THAT ENDING, Y'ALL!!! Kay, I need book three, like now.

I didn't think it was possible to fall even more in love with Peter and Katy than I already was. Well, Mrs. Fichter proved me wrong. Not only did we see them grow so much more together as a couple, but they also continued to grow as individuals. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Brittany Fichter's characters are my favorite! They are models that we can look up to and fawn over, cry with and beat over the head when they're being stupid. They are real. They aren't fluffy or shallow, one-dimensional or cliche. These characters deal with real struggles and they make real mistakes. They're characters to root for whole-heartedly. And she doesn't just stop with the MCs. Oh no, every single one of those buggers is round, fleshed out, and three dimensional! It's fascinating and I'm giddy just thinking about it! The Firin, Nikkie, Jagan, Donella, and I loved the other rhins and kings! I want to know more about these new characters we have!! Aisling was one of my favorites. First of all, she was simply enchanting, from the way she looked to her personality. Her story was beautiful and her family made me smile. Oh, and Liam. My word, Liam had me trailing after him like a puppy. I adored his character. The villain in this story stole my breath! I mean, seriously! I want to cry and thrash and scream! Brittany Fichter, you've torn my heart out with your positively stunning characters!!

The world expanded just as I'd hoped it would, and still managed to leave just enough mystery to string me along for book three. I absolutely loved seeing the King's Isle and the seasons and the way Fichter developed the magic. This story held more tradition and rituals that the people were accustomed to. The procedures they'd done for hundreds of years that Katy and Peter were completely oblivious to often confused our MCs. I enjoyed their struggle to justify the rules they were forced to acknowledge. In the final installment, I hope we can see more of the other isles and also even more history. Though Fichter did dig into the allegorical development more, which I loved, I still want to know more history! The traditions of this land were supposedly steeped in its history and Fichter fed me just enough to make me hungry for more! I have the same questions Katy does about the tree and the High King and his family, his reign, etc. I'm very, very pleased with the way the setting and world building developed and very excited to see it continue to do so in the final book.

The plot for this book was so much fun! I think part of that had to do with the new setting, but I liked seeing Peter and Katy operate on their own again as well as how they fought their own internal (and some external!) battles. Again, this goes back to my love of proper development in characters, setting, and plot, etc. But it was just...fun. I can't really think of a better way to describe it. There was some mystery and intrigue, threads sewn into the story that we will find the end of in book three. There were sweet moments to relish, and tense moments that made your heart pause. I was very intrigued by the tree and the crowns in it. The political set up definitely drew me in. That whole operation of the chancels was interesting to me. The tension between the fairies and the humans was one of the strongest plot drivers here. That definitely lent to explosive plot points, and the tension piqued my curiosity. I want to know how that is resolved too. I think because of the prior book, the length of this one didn't even come to mind. With the last one, I was surprised to learn it was like 500ish pages, but with this one, I was prepared and so I simply enjoyed every beautiful page of it. The story was well-paced. The end was the only bit that felt slightly rushed/abrupt, but only very slightly. Oh! Also! Sidenote: I loved how the title came into play! That was so clever and beautifully tied in!

Okay, now for the writing itself. I like Mrs. Fichter's style. I like how she strings her stories together and she's excellent with development. I saw fewer repetitions than I did in book one, which pleased me. There was more variety in her descriptions and sentence structures than last time. (There was one point with some gnats that I felt was a little confusing and could have used a little more physical description to help a reader out; however, that was a minor issue for me.) I didn't find any plot holes, but I did have a question about why Peter felt he couldn't fulfill both of his promises at once. (I can guess, but it was never stated and, even so, I felt the guess to be a little weak, so I'm not sure...) As for typos and such, there were many skipped words and duplicated words. There were very few actual grammatical errors; it was all just minor editing errors. Poor Mrs. Fichter has put her heart and soul into this book, and it turns out she got kinda jipped by her proofreaders (I beg you! Let me proofread! I will SO do a great job!!! *shameless begging* I love proofreading and I am wholeheartedly devoted to your work!). For the first time that I can ever recall, I was not frustrated and annoyed by the errors. I kind of laughed at some of them. (My favorite was "Flames of tongue burned..." XD) Perhaps it's because I know how hard the author worked, but the errors didn't bug me as much as they normally would have. Plus, I know she's doing her best to get them out and the copies updated for her readers. Because I expect she'll remedy the situation as quickly as possible and because she has worked so diligently to make this the best book she could, I could not deny her that fifth star. This book truly deserved every bit of the five stars.

There is some very mild violence, no foul language, and a sweet, clean romance. There was a little bit of reference to childbearing, but nothing at all detailed. Again, I'd feel very comfortable giving this to a young teen.

