It's been a while since Adriane Leigh has put out a new book, but I'm glad she's back! I love her words. Whiskey Girl is a little different than some of her books. It's less steamy, and more everything else. This book is a beautiful, emotional, and angst-filled second chance romance that I adored.
Fallon Gentry met Augusta Belle when she was just a teenager. These two met in a way that linked them together forever. The circumstances of their lives/relationship weren't ideal, but they had to be together, so they made it work. Until they couldn't anymore. Something out of their control tore them apart, though Fallon didn't know what that was at the time. Now Augusta Belle is back in his life and he doesn't know how to feel.
One thing I really loved about this story is that there was one surprising twist after another towards the end of the book. I've said it once and I'll say it again, I love when books are unpredictable. I also love books that made me feel, and Whiskey Girl had the feels in spades. There are a lot of moments that broke my heart, but it was completely mended by the end. I loved both of the main characters and enjoyed reading about their past as well as their present.
I could feel the music in this book. The story-telling was lyrical and the writing was stunning. I love romances that aren't easy and clean cut. Augusta and Fallon's love story was messy, real, tumultuous and complicated. But it was also a stunning and swoony romance. This is definitely Adriane's strongest writing to date and a book I would recommend!

This is an angsty and heartbreaking story of two people whose love faced insurmountable odds their first time around. WHISKEY GIRL is a second chance/forbidden romance between two people who may not have started off under the best of circumstances but ultimately they were two pieces of a puzzle that fit perfectly together.
Fallon Gentry met Augusta Belle on top of a bridge where it appeared she was planning to jump off from to commit suicide. He ended up saving her that day and the two ultimately fell hopelessly in love. He was twenty and unbeknownst to him, Augusta was only fifteen. The two spent almost every day together for the next two years. He was a musician, hoping to make it big in Nashville and Augusta was his muse. “Never thought I’d find home again.”
There is just something about a book with the word whiskey in the title that does something for me. And in all honesty, that's the only reason I chose to read this book. I'm just thrilled that it was so good!
Fallon and Augusta have a past, a past that was over ten years ago and we get to know them in flashbacks. It's not my favorite way to get to know characters but I think it worked in this case.
I enjoyed getting to know their younger selves and how sweet they were together but...I was dying to know what happened. And to find that out, we have to wait a while.
In the present, Fallon is a shell of a man. On the road, singing in small dives usually drunk and somewhat dirty. That all changes when he runs into Augusta again.
Fallon wants answers too but after a night "wallowing" in his emotions, he's more than ready to let Augusta back into his life. She's always been his sunshine.
This was one part I wished was a little different. I felt they got back together too easily especially when both their hurts were so deep. However, as I kept reading, I realized there was no other way this could work.
There's a lot, A LOT of things that Augusta went through and I have to admit my mouth dropped open a few times. It was nice to finally put the puzzle pieces together and I loved how Fallon handled everything.
Their singing and songwriting was both bittersweet and just plain sweet...all their feelings! Gah! I could literally feel it through the pages.
However, there's this huge exclamation point in their relationship and while I loved it, I just felt things worked out a little too easily.
The epilogue is perfection and just what they needed. There's a link to an extended epilogue that you won't want to miss.

“I couldn’t see a single face behind the glaring stage lights, but still, some part of me pretended she could be out there, that I was singing to her. That she would hear her song and find her way back to me.”
It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside when I find myself still thinking about a book a whole week after first finishing it, and the more I think about this story, the more beauty I keep finding in every single memory of it. From its arresting opening line to the many jaw-dropping bombshells thrown along the way, this story was everything I hoped for, and more, thus making my first encounter with Adriane Leigh’s writing a truly unforgettable one. A tragic but hopeful second chance romance—interwoven with a melancholy tale of stolen dreams and missed opportunities—Leigh tells the story of two people who find each other after many years apart, and examines the depths of their love for one another by testing the very limits of it. Her prose is beautiful and confident, affecting without being maudlin—it squeezed my heart while continuously bringing tears of joy to my eyes, and I had to take a very long, deep breath in the end to fully absorb all the emotions it left in me. This was undoubtedly one of the most moving books I’ve read in a long time.

