Life between the cross hairs

Retired Navy SEAL John Jacob “Jacko” Johnson earned a reputation for being cool under pressure, having more kills from behind the scope of a sniper rifle than anyone else active on the teams, and being a total smartass. Some things don’t change, and not even a traumatic brain injury sidelining him keeps him from kicking in when his friends need it—most recently a top-secret mission to retrieve a lost asset.

Bolt action is louder than words

Coco Adler’s military career ended abruptly on a dishonorable discharge. Or so reads her military file. Recruited for a top-secret program, she digs in deep. When her cover is nearly compromised and she can’t reach her handler, she goes dark but stays on mission. The last thing she expects is a lunatic in a Hawaiian shirt to take her down a moment before a sniper’s bullet would have.

Forced to work together, Jacko will do everything to cover Coco’s extraction—even if it kills him.

I love books. Not just a little bit, but a lot. Books were my best friends when I was growing up. Books didn’t care if I was new to a town or to a class. They were always there, my trustiest of companions. Until they turned on me and said I had to write them.

I can tell you that my own personal happily ever after included writing books. I’ve always said that an HEA is a work in progress. It’s true in my marriage, my friendships, and in my career. I am constantly nurturing my muse as we dive into new tales, new tropes, new characters and more.

After seventeen years back in Texas, we relocated to the Pacific Northwest in search of seasons, new experiences, and new geography. I can’t wait to discover what life (and my muse) have in store for me.

Maybe writing was always my destiny and romance my fate. After all, my grandmother wasn’t a fan of picture books and used to read me her Harlequin Romance novels.

Friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, friends to enemies to lovers, you name it, I love them and love to write them. I started with Earth Witches Aren’t Easy, the first in the Chance Monroe trilogy, but my characters and I have traveled a long way since I created that urban fantasy world.

One of the series I hear my readers recommend the most is the Untouchable series followed in quick succession by the Vandals, and that just delights me. No lie, whenever one of my readers brings up my wolves, I do a little a fist pump.

I’m active on social media, and I love hearing from readers. Feel free to tag me with a question about any of my books, or just say hi!

This might be my favorite of the 4 books in this series. Coco is one badass woman who matches Jacko step for step. A great story that was fast paced, snarky banter, great supporting friends from the previous two books and some surprising sweetness. The ending was surprising and not what I was expecting.

This one was filled with twists. The action gripped me from the beginning. I found myself wanting to setup more obvious support/backup just so the two main characters could get back home without further incident. Jacko's pain was so real. The way that he functions in spite of his injuries held me to the end. This entire series is a MUST READ.

I really love Coco, she's an operative and she's determined and she's in trouble but doesn't realize how much. That is until Jacko shows up and saves her from a sniper's bullet.

That is only the beginning of a hot and cold relationship as they try to avoid assassins at almost every turn.

Guest appearances by Wolf and his team occur at some very tense moments.

References to Shielding Shayna, which also came out this week, tie events together very nicely.

Non stop action, sizzling and sexy, this book has it all.

I can't wait to see what Heather Long has in mind for these folks next.

Coco has been tracking her subject for quite awhile. While out looking for him, she is taken down by Jacko while they are being shot at. He is to bring her in. He never expected to fall for her.
Coco is very upset that she was brought down by Jacko, but now she has to trust him since he was sent in by her boss. When they are shot at. Wolf's team gets them to safety. They have to live long enough to see this through.

If u love action, running from the bad guys and getting shot at this is the book for u. Jacko thinks he's protecting her, but he's falling for her, when they get to where they are going, well all heck breaks loose. She's out to bring in a arms dealer and she's been undercover for 5 years. So she doesn't trust many people.

Good read

Coco met Jacko when he saved her from being shot. He then told her they were married. Good thing because everyone seems to want to kill her. He wants to take her state side, but she hasn't finished her mission and until she does people who are near her will keep getting shot.

Covering Coco is a short spy thriller romance that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I LOVED IT! I’m not usually one for love at first sight but everything in Coco & Jacko’s world is more intense and you can feel the chemistry between the two from the very start.

Wonderful read

This was a wonderful read. For a short work it included a lot of action, romance and character development. I would love to read more about Coco and Jacko. The ending, while shocking, was fantastic.

I've been dying for Jacko's book, and this one really delivers. Exciting and hot hot hot.
This series is one of the best I have read for a long time, it seems to bring the best out of the different authors too. Loving it, and highly recommend it.

This story was completely unpredictable for me!

I read a lot. I mean, a lot. So to read a story that is so unpredictable is a serious treat. The reader is sent on a metaphorical car chase from Monaco to London, with bad buys around every corner. And the chemistry. 🔥🔥🔥

If you like romance and mystery with a lot of action this is a book for you. You have no idea what is really going on until the last few pages of the book and it is quite a surprise. My

Wish it was longer

But can't see how it would be any better; however Ms. Long is a good writer I think she could do it.

I am totally surprised by how much I liked this!! It covered nearly every single thing I look for in a tale. This was short... but oh so sweet!

On the re-read... still enjoyed it... just not as much as I had originally. Too much left unexplained... and I needed an epilogue...
