Happy Howlidays!

Rate this book
In this follow-up to the hilarious illustrated novel Dog Diaries, Junior has been in the dog house after giving in to his doggy urges when Mom-Lady turned her back and left him alone with the freshly cooked Thanksgiving turkey. Because of this, Junior is determined to make Christmas the best one ever for his pet humans and redeem his GOOD BOY status.

Junior has never actually experienced a human Christmas before and his perfect plans get sidelined with the shocking appearance of something called snow, a tree that seems to have sprouted in the middle of the Picture Box Room, and packs of strange humans called Carol who come to the front yard and howl. It all very confusing…

I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And stop reading this if you didn't see that this is a spoiler. At the end of the book "Critter-Mess Day" (Christmas Day) was ruined because it was flooded because Junior thought that "Saint Lick"(Saint Nick of Santa Claus) was going to leave dough all over the "Catch-A-Doggy-Bone Pack" (Khatchadorian). But I'm not going to tell you too much. So I hope you like this book. :)

This Dog Diaries entry is about what you'd expect--easy-to-read Wimpy Kid style mix of illustration and text, which should appeal to fans of that series, Dork Diaries, Big Nate, etc. Told from the point of view of the dog without any surprises. Not as clever as a classic like Bunnicula, but good for reluctant readers and those looking for funny books. Recommended for ages 8-12.

Dog Diaries Happy Howlidays By: James Patterson With Steven Butler.

Hello,I’m a dog named Max Einstein and I want to have the perfect howliday season so I hope things turned out well. But I have to keep a big secret from my family that could ruin everyone's howliday season. Will I save the howliday season or will I ruin it I guess we'll just have to see.

I am a typical energetic dog with hopes of pleasing my family.I live with a typical family who most of the time loves me…I am trying to accomplish the most pawsome adventure to figure out about human luxuries without without ruining it. My only issue is not ruining the howliday season because sometimes I get distracted and make a mess of things.

Life is like a bumpy road, the only way to face it is taking a different path. Or you can persevere through it and make it to the end.If I can just focus on my goals I can make my dreams come true.

From the experience during my adventure I learned, temptation can put you at the crossroads of right and wrong. I found myself being pulled toward eating.Although I wanted to do the right thing and not eat the turkey; however, I did not resist the temptation.

Miss 5 really enjoyed this book narrated from the perspective of a dog with his sometimes inaccurate interpretations of "People-ish". She likes that he really means well even if he sometimes makes mistakes with hilarious results. This covers both Thanksgiving and Christmas (with genuinely funny expectations from the dog as to what these will entail). Thanksgiving is an American holiday but that didn't really matter for the hilarity with the turkey; a few week later we had some boy turkeys on a farm showing off the feathers for Miss 5 and making quite a vocal display and we talked about the book again.

Miss 5 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.

I'm a little disappointed in this book. Well, it's definitely not a bad book but it was a little boring to be honest. Of course it had amazing parts, like the part where the dog found the Thanksgiving turkey and ruined it by putting a baby doll inside of it, or the part where they brought home the Christmas tree and the dog was scared of it, but the beginning and end where honestly very boring, not to mention they also used A LOT of dog slang and it was pretty corny but AGAIN this book wasn't terrible. Some parts where actually kind of funny like the part where they put an ugly Christmas sweater on the dog but that part was only funny because he looked stupid, overall I give this book 4 stars

The book centers around Rage Khatchadorain's dog Junior, who is spending his first Fangsgiving (Thanksgiving) and Critter-Mess Day (Christmas Day) with his adopted family. Junior was only aware of the Howlidays due to stories told by another dog back when he lived at the Hills Village Dog Shelter (or otherwise known as Pooch Prison).

Overall, Dog Diaries: Happy Howlidays! is a funny little story that should appeal to younger readers. It's better written than the first book, which I didn't like at all.

Junior and Ruff are heading towards the Christmas season or as Junior see's it, Crisp mouth!

In this hilarious book we see how Junior makes everything we know about Christmas better in his eyes and how celebrations to him should be for the humans and not as they typically are.

One thing's for sure it may be a quick read but you'll laugh so much it'll take you double to read it, for me it did anyway! Junior is a genius dog to have been created and his character brings the story to life with a human like dog view on life utterly addictive reading!

Cute book about a dog named Junior and how he celebrates the Howlidays, all of his information on what the holidays are (thanksgiving & christmas) come from other dogs experiences and what he thinks he sees in is daily life. My son (8) thought it was very comical he loved Juniors ideas of things like getting new teeth, and how santa gives us poop as gifts. My son also loved that Jr. tried to save the day and make these howlidays even more special too bad juniors understanding of the howlidays got so messed up....

Middle graders will appreciate the humor and plays on words in this second book. The entire book is told from the dog's perspective as he shares Thanksgiving and Christmas with readers. A token effort is made to include other December holidays - Hanukkah, Kwanzaa - wish they had made it a little more inclusive with the other holidays as well.
It's a fast read with plenty of humor for this age group.

My 10 year old son and I read this for bedtime story. It’s not what I would call advanced literature by any means, but it was certainly entertaining! He giggled at a lot of the book, and even I snorted a few times reading it to him. I’m pretty sure our puppy enjoyed the story too, as he curled up each night to listen intently. We did not read this at any howliday time, and it was still fun to read.

A cute story told of a dog's first Christmas in his own way. Looking at things in other ways can be amusing and this did not disappoint. The humans weren't as amused as Junior was when he thought he was being awesome and saving them. But New Years is right around the corner, so who knows what could happen then.

215 pages; This is a funny book written from the perspective of the family dog. There are lots of funny words the dog hears the humans say that will make kids laugh. It is a silly book and has lots of drawings throughout. I think kids will enjoy it, especially if they like dogs. Highly recommended for Grades 4-5.

Junior and my dog don’t have much in common, but I was reminded of how much Theo hated dog clothes. After an attempt to dress him as a pirate one halloween, Theo became the saddest looking dog ever. The costume was quickly discarded. There was some funny bits in this one and my daughter had some laugh out loud moments.

This series cracks my family up! Junior, Rafe's dog from the Middle School series, is back. It's his first holiday season with Rafe's family, and he has no idea what is going on. Will the family survive (with Junior)? If you are looking for a funny book with a dog writing about his life, this is your book!

This book is so meh like it has a pretty good and funny story but the jokes are so cringe its just replacing real words with stuff dogs do like, holidays its not that funny just kinda cringe. I honestly liked the Thanksgiving part better then the Christmas part the Christmas part was kinda boring. If you like cringe dog jokes get this book.

I think this was a funny, funny, funny book. I like how the chapters were divided into different times of the day. I like how he set a whole bunch of traps for Santa because he didn’t want him to poop all over the house.

I loved it. I wish the dog didn't put that thing into the turkey. Everything was ruined! But it seem that the Dog enjoyed pizza than turkey. BUT, anyway, I loved it. I'll give it a five.

Thank you!

The kids find these hilarious, but I was all done after the first in the series. I guess this diary of a dog could be considered fairly accurate, as half the book was just the dog waiting for something to happen, but it certainly didn't make for a good story!

This wasn't one of my favorites because I didn't really get into the dog language. I read this one (the second one) before I read any others, so maybe not reading the first one was a mistake. I don't know.

It is a fun book with great illustrations. The story is funny and should keep the attention of a Middle Schooler with no problem. Seems like a good stocking stuffer to me.