This was our first experience reading an Adriane Leigh book and what a perfect place to start. Whiskey Girl was a raw, gritty, emotion-based, somewhat sombre second chance romance threaded with a country music theme about first-time love, second chances, regrets, heartbreak and a love that never ceased to burn despite everything that stood in its way.
Whiskey Girl is mostly told through the pov Fallon Gentry, with flashbacks from Augusta Belle Branson. Fallon is a thirty-three-year-old country music star who, at one time, had Nashville at his feet yet now spends his days performing from one dive bar to another, finding solace in the bottom of a whiskey bottle. Fallon is still bitter and heartbroken some ten years after his first love, Augusta Belle disappeared from his life – disappearing without so much as a goodbye.
‘My Whiskey girl my damnation and my salvation.’
Fallon has always wondered (and secretly hope) if he would one day run into Augusta Belle, and the story begins with a gripping confrontation as Augusta re-enters Fallon’s life. Ten years later, she’s back and he’s got a lot of hurt to unleash on her, demanding answers August Belle is slow to provide as the memories are agonisingly painful for her to recall.

Maybe too much’
The story switches from present to past in effortless prose as Augusta slowly begins to recount the moments leading up to the day she left Chickasaw Ridge, their hometown without so much as a backward glance. What drove her away, and why has she tracked him down all these years later?

There is a somewhat forbidden feeling to Whiskey Girl, as Fallon and Augusta were opposites in every way. Young teenaged Augusta came from a wealthy family, Fallon was the older nomadic son of a drifter, living in a mobile home on the rougher side of town. Their first meeting when Augusta was only fifteen set the pace for an intense and sweet first love that would endure so much, yet show a resilience that would withstand years of separation, bitterness, hurt and heartbreak.
‘August Belle Branson was embedded like barbed wire around my soul.’
Adriane Leigh delivered a purely emotion based and beautiful slow burn second chance romance that truly made us feel. The angst and physical never overwhelmed the emotion of the story as we lived every moment with Fallon and Augusta, standing next to them every step of the way through their dreams, hopes, and heartache.
An at times painful, at times tender, and always a natural journey, with twists that made our hearts plummet and soar. As their pasts collide with their present and future, Fallon and Augusta must learn to let go of their baggage, open their hearts, to heal, to trust, and to overcome.
‘Truth was, I didn’t want her love if she couldn’t love the man I was now.’
A hauntingly raw sombre second chance romance we loved from start to finish. As our hearts bore the brunt of so much through Fallon and Augusta’s story, our only gripe is that we would have loved the epilogue to have taken us a bit further into the future, you know….just that little bit further……

Fallon si era trasferito a Nashville da astro nascente, ma dopo soli due anni aveva mandato all’aria la sua carriera di promessa della musica Country.
All’inizio aveva spopolato col singolo La ragazza del Whiskey, la sua “nenia avvelenata” come soleva definirla, che era stata trasmessa dalle radio scalando le classifiche dei brani più venduti.
Incontrava centinaia di persone nei locali e amava tracannare molte bottiglie di Whiskey del Tennessee, ma sempre con la speranza nel cuore di poter rincontrare un giorno la sua musa.
La prima volta che Fallon aveva visto Augusta Belle, fu un evento traumatico. Lei si trovava ai margini di un ponte, in bilico, ma era bellissima:
«Ripensai alla frazione di secondo in cui il sole dell’estate indiana, riflettendosi sulle foglie aranciate di una quercia, l’aveva avviluppata in un bozzolo di calore».
Sembrava un angelo. Gli occhi della sfumatura più impressionante di ambra liquida lo avevano fin da subito affascinato.
Era nata un’amicizia del tutto improbabile tra loro, che erano persone tanto diverse, soprattutto per l’età. Ma avevano un’intesa speciale, che pochi potevano vantare.
Poi era arrivato l’amore. Intenso, travolgente, unico, quello per cui vale sempre la pena combattere.
Ma un giorno Augusta Belle era andata via e il cuore di Fallon era andato in mille pezzi.
Da allora la strada era diventata l’unico posto in cui riusciva a trovare la felicità. Suonava nelle bettole dei locali per solo una manciata di soldi, non si curava del suo aspetto né delle proprie finanze.
Nulla aveva più importanza da quando lei lo aveva lasciato.
Sognava da circa dieci anni il momento in cui l’avrebbe ritrovata, e quando questo avvenne gli sembrò di vivere un sogno. Quando se la ritrovò davanti era più magra, ma i suoi occhi grandi e le labbra carnose gli sembravano devastanti come lo erano stati un tempo, quando era stata sua.
Avrebbe riconosciuto quella donna ovunque.
Il suo nome pronunciato dalla sua bocca gli provocò una reazione tossica e il bisogno di bere diventò impellente.
«Scappare dalla vita che avevamo io e Augusta mi aveva lasciato un vuoto. Un vuoto che solo il whiskey era riuscito a riempire».
Augusta era tornata, e tutto il whiskey del Tennessee non sarebbe bastato per far smettere al suo cuore di palpitare e impazzire d’amore per lei.

