Four men, brought together by fate, connected in more powerful ways than they’d ever imagined. Lidon, the powerful alpha-cop, determined to never trust another partner—until he helps a vulnerable omega through his heat and connects with him in a way that leaves him reeling. Enar, the alpha-doctor who dedicates his life to serving omegas who need his help. He works himself to the bone, anything to drown out his inner voices that scream at him he’s not a real alpha. Palani, the sassy beta reporter who will do anything to save his omega lover and childhood friend, even if it means watching another man claim him. Vieno, the omega who suffers from a medical condition that requires an alpha’s help. It was supposed to be sex, but his attraction to the alpha goes much deeper. But how can he betray his soulmate and lover Palani like this? When Vieno’s freedom is endangered, he needs Lidon to save him. The alpha steps up, but the consequences of his choice are more far-reaching than anyone of them had foreseen. Four men try to figure out what they are to each other amidst political unrest, investigations into corruption and fraud, a medical issue that is far bigger and more sinister than it seemed at first, and old legends that are turning out to be real. Alpha’s Sacrifice is an MMMM mpreg gay romance and the first book in the Irresistible Omegas series. It is not a stand-alone and ends on a cliffhanger. Please note the triggers warnings in the front of the book.
Would you like the long or the short version of my bio?
The short? You got it.
I write steamy gay romance books and I love it. I also love reading books. Books are everything.
How was that?
A little more detail? Gotcha.
I started writing my first stories when I was a teen…on a freaking typewriter. I still have these, and they’re adorably romantic. And bad, haha. Fear of failing kept me from following my dream to become a romance author, so you can imagine how proud and ecstatic I am that I finally overcame my fears and self doubt and did it. I adore my genre because I love writing and reading about flawed, strong men who are just a tad broken..but find their happy ever after anyway.
My favorite books to read are pretty much all MM/gay romances as long as it has a happy end. Kink is a plus… Aside from that, I also read a lot of nonfiction and not just books on writing. Popular psychology is a favorite topic of mine and so are self help and sociology.
Hobbies? Ain’t nobody got time for that. Just kidding. I love traveling, spending time near the ocean, and hiking. But I love books more.

“I love you, baby. I always will, but I’m so happy for you. He’s a good man, and he’ll take good care of you.”
This was really really good stuff! I couldn’t put this book down and as soon as I finish up this review I’m off to the next book in the series!!
Of course, as typical for an omega-verse romance it was juicy af, but with a surprisingly captivating and elaborate plot line.
The four men we are following pull you into connecting with them instantly and I loved so much that they all had very different personalities and voices that were easy to distinct. I was rooting hard for each one of them to find their place within the connection they all made with each other after one chance encounter.
⇢ Lidon: strong and powerful alpha, detective with narcotics, best friends with Enar
⇢ Enar: low-key alpha with secret desires, doctor (OB/gyn) who helps Omegas in need
⇢ Palani: beta, investigative journalist, in love with his omega best friend
⇢ Vieno: omega, has the Melloni-gene, loves Palani but desperately needs an alpha for his heats
My heart went out to them all, complicated doesn’t even cut it.
The author built a believable but merciless world made of rules by law as well as society in which our main characters try their hardest to fight for what’s important to them.
Good writing and such an interesting plot - the Melloni-gene, different medications and a political scheme in the pharmacy industry, the end of shifting decades ago, fated mates - there is a hell of a lot to discover in this series. And I’m here for it.
I had never read Nora Phoenix before and I wasn't sure what to expect from this book going into it. I certainly didn't expect to be so sucked into the story that I couldn't put it down! It was interesting and emotional with complex relationships, romance and lots of hot sex with four men I instantly cared about.
