Braxton Cannon can’t get the girl on the dance floor out of his mind, the woman he literally swept off her feet and into Club Verge. She’s no submissive, but he can’t help but admire her ferocity, even as he yearns to take her over his lap and teach her manners. He’s determined to keep her safe if he has to lock her up himself.
Officer Zoe Mackay can handle herself. But when she learns information that puts her life at risk, she’s forced to seek the assistance of a private investigator. Little does she know the man she hires is none other than Braxton Cannon, the high-handed dominant who gave her the hottest one-night stand of her life.
With her assailants in hot pursuit, Zoe is forced to seek refuge in Club Verge, where she finds way more than she’s bargained for…
Fueled by dark chocolate and even darker coffee, USA Today bestselling author Jane Henry writes what she loves to read – character-driven, unputdownable romance featuring dominant alpha males and the powerful heroines who bring them to their knees. She’s believed in the power of love and romance since Belle won over the beast, and finally decided to write love stories of her own.
The last thing Zoe expected after her night with Braxton was to find out he was the bodyguard assigned to protect her while she investigated the shady doings in her police department.
Braxton is determined to keep her safe, but the feisty police officer has different ideas about her safety. Can he keep his dominance under control long enough to build a relationship with her, while protecting her from a very dangerous situation?
I liked both Zoe and Braxton. Zoe is no one's doormat, and her sense of honor means she's not going to let some unsavory character run roughshod over her city. Braxton's sense of protectiveness, while still accepting Zoe's right to be herself made him an endearing alpha male.
The plot is convoluted but not hard to follow and the characters keep the action jumping off the pages.
Overall, a delightful addition to the author's NYC Doms series.
It's been quite a while since the last book I've read by Jane Henry and I'm happy that I've picked up again Braxton and Zoe's story. It was just what I needed to read at the moment.
Conviction is another stunning success in Jane Henry’s New York Dom’s series that begs to be read. If you haven’t read any of Jane’s work, I highly suggest that if you want a smart, sexy read with uber hot Alpha males who aren’t afraid to take control where it counts, and strong women who can dish it out as well as they can take it.
This is the third book in this series, and if you haven’t read the other two books, it’s not necessary , but helps with the other characters who appear in the background. It’s a wedding! And single police officer Zoe meets a hot, built guy who rocks her world. She ends up leaving the reception with him and finds out a few things about him, namely that he’s a guy who likes to be in charge. The next morning comes with surprises. Zoe lets Braxton in on a big secret that could get them both in trouble! You’ll seriously want to put yourself in Zoe’s place after reading this! Where can I sign up?
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Another great story in the NYC Doms series, and while its part of a series, it will easily read as a stand-alone. It does have several people from the first two books but mainly will focus on Braxton Cannon and Zoe Mackay. The story has a great cast of characters, real-life emotions, mystery, and suspense, danger, angst, and is definitely a page-turner that I didn’t want to put down. I am already excited for more in this series.
Braxton sold his auto body shop and was looking for something to help fill in time between the club scene. Now he is a Dungeon Monitor at Verge and is also going to start doing PI work for Stefan Myers His first assignment will not be as cut and dry as one would hope and it is the main factor that keeps this tale on edge.
Officer Zoe MacKay is tough for her work, not afraid to confront criminals, and can hold her own. When she becomes privy to some critical information that involves law enforcement and government officials, she needs to see the aid of a private investigator. She had bad vibes with the officer she had been dating and believed he is involved with criminal activity, including the death of a man.
The story will start at the party to celebrate the marriage of Zach and Beatrice. Brax had been warned by Zach to avoid Zoe because she has emotional baggage but ignores that message. He has been watching Zoe on the dance floor and also has seen her taking multiple shots. She will go from dancing to agreeing to leave the party with him, a complete stranger. What seems to be a one-night hookup will change in the light of day. What a shock to go to her appointment at Myers Investigation and meet Braxton there.
The plot will have Zoe sharing sensitive information at the PI firm with Braxton, and when he takes her to her apartment, there is someone in there. A fight will take place, but the assailant will get away. That is all it takes for Brax to know that he needs to get Zoe moved and in protection, she is a target. Taking her to Club Verge will offer her a safe place with security and limited access.
“I trust him. Let him take care of you.”