🖋️Un romanzo che parla di seconde possibilità.
I protagonisti hanno incontrato nel loro cammino tanti ostacoli e il destino avverso li ha veramente messi in ginocchio. Tanto dolore e sofferenza hanno influenzato le loro vite, condizionandone sogni, aspettative, comportamenti anche distruttivi, e stile di vita.
Il romanzo si dipana tra presente e passato e l’autrice in questo è stata davvero molto brava perché ha svelato in modo lento ma coinvolgente i segreti e le reticenze che hanno portato all’inevitabile separazione i personaggi.
🖋️Tanta commozione ho provato quando Augusta ha raccontato la sua parte di storia, ed ho compreso che paura e disperazione l’hanno spinta in una certa direzione, che le ha procurato un’indicibile sofferenza.
Una protagonista molto forte e coraggiosa, che non si è mai data per vinta, e ha speso ogni giorno del suo tempo per cercare la fonte della sua felicità.

Oh my goodness. I'm not really sure where to begin with my review. I guess I should say this is the first book I've read in WEEKS. I've been in a serious slump but this book pulled me right out and I finished it. I read it from cover to cover and my heart now currently resides with Fallon & Augusta Belle.
Whiskey Girl is a beautiful, second chance romance. It's sweet and sexy and angsty and just breathtaking. I absolutely LOVED the way Whiskey Girl was written. The back and forth meshed perfectly and always kept a intriguing pace that at times had me on the end of my seat, had me crying or had me smiling. Whiskey Girl literally pulled every emotion out of me, I was a wreck, all I wanted was Fallon & Augusta's happiness but I also wanted to know all the secrets and find out what happened in their ten years apart. And this like I said is where Adriane penned this brilliantly. Never once did the "chapters in the past" take from the building momentum of the whole story, it added a uniqueness that whole heartedly sucked me in.
Whiskey Girl is a highly addictive read. It's super, super sexy and that comes from the connection the two characters share and it's sexy at the most crazy times. For instance, scenes with them driving across country were sexy, sizzling with tension and unspoken truths. My heart ached and my soul soared simultaneously, I was most definitely 100% all in reading this one.

The story started nice and sweet, halfway through I didn't care what happened next. The way the plot-twist was resolved was convenient and predictable.
I liked Fallon, and then I didn't, the female lead was just there, she didn't live up to my expectations, considering the title of the book is about her, and all the great things Fallon though about her.
Despite the above, I get why readers might like it, it just wasn't for me. second chance romance isn't my thing.
It's an emotional read, a bit mysterious, keeps you wondering why she left, and why she came back now. And it was told mostly from Fallon’s POV, who you will probably fall in love with.