Following two sets of long-time friends who are now two sets of best friends with benefits and how they are thrown together under unlikely circumstances, I fell for every single character. Each one was distinct and well-drawn and each one is dealing with different issues. Beta Palani and Omega Vieno have such a touching relationship and my heart broke for each of them. Lidon and Enar are both Alphas but are very different from each other. Lidon is a protector and he is protecting a huge secret for Enar. When Lidon connects with Vieno after Enar arranges for him to help Vieno through his heat, all four of the men's worlds are about to be changed forever. While the m/m/m/m storyline isn't completely resolved by the end, and there is no actual pregnancy storyline yet, there are major changes for all the relationships.
Underlying the story is the start of a storyline that deals with a conspiracy affecting the lives and health of omegas that seems to have players throughout the government, police and healthcare industry that some will do anything to protect. There is also a hint of things to come including a possible change to the old ways when men used to be able to shift into wolves.
The story definitely has a bit of everything. It is a cliffy with Enar really struggling with his own internal conflict and the changing relationships, but the next two books are already out and I immediately jumped right into book two.
So, I thought: “I know, I’ll just read a couple of chapters of this new ARC before I go to sleep because it’s only just midnight and I’m not super tired yet”.
3.30am later, I’ve finished the damn book and I’m raging (but not in a bad way) at the cliffhanger because I NEED the rest of these guys’ romance like yesterday.
This is book one in Nora’s new series – Irresistible Omegas – and let me tell you, I couldn’t resist it at all.
Lidon, the powerful alpha-cop. Enar, the alpha-doctor who dedicates his life to serving omegas who need his help. Palani, the sassy beta reporter who will do anything to save his omega lover, even if it means watching another man claim him. Vieno, the omega who suffers from a medical condition that requires an alpha’s help.
Each character is beautiful crafted and rounded out, complex and fascinating and their dynamics both in pairs and as a four are complicated and I couldn’t put the book down because I needed to know what was going to happen next!
There’s also lots of quietly political stuff in this alternative paranormal world, where omegas aren’t just second class, they’re dumped way down the pecking order and betas don’t fare much better.
Also driving the plot narrative is a potentially dangerous police and journalistic investigation which both Lidon and Palani are involved in on the quiet and which could have huge repercussions for the whole Alpha/beta/omega society as a whole.
Book Two is out hopefully in May so all I can say is “hurry up Nora!”

“Love can’t be turned off simply because circumstances require it.”
After I read The Sunshine Court there was a restless buzzing underneath my skin; I felt unsettled to the point that I wasn't feeling inclined to continue the path on which my reading planning had be set on - yes, I do follow a schedule - I'm kinda meticulous that way. 😔 But, the days after, I was feeling adventurous - I wanted to read something different - something out of my usual comfort zone. And nothing speaks more to me than out of my comfort zone than poly romances. 💞 So, as I was looking through the extensive array of MMM+ books available, it was not hard to miss how so many of them were more or less either to do with BDSM or omegaverse, with a few contemporary romances here and there. And while I am still inclined to read those, some of the faults other readers found in said contemporary reads bothered me already without even reading it. But, give me time, I'll get to them - soon. 🤞🏻🤞🏻
“No matter what he chose, someone would get hurt. How the hell could he make the right choice under these circumstances?
There was no right choice, only wrong ones. The story of his life.”