Two people, each with a past, will be together as they break open a major criminal case that has some people in hiding and others murdered. The chemistry between Brax and Zoe is evident, and while she isn’t submissive, she willingly submits to him. He opens the door to a new world of sexuality that is unlike anything she has ever experienced. He isn’t afraid to catch her when she falls, and she opens up to him about her painful childhood. For two people not really dating, their time together allows them to learn about a person than most would in months of dating.
“A little pain play—spanking—bondage. Yeah, those are my favorite.”
“She literally has no safe place; nowhere she could turn as a child and now as an adult. But she isn’t alone anymore. She doesn’t have to face this by herself. Then the way we talked, whispering in the darkness, a borrowed place and time where trusts are kept, and hushed secrets given voice. He listened. Then he held me until I fell asleep. My heart belongs to this man, and I’m powerless to stop it. I’m never powerless to anything. Where do we go from here? He isn’t the one making me cry. He’s the one who hurts me in a way that frees me.”
After Braxton’s bad relationship with Nicole, he is cautious with women. He has a daughter, Devin, and she is his world. For years now, he has played with partners, but not let them in, but Zoe isn’t like the rest, she is real, she is honest.
“I’ve glimpsed my prize, and I’m not letting go. I don’t want a woman who’s supple and compliant. I want to fight for her submission and earn it, like a king in battle. I want all her flaws and imperfections with her beauty, for it was in overcoming her demons she became who she is today.”
“There is a difference between being a natural sub and submitting to one person. She’s a multi-faced enigma, a beautiful, heartbreaking meld of past, present, and future, intricately woven with needs I yearn to fill. She longs for the empathy and companionship of a friend, the protection, and guidance of a dom, the thrill, and adoration of a lover.”
The story will take on life and death danger as Braxton and Zoe go into hiding while contacting key witnesses to a criminal organization within law enforcement. They must keep Zoe in hiding as they uncover where several witnesses are that can help bring down the corrupt. There is plenty of BDSM and spanking scenes, mostly in the context in private with minor discipline with explicit sex scenes.
This is the 3rd book of the NYC Doms and I did enjoy it I really did. BUT I had an issue with Zoe. I understand strong women and really do enjoy them as characters, hell I know a lot of them in real life. But Zoe I think took it to far sometimes and her mouth is just horrible. She disrespects a lot of people when all they are trying to do is help her. Again I understand she doesn't want "their" help because she thinks they are not the right people to help but damn she doesn't have to treat them like she does.
Braxton meets Zoe at their friend's wedding and it is instant lust. But when he finds that she is in trouble ( by accident) and wants to help her, she really does treat him like crap. But Braxton takes it one step at a time. I mean I have to give him props. Although sometimes Braxton does take the BDSM line to far, especially since Zoe is not from that life and knows very little of it. So sometimes it was a little much.
So I gave this book 4 stars even though there seems to be so much I am complaining about. But the story is actually pretty good if you ignore the mouth and the sometimes out of place spankings.
Braxton🐺🍆🌋 is a full time dungeon monitor at a BDSM club in NYC called Verge. At a wedding, he sees Zoe💃🔫🎹, a woman dancing, with some awesome moves. He wants to get to know her. Zoe 💃🔫has plenty of baggage from her past. Brax🐺🍆🌋🔫 is bound and determined to be her fixer. Braxton is a known Spankenstein! Zoe gets plenty of that action!
ARC Received for a Voluntary and Honest Review. I also got the book📑 with KU.
I liked the book📑 but it seemed independent Zoe fell apart and became dependant on Brax, way too quickly. It was insta lust in five minutes! Also, Zoe fell into Braxton's dominance too easy. The book is written from dual points of view. It's a fantasy, right?!
"A deep, abiding need to claim her thrums through me. She’s mine. She just hasn’t figured that out yet."
"Having her submit to me makes me feel like a fucking king, like I rule the world, even if I have to fight my way there."
"She longs for the empathy and companionship of a friend, the protection and guidance of a dom, the thrill and adoration of a lover."
Hello Braxton 😍 a new Dom has stolen my heart. I loved everything about him and Zoe. Zoe covers her vulnerabilities with sass and attitude. She's a fighter, strong and beautiful. Brax gives her the release from always being strong that she didn't know she needed. This series continues to work for me with the right amount of BDSM, tenderness and story line.