This was our first experience reading an Adriane Leigh book and what a perfect place to start. Whiskey Girl was a raw, gritty, emotion-based, somewhat sombre second chance romance threaded with a country music theme about first-time love, second chances, regrets, heartbreak and a love that never ceased to burn despite everything that stood in its way.
Whiskey Girl is mostly told through the pov Fallon Gentry, with flashbacks from Augusta Belle Branson. Fallon is a thirty-three-year-old country music star who, at one time, had Nashville at his feet yet now spends his days performing from one dive bar to another, finding solace in the bottom of a whiskey bottle. Fallon is still bitter and heartbroken some ten years after his first love, Augusta Belle disappeared from his life – disappearing without so much as a goodbye.
‘My Whiskey girl my damnation and my salvation.’
Fallon has always wondered (and secretly hope) if he would one day run into Augusta Belle, and the story begins with a gripping confrontation as Augusta re-enters Fallon’s life. Ten years later, she’s back and he’s got a lot of hurt to unleash on her, demanding answers August Belle is slow to provide as the memories are agonisingly painful for her to recall.

Their first meeting when Augusta was only fifteen set the pace for an intense and sweet first love that would endure so much, yet show a resilience that would withstand years of separation, bitterness, hurt and heartbreak.

Adriane Leigh delivered a purely emotion based and beautiful slow burn second chance romance that truly made us feel. The angst and physical never overwhelmed the emotion of the story as we lived every moment with Fallon and Augusta, standing next to them every step of the way through their dreams, hopes, and heartache.
An at times painful, at times tender, and always a natural journey, with twists that made our hearts plummet and soar. As their pasts collide with their present and future, Fallon and Augusta must learn to let go of their baggage, open their hearts, to heal, to trust, and to overcome.

A hauntingly raw sombre second chance romance we loved from start to finish. As our hearts bore the brunt of so much through Fallon and Augusta’s story, our only gripe is that we would have loved the epilogue to have taken us a bit further into the future, you know….just that little bit further……

Whiskey Girl by Adriane Leigh was my first read by this author and such a beautiful love story it was. A love story brimming with hurtful pasts, regrets, heartbreak, and second chances. A love story that brings Fallon Gentry and Augusta Belle Benson together. They meet one fated, sunny day on a bridge. Fallon saved her from jumping off. But really they saved each other and from that moment on they were glued together. Due to circumstances beyond their control, Fallon and Augusta are separated until they're reunited 10 years later.
It was such a hard journey for Fallon without his whiskey girl. He carried so much resentment and hurt, never knowing the pain Augusta went through a lot as well. As the story unraveled, lots of truths and secrets come to fruition that shed light on why Augusta had disappeared. Watching these characters grow and seeing their love finally prevail was such an emotional journey.
Whiskey Girl was a timeless love story, filled with music and sunshine. It wasn't easy; it was messy, raw and real. You'll be left longing for a love like Fallon and his whiskey girl.

Whiskey Girl was a stand-alone by Adriane Leigh.
I couldn’t really tell by the blurb what it was going to be about - maybe a second chance? And once into the first few chapters, I still couldn’t tell. But I could tell that it would be emotional, and I was right. It evoked sadness, anger and misery until eventually hope wound its way in as well.
Augusta Belle Branson and Fallon Gentry met when Augusta was on top of Whiskey bridge about to jump. Nothing really was as it seemed through most of the book. Leigh took us through their friendship, bonding, separation, heart break and reunion - but again, it wasn’t as clear cut as it sounded. The entire story was shrouded with mystery and secrets that were unveiled at every corner.
It was primarily written with a singular POV, Fallon’s. I always enjoy the male POV and this was no exception. We did; however, receive Augusta’s POV in snippets from the past but her present day perspective was kept a mystery until the last 20% of the book. It then began to fill in some blanks; however, I still was wishing the Augusta would have filled in a few more blanks. I’m still not sure why she waited so long to contact Fallon again.
In the end, it was a well written, well developed storyline. I fully enjoyed the characters and ultimately found the emotional roller coaster to be well worth the ride.

