Bex The last thing i expected was to wake up in a rockstar's bed—and not just any rockstar. Lazarus Knight, my idol and the man who awakened my sexuality, saved my butt last night... And now the only thing i can think about is his. Lazarus The last thing i expected was to play the part of a white knight—at a gig no doubt. But i couldn't just stand there and let the guy get hurt. They roofied him. Shit like that, it messes you up. I told myself he was way too young, but Bex is like a drug. One taste and I'm hooked, looking for my next fix. But sometimes, love comes at a price...
Omfggggggg honestly, Bex is a fucking idiot. Bex almost gets gang raped. Chooses not to report to the police. Chooses not to report to his parents yet ask to move out of the dorms. Bex’s parents dont know the full extent of the harassment he is getting from some of the guys at school. So they obvs say no to him moving out of the dorms. He agrees to see Porter- the conspirator who roofied him at the party at the beginning of the book- who then forces him to blow him in order for Bex to get his Camera back and Bex does. And then he and his croonies take pictures of him and blackmail him. And Bex does all this Without a fight. Like c’mon!!!?? At least bring a fucking switch blade with you??? You can see their plan from a mile away. Im so angry right now.
Also Laz needs to have punched Gideon like since the first chapter. The guy was supposedly your best friend and fucked your boyfriend in your bed. AND Laz forgives him and Laz apologizes as well. Fuck that shit. Gideon is the drummer in the band as well- but business is business and this shit was personal. I would have not forgiven Gideon and just worked with him only. Wouldn’t take him back as a friend. There’s also Bex who even forgave his roommate Thom who helped Porter Harass him as well. Even if Porter blackmailed Thom, the shit still happened. These reactions from the MC’s are frustrating me. The writing is also not something I enjoy as well. I’m skimming at the book at this point basically.
Also - I hate Ivy.
And another thing - tired of everyone saying “its going to be ok” after every little crazy scene (the bullying, almost gang rape, boyfriend kidnapped, sexually harassed, parents disowning you etc... ) the fuck, nothing is ok!?? Why would you say that !

I wish I could give this more stars but there just too many big things that bothered me. I mean Laz is this big rock star and someone had access to his personal mailbox? Also, his friend/boyfriend is being tortured at school and he does nothing? He's a big guy and nothing? And Bex. At the beginning we're given a distinct impression that he's this cute twink with a crush on Laz but he doesn't know if he's gay? What? And could Bex get hurt a little more? Jesus H., give the kid a freaking break already. Those complaints said, I did read this all in one sitting because I just couldn't wait to see what happened next...like a car crash you just know is going to happen but you can't look away. I didn't hate this book at all it was just a bit weird IMO.
I feel so badly about what Bex had to go through. Thank God he had Laz...his true guardian angel. There is one or two things that went unnoticed...#1 is that Bex had proof in the picture he was sent of being drugged and Lola had pictures all over her wall of Bex being forced by Porter and his friends. He had enough proof right there for charges to be pressed against Porter no matter who his father is. #2 is that no one even said that raping a boy and having them suck you off screams that Porter is in fact gay himself.... he should have shot that right back at him.
This book is basically divided into 3 equal parts: 1) angst over bul!ying, over being outed, over parental disapproval; 2) impossibly long assed and complex sex scenes, (I'm a fast reader. I timed reading 1 scene. It would take 3 times as long to perform the gymnastics involved. Impossible unless on Viagra.); And finally 3) the romantic story line of 'how many ways can one 19 year old get roughed up, beat up, demoralized, run down by a car, kidnapped, and stabbed before he finds true love?' The author overdid the violence in this book hence the 4 stars.
I'm blown away. This book had me on a rollercoaster ride. It gives you all the emotions you can think of. I was captivated from page one. I think I may even love it more than the first book. Definitely want more of this series. This was exactly what I was looking for with the hurt/comfort, age gap but not Daddy Dom trope. I would have loved a 6 month down the road epilogue.
Good until the end with the sudden, unnecessary and kind of undeserving redemption of certain characters. Overall I really enjoyed the book but the part with the mom, Gideon and Thom at the end was really unnecessary especially considering the mom and Gideon storyline wasn’t even really fleshed out.
This is how you can differentiate between a great writer and an okay one . When you can feel the emotions of each character. I cried and laughed and loved right along with them. Really great book.
DNF 62% No Rating. All the bad things about the writing/plot in the first one that I was willing to overlook came back 10x worse in this one. There was no overlooking it this time.