Zoe and Brax had one night together that she won't ever forget. She's a tough, kick butt police officer but becomes someone who needs protection when she finds evidence that could get her killed. Guess who gets to protect her? Brax!! The chemisty between the two is over the top and get heated really quick. Will Brax and the other guys be able to get to Zoe when her life is in danger? I loved the flow of this and the sexiness of the whole story! Out of the three books so far, this is my favorite to date! Loved, loved, loved it!!!
This is a great book and series! Brax meets Zoe at Zach’s wedding and is instantly drawn to her on the dance floor. Zach is warned away but he sees that as a challenge, and boy is Zoe challenging. Zoe just graduated the academy and is now on the NYC police force but she comes with some major baggage. Her friend warned her away from Brax, but she is so drawn to him that she doesn’t heed her friend’s warnings. What was supposed to be a one-night stand turns into something a whole lot more. Will Zoe let Brax in and lean on him when her world is falling apart? Will Brax go all big, bad Dom on her to get her compliance?
Book titles can be good or bad and sometimes it feels like the author is reaching for something with a title that their book doesn't deliver. In Conviction, the title quickly makes sense and is accurate. Brax is determined to protect Zoe after she sees something she shouldn't have. The problems are that they just met, he's a dominant, she's not familiar with BDSM and she's a capable cop who's used to taking care of herself. There's plenty of friction as they try to figure things out and that friction leads to a lot of heat.
I love reading a story that has a strong but venerable, and that is Zoe. I feel in love with Zoe in the first chapter as she let loose, and danced her way right into Brax's line of vision. I can't even say enough about Brax. I don't have enough room to even explain how much I love him. He is just awesome. I think what made me fall head over heels for him is the way he felt honored that Zoe would submit to him. I just melted right along with my panties. This is my favorite so far in the series.
When police officer Zoe Mackay has a hot one night stand with a guy at Club Verge, she never imagines he'll be the man to offer her protection, protection she doesn't think she needs. Braxton is a club bouncer, sometimes dungeon monitor and newly instated muscle for a PI firm. He's also a Dom with a daughter who's his highest priority. So when he spends a hot night with a woman who's nothing like the subs he normally plays with at Verge, his protective instincts have him all growly and caveman-ish when it becomes obvious she needs his protection, even as she protests that she doesn't need or want it.
Zoe and Brax are hot together. Seeing Zoe slowly come to trust Brax and come to terms with her need to submit to him in the bedroom was both entertaining and fun. I wanted Zoe to have come to terms with her dueling desires (to be tough and independent AND to submit in the bedroom) a little quicker, but considering her past, it was understandable why she fought Brax and his domination so hard. This installment of the NYC Doms series is steamy and emotionally satisfying, can't wait for more!
Zoe is strong. She is independent. Quick tempered. Fiery. What's one thing she's not? Submissive. Zoe has spent years concentrating all of her "damaged" pieces into a force to be reckoned with within the New York Police Department. It's her purpose in life to give justice to those who feel like they have no hope of justice. She doesn't need to be saved, she does the saving. Her life gets flip turned upside down when she's pushed to the point of asking for help from one of the most dominant men she's ever met. No matter how much she is drawn to him, she refuses to believe she's a submissive person. After all, there's a difference between being a submissive and submitting to one person.
Brax is strong. He is dominant. Patient. Caring. Longs for that one woman who can trust him enough to submit to him and let him take care of her. What happens when he realizes the one woman he wants to submit to him, will be the one who challenges him the most? Brax is a DM (dungeon master) at the most prestigious kink club in New York City, Verge. When he went to one of his closest friends reception, the last thing he expected was to be enthralled by the curvy police officer on the dance floor. Who would have thought he'd crave the one woman who would challenge his dominance? Will she be able to accept him and the Dom inside him?
Sweet lanta, where do I begin with Zoe and Brax. I generally have reservations when a BDSM book starts off with a strong Dom and a FMC who has never been introduced to the kink life. I was afraid Zoe was going to be thrown into the kinkiest play from the get go (which is unrealistic to me), or that her fiery personality would dull into a wet blanket mentality. I was also afraid that the plot or the BDSM world would distract from each other. Boy was I proved wrong. The story flowed smoothly. There was growth from both Brax and Zoe, growth that was fascinating to watch. The kink aspect of the story didn't distract from the overall plot, instead it molded with it effortlessly. I was eager to flip page after page, always left wanting more.
