Cold Case Love

Rate this book
She was the perfect verse to a beautiful love song… Puppy love is typically described as fondness that is a shallow romantic attachment with little depth, but when Dakoda has an intriguing encounter with Fame, she felt an inexplicable, pure adoration previously unknown to her. With his arrogant and impolite decorum, Fame repulsed Dakoda. As time progressed and temptation built, Dakoda relaxed her defenses against Fame’s compelling charms, allowing him into her world. Fate dealt them a cruel hand as Fame and Dakoda found themselves being separated. Devastated and saddened by this sudden development, Dakoda unwillingly attempted to move on with her life, away from the first guy she’d shared her heart with. Coping as best she could, she unwittingly found herself in a plight that threatened to do tremendous damage to her reputation. Dakoda felt lost until a weekend getaway whisked her away from her responsibilities and back into the arms of the one that got away. Aiming to start anew and reconnect, they encounter a hurdle that not only threatens their livelihood but their lives as well. It is then that Dakoda finds herself in a situation more dangerous than she’d ever experienced before.

Great read

I loved this read. Fame is officially BAE I loved him from his first line. I loved the fact that he NEVER switched up on Dakoda. They had to have had the worst luck ever when it came to their relationship. It’s like they were destined to be together but the universe kept seeing fit to tear them apart somehow. I wished we could’ve gotten more of Dakoda and Fame together but I’m satisfied with how things turned out. I loved Carti and I’m anxious to see how things with him and Bristol will play out. Overall this was a great read.

The title fits the story but that's where it ends

The title Cold Case Love for Dakoda and Faheem being away from each other for 4 years was understanding and relatable but the kidnapping for a whole 3 years was really unnecessary and it didn't fit into the story. I fell like that whole scene was pointless and not needed. For the book to have been long, I loved that but I would have felt better for it to have been shorter so it would have flowed better. Some things where just not needed. I don't see why after 4 years Mason had to be a factor if he didn't plan to cause drama or reoccur in the store after the author made his interests known. I feel Bristol and Carti, just took a hiatus in the story. Lucia was just aggy as fuck and glad she was a non factor after having the baby. But I feel her character didn't live up to the way the author, tried to portray her. She did all this extrainess while pregnant and even after having the baby. You mean to tell me after leaving the hospital she fell in the baby mama of the year role and didn't cause anymore shenanigans to be a family with Fame and baby Kadeem. I feel like this book started off with potential to be a great read but so many aspects made it fall short.
The kidnapping being the biggest one but not the only one... this is just my opinion.

...

So I loved like the first 70% of this book. The timeline and how their teenage lives. The blossoming of their relationship was dope. But did we seriously need that whole kidnapping?? That was such a waste and made it seem like you had to throw something in the book to date it out even further. Or that you just needs some unnecessary dramatics. Well you didnt need that. Taylor was a pointless character. I'm not sure what the point of her was. She was weird the whole time and then all of a sudden she's jealous of Dakota....weird but ok. Tawney was a trip loved her and the relationship between Famheem and Cartier. I could say a lot more but I leave it at this. Was a little disappointed

This could have been a five star read except for that ridiculous kidnapping. Taylor actually added some interest. I wish that she had a larger part. If she had been the kidnapper that would have made more sense to me. The constant description of eyes, orbs and irises were OVERKILL! Faheem read one book, 48 laws of power and now he’s somehow all knowing and the smartest person in the room. I didn’t buy that. I liked the love story, the rest was just filler and fluff. Tawney needs her own series. I loved her!

The story was juicy and it had a lot going on, yes there some things which were a bit off putting but I kept it moving also their live story was giving "weapons were forming against them" but they really made it through also side eye for some errors on Fame's part.

There are so many things I really like about this author. The main thin I like is the character development. Her characters all have very distinct personalities. Everyone in the story has there own voice that's very easy to discern.

This story was kind of similar to On the Run. You had the teenage love that ended suddenly after the loss of the girls virginity, the long separation and the reunion. Even with that the stories felt very different because of the characters. That kind of showed me that I don't need to wreck my brain trying to be original. Originality is overrated. If you can come up with an original idea, that's great, but there is nothing new under the sun. It's very likely that what you think is an original idea has already been done.

I loved Fame. I love rude guys. I don't fucking know why. And I loved how he loved her. He would joke and crack, but he made sure Dakoda always knew how he felt. He wasn't too proud. He was too swaggy to beg, so his natural persistence was what he used to wear Dakoda down, as if she could resist his ass.

