Miss 4 is autistic and the chapter books that she really likes, she REALLY likes. We have read the the Captain Underpants and Dog Man books many, many times over the last two years and we have now added the Bad Guys to the mix reading Books 1-8 several times through over the last month. It's an awesome series that it likely to be a hit with fans of Dav Pilkey (and his endorsement on the covers helped encourage me to buy them).
I love the personality contrasts between the characters - the endless optimism of Wolf, comedy from Piranha, master-of-ridiculous-disguises Shark, pragmatic Snake, and mad skillz from Legs. The first book is something of a standalone (and there's a slight difference in tone with Books 1 and 2 before the series veers away into pure fiction) but the rest have a definite on-going plot arc.