And after many a wasted night of aimlessly looking through lists and falling asleep while still scrolling, because I was really mentally and physically exhausted - without reading anything (which is like, the worst thing to happen, because those are hours wasted that I could have spent reading!!), I finally settled on a select few, which seemed the most validating to my book aesthetic. Or at least promising to my sensitive reading sensibilities (as it has finally dawned on me of how finicky a reader I am)! 😣 Even if it is an omegaverse, but hey, I was feeling adventurous! And generous -- or maybe because I am currently watching an omegaverse anime, so I'm slightly more lenient with revisiting that world - which is a reason that is neither or there, BUT! Having it be an omegaverse AND an MMMM and the first of a 9 BOOK SERIES, well, then it is safe to say that Alpha's Sacrifice is a sacrifice I am willing to make - couldn't help myself 😊 - as it already had me relaxing into my comforter and gearing up for what hopefully would be a start to a most enterprising if not irresistible series. 🙌🏻
Much to my surprise, it was a solid start to a story of four very different men (each with their very own unique names) with their own unique backgrounds and statuses, who are inevitably brought together due to challenging circumstances that will ultimately and inevitably change the very nature of their already existing relationships with each other. 💟💟 Lidon, thirty-four-year-old alpha police officer who is still carrying the wounds of a particularly harsh breakup, childhood best friend and alpha Enar, thirty-four year-old underground medical doctor and occasional casual stress reliever for Lidon, Palani, twenty-three-year-old beta investigative reporter, whose latest case involves an uprise in recent erratic omega behavior, and Vieno, the twenty-three-year-old omega, best friend and lover to Palani, but who suddenly has reached a point where Palani's way of being with him is not enough to satiate the desire that is tearing his heart apart. 😢
“This wasn’t about sex. This was about losing his lover. Forever. No alpha would tolerate him being this close and intimate with their omega.”
Out of the four, Palani was definitely my favorite - hands down. He was also the one I felt most sympathetic for - the one I felt had the most to lose and the one who put his whole heart and mind into caring for others over his own well-being. He gave up his own happiness for Vieno's sake, knowing that by being with him was hurting him more than helping - knowing that by being a beta he is not enough to fulfill his needs. 😟 'The man was a saint... He was way more than a mere best friend or even a lover.' Reaching out for Enar's help first that led to Lidon's involvement was such a bold and brave move, and required so much courage and strength on his part that I really admired how well he just handled everything - never let Vieno know how much it was hurting him - never let Lidon feel that he wasn't the one in control, no matter how much it ached to see the love of his life for the last three years in the arms of another man - an alpha who could give him what he could not. 🥲🥲 And well, it doesn't hurt either that I liked his personality and that he was a reporter with a smart mouth who definitely drew the attention of others - especially Enar. ☺️☺️
Enar drew me to him for his level-headedness and the contradictory personality he has - one that stems with his own inner desires that war with who he is supposed to be. I loved how grounded he was, but still so keen on helping others - how it hurt to see how he couldn't help all the omegas who came to him for his help. 😥 His chemistry with Palani was also one of my favorites; the fact that it wasn't immediately thrust upon them - that their attraction steadily built up due to how they both had simultaneously lost something in a cruel twist of fate - that made their presence in the arms of those they love seem less worthy. 🥹🥹 'It was so wrong, yet so wonderfully filthy and right.' Palani was so understanding of Enar - so patient that if it wasn't an MMMM, I would not have minded them ending up as a couple. The chemistry felt genuine and there was no snark or affection lost between the two, which also made it more enjoyable for me. 🩵🩵
“Those gorgeous lips that he’d kissed a thousand times, always knowing it wouldn’t last, and now that his fears had become reality, he would give anything for one more kiss, one more touch, one more…”
I know it is not Vieno's fault for how instantly he fell for Lidon - how very irresistible he is - blame it on biology, blame it on his own apparent need, blame it on Lidon simply being the fated choice for him at the given moment; but, it did bother me at first at how insta-love their relationship moved. 🙄 Born out of necessity, fueled by immediate action, and then, deepened by a fulfillment of both their desires. I did appreciate that the author shed a little light into his feelings - 'what did it say about him that he so easily switched from one man he’d claimed to love to another?' - that he felt guilt and shame and confusion over his feelings - the heartbreak both he and Palani were carrying, but unable to do anything about how broken it left them - how he didn't know if he could trust what he had with Lidon to be real after only one meeting.
