A witch is missing, and if Nora can't find her, Eastwind may never be the same.
When a North Wind witch vanishes and is presumed dead, the Eastwind Coven asks psychic medium Nora Ashcroft for her help.
In need of a serious distraction from her own problems, she agrees to look into it for them.
When a rumor spreads that a werewolf has killed the young woman, longstanding tensions between witches and weres threaten to boil over. Can Nora uncover the truth before centuries of peace in Eastwind come to an abrupt and violent end?
Nova Nelson grew up on a steady diet of Agatha Christie novels. She loves the mind candy of cozy mysteries and has been weaving paranormal tales since she first learned handwriting. Those two loves meet in her Eastwind Witches series, and it's about time, if she does say so herself.
When she's not busy writing, she enjoys long walks with her strong-willed dogs and eating breakfast for dinner.

The winds of change and blowing strong and there’s a missing witch. Did the werewolves murder her? Will Nora solve this before the new law passes that is based solely on racism against weres? You won’t want to miss this one!
With successive books in the series, Nova Nelson has introduced a variety of characters and situations and sort of let them color the background until it was their turn to come to the fore.
In this offering, the Tanner reveals that there’s more to him than being the nicest guy in town that he had seemed to be. To be honest, he bored me a bit. I mean, how much perfection and goodness can you take? At last he reveals that there is a more “human” side to him, and I was relieved to see under the happy-seeming surface. The dude has grit.
The main thrust of the story this time is species bigotry, plain and simple. While the witch/werewolf antagonism that has been simmering begins to come to a rolling boil, the rest of Eastwind’s citizens don’t remain untouched by the fear-mongering and bad feelings being stirred up. I found plenty of food for thought as I read and could not help comparing this fictional situation to current events and attitudes in real life.
As always, there is much to look forward to as Nora continues to learn and grow both as a person and as a witch: Ted, a Grim Reaper, has been telling Nora that the “winds of change” are coming. Eastwind is heading into unsettling and potentially devastating times. What will be Nora’s role in the coming events? What the heck ARE those events? And Nora is still keeping a pretty big secret from Tanner, one that is sure to come back to bite her. How will it all work out?
Eastwind Witches: Eastwind Witches - I love these kinds of witches; nothing mean or nasty but tough when needed. My friend had these three books and we spent a day reading and laughing about the characters and the happenings. Funny, entertaining and well written, the stories are strong enough to keep the reader immersed in the pages, but with a simple storytelling style. The characters grow as the pages fly by and there's no Stupid Formula, just plain entertainment. Surprise, no vulgar language or cussing. Plus, you'll love Ted; sorry no spoilers. Little editing needed but not much.
Crossing Over Easy #1 - I love these kinds of witch stories. This is our first book by this author; my friend and I read her copies during one of our get-together weekends. We both had fun with them. Easily and quickly read, COE was funny and interesting. The characters are funny and entertaining; the story line was entertaining; and the dialog and actions weren't of the stupid variety. Even without a friend's comments, this book is good for relaxation or something simple but entertaining. Did I mention the book was entertaining. OK, I'm not funny, but Nova is a lot. 5*
Death Metal #2 - This book starts three months after Crossing Over Easy ended. We loved the dialog; it was almost as if we were doing the talking. Well written, funny and entertaining, the pages flew by as we laughed our way to the end. The characters are filling out more, including Eastwind, and their dialog is extremely entertaining. Nora is discovering more about herself and the perks and dangers of being a Fifth Wind witch. 5*
Third Knock The Charm #3 - This book begins two weeks after Death Metal ends. This time no one is killed, but many other things are instead. Funny, entertaining and this time filled with lots of sexual tension. My favorite character is the Library, which I wish all readers had access to one of their own. Ms. Nelson writes well, describes vividly and add humor in abundance. My friend and I just laughed ourselves silly about the message of sexual harassment is wrong, but physical assault is OK. Nope, we didn't disagree on half of that message, but we come from a time of real sexual harassment where slapping hands or faces was a must; now it's a crime to defend yourself. 5*
Queso de los Muertos #4 - Another well written, intriguing but quickly read Eastwind tale. Fast paced, entertaining and a touch of sexual tension, this is a good addition to the series. It's nice the author doesn't use vulgar language or explicit sex, but uses humor and well thought out storylines. The characters remain interesting and their dialog believable. There's no stupid formula in this series. I could use a bowl of queso and handmade chips. I contacted the author to review her books since I enjoyed the first three. 5*
