriend in high school. He was the king of high school then and Alice was one of many girlfriends he had. And I say girlfriend is a rather polite way of describing the king's girls. He broke her heart. Alice eventually got over it. So now, fast forward to the future, Alice wants to interview him, Conner needs a fake fiancee to win the promotion. So he proposes that she poses as his fiancee until he gets it and he'll grant her an interview. And then things get a little more interesting.

He's matured more now, what with a son in tow. It's a little sad we don't see more of Hunter in the story since Conner is suppose to be a good dad and I was expecting more interaction between Hunter and Conner and Alice as a group and then as pairs. Alice is great. Still a little hungover what happened between them but that's to be expected. And then both of them realize Alice meant more to Conner than just a quick lay...and how much that spark then never really went away.

Of course there's a happy ending! You can't fake love. And this little story had me rooting for them all the way.

I received a copy of the book for my honest opinion.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Dr Connor Rex and Alice Holiday. Connor has been put on clinical rotation because the board of his hospital believes that he needs to be more connect to the patients coming into the hospital. However a week after starting them he is called before the board to be informed that he is one of two candidates being considered for the position of Chief of Cardiac Surgery. Connor wants this position and when his old mentor gives him a hint that might give him a leg up he thinks he might just know the woman who can help him. Alice isn't sure what his motives are for asking her to help him but there is just something about their history and her nose for a story that have her trying to figure it all out. Will they both get what they want in the end or will this just be another chapter in their story?

This is an amazing story. It has it's ups and downs that I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin the story for anyone else. I will however tell you that you will be hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

This was a wonderful quick read for me. Conner and Alice dated in high school, but ended badly when Conner dumped her callously because he was scared of the feelings he was having for her. He was the typical hotshot bad boy player that had all of the girls fawning over him. She was the typical high school nerd that had no fashion sense because she had her head buried in a book. Fast forward to adulthood, Conner has become a hotshot heart surgeon and Alice a strong, independent freelance journalist. She just got the chance of a lifetime to interview Conner Rex, one of NYC most-eligible bachelors. While Conner has the chance of a lifetime to become one of the youngest head of cardiac surgeons, however, he needs to settle down first. In walks Alice and the attraction is still there for both of them. Conner decides to give Alice an all access pass to his life in exchange for one little thing....Alice needs to pretend to be his fiancée until he’s awarded the promotion. What could possibly go wrong in a month? Little do they know fate has different plans for them...the new question becomes can they admit to their true feelings and overcome some pretty awful obstacles to find their true happiness?

Connor Rex is New York's most eligible surgeon and he's the one who took Alice's V card ten years earlier. He was a player and just kept moving on to the next girl. Fate brings them together when she's assigned to interview him for a story on eligible bachelors. He agrees if she will agree to a fake fiance for one month to help secure his promotion. Old chemistry resurfaces and the roller coaster begins. No spoiler here, but he's a changed man, He's no longer a player and his concentration is on his medical career and being a father to his young son. A good read with developed characters and an entertaining story. I read a reader copy and voluntarily

This second chance story is about Alice and Connor. They date for a short time in high school and Connor broke Alice’s heart and years later they meet again. Alice is a writer and loves her job and is assigned to write an in-depth article about Connor who is a very successful doctor. Connor is shocked to see Alice again but after meeting with the board he sees a way to win the new position and get to know Alice again. Alice agrees to help out Connor and becomes his fake fiancé and Connor seemed to never clue her in to what’s happening and the other doctor up for the promotion causes them some problems. Along the way both Alice and Connor start to have true feelings for one another and do not know what to do with them. Will all the lies catch up to them and will their emotional journey cause heartbreak all over again? Connor goes out on a limb to show Alice what she really means to him, can she forgive Connor and try to make a go of it? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Connor Rex's reputation preceded him. In high school, he was called "King." He would date just about all of the beauties and then after a week, he would dump them. Here is where he first met Alice, the nerd. He dated her for three weeks this should have let her know that she was different from the others. But when he dumped her she was devastated. He acted like he didn't even know her. We are now ten years later and Connor is the most gifted cardiac surgeon in NY. There is an opening at his hospital for the head of that department. He wants the job, but his mentor and board member Lionel let him know that a bachelor is not a good fit for the position. Enter Alice Holiday, a freelance journalist who wants an in-depth. interview Because she has known Connor since high school her boss gives her the assignment. Connor makes a bargain with her that he'll do it if she will pretend to be his fake fiancee. After some thought, she agrees! A good read, I enjoyed the play between Alice and Connor.

Fake It For Me non fa parte della schiera.

Good well written story but finally quite predictable despite the twist in the end. The characters are great, even if I thought that Alice was sometimes too good for Connor : He keeps making the same mistakes of telling her nothing before it happens. She has to follow him whatever he needs….even if he quickly apologizes afterward.
Connor Rex is a single father of a 5 years old boy, and he wants to be the chief of cardiac surgery where he works. To have the post, he needs to have a good reputation even if he hadn’t done anything since the birth of his child. When Alice, an ex girlfriend from highschool comes to ask for an interview, he proposes her a deal : she will have the interview if she accepts to be his fake fiancé.
When she accepts, they have to face the hospital’s board, and the jealousy of another doctor who wants the job too, whatever it cost him.