Zoe was clueless to the kink life outside of a few things she read online and had heard through the grapevine. The descriptions she gave to the different toys and devices in Brax's private room were both comical and interesting, especially when you are someone who knows exactly what that's for and she has no clue. She is confused by how it interests her so much, but Brax doesn't let her get too into her head about it. She is afraid that by being submissive she can no longer be independent and powerful, but Brax takes the time to teach her that being submissive does have power. One of my favorite lines of the entire book, "I said I like submission. When did I say anything about a submissive personality?"
Brax was dominant with her, but never tried to diminish her fire. He loved the challenge he gave her, but also worshipped the gift of her submission when she gave it. She never want to be seen as weak or pitied, but Brax never once makes her feel that way. Instead he shows her that what she deems a weakness is actually something that has granted her so much strength. No matter how hard she pushed him, he took it. He accepted it when she needed him too, and he pushed her even when she didn't realize she needed him.
Hot tamale the sex scenes. These only dip a toe into the world of BDSM, but what was given was given beautifully. Zoe is being introduced into the world, and it is catered to their own brand of kink. Let me just tell you you will be looking at your belt and some rope with fresh new eyes and intrigue. The after care scenes were so important, not only to represent the world but also because those were the moments that their relationship really blossomed.
Overall I must say Brax and Zoe can convict me anytime. I fell in love with their brutal honesty and their own beautiful kind of damage. Submission to one doesn't mean a submissive personality. Submission is a gift to be treasured, and it was damn beautiful thing to witness Brax teach Zoe.
Suspense galore, emotive and alluring – AN ELOQUENT EROTIC EXPERIENCE and a tale of unconditional love. If Ever I go to NYC again, I really want to go to VERGE, the club that author Jane Henry has made so famous in her’ NYC DOMS’ series. That VERGE is also a figment of Henry’s awesome imagination is just baggage I want to ignore . . . because these characters I’ve come to know through reading the novels in her series NYC DOMS are so amazing! I’d love to meet them in real life, ya know? Seriously, if you have not read any books in Jane Henry’s ‘NYC DOMS’ series, then start with her newest offering, “CONVICTION!” This newest tale lets readers live the story of Braxton (Brax) and Zoe. I do not use the verb “live” lightly. Author Jane Henry has a unique prose which pulls her readers inside of the events of the plot and cocoons those readers within a world which doesn’t let go until the very last page. Leaving readers enriched by the experience, and a least for this reader/reviewer bereft with the loss of characters I’ve come to love. Reading a romance by Jane Henry is like sipping a fine wine. Although readers want to consume the book in one reading, they pause to fully experience the heights and depths of the love and caring described with its pages. I’ve heard that some readers may even be a bit miffed with the intrusion of real life! However, please note that each book in the series tells the stand-alone story of one of the Doms who frequent or work at VERGE a specialized private BDSM club in the city. Although each subsequent novel has told a bit more of their divergent tales, it matters not where a reader starts, because author Henry promises an HEA! Reading about how the impossible happens over-and-over again is the fun! There is laughter, pain, joy, crying and letting go . . . Every emotion known to man. So, a cool drink, a fan, and a box of tissues are suggested by this reviewer as they do not come with the book, and readers will find a need for each of them as “CONVICTION” is consumed. I was given an ARC of “CONVICTION” to prepare this honest, voluntary review which has earned the HIGHEST five-star recommendation I can post. If I could give more stars, then for “CONVICTION” I would. So, as a HIGHLY recommended novel and with the STRONGEST encouragement I could possibly give, I implore you to purchase your copy of “CONVICTION” today. (There are elements of kinky BDSM woven into this beautiful love story, so 18+ readers only!) Happy pages! 😉