Lidon does have a good heart, so I don't really hold it against him for his behavior, but he has yet to really win me over, despite how tragic his own background may be and how good of a cop he is. I don't know - maybe, it's my own inherent need to not adhere to an alpha's dominance. 😅 But, they still shared some very sweet and intimate scenes that showed they were steadily on the way to becoming a more wholesome pair. Lidon may have been overly possessive at times, but he was also so very gentle and kind; very patient and giving into Vieno's primal urges, never once letting him feel weak or insecure for what he wanted of him and how he wished to be treated. Letting him erase all the painful memories that overwhelmed him over his own innate dark desires. 🩶🩶
“This was one fucked up situation the four of them were in. Lidon, Vieno, Palani, and him, they were all connected in some way—and none of it was simple.”
At first it is hard to believe that it eventually veers into unchartered territory for all four of them; as their lives are running parallel to the other, with each seeking out the primal need of solace in someone else's bed - yet, a lingering uncertainty of what the future held for them. 'Complicated. That word didn’t even begin described how fucked up everything was.' But, what really won me over - what really made me believe in their chemistry and inherent need to claim each other - was the way it eased into a semblance of understanding, - 'you can’t help who you love' - a dawning of comprehending that whatever relationship that already existed amongst themselves was the driving force that made it all the more necessary to be together. 🥺🥺 It's hard to explain without revealing too much, but the reason for them to be together as a whole - felt genuine. It fits the storyline and makes me appreciate how convincingly it was sold - how palpable the need for being together felt towards the end. When each felt lost and helpless without the other - when I even forgave Vieno for how he wanted Palani to fight for him, when in the end he didn't, and yet, he was always his... ❤️🩹❤️🩹
What also definitely made it more of a win for me was that Nora Phoenix's particular style of writing appealed to me; granted, there were a few egregious typos here and there, but it was made up for an intriguing, if not an engaging plot that served as a compelling backdrop for the four of them to interact. 🤌🏻🤌🏻 And for that I was grateful; the steady worldbuilding into their lifestyles, the unique situation in which they unexpectedly found themselves thrown into, the gradual way in which she subtly introduced a slew of supporting cast of characters allowed me to be more involved in the story. She also seamlessly navigated all four perspectives very well and gave enough insight into each of their personalities that made them feel like solid and believable characters. There is a generous helping of all the usual omegaverse feels, but I also found myself quite invested in it. 😊 The emotions were very palpable and I was empathetic to all their misgivings and their doubts, as well as their desires.
“...all these lines and connections and relationships, they clouded what was happening.”
We belong together, all four of us. In a relationship... It feels right.”
And yes, my guilty pleasure is that there is an actual mystery involved of why and how omegas are suddenly so irresistible to the point of harming both parties - 'I love investigative shit like this. It’s like a puzzle, trying to find where each piece goes' - one that I am most curiously and anxiously looking forward to seeing how it will be addressed. 👍🏻 I am also glad that it didn't resort to that typical alpha-omega dynamic which tends to be so over the top that it makes me cringe at some of the dialogue, with a rather toned, if not well-balanced way in which the sex scenes were included. However, considering where we left off, it is safe to say that I'm in for a rather aggressive if not satiable time for the four of them before they cover more ground of what to expect. 😏 Suffice to say, it is about to get very hot and heavy first, before we move on to the bigger story. 🥰 And considering there are eight more books in this series, it is safe to surmise that I know at least what will be my next monthly reads for the remainder of the year. 😌
God complicated doesn't even begin to cover this foursome"s relationship. I loved seeing Enar open up to Palani. I kinda didn't like how Lidon got so jealous whenever Palani and Vieno got intimate since they were all supposed to be mates. It will be interesting to see how the bond between Lidon and Palani is going to develop. This book was spicy as hell but I loved that it had such a captivating plot line. I've already started the second book in the series coz that's just how good it is
I’ve tried, via audio and reading - but there’s no escaping the fact that omegaverse books aren’t for me. Many of my goodreads friends love this series, so I’m sure it’s good. I just don’t gel with the trope.