So that emotional tsunami happened! Whiskey Girl is like if Kyland by Mia Sheridan & The Silent Waters by Brittainey C. Cherry came together and had a baby. That baby is Whiskey Girl. If you haven’t read either of those books then that is meaningless, but if you have, that should tell you a whole lot about what goes on between these pages!
Fallon and Augusta have history. I’m not going to detail it because that history you should read blind. To say it’s tragic is an understatement. You know those incidents or news report you hear about where this or that happened so some unsuspecting person and then the aftermath of tragedy that follows etc etc etc and this tiny little thought waaaay in the back of your mind is saying that would never happen to me? That is this story . It’s a giant of a story. There is a lot to digest. So many events (some people would call them twists) that unfolded during this story that I was a bit overwhelmed some of the time. It helped tremendously to have the dual POV.
This really is a great story, but it isn’t one I can tell you much about. Knowing the plot points or events of this journey would render reading this book useless. I hate that there are so many reviews with details about Fallon and Augusta’s life because if you don’t go in blind, you’re missing out on the essence of this journey. It’s a life journey and in life, no one gets to see what happens till it happens so don’t read too many reviews before you grab this book LOL #trust

Whiskey Girl is a really great read. Fallon and Augusta have a crazy past. They loved each other then Augusta left without a word to Fallon. Augusta is back and has found Fallon. Fallon is not very happy to see her at first. I kind of felt Fallon was really harsh to Augusta when she came back. She is strong and persistent and even though Fallon is jerky she doesn't back down. This one is a slow burn read that had me hooked from the beginning. Chapter after chapter we get more info on what happened to Fallon and Augusta. My heart went out to them. As the layers and secrets come out I started to like Fallon more and more and was rooting for them to get a happy ever after.

Whiskey Girl is a beautiful yet emotional 2nd chance at love romance. It’s about a country singer/songwriter and his muse/ soul mate. They were young lovers who thought it would be them against the world yet that wasn’t the case. Fallon Gentry came from the wrong side of the tracks and barely had a dime to his name but he loved his Augusta Belle. It seemed her family didn’t want her with him yet they didn’t care- it seemed their futures looked bright and they had love on their side. Tragically, things went wrong for these two. And Fallon’s reason for living goes right with Augusta. She just up and disappeared and Fallon couldn’t find her. For 10 years Augusta Belles disappeared from Fallon's life and then the two are finally reunited again. The story is told in a 1st person POV and it flashes from present to past at first. This story will have you needing tissues , and also asking where did sunshine go? There are many questions that I had starting out while reading Fallon and Augusta Belle’s love story – and when the questions are finally answered, wow! There are twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. What seemed the end of the road was the beginning to a whole new chapter and verse and what a beautiful and uplifting; and this story was just so well -written. Yes, at times it was heart wrenching and sad but the end was so beautiful and just right and ends with a fabulous HEA.

Whiskey Girl is like a slow sensual song, you sway along with the words and end with a happy contented sigh.
I loved Fallon with his southern drawl and melting words and Augusta Belle with her sassy attitude. I loved how Fallon used her full name, wrote her into his songs when she wasn't in his life and I could feel the love and adoration in all his words each time he spoke to Augusta Belle.
Whiskey Girl is a second chance romance and begins with Fallon on the road, living from his truck, a man with overgrown hair, beard, forever a whiskey bottle in his hand and a chip on his shoulder.
A musician going wherever the wind takes him.
Fallon once had a chance at stardom but threw it all away when he lost Augusta Belle who disappeared suddenly one night leaving him with only memories of their teenage years together.
It was like Augusta Belle left and so did his reason for doing anything but writing, playing, drinking and moving on from town to town, like his soul was searching.
The plot goes from present to past at first and is told in first person dual pov.
Fallon has a roaming musicians life with only his guitar and whiskey for comfort but when Augusta Belle finds him she well and truly injects herself back into Fallon giving him back life.
For 10 years Augusta Belles disappeared from Fallon's life and then the two are finally reunited again it was like stars finally aligning when the sassy Augusta Belle finally finds him and brings with her answers and secrets that need to be told.
Why did she disappear? where did she go? how did it take her so long to find him again?

A perfect swoon worthy read. I really enjoyed Whiskey Girl and loved the blissful happy ending.

Wow! This book took me on such a ride! From start to finish I was hooked and could hardly stop reading. The story of Fallon and Augusta is full of so much emotion and heartbreak. These two characters had me on the edge of my seat as I waited to find out the secrets they were hiding.
I loved how this story was written from dual points of view and also how it went back in time to show me important moments between the two of them. I felt that this really helped me get a feel for both characters in the story and let me see from their eyes what they were experiencing.
I thought the chemistry the two had was amazing. The way the author would give little bits of information to keep me guessing as to what happened and what was going to happen had me dying to find out more. A second chance romance that definitely had me rooting for these two to find their way back to each other.