I loved this book about Zoe, a NYC cop who meets Braxton, a dungeon Master at Verge, a BDSM Club and starting a new extra job as a PI. The meeting of this pair starts off with Zoe drinking and dancing her heart out at her friend's reception. Through the wedding celebration, Brax's attention is grabbed by the spitfire shaking her booty on the dance floor, and he makes his move. Zoe is a bit buzzed and really attracted to the giant, bald headed hunk she learns is Braxton, her friend's friend. Their one night stand, though hot as can be, ends up very complicated when it's found out that Brax, as a new PI, is the person Zoe meets as her problem is revealed and she needs help to protect herself and to discover who is the kingpin in the deaths and payoffs of prominent people in the political and mob- connected drug trade. Being a cop, Zoe is well trained and capable of defending herself, if she only knew who exactly her foes were. Braxton takes on Zoe's protection by taking her to Verge and keeping her safe and isolated there while their investigation continues. Brax uses his Dom skills to help Zoe let go of her stress and give over to someone she can trust to catch her if she falls. The interaction of Zoe and Brax is tender, firm, hot and steamy and at times very confusing to Zoe. Brax is the perfect match for Zoe, he is as strong as her, yet he respects and admires that she can be just as strong as he is at times. Zoe is learning that being submissive is also being strong, but being submissive only to Brax can be very rewarding. For the first time in her life, Zoe has someone she can lean on and trust. There are many complications around the couple and Brax also has a child and ex to deal with, while trying to win over Zoe's trust and protecting her while they investigate the seedy underworld that threatens Zoe's and other's lives. You really must read Conviction for yourself, it is so interesting, exciting and steaming hot at times too, plus we get to see another side of Brax when he's with his little girl Devin. I loved this story so much and hope to see more of the NYC Doms at Club Verge!!!
Format: Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase This series just keeps getting better, each story can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading each book to familiarize yourself with the characters and their quirks.I was drawn to the characters as they both battle with their past demons. The writing is stylish, sophisticated, and compelling, which leaves you with an overwhelming sense of anticipation.Braxton Cannon was captivated by Zoe Mackay when he spotted her on the dance floor at his friends wedding reception. They share a night of passion but she did not contact him again the next day as he had asked her to do.Imagine their surprise when Zoe turns out to be Brax's first job as an private investigator.Zoe learnt that her ex-cop boyfriend was involved in some heavy duty crimes, including murder.Brax overwhelming sense to protect Zoe,sees him move her into his private room at Club Verge.Zoe is used to being in control, she is feisty, independent with a tough exterior.Zoe has trust issues due to neglect and abuse as a child in foster care, her past is why she chose to become a cop herself.Zoe relinquishes control in small doses with Brax,he can see the glimpses of the soft, beautiful woman as she hides behind a mask of insecurity, the vulnerable side that yearns for protection.Brax encourages Zoe to fight for her submission, earn it and gain the trust and respect she deserves.Accepting her flaws and imperfections, made fighting her demons possibly and made her whole again.I loved the journey that Zoe found herself on as she learnt to submit to Brax,it was hot as hell.Zoe was feisty, spirited, independent while Brax understood her need to slowly grow and accept her submission and gain her freedom.Brax is a Dominant man who has a fondness for spanking and bondage. He was charismatic, strong and made me weak at the knees. This book is spine tingling good, leaving the readers feeling completely satisfied as they peel back the layers that made up Brax and Zoe's budding relationship. DONNA L
Braxton and Zoe meet at the wedding reception for their mutual friends, Bea and Zach. Their instant chemistry leads to a scintillating one-night-stand, but after parting in the morning they almost immediately meet again as Zoe seeks help from the private investigation firm that Brax just started working for.
Zoe is a capable police officer, more than ready to protect herself and rush headlong into the investigation. Brax just wants to keep her safe while they figure out what’s going on, and he’s increasingly frustrated by Zoe’s defiant, willful disregard for her own safety.
This conflict between the two leads to some steamy encounters that unearth a hidden desire in Zoe to be dominated and disciplined, even while she steadfastly refuses to become a submissive. Brax doesn’t want a traditional sub, preferring instead the feisty spitfire who makes him work for everything he takes. Their relationship is all about finding the perfect power exchange that will work for them both in and out of the bedroom.
It’s an action-packed adventure as Brax and Zoe stay one step ahead of the villains while gathering enough evidence to bring them all to justice. Throughout it all, they explore their intense emotional connection and learn to trust each other and work toward a common goal.