No rating, because it’s a me-problem, not the book - dnf at 15%
4 Stars!! Have recently started getting intrigued by the Omegaverse and wanted to start on a completed series. I was expecting to abandon this midway, but it kept me hooked. The characters are interesting with plenty of backstory , the world building is also pretty great and finally the steam is off the charts 🔥🔥 I’m hoping the sequel is hotter 🤩 Highly recommended to fans of thr Omegaverse. Onto the next!! 😳
Luke warm. Unbalanced undeveloped poly. Not much chemistry and relationship development. One pairing were childhood friends/lovers. The second were fuck buddies. One guy from each couple were biological fated mates and the last were the left overs.
As a longtime lover of omegaverse tales—especially those with rigid alpha/beta/omega hierarchies and oppressive laws that end up being challenged—this book definitely caught my eye. And while it mostly delivered, let’s just say I came for the MMMM and stayed for the mystery.
Let’s start with the good: the world-building is solid, the gendered power dynamics are sharp, and the subplot? Chef’s kiss. The investigative thread into police corruption and unethical bio-manipulation had me hooked, adding layers of tension that kept the pages turning even when other expectations weren’t quite being met.
Here’s the catch—and it’s a big one: if you’re picking this up expecting a full-blown MMMM romance like the synopsis promises, adjust your expectations. What we actually get is more of an MM + MM scenario, with a bit of partner-switching sprinkled throughout, and only the barest tease of that full poly dynamic right at the end. I’m talking blink-and-you’ll-miss-it levels of development. It’s more a preview of what might come in the sequel than a fully realized relationship arc in this installment.
That bait-and-switch definitely dinged the experience for me, rounding this down to a 3-star read. Still, the gritty plot, the exploration of gender-based oppression, and the juicy corruption mystery mean I’m definitely diving into the next book—if only to see how deep the rabbit hole goes.
If you’re here for the slow burn, injustice, and a well-done investigation? You’ll likely be satisfied. If you’re here for the full MMMM ride? You might want to temper your expectations… or at least pack some patience.
3★ (This rating is totally my reaction to the book's subject and in no way was it meant to reflect adversely on the writing or this wonderful author) Love can’t be turned off simply because the circumstances require it. I can't say that I really like-liked it...but it was interesting. I have read "Alpha, Beta, Omega' character books before and found them at most..."tolerable". However, this was Nora Phoenix...one of my favorite M/M Romance writers, so I thought that I would see how she presented the "alpha/omega" subject. The characters were diverse enough that it was very easy to distinguish who was who when all four of them was together. The characters were: Lidon: - a powerful alpha-cop. Enar: - an alpha-doctor who dedicates his life to serving omegas who need his help. Palani: - a sassy beta reporter who will do anything to save his omega lover, even if it means watching another man claim him. Vieno: - an omega who suffers from a medical condition that requires an alpha’s help.
All four characters are complex and fascinating and their dynamics, both in pairs and as a foursome make them easily distinguishable when they are together. There’s a lot of political stuff in this "alternative paranormal world"...the world where omegas aren’t only second-class citizens but have been dumped down to the bottom of the pecking order and the Betas don’t fare much better.
Along with readers learning about our four individual citizens of this world, we also learn a lot about life there in general...like how potentially dangerous the police and journalistic investigation, which both Lidon and Palani are involved in is, and how it could have some huge irreversible repercussions for the entire Alpha/beta/omega society as a whole.
There is an actual mystery involved here also. We learn the why and how that omegas are suddenly so irresistible to the point that it could cause harm to both parties. The emotions were very tangible, and I was sympathetic to all their misgivings and their doubts, as well as their desires.
There isn't any actual sexual activity, involving all four guys together, in this book...but I have read that there is in book 2, but I'm not sure, as much as I love Nora Phoenix, that I will go any further with this series. We can't all like the same thing or there simply wouldn't be enough to go around.
After reading and loving Nora Phoenix's spin-off series, Irresistible Dragons, reading the base series was pretty much inevitable. I wasn’t ready to leave that world, plus I wanted to learn more about all of the established triads in the Hayes pack.
