Home is where… Jill no longer knows who she can trust. Someone has betrayed her – that much is obvious. But who? And what’s the truth behind the graffiti? …the custard creams are.
I think I'm done with this series. I enjoy some of the humor, but not all. I used to enjoy the mysteries, but not so much anymore. Leaving a plot line unfinished so we have to read the next book is my end point. I'm sure plenty of others will continue to enjoy these stories.
Entertaining urban fantasy mystery series. Jill Maxwell formally Jill Gooder is a private investigator in a town in England. Xiao so happens to be a witch. She was raised in the human world by her adoptive family and learned how to be a private investigator from her adoptive father. She took over her father’s business after he died. At a later date she met her birth mother who passed on her magic to Jill. Jill soon found out that she actually had family living in a paranormal town not far from where she lives. A crazy grandmother as well as an aunt and two cousins. She soon starts solving mysteries and crimes in the human world as well as the paranormal world. Follow along as Jill uses her magic to solve crimes in both worlds. Her character is a witty as well as a bit sarcastic and fun character. On occasion the character Will even make snarky comments to the reader. Very entertaining with plenty of mystery and magic. Check it out
How can one witch take on so many problems at once? Well Jill does it all! Its bad enough that someone is painting her name all over town, and someone is selling bad blood to vampires, Ma Chivers and Grandma is giving her fits, her sister and Winky are as manipulative as usual and her friend us accused of murder. And a dragon is flying around CASS. What could go wrong?
The graffiti was popping up around town and no sooner had she had the graffiti covered than it appeared again. Who was doing the painting was just one of many mysteries in this book. Plus a murder to solve and clowns to avoid. I enjoyed reading this book and all of the antics of Winky, Grandma and the rest of the crew.
I wish I could say that I enjoyed this book as much as others in the series. Jill is still using her brains and powers for good, but she doesn't get the income that she deserves. Add to that, her cat Winky and others take advantage of her. Admittedly, she is no saint, but I wish that she would win more than she loses.
Ongoing events continue to keep the reader involved in Jill, PI’s life. It is maddening to read how her sister is so mean by exploiting her fear of clowns and constantly lying to her. It isn’t clear why Jill continues to be involved in Kathy’s life which sets her up for ongoing mischief.
Myrtle is in jail on a murder charge. There are missing people, more ghosts for Lizzie, a mystery for an 'escape room,' and what seems to be a graffiti attack on Jill. You've also got an angry dragon, Ma Chivers, another magic contest and a problem with tainted blood.
Love, love, loved it...just like all Adele Abbott WITCH IS... books! Just wish Ms. Abbott wrote faster...and had an endless supply of ideas for her WITCH IS books series 'cause they have spoiled me for wanting more!!!!
LOVE these books! Jill gets into the most interesting fixes usually without trying. Hope they stay as fresh as they are now and keep on going. Cant wait for 11/23!
I like how easy it is to follow this book series through interruptions. The humor is also a help, keeps it light reading, which is why it’s easy to jump in and out of.
No Jill, do not pay Winky back. YES, pay Jack back. Best episode for a long time. Jill is finally starting to act somewhat adultish and the mystery part of the story was very well written. Jill also seems to be truly getting a handle on her witch side.
I wish Jill would grow a backbone where Winky is concerned. I get their dynamic, but he is a cat that she rescued. She should put him in his place a little more often.
Absolutely wonderful characters that interact with each other beautiful! Fabulous plot twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend this series.
Jill has some unique cases in this book. Grandma weasels a favour from Jill, and the twins have figured out a way to have a kid free day. This series is a must read!
I'm done with this series. It's become a poor shell of itself. They're not well written, the attempts at humor fall flat, and the characters are annoying as hell.
Always exceptional, Winky and his schemes and lady loves, Grandma and her schemes too, and her sister Kathy and her schemes to rope Jill into events. So much fun.
Lost adult children, friends in prison, graffiti managed. Those snoopy crocheters and a clowns reckoning means never a dull week for Jill r the readers.
Several twists that I had not expected. An unwilling graffiti artist, an over zealous neighbor and a supposed good deed gone wrong. Another day in the life of Jill!
