Words tumble out, with no pause;
From the pen, my anelace,
That I hold so graciously,
(In awe of its majesty, its power)
In my hand.

They form thoughts, hopes and musings;
Reflect my soul, my entire being,
And spread across the page,
Like scattered constellations
Across the sky.

Scattered Constellations by Ankita Singh is a collection of free-verse poetry. It's a collection of poems that have been written over-time, covering various experiences such a loss in the sense of heartbreak and friendship, desire, want etc.

I feel poetry no matter what style it's written in, should be able to evoke feelings of emotional connection, and make that light go off in your head, making you think, analyze, sympathize and feel the plight of the poet and others who may have felt this way.

I love when I read poetry collections, and feel a sense of connection with an ominous feel to it but for this, I did not, not because the poems aren't good, but it came across to me like prose, more or less reading the direct thoughts of the poet, like nicely worded diary entries.

It's an okay debut, which I believe still needs a lot of work. But I think as time passes the poet will be able to shape and grow her signature artistic voice.

Scattered Constellation by Ankita Singh is a collection of beautiful verses. With simple words and impeccable heart, the young poetess writes about love, desire, reveries and many more. The things we experience and the emotions we feel cannot be better described than the words used by the author herself. Her poems are filled with love and admiration towards the subject with the lack of any pride or pretension, elucidating the appreciation for the individuals rather than all the decorations that adorns them. Also, the poetess involve the excruciating yearning in her lines that we all have experienced at least once in our lifetime.

“I know you will be gone
Sooner than the arrival of dawn,
Yet my heart yearns, for some moments more.”
So, for a light read of words this summer, do try to check this book out!

A collection of poetry looking at all aspects of love.

I really enjoyed reading Ankita Singh’s collection Scattered Constellations and all the way through I kept thinking ‘Oh, that’s exactly how I used to feel when I was a young woman’ or ‘I would have been so helped by these poems when I was struggling with the concept of love as a teenager,’ without actually realising until afterwards that I was reading an anthology aimed at the Young Adult (YA) market! I think this goes to show what an excellent collection this is for readers aged 15-25.

Ankita Singh explores all kinds of love in her poems. There is everything from burgeoning sensuality to familial, same sex, unrequited, mutual, controlling and prevented love so that there really is a poem for everyone between the pages of Scattered Constellations. I found the poems Gold and Colour especially poignant because sadly we still live in a world where the hue of someone’s skin can affect every aspect of their life – even love.

Scattered Constellations made me think of W.B. Yeats’ ‘tread softly for you tread on my dreams’ because Ankita Singh explores so vividly how love is the stuff of dreams, of the mind and soul as well as the heart. She doesn’t use elaborate language or self-consciously literary techniques in presenting her poems so that they feel real, true and authentic. I think Ankita Singh is a very perceptive and talented young post and definitely one to watch.

Scattered Constellations is well worth dipping into as I’m sure you’ll find a poem that tells your story too.

I don’t normally read poetry anymore. It’s something I used to love long ago, but had gone away from recently. I picked up this collection of poems that someone in a book group I’m in wrote. I figured I’d skim it. I read the whole thing, fairly quickly. Some of the versus were nice but didn’t mean anything to me. So many of the other versus spoke directly to me; it’s as if I could have written them myself. They made me feel things, remember past emotions that I thought I had dealt with, etc. Most importantly, it made me feel like I wasn’t so alone. I love when simple words can help heal your soul.

Reading the thoughts of another is a powerful feeling to have, it allows you the chance to become part of a person’s world that you may never physically know. That is what poetry is to me.

I believe the Singh beautifully demonstrated her world for the world in quick short poems that then became gathered to form Scattered Constellations.

Unfortunately for me the words seemed at times to be more of ramblings as oppose to being poetry. And yes I do understand that it is in the form of Free Verse.

I enjoyed more than a few of the poems. And I think this is a great debut to introduce herself. I just wished it was more polished. The poems range in order from love, self discovery, praises for a loved one, to brokenness. It was an up and down roller coaster of feelings. Maybe that is what Ankita intended. Maybe they were placed in an order to symbolize the chronological events of her life. I’m not really sure.

First off... I know, I know don't judge a book by its cover - but we all do! This one is no exception, gorg!!!! I'm not super huge into poetry, but I will read it if given the opportunity. This collection seemed to be a collection of love, friendship and broken heartedness. I think many people can find themselves in a least one poem here, I know I found myself with a little smile "yup, been there" - it kept me interested and was relatable. Kudos <3

Dark and beautifully heartrending in some places, Ankita's Scattered Constellations weaves a story that most people will experience in their lives but will never be able to fully explain using words. Ankita captures those feelings that can live within everyone, using her beautiful prose and magnificent flare as a fantastic storytelling tool. Surely a book of poetry that belongs on your bookshelf!