Note: Although I did receive an advanced copy from the very generous author, the above review is completely voluntary and in no way affected by her generosity. I'd have bought the book the day it came out and still intend to purchase a paperback copy myself.

Aaahhh, I loved this book so much!! I enjoyed the 1st book in this trilogy SO much that I didn't think it was possible for the 2nd book to be better, but it was!! I'm not exaggerating when I say I was completely riveted by this book! I was seriously losing sleep every night because I stayed up for hours reading this book because I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN! This was an excellent continuation of the beautiful story of Peter and Katy. I never knew I could root so hard for 2 fictional characters as I did for them. Brittany's writing is so emotionally real and raw that I found myself connecting with and relating to these 2 characters so much throughout the book. This 2nd book in the Autumn Fairy Trilogy is packed full of suspenseful, intense action that I found myself literally holding my breath as I read many parts! This is an incredible story of unimaginable joy and happiness, heart-wrenching sorrow, self-sacrificial love, unyielding loyalty, and the sometimes painful testing of trust and faith in a Higher Being. Read this book! Read this trilogy! I have no doubt you'll LOVE it as much as I do!

I received an ARC of this book, and I am voluntarily posting my review.

I love all of Brittany Fichter's books, but this is probably my favorite one so far! This is a big deal because usually the second book in a trilogy is not my favorite, usually due to pacing. This story has good pacing, a fascinating setting, compelling characters, and plenty of intrigue. I seriously can't wait until the next book!

The Autumn Fairy of Ages is the sequel to The Autumn Fairy by Brittany Fichter. It's pretty similar to the first book aside from a new setting. Where The Autumn Fairy took place in the human world where Katy was raised and fell in love with her childhood friend, Peter, The Autumn Fairy of Ages takes place in the enchanted world of the fae where Katy hopes to find her new home. I appreciated that the book contained a brief in-universe explanation of why the spelling of the word "faeries" was changed to "fairies" in most contemporary prose even though it was derived from the word "fae" because "humans have trouble pronouncing it." For the most part, I would say that anyone who enjoyed the first book will probably enjoy this one as well. It introduced a lot of new characters, but not a whole lot has changed for the ones we know. Katy and Peter are still fighting against societal norms to prove their love for each other, and Katy still feels like an outcast because of the unusual circumstances of her birth.

One thing I've noticed about Brittany Fichter's writing is that she creates complex new worlds full of unique customs and language without ever explaining any of them to the reader. I was hoping that a book about a new world that was so foreign to both of the main characters would contain more lessons about how fae culture works, but instead, Katy and Peter struggled just as much to understand all of it as I did and even broke several rules without even realizing it. There were certain things that I never quite understood about Peter's role in the fae realm. He was described as a "rhin," which is apparently a king, and was supposed to have a seat on the council with several other rhins and kneel before a magical tree that would help the fae maintain their islands even though the rhins were human Conversely, I completely understood Katy's role among the fae as the first Autumn fairy in centuries because they needed fairies from all four seasons to complete their rituals and save their land. When Katy mentioned that she wanted to do a good job to make Peter look good, the logistics became kind of muddled. Even some of the other fairies admitted that the council didn't care at all about Peter and only wanted Katy for her unique powers.

For the most part, Katy and Peter's relationship stayed as strong as ever after the events of the first book, but they were still tested. The only thing that even came close to pulling them apart was the question of whether or not they would be able to procreate due to one of them being a fairy. I personally could not relate to this struggle because I don't think the ability to bear children should affect who can fall in love with each other, but I understand that Brittany Fichter is religious and incorporates that into her writing, so it didn't come as too much of a surprise that it would be a challenge for the main characters. I also understood why the fairy council was against their marriage in favor of the potential of creating more Autumn fairies, but I didn't think that it should have made Katy and Peter doubt their love for each other. Peter did go overboard with his affections a few times at the beginning of the book by trying to please Katy at the expense of their good image for the council, but that was only a testament to how much more he valued love over power even though it made him seem less than worthy of his role.

My favorite aspect of The Autumn Fairy of Ages was the setting. Katy and Peter were both given beautiful rooms that magically incorporated elements of nature such as flowers, trees, sand, waterfalls, and the ocean. The descriptions reminded me of something straight out of one of the Barbie movies. Fairy fashion also matched that of what we would traditionally imagine for fairy clothing, such as short skirts made of petals or tree bark, leafy corsets, and gowns covered in blossoms. I wish the book had more descriptions of the setting because I love dreaming about other worlds. The surprise ending also impressed me. I can't believe I never saw it coming. It made sense to end with something shocking because the series is supposed to be a trilogy, so it was necessary to build up tot eh final book. Of all the characters who could have been hiding a secret, this one was the most likely. It was brilliantly developed throughout the novel so the reader would gasp when they reached the ending and wonder why they didn't realize it sooner.