I hated that Dakoda got kidnapped for such a stupid fucking reason. And I hated even more that he got Lucia pregnant. I understood how he ended up back fucking with her, and I know he slipped up on the condom when he was drunk, but that bitch did that shit on purpose. They had been fucking around for a while before Dakoda came back into his life. And when she did, Fame let Lucia know immediately that the person he was in love with was back and their shit was over. She accepted that too quick. But she ain't cause no problems until she reached out after Dakoda was kidnapped. She did the shit I resent females for doing, which is tying to MAKE a nigga love and want them, then when he don't act like you got lied to. He made it clear even before Dakoda that they weren't nothing other than what they were.

I loved how, even though it was hard, Dakoda got past the fact that he had another child. When she was talking to Camilla she said she and Fame had two kids. I know it's fucked up, but I don't think I could accept an outside child. Not even because of the child, but because of everything else that comes along with that. I wouldn't want to involve myself, and you really can't be married or in a solid relationship with a person and choose to eliminate yourself from certain aspects of their life. So it wouldn't work.

The way this story was built made it that more intriguing. The Intro, Verse, Chorus and Bridge. Each piece broke down the unique ties when love is found , when its lost and finds it's way back again. It's the perfect perception of the heart knowing exactly where it belongs. But at what cost, what lengths will you go. Will the past be an issue.

The stories setting takes you back to a time were puppy love was everything. Young love was test and Adult love was the Final. There are moments where you will laugh uncontrollably, where you will cringe, where you will cry, where you will feel so much anguish but then feel so much love. This story help me escape from my entire and it was so well worth it. I needed some therapy and a book break after this one. Just know that Fame's love is unparallele. The depths he went through for it speaks volumes. The Bridge to me was the biggest moment, it solidified the stories ending. This was the IT moment for me, still get goosebumps from reading it.

From all of the books I've read by Charae, this is my favorite from her.

Cold Case Love

This book was a very loving story about 2 people who’s puppy love didn’t really get to blossom due to unforeseen circumstances. But, the universe has a way of bringing 2 people who belong together back as one if it’s meant to be. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and that statement rings true for Fame and Dakoda. Thru everything they go through together and apart they always found their way back in each other’s arms. This was a different read from Charae and I liked it a lot! Her vocabulary skills has stepped up a notch and her character development has grown also. The emotions the characters go through you go through with them. The growth that is shown in this book is tremendous. Tawny had me dying and Taylor got on my last nerve. I’m glad Bristol and Koda grew close as the story progressed. Carti and Bristol were adorable but, Carti play too much lol. I don’t recall seeing any errors and if there was they were small. Lucia really tried it, Manny and his wife were disgusting. I’m really happy to see black men portrayed in a different light other than Drug dealer turned whatever. It was refreshing. Great Job Ming!

Cold Case Love

Dakoda and Fame's love was truly unbreakable. They experienced one trial after the other. Mason was a whole fraud and his wife was just as dumb. Carti was a mess for sure and I applauded Bristol for not falling for his bs. Fame and Carti definitely made a name for themselves. They had a plan and actually wanted better than what they originally had. I swear Taylor straight blew me. I couldn't understand how she'd risk losing the one that always had her best interest at heart. Manny was playing a very dirty game and deserved everything he got. I was relieved once Dakoda found her way back but not the reality she'd have to face. Lucia was trying too hard and had no regard to how deep the love ran between Dakoda and Fame. Things were rocky but I'm glad the cold case love that was shared finally had a happy ending.

Amazing!!!!!

This book was well scripted, paced and just AMAZING! It was written perfectly and each word tugged at my heart. The musical arrangements bore into my existence and I felt each emotion Flame and Dakota went through. Their love was unmatched and truly heaven sent. They encountered so many stumbling blocks but always ended up back together. Manny and his wife was pathetic! Just cruel and nasty! I was not expecting such tragedy to take place but im happy Dakota survived and was reunited with her family. Charae really put her all into this book! Her vocabulary has progressed and the raw emotion rendered me speechless! This was by far one of the best books I’ve read this year.

Wooooooooooow😮🔥🔥🔥

This book was freaking amazing! I’ve read every book Charae Lewis wrote and this was definitely a different read. I mean my emotions was all over the place. I loved how the story flowed with these characters. I loved the connection between Dakoda and Fame, they really loved each other. I mean all the obstacles they went through was so heart breaking. I’m just glad it all worked out in the end, I’m not getting into detail about what happened, just know that it’s crazy. I also like Carti, he was a mess. I would like to see something happen between him and Bristol🙏🏾 this was definitely worth more than five stars.