All About Love

3.5 It's always really hard to review poetry books because a lot of the time it comes from the the heart, or are their personal feelings. Not all were well written, and I know that poetry doesn't need to rhyme, I feel like it at least needs to have the same flow throughout the poem. There were a few that seemed inconsistent.

The entire book is about love and broken hearts. And what I assume to be personal experiences.

Scattered Constellations is a book that i feel everyone should read.WHY? you ask..... Well, allow me to state the pleasing four reasons.

Firstly,Scattered Constellations is vivid and lively poetry that flowed from the beautiful mind of the author into the pages, making its way to the reader's heart. While I was reading this book,I could feel every sentences filled with so much emotion that it hard not to notice Ankita's hard work, creativity and sheer determination to make feel the intensity of her words. Each poem describes a person's feeling to a certain situation, some words that were spoken and some left unsaid, the battles we fight in our minds and the dilemmas of our heart.

Secondly, you can loose yourself in this book and forgot the world.Even after finishing, you will be thinking about these poems and that's precisely what happened to me. Ankita's words highlighted the simple and joys of family and kitty ( love you,Harry-Chan) as well as the regrets, heartbreaks and disappointment that everyone goes through one way or the other.

Thirdly, look at that cover....... isn't it gorgeous. the background is aesthetically designed and it's one of the pretty book covers i have seen.

And lastly but most importantly, i am very sure she chose the title of her book fastidiously because like the constellations scattered across the vast universe, her poetry have the power to bring the readers from around together by a sense of unity, you can relate to them on so many levels.

This was a 5 out of 5 stars read and i will definitely be picking it up for a re-read soon because this is a sort of book that you'll love to go back to over and over again and never ever get bored.

I will be avidly waiting to read her next book.

My review:
Scattered Constellations was a great read firstly. It is a poetry book following the common free verse pattern nowadays. Ankita Singh has done a good job with this book.
Scattered Constellations contains poetry on a vast number of themes such as love- romantic, familial as well as platonic; friendship, family, appearances in terms of racial distinctions etc. I found them really eye opening.
The book was also very finely edited and proofread, as I hardly noticed any errors. The whole format was pretty nice in the ARC but I am eager to see how the actual paperback turns out. I think that this book makes a good gift- the poems are bound to touch every other reader.
My personal favourites in this collection are quite a few, some of which are Tell Me, Taboo, Our Kinda Love, Colour, It Wasn’t Just Sadness, Sisters, Trophy Girl etc. I enjoyed the book and it took me less than a day as I read and stopped to think, and then resumed, again and again.
Verdict:
I rate it a 4/5 stars as I wait for the paperback to come out.

Scattered Constellations is collection of poetry and verses. Author has weaved her emotions in words and gave it a face of beautiful poetry. I always knew words can be so effective that it can sooth heart and soul..and I found that comforting affect in between the pages of this book.
Author has shared her experiences of heart break through this book and it is not all she shared her gratitude to people in her life!!
Her poetry was about motivation, about relations, ambitions and heart break.
if I talk about writing technique, it was free verse . At last I would add, I am looking forward to read from this author. I wish her all the very best

Scattered Constellations is a beautiful poetry collection by my fellow book blogger, Ankita. It is very relatable. Although I did have some trouble with feeling the emotions in the beginning, that feeling was completely flipped by the end. I’m excited to see what else Ankita has in store.

Scattered Constellations is a poetry book by Ankita Singh. The poems were about friendship, love, heartbreak, and emotions which author tried to relate it our daily lives. Some of the poems I loved the most were, Bigots, Love, Colour, It wasn't just sadness, Trophy Girl, and Make my world. I just felt like some poems were written with own emotions of the author. Well and good to say it was an nice attempt to write this book.

Ending my honest feedback with beautiful lines in the book-

Scattered Constellations is a collection of beautiful short verses poured directly from the heart of a 18 year young poetess.
Initially, I wasn't much inclined towards reading poetry.(the poems in our textbooks never developed the interest).
But after reading this book, I was opened to a new; a completely scenic world of poetry. I'd like to thank Ankita for this.
Coming to the verses, I had fun going through them. The way she has curated every word, every line, and a complete poem, -makes every thing come alive in front of the reader's eye. Every word gives you a feel-good that's what I liked the most of her poems.
She has added a tinge of emotions to each and every poem highlighting a lot of worldly perks, this making it a treasure for everyone.
"There is definitely some for everyone!"
Right from the feel of 'Your Embrace' & 'Hey princess's to the morals from the 'Old self's to the crystal clearness of 'Perfect', to the fear of 'Rejection'-everything makes this book an un-put-downable book.
Thank you Ankita for sharing your heart and gifting something to everyone.!
I wish all the best to this prolific & budding poetess for all her incredible contributions to the world of poetry!

Scattered Constellations by Ankita Singh is a beautiful collection of poetry written in free-verse. Through her words, the poetess touches a variety of issues like love, desire, heartbreak, friendship, self-discovery. And these are just a few out of the many ones. There was a beauty to her words that I cannot really pin-point out in my own words. I doubt I can exactly say how I feel after having read her book.

