Well, this didn't work out too well for me...
Skye was stupid, as in far too stupid to live. I can't even remember all the times she foolishly placed herself in mortal danger, only to be saved by some hunk.
Hunter was... meh. Boring, to be honest. I'll have forgotten all about him by this time tomorrow.
The love story was so insta, kitschy and saccharine, it nearly gave me diabetes.
The writing was repetitive and flowery, full of cheesy similes.
The ending was far too convenient to be anywhere near believable.
But, I really did like the lore. It was a new, original take on the mermaid tale, one I really would've loved to learn more about.
Plus, I liked some of the secondary characters, and I did manage to finish the book, which isn't self-evident for me these days.
Again, it's obvious that this book was written for a completely different audience than me, say 15 years younger, which probably played a big part in why I couldn't connect with it.
So if you're still young (unlike me), are into tame YA stuff and looking for some great mysticism: go for it!

Compelling...
This book draws you in right from the start. As you journey along with Skye you really want to find out all the secrets about the mysterious Hunter and if that can be together. It's a perfect blend of fantasy and subtle romance. The ending is satisfying and yet leaves you wanting more.
Perfect for fans of The Watersong Series and Twilight.

Loved it!
Such a good read! You just get totally pulled in and can't stop reading! It really takes you into its own world - I just love these kinds of books that create their own intense reality and pull you into the story. Skye and Hunter are such great characters and Sky is really relatable and likeable. I highly recommend this book!

What a great first book to this series!
I really love Disney's version of the Little Mermaid. So to be able to read a story which is the total opposite of how my idea of Mermaids/Merman in this case the Nemaro. Was really fascinating and at times dark but in such a good way! It's so tragic yet there lies this hope. And the attraction between Skye & Hunter gives me all the feels! They are so perfect for each other. So many twists and turns and surprises my gosh! Towards the end... I was sooo HAPPY! It's sooo GOOD! I don't want to post any spoilers. But i highly recommend this as a must read for sure. From the very beginning this story draws you in and you can't stop reading until the end. I definitely wanted to know what happens next in this story! So glad that there's another part!

A Well Written Read!!🐚👍 2.5 Stars 🌟
Skye Sebastian is 17 and returning to the Island where she grew up, for the summer, until her mother's mysterious death. Her Dad has become obsessed with folklore about the sea, it's as though he's convinced his wife could return if he could just solve the puzzle!! She had apparently walked into the sea & was never seen again, her body was never found! Skye doesn't believe this, but she misses her best friend Morgan & the Sea has been calling her home!!🐚🌊
Hunter is an enigma. He's managed to be there when ever Skye has needed help. She definitely feels a strong connection to him but there's something slightly 'off'. Like why does he disappear all of the time and how come no one else seems to have noticed him yet?😳 He's gorgeous, the girls should be all over him ... Then again maybe she's quite glad she's got him to herself!!😉

Lol) I liked the mysticism of the storyline but it was told so far into the book I was almost beyond caring at that point, which is a real shame!! 😞 I'm really quite surprised there will be a follow on book, but again I think this is more about it not being to my taste!! This one wasn't for me I'm afraid but the writing really was excellent!!!👍

Amazing, couldn't put it down! A real page turner!
If you are a Twilight or Mortal Instruments fan you will love this! Mysterious and suspenseful, full of danger and romance.
I love Skye, she's real, she's the kind of heroine you can relate to and the story hooked me in from the beginning.
This book is the perfect read. Can't wait for the next one!!

I found this book really interesting, just a few things were off about it. Firstly, I don't agree where it says, "These old stories, the underlying menace and cruelty, the doomed-to-failure heroes, rang truer to her than the Disney versions of happily ever after. They got that sometimes the people who tried hardest, or had the most to lose, lost. Virtue wasn't always rewarded. The wicked triumphed, and evil didn't get paid out, or not until the hero had suffered so horribly you had to wonder if the reward was worth the price." I prefer the Disney version. At least some of them show you don't need a man in your life.
And also some scenes were a little...you know...spicy? Idk the word.
Anything else I can add? Nothing I can think of atm.

