Lisa Jackson is the number-one New York Times bestselling author of over ninety-five novels, including the Rick Bentz and Reuben Montoya Series, the Pescoli and Alvarez Series, the Savannah series, and numerous stand alone novels. She also is the co-author of One Last Breath, Last Girl Standing, and the Colony Series, written with her sister and bestselling author Nancy Bush, as well as the collaborative novels Sinister and Ominous, written with Nancy Bush and Rosalind Noonan. There are over thirty million copies of her novels in print and her writing has been translated into twenty languages.

Before she became a nationally bestselling author, she was a mother struggling to keep food on the table by writing novels, hoping against hope that someone would pay her for them. Today, neck deep in murder, her books appear on The New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly national bestseller lists.

With dozens of bestsellers to her name, Lisa Jackson is a master of taking readers to the edge of sanity—and back—in novels that buzz with dangerous secrets and deadly passions. She continues to be fascinated by the minds and motives of both her killers and their pursuers—the personal, the professional, and the downright twisted. As she builds the puzzle of relationships, actions, clues, lies, and personal histories that haunt her protagonists, she must also confront the fear and terror faced by her victims and the harsh and enduring truth that, in the real world, terror and madness touch far too many lives and families.

Fourth Lisa Jackson book and another in the J challenge sees another case of a male lead strutting around grumpy and yelling a lot and another female lead being strong and independent and hanging on to a family business and then becoming all weak at the knees as the big strong grump takes her into his arms and they form galaxies and have the biggest drug high with a single kiss and then two pages later are arguing and say things that could end their relationship forever, which is another two pages before they are falling all over themselves again etc, etc, etc.
It felt like the same characters in the last one with different jobs and names.
Anyway apparently things get better in LJ world, it will be little while before I enter the dangerous world again as I await the next one to arrive.

Sheila Lindstrom lost her father in a fire at the family owned winery. Before his death her father borrowed a huge amount of money from Wilder Investments. The insurance company refuses to pay on suspicion of arson. It looks like her father deliberately set the winery on fire to collect the insurance money and he got trapped in the fire. Sheila needs to clear her father's name and start the winery up again before Wilder Investments forecloses. She meets with the interim President of Wilder Investments, Noah Wilder. When Sheila meets Noah there is a magnetic attraction between the two. She cannot get involved with Noah. Her first priority is the winery. Noah must find out if Sheila was in on her father's supposed plan. Can the two people find out the truth while fighting their attraction to each other?

Sheila Lindstrom lost her father and the winery her father ran from a fire. She tried getting in touch with Ben Wilder, who was her father's business partner. Instead of finding Ben, she finds Noah, his son. Noah is not happy running Wilder Investments, since his father is not the most honest business man. He looks for companies that are about to fold and invest in them so he can eventually take over. Noah, had a son who was 16 and giving him a lot of problems. He is really attracted to Sheila and he tries to find out who started the fire. The investigator that works for Wilder Investment is not very honest. His report says that Sheila's father was the arsonist. Noah doesn't really believe that so he goes to the winery with Sean to investigate himself. Sheila and Noah fall in love but Ben tries to come between them.

Sheila is devastated by the thought that her dad set their winery on fire and killed himself. When she goes to confront Noah, things change.

They fall in love so quick but to me Noah is a jerk that gets what he wants when he wants.

There are two kids involved too. Emily is Sheila daughter. Sean is Noah's sin. Emily idolizes Sean but he doesn't like her at first.

Can Noah help Sheila get the winery back up and running? Will Noah come clean with her.

A nice quick read.

A real page turner and happy ever after ending. You don’t go through much of the sad stuff accept as memories. Man meets women, both have children from previous relationships/marriages, falls in love, children like each other, careers are compatible-perfect. My first read of Lisa Jackson.

I didn't realize when I picked up the Susipcions audiobook that it was 2 1980s romances. I just find the writing from that time awful - couples who can't have a decent conversation, couples who have sex once & are in love, female leads who are doormats, etc. Just not for me.

This one was from the ripped bodice. Romance from the 80s and while I actually ended up enjoying it, it definitely felt quite dated. Noah was kind of giving me whiplash, and I wish I bought the connection between the leads a bit more.

This was a much different kind of book than I'm used to reading from Lisa, but I enjoyed it nevertheless. Strong characters. Good Plot. Happy ending.

Very short and sort of unrealistic story. Not used to this from Lisa.

My first time reading Lisa Jackson and it was a little tedious and a little meh. I have several more of her books in my TBR so I will give her another try.

Tears of Pride depicts the trials and tribulations of Sheila Lindstrom and how she works at overcoming them. The interplay between the main characters is interesting and Lisa Jackson incorporates a bit of mystery with regard to the devastating fire that propelled her into her ordeal. As a relationship between Sheila and Noah Wilder evolves, its orbit collides with the fire's investigation. As a reader, one leaps to some conclusions as to the "who done it" theories. Jackson presents enough twists to keep you interested.

It is always disappointing to read an early book of an author you really like. Lisa Jackson is a good author, but this early effort (a first book maybe?)is awkward, predictable, amateurish. This is good documentation for the value of experience. John Grisham is an obvious exception to that rule; I believe that A Time to Kill (his first novel) is one of his best.

This was a little slow but the plot remained steady and solid. Decent read with emotional roller coasters. Nothing wow-ing, but a good read read nonetheless.

Good story

Good story with interesting characters, even if the story was written in the 1980's. I liked it. You can see how much Lisa Jackson has improved and matured as a writer.
