This book was essential for my orals studies to get my Canadian watchkeeping certificate. I only took a star off my personal review because it goes a bit into the weeds about shiphandling for watchkeeping purposes. However, for anyone looking to become a Captain or Chief Mate I'd say this book is 5 stars and absolutely a must-read.

For my OOW-NC certificate I focused on chapters 1 (the section about mooring equipment specifically), 2-5, and the steering parts of Appendix A.