Skye is afraid of the ocean but decides to go back to the Island where she spent her early childhood. She is forced to confront her fears almost as soon as she leaves the main land.
I enjoyed Find Me. The story was unexpected. I really thought the underlying myth was going to be different than what it turned out to be and I'd say it was pretty unique.
Find Me has an absorbing plot with just enough suspense to make you keep turning pages.
I honestly think the author could have ended it as it stands in book 1, but apparently there will be a book 2 released. I'm pretty curious where the story will go from here.

This book is very well written! The only reason I docked a star is because it is very slow paced, I found myself putting the book down a lot and getting distracted. It was a little odd actually because the first chapter pulled me in and then it kind of died off for me. But never fear once they go into the mythic backgrounds it picked up! I wish it happened a little sooner so I could've enjoyed it more but that's just me! I'd definitely pick up the second book but I dont think it's one that I'll rush to read, more as a "okay so what's next" or while in a book slump.

This book was giving Twilight meets Real Mermaids Don’t Wear Toe Rings and I'm still deciding how to feel about that. Was my comparison completely accurate? No, but I'd say it was about 60% there.
I wouldn't say it was a bad book, there were definitely interesting bits and pieces to it. However I will say that I was skimming the last 25% of it because I just wanted to get it over with (I think the book was unnecessarily long, but we won't get into that). The drama and mystery aspects of it were what kept me going because I too wanted to know the truth of what happened to Skye's mom. The parts that made me roll my eyes and skim were pretty much every scene with Hunter.
Hunter is so frickin dramatic for no reason. This is where my Twilight comparison comes in, because he's all (while looking angsty and dark and mysterious but also irresistible), "No, stay away from me, I could hurt you. I love you but loving me will only bring you pain" *angsty love interest noises.* And then Skye (ala Bella in New Moon) is like (while being so beautiful ig but thinking she's plain and uninteresting), "No, I just met you but when you're gone it's like my heart is ripping in two, I will find you (wink wink)" *cries in 2012 MC*
They are just so uncompelling as main characters because they don't do anything. They mostly just get walked over by other characters, or if they actually take the initiative to do something themselves, it's somehow related to the other person and probably causes more problems. Skye's DAD was more interesting than Skye was. Oh, I'm supposed to feel bad for Hunter? Sorry, I can't because he has the same amount of personality as a piece of wet cardboard.
Also, I just don't like them as love interests for each other. Maybe it's a me problem, but I can't get behind the "thousands-year-old being falls in love with a 17-year-old" trope. ESPECIALLY this 17-year-old. Throw in the chaos with like every boy on the island who was attracted to Skye, and you get the classic "girl thinks she's not special but then every guy with raging hormones is attracted to her" subplot.
Also also, prepare to be disappointed if you're expecting

Like I said, the mystery of what happened to Skye's mom and the spiral of Skye's dad was really the only thing that kept me reading. I also liked reading Rowena and Morgan's restaurant arc. But I don't think I'll be reading this one again.

