Definitely a great resource, a must have if you're struggling with listening (specifically for this test!). As this is a test prep booklet, this is less about learning to listen in Japanese, and more so learning to listen for the test. If you have no intention of taking the JLPT, I would skip this series.

The book has a multitude of example problems, with explanations on each one. And subsequent practice problems as well. I would've liked a bit more explanations though. All audio comes with a script. I really appreciate that, and found them to be super useful.

The CDs were a bit of a pain to get out at first x'D But I think that was more my fault than anything. The book mentions you can also listen to the audio online though, so the CDs are not necessary.

Unlike my experience with their vocab (N2) and reading (N2) books, this book has furigana on all kanji. I'm assuming since the focus is on listening, and not reading.

The end of the book has a mock test of about 30 questions.

This book definitely has a lot of good advice, things to be mindful of or watch for, and other general test prep advice. I'm glad I bought it.

Compared to the 本語総まとめ series, I found 新完全マスター to be a lot more throughout and to explain exercises at a more detailed level. I found it gave very good advice on how to tackle the different kinds of exercises, which the 本語総まとめ series lacked.

I would appreciate more explanations and strategies, but I found the many exercises they gave to be helpful (and validating).

For a guy who have read only a couple of books about Listening for JLPT, I enjoyed a lot of strategies portrayed on this one.
If you have a strong understanding of the language, probably you have already interiorised many of the strategies done here unconsciously (which was my case), therefore trying to adopt them might feel cumbersome. However, there are some incredibly practical and useful (particularly for the 統合理解 questions; so I feel there is value on buying this series.
I haven't tried any other listening books for the JLPT N2, but if they follow the trend of the Shinkansen Master to be one of the most difficult in the market, then I would recommend buying this one for those who already have a good sense for Listening . If not, then you might go for Sou Matome first; I did this for Reading and proved to be useful.

Nice book nonetheless 4/5.