The first thing that I liked about this poetry book is that I loved the epigraph from The Fault In Our Stars. I know the author personally and I know this is one of her favorite books so it didn't really surprise me, but considering how it is also one of my favorite books, I liked it.

What I didn't like about the book though, was that the theme of the first part of the book was a little cliched. I have heard about them a lot. Not just in poetry but also in prose, so I didn't like the first part that much.
Other than that, there were also a few times where I thought that the poem didn't really match the theme it was in. For example, there was a poem called "Vampire Cat" under the theme "Springing Love". I don't think I understand how they were related.
I also didn't like how the poetess has talked about sister love on one page and romantic love on another. Brother love on one and then again romantic love on another. I guess I like my themes set straighter than that. Now I won't say much more on this area because I think I've made my point.

Other than that though, I think the poems themselves were great. The book, as a whole, was a great debut work considering how hard it is to write poetry. It takes so much just to get a single line on paper but Singh has written not just one line but a whole book of contemporary poems! The fact that I generally don't like contemporary poems works in her favour because despite that, I liked these poems a lot.

My favorite poem out of all of them was "Gold". It was really heartbreaking and heart-touching. And the best part is that it wasn't the only one that touched my heart! The emotions that flowed through each of her poem were marvelous.

All in all, Scattered Constellations is a nice light read and I would suggest you to try it out if you're in a slump or something so that you can get over it (and that's saying A LOT for a book).

Her tired eyes widened with glee,
As her lips broke into a smile,
She ran to the door, opening it wide,
Hugging the person, the hero of her life!

Scattered Constellations is a collection of free-verse poetry. It is carefully divided into three sub-themes.
- Springing Love: carefree love; in all forms, colors, and intensities
- Scattered Heart: the broken heart, spirit and the longing for what existed and more
- Clustered Hope: the hope for a new love, new expectations and desires with a hint of restraint and resistance

I loved how the poems included all the present day issues too, from racism to sexuality to gender bias.
My favorite poems:
Our Kinda Love, Hey Princess, Shine, Love, I'm Looking for You & Controlled by You.

The author has managed to keep the essence and feel of her words but it felt more like dialogue that poetry. I agree there are many forms of poetry and this could easily pass as another variation to it.

Ankita Singh has immense potential to be the next best. Many poets know the words but struggle to make the readers connect. Ankita has the feel, she only needs to hone her skill in placing the right words in a more effective way. The only thing this book lacks is maturity which isn't far away for this author.

A commendable job done with room for improvement.

My review was first posted on Northern Plunder, you can read more of my reviews there too.

For me 2018 is the year I try more poetry so when Ankita asked our New Bloggers group whether anyone would like read and review her upcoming collection I decided I could help out too.

I did really enjoy the collection because a good handful of them invoked a lot of emotions.

Many of the poems deal with someone struggling with relationships, accepting themselves, and a love they deserve.

Its an emotional read. The few poems I just shared are some great examples of this as they resonate dealing with abuse.

However I did have a lot of trouble following the book as a whole because I felt it needed a finale editing phase to have a more flowing path of the emotions explored.

The way the poems were organised meant we were going back and forth between positive and negative emotional responses from the poems and this caused a very disjointed experience for myself.

I think pairing all the similar poems together would’ve produced a stronger response of what they were aiming to make you feel.

The collection is currently part of the kindle unlimited so I definitely think its worth checking out if you have access to that!

I was very skeptical about this when choosing my next read and being really, really dense about poetry, I hesitated before picking this up. But I had read so many good reviews about it and after reading a sample, I decided to give this book a shot.
What I loved about it is that the language is really simple without being too childish. Remember, a person who's never read poetry voluntarily before could understand the poems with ease. The topics she's chosen are relatable. She writes about love, beauty, nature, friendship, sisterhood and even her pet cat.
I would recommend this book to everyone who loves poetry and also to those who, like me, are as dense as a brick when it comes to poetry. Give it a try.

Scattered Constellations is my first poetry book that I read in my life. And I absolutely loved it! The author's style of writing is very sweet, personal and full of emotions. It covers various types of themes which revolves around love- family love, relationships, same sex, self love, etc.
While reading through the pages, few of the poems took me down the memory lane. Some were nostalgic, some I could relate to awfully a lot, some just made me go awwwww 😍... and there were some that I couldn't relate to but could understand what the writer wanted to convey.. all in all they were meaningful and personal. I could feel them!
My favourites in the book were 'Hey Princess', 'Beautiful (II)', 'Taboo', 'Bigots' and 'Desire'. Not to forget 'The Vampire Cat' - it's a fun lil poem! ♥️
The second half of the book is really heartbreaking with lots of emotional poems and that is were you will find my favourites. I rate this book a 4.5/5 stars. And recommend all of you to read it! 😊