Well. Before learning about any of the pack's triads we get to learn about the four men that make up the pack's only foursome: Lidon, Enar, Palani, and Vieno.
There isn't any actual foursome activity in this book (that'll be in book 2) but we do get see what brings these men together and what their role in their group they will be. I genuinely liked all of them and thought they each brought something unique to their relationship.
I have to let that ending sit with me a while longer but I did like the explanation for their situation.
As of now, there aren't any shifters in the story but the ground work ia being laid for their return. This was a great start to what I hope will be a great series. 4 stars
Alpha’s Sacrifice is one of these stories that I just keep coming back to - I love the world and characters that Nora Phoenix created here!
There were a lot of different dynamics between Lidon, Vieno, Palani and Enar, and I loved to see the men all get to know each other, no matter how unconventional their friendships and relationships might have been initially. The characters were all very well written and had their own distinct personalities and voices, and it was very easy to get intrigued by them and their relationships. Lidon was so sweet, and I loved to see how understanding and patient he was with Vieno. I mean, who doesn’t love an alpha that turns into a huge softy around their omega mate?
It was a steamy read, with heats and knotting, but there was also a lot of things going on plot wise. It was interesting to see what Palani started to uncover around the Melloni gene, and how it effected the omegas. The corruption and political themes built some suspense, and I’m curious to see how far things with the gene goes. I loved the depths and layers of the story, and I’m pretty sure this book barely scratched the surface of everything going on. I know from The White House Men series that Nora Phoenix is great at writing overarching plot lines full of politics and twists, so I’m very excited to see how this will all play out!
Alpha’s Sacrifice was a very strong start to the Irresistible Omegas series, full of emotions and love, but also corruption and political schemes. I’m already feeling so invested in this series and the characters, and I’d love to see more of these four men and their relationship, as the ending came right when things started to fall into place for them. A little bit of a cliffhanger (or maybe more of a teaser), but anyway, it was a very effective way to make me jump right into the second book!
I have put several of Ms. Phoenix's novels on my TBR shelf but this is the first one that I've read.
This was a great introduction to her. I like the world that she has created for our wonderful characters. And the storyline was great, corrupt cops, medical malpractice and just being inhuman.
Anyone getting a glimpse of this title will likely see the MMMM and balk, thinking it'll be all porn and no plot. That is not the case here. I promise you.
I've DNF the only other book I've read by this author before, but this was addictive reading and I was drawn in to the world of these 4 men. And it was more than just the relationship, the world building was complex and intriguing, with the author delving into a genetic conspiracy as well as rewriting the ABO history books to turn MPreg a little on its head.
I'm invested in the story here. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to all the dirty, dirty sex we've all but been promised in the next one.
I really looked forward to read this non-shifter book for weeks, and was happy when I finally flipped open page one. Ouch, a couple typos right at the beginning, main characters with blue eyes one second and warm brown ones on the next page. With a great storyline I could've easily overlooked those simple slips. But the further I got into the book, the less I liked it.
I had a similar reaction to the author's Ballsy Boys series. My conclusion is the writing style simply isn't for me. I'm happy to see so many others love this shifter quartet but my journey with them ends here.
(PS. There isn't any on-page mpreg nor MMMM menage in this first book of the series, despite what the topic tags in the blurb indicates.)
this book scared me for a long time because palani is my baby and every time he hurt, i hurt with him. but all the chest pain is totally worth that crescendo at the end where they all finally start coming (ha) together.
i really do like all the characters individually, but palani and enar especially. i really want the very best for them all and i cannot wait to see how their dynamic works in the next book and in the rest of the series.
this was crack, and i’m sad that book two is on the back burner for me right now, but i cannot wait to continue this story.
also thank you and fuck you to sam for recommending this bc i know it’s going to ruin me.