- The book is very light and easy to read, for those of you who are afraid of big books. -
The story takes place in a small town called Banimor, a city that is surrounded by a myth...or a curse.
Find me, centres the story of a girl, who lost her mother at very young age, to the waters of the Ocean Beach. A mystery death that, brings to the surface many fantasy stories and myths, regarding the creatures that may be living in the shalow depths of the ocean.
There is more than meets the pages, but the author males sure to keep you in between its chapters, never wanting to let you go. Making sure the reader will return, hungry for more.
It’s so captivating, that you will start feeling as part of the story.
Our main character, a very strong willed and strong girl, -Skye- who comes back in her hometown, for the summer holidays. Holidays, in which she will ask herself if her comeback was a good decision or not.
On her way to her best friend, who she’ll be staying at, Skye, encounters some wierd things. First, she loses her ferry, then, she tries to find someone who can take her all the way to Banimor. On the sea, something happens, and all the boata that were on the sea at that moment, colide. Moments in which, she desperately tries to save a small girl, that was with her on the same boat, with her mum.
After saving the girl, Skye, who starts feeling exhausted, begins to slowly drown. To her rescue, though, comes a boy with an angelic face. One that no one sees.
Once she is being brought to safety, strange things start to happen. If at first, people don’t put the blame on Skye’s comeback, after a while they take a huge toll on her. As time passes, she feels more and more drawn to the sea.
Hunter is not your average character. Although, nobody else notices him, there seems to be a certain someone who does.
“She stared at him, a dark-haired angel against the silk backdrop of sea and sky, dusted in gold as the sun rose above the hills behind her.”
And that’s where their very intricate story starts. A story that will hunt both him and Skye.
Everytime Skye returns to the sea, he seems to feel her presence and appears out of thin water. Just like a shodow, beneath the surface.
“Imagine you’ve been alone in the dark, so dark you see nothing, so cold you feel nothing. Then through the darkness a light appears, the purest, most beautiful light. I really enjoyed Find Me! Skye decides to spend her summer holidays visiting her best friend at her ocean home. She hasn’t been back in years, since her mom drowned there when she was young. But this summer she decides to face her fears and visit the sea again since she used to love it so much. There she meets Hunter, a mysterious boy who no one else seems to notice, and who she only ever runs into at the beach. There’s plenty of mystery and intrigue in this story to keep you reading. What really happened to Skye’s mom? Who is Hunter and what is he hiding? Why does no one else know him? There’s also lots of romance in this book as Skye and Hunter get to know each other. I loved the descriptions in this book, especially of the sky and the sea - it is a beautifully written novel. This is very much a young adult novel - easy to read and fairly insta-lovey - but I still really enjoyed it. It reminded me a lot of Twilight so if you enjoyed that, you will like Find Me!

A beautiful mix of Twilight and The Little Mermaid 💙🌴🐠

I started this book not really knowing much about what I was getting myself into. I was honestly expecting it to be lower grade writing with cliche dynamics and a predictable plot, but boy was I wrong!
The whole basis of the book was extremely unique and I didn’t see the ending coming at all. I grew to adore Skye and Hunter were much. I’m still on the fence about Morgan and Amber though, lol. 🤷🏼♀️
One of the things I love about this book the most is it could work as a stand-alone or you can continue on with the next three books in the series. Which, I will definitely pick the next one up in the future, but for now I feel very satisfied with where the first is leaving off. My heart is happy, the adventure was rich, the emotions were very raw. All in all, this was a stellar read and I 100% recommend you to take a shot on this one! ✨🌊

I really wanted to love this book. I love fairytale retellings, but this one just wasn’t for me.
I struggled with the way this book was written in third person. Some third person books immerse you so well into the story you don’t even realize it’s not first person. The authors style made me feel I was reading the book through frosted glass. It was hard to connect to Skye and feel like I understood her.
I made it about 1/3 through before I gave up. The story moved really slow for me and I stopped at chapter 27, read the epilogue and felt satisfied so I stopped.
I did like the idea behind the story, the mystery around what happened with her mom and the mystery of the group of kids only Skye seemed to see. I just didn’t feel the pull to keep reading.

On one level this is a story of loss and love and redemption, but what I really loved about it was how the author describes the sea, the waves, the beach. It’s really a love letter to the sea, so it was ideal reading for me on my summer holiday, looking out at the ocean. “After the longest pause something settled into her soul, smooth and warm like a tide-polished, sun-warmed beach stone.” Yes, the protagonist should have turned on her heel and gone away from the sea, knowing it could kill her, but it haunted her and fascinated her too much. I know just how she feels. Light summer reading, with an undercurrent of a dark fairy tale.

