A bomb explodes on a crowded Chicago street. A cab driver dies, and so does Jack Beckett’s friend. Someone is going to pay. Six blocks away the bomber slips into the night not knowing what happened. The bomb was intended for City Hall but was left in a backpack under the seat of a cab. Unintended consequences. Entirely bad luck for Beckett’s childhood friend.
The bomber belongs to a group of anarchists. Young idealists with twisted ideas living on a farm south of Chicago. They have plans. So does Beckett who is closing in by the hour. Beckett will make them pay. All he needs is a little more time. Will he find them before they take dozens more innocent lives?
Praise for Jack Beckett Adventures. “Jack Beckett reminds me of Jack Reacher. If you enjoy lots of action and adventure, read D.G. Baxter’s books.” – Terry “The Beckett series is one of the best ever. I really need more. I can’t get enough of the characters and especially the banter.” – GMR
You waste no time finding out how this book gets it's name. Beckett is waiting for a friend and just as she is getting out of the cab, it explodes. So now it is personal and Jack is immediately involved. 30 miles south of Chicago is a wannabe anarchist group. The bomb was supposed to have been detonated at City Hall. Members of the group were recruited from all over the country, but not all were on board with killing innocent people. Beckett has to do a lot of traveling and following a lot of clues before ultimately ending up 30 miles south of Chicago. Very good read!
The Bomber is the fourth book in the Jack Beckett Thrillers and is an explosive read, literally!
D.G. Baxter has brought forth another action-packed thriller as Jack Beckett watches his friend get blown up as she exits a cab. He needs to know who and why. This fast-paced story is an amazing race against the clock as Beckett closes in on the bomber.
I am loving this series and cannot wait to read the next one. I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
This entire series is a page turner. Jack Beckett is an outside the box investigator and an asset to the FBI. The only downside is that there were numerous mispellings/missing letters in words. I am looking forward to starting the 5th book in the series.