I absolutely loved these characters. Braxton is a growly, bossy Dom but he is not the least bit threatened by a strong-minded female. Zoe has endured so much trauma in her childhood, it’s easy to see why she needs to be independent, yet at the same time she craves the protection and shelter that she finds in submitting to Brax. It’s a perfect romance with brilliantly-written characters, and it was a non-stop read for me. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I read this book as part of an arc program. This is the third book in the NYC Doms series and features the story of Brax and Zoe. Brax saw Zoe dancing at the wedding reception for Zach and Beatrice. When Brax showed interest in Zoe, he was warned she was not the woman for him. He was told she had a lot of baggage and was not in the lifestyle. Brax was a dungeon master at the BDSM club Verge and a single father. Zoe was a police officer who worked with Zach and when Brax asked her to dance, she agreed. When Brax asked if she wanted to leave with him, she agreed, but Beatrice tried to warn her not to go with him. Brax took Zoe to Verge for the night in his private room and she thought it would be a one night stand. The next day, Zoe rushed out for a meeting and Brax had to go to his new job working for a PI. When Brax went to interview the new client, he was shocked to see Zoe. Zoe had information about corrupt police officers who were involved in a murder and Brax wanted to protect her. When her apartment was broken into, Brax convinced Zoe to hide at Verge where the security was better. Brax investigated the corruption with Zach, but Zoe wanted to help. Brax wanted Zoe to be his and to follow his rules, but Zoe was too stubborn. Brax took great pleasure in punishing Zoe and she didn't realize how much she would like it. Brax thought he wanted Zoe to be his forever, but she was still thinking it was a fling. The more danger that came their way, the stronger Brax need to protect Zoe became. I love this series about strong alpha males and the women who submit to them. I love how Zoe still was strong and could submit to Brax to show her feelings for him. The both had a lot of issues with the past but together they help each other. Another great one.

Conviction NYC Doms, Book 3 By: Jane Henry Narrated by: Gunnar Qualen, Jenna St. Claire
This is the third book in Jane Henry’s “NYC Doms” series and it is just as great as the other books in the series. I love that each book in this series is unique to it’s characters and has its own vibe and air about it. “Conviction” is Braxton Cannon and Zoe MacKay’s story, Braxton is a Dom and a member of Club Verge. Zoe Mackay catches his eye while and he was instantly attracted to her. He is not your usual Dom and she is not your usual submissive but they do manage to have a steamy one night stand. But it does not end there, circumstances bring them together again and when he finds out she is in trouble and the trouble is deep he can not help but help her. I loved how everything plays out in this book, there is never a dull moment with plenty of drama, angst, mystery, twists and turns, thrilling suspense and the start of a meaningful relationship with some hot loving. Jane Henry, thank you for another amazing book and emotional rollercoaster ride.
I listened to the Audible edition, Gunnar Qualen and Jenna St. Claire are awesome narrators and voice artists. They do a great job at portraying the characters, bringing them to life giving each their own voice and personality. They set the perfect tone for the story and you could hear how much heart they put into their work as they capture and project the characters emotions into their performance. They are are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen🎧
Conviction is the third book in the NYC Doms series, but stands alone within the series. Zoe is a cop who knows something she shouldn’t about a murder, but doesn’t feel safe turning to another cop. Instead, she turns to a PI, not expecting to find her one night stand. Brax loves control in all aspects of his life, especially during intimate scenes, and knows in his heart that he must protect Zoe at all cost. But while he craves submission, Zoe is not submissive, and their wills clash as they get closer to figuring everything out. Zoe feels safe with Brax in ways she’s never imagined and she slowly opens up to him, but when it matters most, will they be able to save each other and fight for each other?
What. A. Book!! Zoe is absolutely fabulous and I might have a tiny crush on her. She has a backbone of steal with a crummy past, but her protective instincts run a mile wide and I love that you need to get past her hard shell to find her soft heart. Brax is so perfect for her because he’s not intimidated by her strength, but compliments it with his own. He doesn’t bow down to her, but still wants to cherish her. I loved their banter, their sarcasm, and their snark, but I also loved some of their more tender moments, too! The story immediately had me hooked and I don’t think I looked away from the book until maybe chapter six when I realized how long I had been sitting there reading! I loved the ending, too, and as much as I’d like to keep gushing, I don’t want to give anything away! This was an amazing book, and a fantastic addition to a series that I’ve loved reading!