So credit where credit is due, I liked how hard this author worked at the a/b/o dynamics and problems there-in. This is a society where people are fully aware of the problems, much like racism, sexism, etc, and struggle with/against them. I really really liked that.
I wish the wolves thing had been better explained.
And I'm afraid the cliff-hanger ending completely pissed me off. Don't tell me a story is MMMM then go 'TO BE CONTINUED' right as they're finally getting together, with no actual MMMM in the damn story. I don't appreciate being manipulated and played like that. The author could have easily continued the book for another chapter or so to give the readers the MMMM they'd been eagerly waiting for, and still ended on a GOOD cliff hanger that would have made sense without shitting on readers.
So as much as I loved the creativity, effort, and detail put into this book, the BS ending leaves me with no desire to continue the series or read further books by this author.
Warning: This ends on a soft cliffie...er...a hard cliffie...er...hard cocks. Peeps...it ends just as things are getting juicy! But, have no fear - the sneak peak into the next book pics right up. And, the next book is already out. So...phew!!
MMMM Overse, sorta RH. Confused, yet? Yeah, me too. That is, before I read this.
I'll admit, I'm not a huge fan of Reverse Harem usually. It's not my go-to kink, that's for sure. But I can appreciate when it's well-written, hot AF, and each character is strong. This book is definitely all of those things, but it's the dynamic between the characters that I enjoyed most.
Okay...there are a few instances of repetition that drag the story a bit. Yet, I didn't mind them so much because they focused on the inner turmoil of the characters. And I fell for these guys HARD. I had tears reading that last sexy scene :)
RH within an Omegaverse is something I usually find kinda sorta oddball. I like my Alphas to be over the top, possessive to excess, and non-con-y in the very best of ways. There's some of that in this one (no non-con, though), but the usual tropes are overshadowed by deeper character development in this case.
Oh, and - SURPRISE - there's an actual plot, too! The intrigue of a mystery is only beginning to build with this book, but it had me guessing at what will be revealed in future books. Love when I can't figure it all out right away.
Another great omegaverse book, this time in a modern setting.
The players: Lidon – Alpha. Cop. Commanding but tender. Enar – Alpha. Doctor. Caring but also needs to be taken care of. Palani – Beta. Reporter. A bit too mouthy for his own good. Vieno – Omega. Personal assistant. Sweet, dipped in sugar and everyone wants to lick him.
It’s suppose to be an MMMM romance, and in a way it is, but in this first book there isn’t any sex where all four men are involved. There is plenty of sex however between… well… all of them, just not together. The heat level is off the charts.
Palani and Vieno are childhood friends and lovers, but complications with his heat require that Vieno take on an alpha’s help, because Palani, as a beta is not enough. His doctor Enar, who’s very understanding and compassionate, could help, but he’s not strong and dominant enough to handle Vieno, so the good doctor asks his best friend for help. Lidon thinks they all crazy. But there’s something about the little omega that draws him in, also his not a heartless bastard to just leave an omega in pain.
The dynamic between the men got disrupted thanks to that encounter and other more pressing issues. There’s confusion and heartbreak. Around the 50% mark I felt I was reading two books with two couples (and I mean that as a compliment). One couple was more romantic, sweet, and tender with each other, while the other couple was more playful and they were still in the early stages of them getting to know each other. But at the same time the four of them belonged together and it was there all along just below the surface, the author didn’t let us forget that.
There’s also a hint of mystery in the story, regarding birth control pills and suicidal omegas, and their profession connects them together even more, even Vieno. He’s kind of in the center of all this.
So we didn’t see the four men together yet, and we also didn’t see the mystery get solved. The whole thing will unfold in the second book. I loved how the author – deliberately or not, but definitely in a clever way – dragged it out. The four men needed to go slow, otherwise it would’ve felt very rushed, and sloppy, it would’ve been all about the sex.
Highly recommend it to omegaverse lovers, but keep in mind their story isn’t finished, there’s a second book, and there will be a third? We’ll see.