Connor is a doctor up for a big promotion. Alice is a reporter and needs to do an article on him for her job. They were friends back in high school and even sleep together. Connor decides he will do this interview for her if she will help him in return. He is told by a person on the board at the hospital that he will not get the promotion if he does not 'settle down'. So he wants Alice to pretend to be his fiance for a month and by then he will have been promoted and they can go their separate ways. She agrees because she needs the interview will help her career.

Things were going so well with the fake engagement until several things started to go wrong at once and boy did they have their hands full trying to work around each one of them. The attraction and connection grows as they get to know one another. I am a big fan of Kira's stories and look forward to the next one.

Kira Blakely writes books that continue to touch my heart. The sweetness that Conner shows Alice is beautiful!

High school sweethearts, nerdy and backwards Alice captured the attention of “King” Conner. He broke her heart when he chose to move on to the next girl in line, as was his norm. Conner’s grown up now, hot as hell, and a cardiac surgeon in NYC. When Alice approaches him about doing an article if the hottest bachelors he finds himself once again captivated by Alice. When he’s told he up for promotion but it’s recommended that he find himself a partner and settle down, Alice is the one he turns to. Showing her he’s a changed person proves to be somewhat difficult, especially when outside forces try to paint Conner into a less than respectable and faithful man.

Learning to trust and forgive is the basis of this wonderful book. Second chances are hard to come by, but Conner and Alice don’t waste their opportunity.

Conner and Alice dated for a few weeks in high school and she gave him all her firsts and then he broke her heart. Conner is now the best cardiac surgeon in the city and is hoping to get promoted. He is up against a man who isn't the best but has settled down. Alice is a free lance reporter and has been given the task of getting an interview of Conner. She decides to use their history to try to get it. Conner sees Alice as the one who got away and who could also help him by being his fake fiance. They come up with a compromise, but she wants to keep her heart intact this time around. What starts out as pretending ends up being more. Will they both come out of this agreement with their hearts intact and can Alice forgive what Conner did in the past? This has some backstabbing, blackmail, jealousy and love that never really left. The connection that Conner and Alice has is very strong and their chemistry is hot, hot, hot.

Conner is a great cardiac surgeon but when it comes to getting a promotion he is up for he is lacking because of him being single. Alice has known Conner since high school when they had three great weeks together. She thought everything was great until it wasn't. Alice approaches Conner for an interview for her job. He is the number hottest bachelor in the city. When she sees him again after all these years everything she felt for him came rushing back. Conner agrees to do the interview but only if she'll pretend to be his fiancé so he can get his promotion. However things change from fake to real in a blink of an eye. Can they be together without it becoming something very real?

This was a great story that will grab your attention from the beginning and keep it until the end. The chemistry between Alice and Conner is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this to any book lover.

Take one overly charming doctor, pair him up with one of his Highschool loves and you've got Connor and Alice's story!
All is fair in love and war- both of them go into their awkward partnership with different needs. Bargaining for the outcomes they desire only seems appropriate! Alice, a reporter needs, an exclusive interview on the eligible bachelor, Connor needs a fake fiance to secure his spot as head Cardiac Surgeon- If Alice agrees to play the part, he will give her an all-access pass into his world over the time of their fake arrangement.
Should be simple enough- but as the old saying goes, if it looks to be good to be true it probably is.
While I found parts of this story interesting, I had a hard time relating to the characters or see the connection between them. I did not understand how the "reporter" did not have basic facts on her subject before starting- or how the "troublemaker" was quick to relent.. maybe it's me!
All in all a pretty good read.

Faking love?...not possible.

Connor Rex. Handsome, ripped, a very successful career, and every woman wants him or had him. What more can he want? Head of the Cardiac Surgical Unit. Problem. He has to be seen as a potentially responsible family man and that means finding a significant other to play his fake fiance' for a month.
Alice Holiday journalist. Old college fling has bitter sweet memories of him that gets her through his door for an interview. She intends not to publish something like puff pastry but more the story that will knock your socks off and earning her the kudos she's worked hard towards. But before Connor even grants her her wish he has a proposition for her. Problem; can they really fake it and get what they both want? Can Alice get over her jaundiced opinion of Connor and see the changed man beneath the reputation. Fake or no its a journey and a half to discovery. And one can't fake love. Recommended hugely.

Connor is a successful heart surgeon, and a handsome heart breaker. Alice is a journalist and her next story is on the single, handsome bachelor in town. Once she finds out it's Connor she starts thinking about their pasts. They dated in high school and he broke her heart, she thought she was over him and could do this article without an issue. Then she sees him again and all the old feelings come back. Connor is trying to further his career and become the head of the department. He is a single father who never wants to be trapped in a relationship, playing the field is what he's happy with. Then when he sees Alice, he starts to feel the old feelings too. He wasn't aware he hurt her so bad all those years ago. Now with her having to write this article and him trying to further his career, they have to work together and they both realize their feelings haven't changed since the last time they were together.

Kira Blakely never disappoints with her fast-moving romances. This one could be classified as a second chance romance, and I do enjoy watching this couple figure out their future while discussing their past. Alice is a freelance writer who happens to be assigned an article on her former high school flame, Conner Rex, now a cardiac surgeon. She was the awkward nerd, he was king of the campus. Their romance only lasted a few weeks, but made a big impression on them both. When they meet again, she needs an article and he needs a fake fiance. His habit of not telling the whole truth is an issue, and her hurt from how he left things when they were young need an outlet before they can make things work.