I love all of Jane Henry's characters and books, so whenever a new one comes out, I have to hop right to it and read it. I always fall in love with all her characters, but Zoe, in this one? I think that Zoe is my favorite character. She's feisty, she's mouthy, she's uber-independent, she's so not submissive, and she's just wonderful. There really isn't anything about Zoe I don't love.
At the wedding reception of her friend and partner Zack and his wife Bea, Zoe gets a wee bit tipsy and starts dancing with Brax. Ignoring Bea's warning to stay away from him, she decides that she's going to leave with him. Instead of taking her home, Brax takes her to Verge, the BDSM club where he's the dungeon monitor, and they have their wicked way with each other.
Zoe figures that it's nothing but a one night stand, but it turns out that there is so much more going on.
There is a lot of spanking and domination going on in here, but there's so much more. Zoe isn't a sub and trying to figure out what's going on is really hard for her because she just doesn't have the same point of reference. Brax is a good man, if a little bit of a butthead on occasion. It's obvious that he cares a lot about what he does, no matter what he's doing. He takes a lot of pride in doing the job right and caring for the people in need of it. I really love his character, and I think he works well with Zoe. I don't think that any of the other guys we've seen so far in this series would've worked half as well.
No one writes better romantic suspense with a touch of darkness than Jane Henry. The NYC Doms series is sizzling with alpha males and danger, and each story just gets better. This is the third in the series, and though it can stand alone, I love listening to a series in order. Brax and Zoe meet on the dance floor, and with the explosive chemistry they have a night of incredible passion. Brax is taken with her and when she shows up at his place of business to hire a private investigator, his feelings of protectiveness are kicked into high gear. Not only is he attracted to her, but he will not let any danger come to this woman. And our story goes from there into hot romance with thrilling scenes and intense and menacing threats that just ramp up the excitement. I love the characters Henry writes. Brax is incredibly dominant. He knows what he wants, and it's Zoe. Problem is, Zoe is no submissive. Or is she? These two are combustible, and the story intriguing. Keep them coming Jane, you have a true fan ready for more!
Narrated by Gunnar Qualen and Jenna St Claire, it's brought to life as a movie in my mind. With GQ/s smooth, sexy baritone, the alpha voice is captivating, and pulled me in from the very start. Then add St Claire's spunky, aggressively independent voice, and we have not only a super fiery couple, but one that exudes chemistry. They bring it with each scene and let us live the danger and the passion. An amazing performance you will not want to miss.
Once again Jane has hit this one out of the park with Conviction, book three in the NYC Dom's series. This is a standalone read but as with all of Jane's books, it would be a shame not to have read Deliverance and Safeguarding, the previous two books as a few familiar faces do pop up and it's nice to know how they are all linked. That being said, Brax and Zoe's story is great and certainly can be enjoyed without having read the previous two in the series.
Brax is a sexy, alpha male who unexpectedly falls for the tough, fierce and independent Zoe when she reaches out for help. Together they form an unlikely bond and neither is sure after the dust settles, what this will mean for them personally. Zoe needs to learn to trust, while Brax remains dependable and shows her what it is like to be truly strong and independent as his submissive.
I loved these two and my only gripe is that I want to see more of them - but I'm hoping as the next in the series is released, we will glimpse how these two continue their journey, as we have with the other couples in this series!
Another five star book for me - bring on the next Jane!
Jane Henry delivers once again. NYC Doms is one series not to miss. Although they can be stand alones, it is fun to read them in order. Conviction has a little bit of everything in it. Suspense, romance, bad guys, great guys, spankings, friendship and hot steamy scenes fill the pages. I could not put it down. This story is intense both with romance and suspense. Be prepared to get lost in the world of Conviction.
Braxton sees Zoe on the dance floor and becomes obsessed with her. When he runs into her again at thr PI office, things get sticky. Braxton must protect her and find out who is after her. Zoe is a cop and feels ahe can protect herself. Zoe begins to enjoy the feeling of safety when Braxton is around but she still gives him attitude to let him know she is a big girl. Braxton takes her over his knee when she became too sassy for her own good and Zoe enjoyed it. She started to seek out more. The people who are after Zoe are so close to her, that she must work with Braxton to bring justice to them, or risk losing everything.