Re-read February 7, 2024- This time I listened to the audiobook and John Solo did an amazing job. This book is just half of the story of these four men. It doesn't end on a cliffhanger, but it's incomplete. Definitely need to read the next book for the complete story of these four. ****************************************** Original Review 4.5 stars
This is my first time reading an alpha-beta-omega story and I'm in! I loved all four men equally and I'm anxious to see where their relationship and their lives go from here. I am also invested in the investigation into the pharmaceutical company and the mystery causing the gene mutation that Vieno has.
Unsure how to rate this one. I liked getting the introduction to the omegaverse and learning about everyone’s different roles. I really liked that it wasn’t all smut and had an interesting storyline featuring an illegal drug trade and dodgy cops. I liked that the characters actually had jobs and personalities instead of just being there for the sex. But everything felt a bit underdeveloped and unbalanced. Maybe this is the result of 4 POV. The viewpoints swapped so quickly between the 4 characters I never really felt invested in any of them. I liked Palani and Enar the most and ultimately felt there needed to be more getting to know you time before everyone jumping into a deeply committed 4 way relationship. But maybe I’ve missed the point here? Nevertheless I’m intrigued by what’s to come and I’m going straight into book 2 to see if that completes this story more.
I struggled to finish this book because I was too emotional, it just brought back memories of a dear friend of mine who suffered from menorrhagia and it was so life threatening that she’d faint from too much pain and other times her fever would be so high we always feared that she’d succumb which in the end she did.
Back to the book, it was a great read, I actually enjoyed it so much it wasn’t focused on heat and the the pleasures but important topics, it’s amazing how the author managed to do it and what was interesting as well is the relationship dynamics, it was heartbreaking and beautiful to read.
Thank you Kati ❤️ (I picked this book up because of her… my babe 😊)
Nora Phoenix has cured my book slump and I’m so enamored with this foursome 😭
The overarching storyline is so original but not overpowering to the build up of these characters. Nothing about this feels overwhelming which is impressive for book one of a pretty long series.
I went into this story entirely blind and I’m so glad I did. The storytelling and storyline are brilliantly done and the writing is so solid.
I REALLY wanted to like this book. I appreciated the world building, the actual plot, and the different approach to the a/b/o dynamics. My two main issues with this book were Vieno and the balance of the relationship.
Vieno… god I don’t wanna be mean, but I kind of just wanted him to shut his whiney ass up (it was worse in the second book). It may be because his backstory wasn’t really all that developed to me or his agoraphobia was kind of glossed over, but I felt more sympathy for Palani and Enar than I did Vieno. Full disclaimer here that this may have just been a me problem because I didn’t like Vieno’s character. I kept hoping I’d grow to like him, but I didn’t. He’s supposed to be super special, sweet, and everyone loves him, but I couldn’t see why. This series is called Irresistible Omegas though, so I’ll just take everyone’s word for it.
On to my second issue: I couldn’t get past how unbalanced the relationship felt to me. I love a good menage, but this one really fell short (for me). It was like Lidon and Vieno were the important ones and the others were extras. Their addition to the relationship was more forced than anything. I didn’t really feel a connection between all four. I read the second book in the hopes that would change, but I still felt the same way. To me it seems like the author alluded many times to Lidon and Vieno being more important. We’re told many times that they all complete each other, they’re all equal, they all love each other, etc., but I REALLY didn’t feel it. I got annoyed when Vieno’s needs were put above all and the others’ struggles were glossed over. The amount of eye rolling I did in the second book was insane. This is tied back to my dislike of Vieno though, so again this just might be a me thing. The author did try to stress the importance of the foursome, but then in the next sentence would stress Vieno or Lidon being first or mention something that set them apart. Palani and Enar just accepted being second and that to me didn’t seem fair at all. There’s a specific scene in the second book that really irritated the fuck out of me in regards to this. I think I’d have preferred having Vieno shoved off with Lidon and Palani and Enar healing together.