Whiskey Girl was a wonderful second chance romance about a country singer and songwriter and his muse and soul mate that was tearing at my heart strings. It was touching and very sad at times but what kept me going was the hope that these characters are going to find their way back to each other again. Fallon and Augusta Belle didn't have it easy in life. They had each gone through many hardships and have been brought to their knees by fate too many times to count. The story is going back and forth between the present and past giving us glimpses about how the characters met and fell in love and revealing chapter by chapter what truly happend the night Augusta suddenly disappeared from Fallon's life. There are so many secrets on both sides as well as misunderstandings that kept them away from each other for 10 excruciating long years.
Fallon Gentry met Augusta Belle Branson the day she wanted to jump from a bridge. He saw the deep sadness and pure devastation in her eyes and instinctively knew that this girl needed him. Her parents were constantly fighting and never cared about how this affected their daughter. Augusta was suffering from the inside and trying to find ways to distract herself. Fallon was her hero, the guy who saved her from killing herself. His friendship and love became her everything and the sole reason she was able to deal with her miserable life. Fallon was struggling with a sick father to care for and a mom in rehab. Augusta was the only reason he was keeping it together. I loved the slow burn between them. Their chemistry was off the charts hot.
Your heart is going to brake when you find out what happend that night and the aftermath of it. I was sobbing and crying my eyes out feeling so sorry for these two amazing people who have been wronged. But don't worry, Adriane Leigh gave them a beautiful happy end they deserved.
I've devoured this book in just a few hours and highly recommend it. I've read this author's short sexy novellas before and quite enjoyed them but this one is different. It's a raw, complicated and messy love story you soon won't forget. I love this new side to her writing. I therefore give Whiskey Girl 4.5 well deserved sunshine stars.

Wow, this book was such a wild ride! And I absolutely loved it. From the first moment I saw the cover and read the blurb I was intrigued with Whiskey Girl. I had no idea how much affected I will be by the story. Adriane Leigh skillfully created a touching story of two people that met by chance and saved each other, until the unexpected happend that tore them apart, leaving millions of questions between them unanswered.
All I knew right from the start was that Fallon Gentry's heart was broken by his muse Augusta Belle Branson, the Whiskey Girl. The one and only that inspired the lyrics of his song that was his breakthrough in the music business. But being in the spot light was never his goal. All he ever wanted was Augusta Belle and without her the fame tasted bitter sweet. After being disappointed in the music industry and Hollywood, he decides to ditch that path for the road playing music in southern honky-tonks and nursing the memory of her the only way he knew how–at the bottom of a whiskey bottle.
When after ten long years they meet each other again at a lonely dive bar, Fallon is furious and demands answers. Where has Augusta Belle been all these years? And most important, why did she leave him without a word? Meeting her will force him to overthink everything he thought he knew about that one fateful night, and a few things he didn’t.
The more painful things are getting revealed, the more Fallon is coming to the realization that he has only two options: walking away for good or make peace with the past and not let the second chance that life has given them go to waste. The best part of Whiskey Girl was how the story of Fallon and Augusta Belle was slowly unfolded between the pages like a love song. I loved it that Adriane Leigh used flashbacks and double POV in this book. It allowed me to put the story together like a puzzle. And what a beautiful, raw and complicated puzzle it was! There is more to this story than meets the eye. I strongly encourage you all to read it and give it a chance. I'm so glad that I did. Thank you Adriane for this amazing reading journey I soon won't be able to forget. 4.5 Whiskey stars!!!