I get this author wants to create strong women...but why do they need to be bitchy and stupid...just saying. For a cop, she was an idiot. She says she can take any man twice her size with her training...lol...not even 5 mins later said man is pinning her to the floor as she thinks, "but even training doesn't move a mountain off your chest"...like I said, idiot.
I was so annoyed with her I started skimming over her POV by page 40 or so. So a automatic 1 star deduction for not keeping your reader engaged. Her holier than thou attitude gold old real quick and I'm only at 78...sigh. this is a book less than 200 pages and I cant wait for it to be over.
I do love Brax's character as he was more level headed and she was just a hot headed mess. He kept the story going for me. He had so much patience. I would have decked her when the were at her apartment and ran from her and leave it at a one night stand.
Having said that...the chemistry between the two is electrifying and jumps off the page.
Conviction by Jane Henry is an awesome read. This book is the third book in the NYC Doms series. It is the story of Brax and Zoe. Zoe is a police officer who has stumbled across some illegal business dealing with the NYPD. Brax is a Dungeon Master at Club Verge and is about to start a new job at a private investigation firm. Zoe and Brax meet at the wedding reception of Zack and Bea. There is an immediate connection between them but neither one of them wants a relationship. Both of them have issues from their past that keep them from committing. They have a one night stand but when Zoe is in need of help Brax jumps in. Will they solve the crimes that are happening within the NYPD? Will they overcome their pasts to get their HEA? You will need to read the book to get the answer to these questions. I definitely recommend this book and I cannot wait for the next book by Jane Henry.
This was another good read in the series with some twists and turns to keep the reader wondering what was going to happen next.
I liked Braxton and he was a tough alpha guy for sure. He wanted to protect Zoe from the moment he met her, especially when it became clear that her life was in danger.
Zoe was a great character and I loved how she was feisty and independent and hated having to rely on someone else to take care of her. I loved her innocence when she was at Verge and looking at the various rooms. I think as certain things kept happening she really realized how much danger she was in.
There was definitely lots of chemistry between Zoe and Braxton and I liked how she gradually began to trust him more and allowed him that control over her.
I liked how the pieces of the puzzle came out with help from others and they figured out who was working for the bad guys. It isn't over yet so I am curious to see where the series goes!
This is the third book in the NYC doms series and it is Zoe and Braxton’s story. Zoe is a police officer so honestly I didn’t think I would like her as much as the previous two heroines. They are submissive to the alpha males. I didn’t think she could be submissive and she wasn’t . She chose to be when she wanted to be but was very willful at other times. I actually think I liked this book even better than the previous two especially when they were angry and in a power struggle. They were both very passionate and a little volatile. The only thing I didn’t like is that I needed more at the end. I didn’t want to let these couples go. This writer has managed to make BDSM romantic and normalized it to the point that I didn’t really think any of these couples were weird or different. I guess what I am trying to say is that her stories actually have substance and it’s not only about sex . I will definitely explore her other books!
I really enjoy reading these books, Jane Henry really does excell in her stories with the Doms that make any readers toes curl with the beaufiful scenes and submission that these ladies give to the right man. And in this case Brax has met Zoe at Zack and Beas reception, for Brax he likkes Zoe right away and even though Zoe is a little drunk she really cant resist him that night either. But in the light of the next morning when they both go their own ways, they met again at Braxs new place of employment, he has a new job of private investigator. Zoe is the client in trouble, but it turns out to be much bigger than she expected especially when people are trying to kill her. And Brax is protecting her, between her submission and his protection it takes yhem both to trust each other to get the job done.
Jane Henry’s “Conviction” is book 2 in the new NYC Doms series and we get to see Brax go toe-to-balls with Zoe, a NYPD officer. Brax is a member of Verge, the newest bondage club in NYC, and Zoe is anything but submissive. Anything.
Likes: I really enjoyed the story’s opening as we see a much more relaxed and fun Zoe and the sudden chemistry between her and Brax sets the tone for this story. Their chemistry is fantastic, as is the romance, and I really enjoyed the mystery element, which extended quite high up the ladder. Dislikes: While I’m a huge fan of strong female characters, Zoe’s defensiveness was sometimes a struggle to read. However, I do confess to enjoying how melty she got after Brax too her in hand. Mmmmm…yum.
This is an enjoyable series and while each story functions as a standalone, this one more than story 2, it doesn’t hurt to start with book 1.