Amazing

Cold Case Love by Charae Lewis is a great book. The characters are crazy and dramatic. Charae Lewis does a good job. It’s well written and it’s phenomenal story.

Dakoda and Fame have been through in their lives. They have been separated for nine years. I’m happy that their mind are chess and 10 laws from bible. Also, I like when they’re working on their relationship. Hopefully, Carti and Dakoda ‘s sister need to stop playing game.

I can’t wait to read the story about Carti and Dakoda’s sister. I’ll continue to support and read more from this author.

Good read

Could have been great!

The story was very good, the childish and repetitive use of the words "orbs" and "lenses" was repeated over and over ad nauseum!! Though I know you meant eyes, I would like you to look at the true.definition. It appeared that you lost.track of your characters and there were loads of mistakes... nothing a good proof reading couldn't fix. You cannot use words, especially slang, repetitively, if you don't have a clear understanding of its meaning. I hated those words so much I could not read Lies.on Lips. I read the first few pages and stopped at the first "orbs". I just couldn't put myself through a tortuous read. I Never leave a series unfinished

This book was everything soooo good. I loved the relationship between Fame and Dakota their love was so sweet and I’m glad they got their happy ending. I loved the moms Darshay is a real one the way she loves and supports her girls makes me think of the support of my own mom. I’m so sad to these characters go but they definitely took me on a roller coaster ride of emotions. This is my first read by Charae but it won’t be my last!!! This read was everything!!!

I loved the storyline of this book. When I first began to read it I was like ok Fame and Dakoda meet fall in love, separate and reunite… no buggy right! But NO! As I read chapter for chapter I ended up on the edge of my seat! As Dakoda went through her ups and downs so did I, but I kept thinking what does the title have to do with this story UNTIL I got to that part and was like OMG! WTF! YOU’S A DIRTY MF! I went through so many emotions reading this and I absolutely loved it!

Fame and Dakota

I just want to start with we never appreciate our strict parents until we get grown. I can see why Darshay was the way she was. Honestly, it shaped them girls. Dakota definitely had some trails and tribulations but so did Fame. I am glad they found each other because it out weighed the bad. Definitely loved Tawny lol. I am also glad Dakota and Bristol were able to be on the same page because I don't like when sisters feed lol. Fame has always been made for Dakota and her for him.

This book had my emotions all over the place. But as always, Charae came to prove a point, She is one of the best and did not disappoint me. I truly enjoyed this book from start to finish. As I read, I felt like I was watching a movie. I was able to visualize and put a picture to her words. I loved how Fame handled Dakota throughout the book, got me over her in NEED! Great job on another successful book!!!

Beautiful love story!

I can say one of my favorite books of the year, I've cried, laugh, felt real love. No matter what love will always win. Fame was everything you can ask for in a man and my girl Dakoda went through so much trial and tribulation. I know this was a completed book, but I still want more bc they just was so perfect and real love. Mo-Mo was so cute! Will Cartier and Bristol get a spin-off?

Mediocre

Well I loved the way the story started. Fame and Dakota's love prevailed and a chance meeting solidified their teen age love. But I was thrown through a loop when she was kidnapped. I understand Manny's hatred for Faheem but three years, that was too much for me. I skipped through most of the separation, I don't know it irritated me, the length of the kidnapping was way to excessive. Then Lucia and the baby ugh, I was over it but I pushed through and finished.

This was a great book. The author has done it again with having my emotions all over the place. One second I’m happy, then sad, about to jump in the book to fight some of the characters cough cough (Taylor and Lucia), then back to being happy because of the ending. This book will definitely take you on an emotional roller coasters. So get your wine glasses, or shot glasses ready!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Best love story!

I loved this book!!! Usually, these types of novels paint a fairy tale picture of love that isn't real. Not this one! This was the most captivating, endearing and positive portrayal of black love that I've read in a long time. This couple literally went through hell, but their love carried them out of the fire and back into each other's arms.

Fame and Dakonda

This was definitely a good read. Manny he was one sick individuals and deserves what he got. It's sad about what he was doing to his adopted daughter all those years and the mother thought it was okay. Lucia she really thought she was something special not when it compared to Dakonda nobody can top her.