Lyrical and poetic, Adriane Leigh’s writing is a joy to the senses and smooth as Tennessee whiskey. The story is a heart piercing journey for two very broken spirits. But darkness doesn't overshadow the good times filled with plenty of sassy wit, fearlessness and extraordinary moments shared between Augusta Belle and Fallon, as well. And, of course, an off-the-charts love story.
Whiskey Girl is an amazing second chance romance and well-written. I loved that it was Augusta Belle who takes the leap of faith pulling Fallon along. Their story is a slow and sensual journey – and it takes every page before the complex and heartbreaking history between these two is fully exposed. As each detail is revealed, I knew this story would put this one in a category all its own. These two characters left an imprint on my heart.
“Fallon,” the name chosen for our whiskey drinking hero didn’t cut the mustard for me. It played havoc in forming a quick attachment to him. Poor guy – it really wasn’t his fault. Call me crazy, but when I hear the name Fallon, I immediately see the wild sister on the old “Dallas” television series. I found it just wrong – too frou-frou and didn’t fit the idea or image I had in my head for this scruffy whiskey drinking country singer. And yes, I overcame my aversion to his name because of the goodness in his heart. Just to set the record straight, I have no objection to the name Fallon for a female. Okay, enough said on that inconsequential subject.
Dual first-person points of view worked especially well for this storyline that moves between past and present. Both voices were exceptional in getting their version told.
The only other small gripe I have is that the Epilogue just slipped away too quickly without giving me all I really wanted, which was a glimpse farther down the road of life with Fallon and Augusta Belle and one extra special little character as well.

As promised my review of Whiskey Girl.
Where do I even start? First off all that Adriane is an amazing person with a gift for writing. Every book of her I read so far I liked. Some more then others, but they never let me down.
I knew that this story was different, and that she put heart and soul into this book. What I loved the most? Is that you can see how much she has grown as a writer, person and amazing human being.
The story took me on a rollercoaster off emotions but also kept it close by heart. It wasn't an instant love it developed and was tested more then you could wish for. It had my heart go from mushy to cold to scaring the crap out of me.
I lived a little bit through Fallon and Augustina and loved there story more then I would have dreamed on.
It's the perfect read for this summer by the pool, under a tree, while drinking a cocktail or just on your couch at home. Can't wait to have my physical kopie on my shelf and add it to my ever growing collection!

Fallon Gentry is a country singer, a Nashville star who's turned his back on everything to play in honky tonk bars and drink whisky, waiting and hoping to once again see Augusta Belle Branson. Augusta is the girl who ensnared his heart from when she was in her teens but then she leaves him, lost and alone.
The story goes between two time frames, the present and the past, which fills in the missing history between the two lead characters. Both are given the opportunity to share their points of view as well. As the story unfolds so does the mystery of her disappearance and it's ever so not simple reasoning, unlike the way Fallon thought for ten years.
I'm normally a reasonable person, I like to think, however, there are some characters in this story that made my blood boil. I really could have cheerfully strangled them without a care in the world, they had me that angry. I do think that when an author gets a reader that invested in their story they are doing something right! There are emotional highs and lows in nearly every story but truly worthwhile stories are ones where you can feel yourself fighting for the characters.
This is much, much more than a love story, it is almost a rebirth like the mythological Phoenix. Just as amazing, just as incredible and just as sensational.

I love small town romance. Young lover growing up together, make plans of forever then something happens and they drift apart.
When the love of his life walks back in after disappearing with no word he’s not exactly happy. Where has she been all this time. He’s frustrated with her
because she is not forthcoming with this information. I do like the fact that you want to keep reading to find out the whys. When you do eventually find out, it’s very sad something she couldn’t control. Just when things start looking up, they are hit with another setback that could derail everything.

It's been a hot minute since I've read this author. I was happy to find out that I was missing out on a great read! Whiskey Girl is a story of second chance love with some coming of age heartache told through flash back. If you are looking for a feel good story, this one takes a long time to get there. If you are looking for the result of broken hearts and broken promises over 10 years of pain. Broken souls who at one time were so interconnected finding away back to their home, then Whiskey Girl is for you.
Augusta and Fallon were each other's salvation at one point in their lives. Through twists and turns not of their own doing, they fell apart. The story will keep you captured just waiting for the reveal. What tore this young love apart? Why have their hearts not moved on? Is there a future for them?
Grab this one up. Slow burn and they learn to trust again. A bit of steam but the focus of the story is on the relationship between Fallon and Augusta. Perfect Sunday afternoon read!
