Excellent for beginning knitters

I have taught my students to knit. I wish I would have had this book to share with them. The beginning of this book is down to earth, witty, and spot on with advice. The various techniques needed to learn are simply explained, Well illustrated, and easily understandable. The only complaint I had would be The missing instructions for the first scarf. I highly recommend this book for beginning knitters.

Nice book

The illustrations were clear, the projects were very likeable. They made you want to jump right in with your knitting needles. This is a totally worth while book. Well written too!

Beginning knitting

The pattern are not that clear. Just write out the pattern, that would be better. Then it would be easier to understand

When a pattern spanks you sometimes you just need to go back to something basic and simple for awhile. I think I am an intermediate knitter and I've never found a mistake in my tried and true knitting reference from 1975 but this time I did. Just read the basics, thought about breaking the pattern down... But it was still wrong. I enjoyed this book as a different look back to the basics.

This would be a good book for a beginner. Don't expect a lot of stitches to choose from. After a frustrating blunder it was a good read to calm down and start over with a different pattern.
Basic books are good to have on hand.