The Autumn Fairy of Ages is a worthy sequel to The Autumn Fairy. It's an obvious next step for Katy's journey. Since we already explored Katy's experience in the human world, it would only make sense that we should be able to see how she would fare in the fairy world that she was born into as well. Her relationship with Peter was texted again and still remained strong. Though I enjoyed the descriptions of fae culture, there were certain aspects that I wished the author had elaborated on. It was difficult to just jump into a new world without knowing anything. My pre-order of the book was filled with typographical errors, but the author sent me a proofread copy free of charge when she realized that her editor had jumped the gun. Overall, I would say that anyone who enjoyed The Autumn Fairy would enjoy reading about the next part of Katy's journey just as much.

It was wonderful... It was perfect in every sense of the way... Any one who likes fairy tales and not reading this series are really missing on something special.

The book is a continuation of Peter and Katy's story from where The Autumn Fairy ended. Peter and Katy go onto journey to the King's Isle to find answers about their powers and who they really are. I loved the book because this time it was also about development of Peter's character and mysterious powers as well and not just about Autumn Fairy's powers. Katy finally gets to be with other fairies like her and learn how to use her powers in a constructive way rather than wholly destructive as she was prone to believing. Peter on the other hand learns the history of other islands all the while navigating the political arena of Fae and human and at the same time doing his best to protect Katy. I loved the whole concept of how Brittany described King's Isle, exactly like picture perfect fairy land but so much more creative and beautiful then my imagination. All of the new characters fae and human alike were so perfectly developed with their own stories that it almost felt real reading them....

Now then the book made me go through quite a bit of emotions other than happiness... Literally, halfway through the book i was so sorrowful for the fight, it was like that feeling you get when your best friend fights with their partner and you are so anguished seeing them unhappy. I only felt relieved once I realized that regardless of all the trials and tribulations one thing was constant their undying love for each other and willingness to go to any length to protect the other and hence nothing and no one could separate them. All the pieces of story finally coming to rest together like falling autumn fairy leaves; and then OH MY GOD that explosive ending. I never expected it never in a million years for it to end that way... Now I can't wait for the next book to finally see what and why everything happened.

(I received a free ARC copy in return for an honest review.)

P.S. There were alot of great passages in the story I loved so much but the following bit really struck a chord in my heart... Its so beautifully written...

I love Brittany Fichter, but I struggled with this book. It is pretty much about what the synopsis says; Katy and Peter go to the King's Isle to get permission to marry, kneel at the Tree of Diadems, and to rejoin the counsel. We get to see more cute moments with Katy and Peter (and learn more about faeries, which is the absolute best part! Wings! Magic! Dresses! Coolness!), but other stuff fell flat.
For one, I had a hard time keeping up with the plot. Supposedly, things were really bad, but other than a few examples (which were definitely not in the good category), they just SAID it was super bad. I had no clue who was the real instigator really until the end, and even then it was confusing on how the counsel worked together.
Not to mention, Peter just...annoyed me. Which is sad, because he's wonderful, but Katy mentioned OVER AND OVER how lovely he was, while all I could see was him rebelling and being a surly little teenager because E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G is so different! I appreciated how much he loved Katy, but his character took a turn for the worst.
I will say, though, that Atharo played a bigger role in this book. I will say, though, that mentioning how Peter "has got to keep his promises" made no sense to me. Do promises bind you tightly into the supernatural world, and if you break it you're punished? I honestly have no clue and it bugged me.
Katy was great and I'm mad that people tried to use her BECAUSE SHE IS A SUNSHINE CINNAMON ROLL WHO DESERVES LOVE! And I will shout that from the rooftops. Other than that, though, I have had issues with this book, although I'm still gonna keep reading. Don't let me down, Katy and Peter.

An excellent sequel to Autumn Fairy. Katy and Peter are still grappling with their new relationship, positions, powers, marks, wings, you name it. And then suddenly their exciting trip to the central isle for this summit just throws a million more things at them. And it's far from the fun, everyone loves you, learn about all these new things in an encouraging way that Katy at least hopes for.

There's an entire world out there(4 other islands + the central isle) that has a history of issues. Politics, a ton of new people, and tons of rules. It seems like Peter and Katy can't even breathe without finding out that they just sucked up someone's sacred air and have now committed a major faux pas.