A nice fairytale twist
I really enjoyed this book.
My desire for fairytales, fantasy, danger, and romance were all satisfied. With a 'Little Mermaid' meets 'Twilight' kind of feel Francesca really pulled me in with the need to see what happened. Questions filles my head with possible outcomes. Will Skye and Hunter end up together? Will she become a Nemaro? Will tragedy strike and the ending be sad and mournful?
I have to say, I enjoyed how this part ended and I look forward to seeing where the story goes. Still so many open possibilities ahead of us.

I have to say, I enjoyed how this part ended and I look forward to seeing where the story goes. Still so many open possibilities ahead of us.

A fishy tale
Started off really well, good characters and storyline, but midway through the story it got a bit repetitive. It Definitely pulled itself back though with the remaining quarter and ended with just enough to make you want to read the next installment.
For me though I was quite happy with the ending. I liked the storyline when it found its rhythm it was a real page turner. I felt it was aimed at a younger audience but enjoyed it all the same.
Very sweet and endearing with just enough drama to keep you entertained.

Good Read
3.5 Stars... This was out of my comfort zone, but I enjoyed it for a mermaid/merman book. 400 and so pages I seriously thought this book was going on forever. I felt that even though the events were different each time they felt repetitive. I did get lost on some of the explanation of Hunters world, then explained better towards end. Over all it was a good read. Just not interested in the rest of story so won't be continuing. I at least dipped my toes in the water. Recommend to ages 16 and up. Does have swearing and death so beware...😘 Gina Clabo

I couldn’t put this book down! It was so original and romantically inspiring that it warmed my very soul. This may be listed as a young adult paranormal mystery romance, but any adult, young, old, or in between, can truly enjoy this book. I can’t wait to read her next book in the series, Follow Me.

Beautiful and Unique
I absolutely love this story. The writing is beautiful, and the story is amazingly different. I will say that for readers who want fast-paced novels only, this might not be for you. While the story may be slower than some, it is still one that is impossible to put down. It grabs you with its unique story, beautiful style, and amazing characters. I can not wait to continue this series.

AMAZING!!!! 5+++ stars!! What a great start to a new series!! Witty and wonderful characters bring this book to life for the reader. So happy I was introduced to this author. The unique storyline draws you right in. I couldn't put it down!! I was hooked from page one. This one is MUST read!! To me it reads like an old myth would.....so enjoyable!!! Can't wait to get into book 2!!

Clunky, but the story is good!
I really enjoyed this, and at about 30% done I couldn’t put it down! The story is really intriguing, even if the writing comes off a little clunky in some spots. I don’t feel the writing overall is clunky, just pieces. It was a fun read! Definitely checking out the next one.

Just ok
So I was really intrigued by thinking this stories was about mermaids/sirens...which in ways it is. However I felt it dragged a lot and I just wanted to get to the gist of things. I didn't dislike the story at all ..it was still unique and somewhat interesting. I guess it just wasn't what I thought it would be so it was more of a 3.5 stars for me.

This was almost painful to read. It's supposed to be a mix of Twilight and the Little Mermaid but Twilight is written better...and that's saying something. This was almost incomprehensible at times and read more like a wattpad story than anything else. I made it 20% of the way through and had to quit. Reader beware. I will sit through many a crappy mermaid book but this one even chased ME away.

Didn't manage to finish this book... it's not totally bad, but the pacing felt waaay off and the writing style just wasn't for me... So, yeah, I got in like 10 chapters and then didn't make it farther, cause I got bored with the story, irritated by the pacing and annoyed with the main character... 🤷♀️😬

Beautiful and intriguing love story
When you pick up a book about mermaids you never know what you’re going to get. This story is quite different from any I’ve read before and I truly enjoyed it. The next book is definitely on my to read list.

Keeps you on edge
With this book, you never know what is coming, which way is up or down. Most stories are predictable to me but this one kept me guessing and rereading parts to be sure I was truly reading what I was. I can't wait to read the next 2 books!

An intriguing story
I like this book. It was a little slow at the beginning but then it picked up the pace pretty quick the premise is very interesting. I did get a little annoyed with the wishy-washiness of the main character, But not enough to put the book down.