Between politics and people they don't know the history of to begin to understand, friends who may not be friends, enemies who may not be enemies, I felt a lot like Katy and Peter. I had no idea who was good and who was bad and if eating more than two tomato slices on your sandwich was enough to land them in the brig.

I loved that Katy and Peter's relationship stayed so strong throughout the story. They had one fight and really with all of the crap going on yeah, that would happen. Besides the life changing, heart breaking news that prompted the fight you almost a solid month of pent up emotions that had to be raging. So much anxiety and stress and being unable to just relax. It had to come out at some point and sadly sometimes it's just safer to blow up at someone who loves you because you know they love you. They're safe.

From the romance to the plot, this was a really strong middle book. No middle book sag going on here. This managed to be just as good, if not a smidge better than the first book.

I'll be honest, the first half of this book was a bit difficult to get through. Peter kept doing completely idiotic things and dragging Katy into them and it seemed like they didn't care at all about the summit or world peace or their dying crops or anything. While I do love them together, they also felt a bit tooo attached, like a week apart was going to be the end of the world. Not only that, but it had been awhile since I read the first book, and there wasn't ever really a review of it built in so I felt a bit like a floundering fish for the first chapter or so until I went back and reread a bit of the ending of the last book (I didn't have time to reread it in its entirety). I was still rather confused and lost, but the more I read, the more it came back to me.

And that positive note brings me to the last half of the book, which was fantastic. Everything that I had lamented before got pulled together to make sense, and I found myself truly enjoying the book. The ending is what earned it 5 stars, and I think if I were to reread the book knowing all that happened I might feel a bit more gracious towards the beginning.

I received a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

I had some trouble getting into this story for some reason that I really can't pin point; but I had insomnia last night and finished it off in one sitting.

Peter and Katy continue their journey to discovering who they are and what exactly their powers are. They go to The King's Island and there find the trouble that Peter expected all along. Katy is a bit naive about it all, but then she is being hood-winked by people who she has wanted to get to know her whole life, and she has a trusting nature. Peter is suspicious from the start.

The ending is a shocker in more ways than one.

This is a clean read although the H word is used to describe something. I don't like when authors use the word to describe a situation that isn't "hellish" - a situations like Armageddon happening, or your skin being flayed from your body, or some horribly wicked environment where there's no light to be found - that's hell! There was no situation Peter found himself in that was hellish.

This book takes place a few months after book 1 ends.
Katy and Peter are engaged and plan to visit the King's Isle at the end of book 1.
Now, they are travelling to the King's Isle. However, not everything is as it seems. This will test our lovebirds in more than just the fae-human relationship they share. Something is amiss and Peter questions everything, while Katy goes along with those of her own kind. She learns more about herself and that was great to read; however, in order to the be the savior Donella desires, Katy has to let Peter go. No fae and human have ever been able to have offspring to their knowledge. I still don't "feel" the chemistry between these two. But it hardly matters at this point.
There are several climatic parts in the book. But the biggest plot twist happens in the epilogue! Didn't see it coming and honestly, I'm curious now more than ever what happens next.
Lots of action, some twists, a couple of profanities, no gore.
On to the next!

I love this book! It is a sequel to The Autumn Fairy, you will want to read that first or you wont know what's going on. Plus it has a really good backstory to Katy and Peter's love story. This book starts where the first one ended with Katy and Peter going to the King's Isle to reunite with the Isles and the inhabitants after being apart for 400 years. Katy is able to learn from the fairies and explore the Island which is fun to read about. Peter stays with the other Kings and the council and there is some conflict there. The book is fun full of imagery and wonderful scenes that make me feel like I am there. There is magic, adventure, intrigue, twists and turns, mystery, and sweet clean romance. I couldn't put this book down, I love books that can draw me into it's world and let me escape for a little bit, and this book is one that doesn't disappoint!

Fichter’s storytelling feels more like reality than fiction. In this sequel, Katy and Peter must travel to the First Isle and gain approval to be married. As one would expect from this story there are many ups and downs in their quest to be together. We meet several new creatures and unlike most books where too many are introduced and take away from the story, these actually enhanced it. I love how the reader doesn’t even know all of the different rules or laws so we learn them as Katy and Peter do. Sometimes, it seems, they learn too late, but this is how real life is. You learn from your mistakes. Everything is not sugar coated in life nor in this book. That’s what I love about Fichter. While she creates a fantasy world, she doesn’t make it so far fetched that we can’t imagine what it would be like if this world actually existed.

Our couple travels to the center island to attend the annual meetings between the rulers of men and fairies where they soon figure out that not all is perfect in the other kingdoms either. Humans and fairies have their differences and those can lead to sparks flying. Trying to navigate inter-species politics and figuring out the extents of their own powers is quite the task, all the while feeling as if they're being drawn apart.

In this book we get to know our two main characters even better while they each face their challenges. The story manages to be intriguing enough to keep the readers mind captivated until all to suddenly you've finished the book.

Luckily there is still one more to go in this trilogy, but I find myself dreading finishing it and having to leave this world behind. I'll most definitely be re-reading it all at some point.

Well, the small world of the first book certainly expanded quite a lot, and I loved it! Brittany has created an amazing world, with a colorful cast of characters. Katy and Peter seem to have figured themselves out, for the most part, but finding their new place in a much greater world than the one they knew. And since they’re new, they certainly don’t fit in, and chaos and hilarity ensues, along with a darker side of the world. Far more questions arrive, along with some surprising answers, but even with those answers come even more mysteries waiting to be discovered. It’s an awesome continuation of this wonderful fantasy series, and a perfect set up for book 3.

A great middle book with more questions being answered only for it to end with more questions. The twists in this series just keep on going. I really enjoyed getting to see the fairy culture in this book. The imagination of their land and powers was so complete. Ugh..wouldn’t it be so neat to live on an island that each season has its own territory? Katie gets to know herself more and where she comes from. Peter’s point of view is much appreciated as well. His character is so fierce, but gentle. I think he is wonderful. The new characters in this book are memorable, and I can’t wait to read the conclusion.

Story continues. Katy and Peter want to get their blessings for marriage in King's Isle. The pace is fast and a lot of things happens at once - so read concentrate as this read will ake you of a fast ride with events and also secrets.
There are a lot of things that were unknown at the beginning but after some time everything started coming into the right places. Characters were great in this YA retelling. For sure I will be waiting for book 3 on my tiptoes and story is really something that I want to know till the end!

(I read an ARC in exchange for an honest review) The sequel to The Autumn Fairy is here! Katy and Peter back for more adventures this time on the King’s Isle to meet people from the other isles and get their marriage blessed by the chancels. All is not what it seems when Katy and Peter find a silent war happening... Leading them to discover their true destiny!!! I couldn’t put The Autumn Fairy of Ages down once I started it because it was so intriguing. The beginning was a bit slow and took a few chapters to get into, but overall a well written and enjoyable book.

Once again, Katy and Peter are struggling to stay together. The battles they face are both internal and external, stretching their faith and their love for each other.
I fell in love with the First Isle and some of the new characters we meet there, some I'd like to give a big hug to, others I'd like to punch in the face.
Love the twists and turns throughout the story, keeping me turning the pages instead of finishing the laundry...oops, sorry hun.
Another clean, finish-it-in-one-sitting book. Thanks Brittany!

*I read an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book in exchange for a review*

I enjoyed this sequel as much as the first! It was nice to see the continued development of both Peter and Katy! I feel like we got more of Peter's POV in this book which I really enjoyed! I can't wait to find out more about Aisling.

I really love Brittany's writing style and how she includes subtle Christian messages that reflect real everyday struggles.

My only complaint is that Lady Murin was absent. Hopefully, she'll be in the next book!

Should have read this sooner!

Once again, Brittany does some astounding world building. Leaving behind everything they know Katy and Peter go to seek help and answers from the fae and humans of the other isles. They find contention, fear mongering, and conspiracies, and have to find out just who they have become. Peter fears his new powers, and Katy needs to learn to trust and control hers.

As usual, the political intrigue and fight scenes are descriptive and realistic. I'm eagerly awaiting her next book!

Another excellent story by Fichter. The story was fast-paced, built on favorite characters from the first book, had some unexpected twists, and left me anxious for the third book. I would recommend this book anyone who enjoys clean fiction that involves some magic and romance too. Well done.

I found myself crying and laughing to this wonderful fairy tale! A sweet romantic tale of true love that overcomes all. I loved the first book a bit more but I love the author and how she made me feel for the characters. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Knocks it out of the park!

I’ve read a bunch by this author and this trilogy is my favorite! Really enjoyed it, and can’t wait for the next one! I love how it continues the story without just being a rehash of everything from the first book.

Exciting story continuing Katy and Peter ' s adventure

Travel to the King's isle. The chancel. The challenges . Danger of course as humans and fae clash. A 5 star review because of the story . Several typos though.

Great Read!

Thoroughly enjoyed this second book. Well, okay... Maybe I raged a bit because of certain fairies😆😅. Clean read, and a killer epilogue! I did NOT see that ending coming.
Super tired because I've stayed up too late reading, so I'll stop here.😂