Psych Out #5 - Wow, we've a few twists to the plot! This book isn't a cliffhanger, but it will fun to find out what's happening with Nora in the next book. Well written, intriguing and with a few kinks added to mix, along with more development of the characters. The plot is really intense near the end of the story and there's a few laughs along the way. Plus, the sexual tension is still running amok. 5*
Gone Witch #6 - Imagine the sexual tensions with three guys available, poor Nora. Another well written, fast paced plot filled with intrigue and suspense. Along with humor, there's a build up for a bad future ahead for Eastwind. Changes are already taking place, especially with several characters. Once started, this story was hard to put down. 5*
Love Spells Trouble #7 - What a neat spell, but what terrible residuals. Another fun and magical book. There's all kinds of characters from the past, along with trouble for the future. The storyline was pretty good and there's plenty of sexual tension and then some. There's plenty of intrigue and suspense to go with the tension and the humor. One of the characters leaves and I hated to see him go, but the ending still works just fine. 5*
Storm A-Brewin' #8 - Storm picks up a week later from when Love Spells Trouble ended. This is a very good story! All our favorite and not so favorite characters are dealing with a lot of hatred with certain businesses being targeted. The story mirrors the reverse discrimination that's so prominent in the news, but at least the book is interesting and with humor. 5* Eastwind Witches End.
This one was a return to proper 'mystery,' or perhaps, simply, a *better* mystery.
The annoying attempt a 'love triangle' seems to have finally run its course which a relief. It did nothing to further the plot, and its final phase did little but take the lustre from Tanner's character. I liked him a lot less by the end of this one.
Reacting badly, is one thing, reacting that immaturely, especially for a book like this, has probably permenantly damaged the character for me. Especially as the other guilty part - the one who IS written as immature, and selfish, does not get emotionally 'punished,' the way Nora does.
This sub-plot resolution felt a little too much like a double standard. I wasn't a fan of that plot direction, I am definitely not a fan of how the 'reveal' and its consequences played out.
The overly friendly ghost may, or may not, be a replacement for the 'annoying secondary romance,' but the rising tensions between the faction in the town is a meatier plot development.
Expanding the characters of Landon and Eva is also a welcome development. Landon, in particular, has grown over the last two books, and is front and centre in this one. His character, like Tanner's and the town's, is proving to be far more layered than originally believed. Unlike Tanner and Eastwind, Landon's revelations just endear him even more.
Nora's introduction to Eastwind, comes mostly via the Medium Rare diner, which now seems to be a somewhat shiny, happy, socially and politically neutral oasis in the increasingly less idyllic town.
This mystery, from it's outset, displays what has been a subtext of recent books, that the Coven runs the Witches, and the Witches run Eastwind. The Coven is finally showing its hand, and it is one that combines Eastwind's version of religion, and politics - never a healthy mix.
Added to this Nora's sudden awareness that she's more than a little naive about the way thing really work in her new home, and that the resentment and damage from what appeared to be a historic war, are actually alive and well.
The fault linrs appesr racist, and lie between Witches and Weres, colonist invaders and the indigenous population. There is segregation, there are '2nd class citizens,' and those deemed 'undesirable,' and dangerous, unpredictable and sub-(witch,) a whole town within a town of those classed as less-than.
Racism and the political manoeuvring encouraging it, were not something I expected from a Cosy series, and I have to say, I was pleased to be surprised.
I'm not sure if Nelson is actually heading out of Cosy territory, but the injustices that are becoming apparent as being woven into the town (and therefore the Realm,) are weightier than I would have expected from a Cosy mystery series.
I am not disappointed by this development, but it is more reminicent of darker Urban Fantasy novels or series. It will be very interesting to see how Nova Nelson handles these topics.
So, my final feelings about this book are mixed.
The 'love triangle' plot is, thankfully, and apparently, resolved, but Tanner's character has been permenantly damaged by his re/actions - at least in my eyes. And there is a much more dangerous, potential 'love triangle,' waiting in the wings - and it may prove to be equally tiresome. One can only hope that Ruby becomes involved and stops the nonsense before it gets too silly.
The revelation of the dark under-belly of Eastwind society and the injustice upon which it was founded; that the racist schisms that have apparently always divided the town are being deliberately widened is a grittier twist than I was expecting. The fires of 'fear of the other,' and racism are being deliberately stoked by powerful "religious" (in this setting,) forces and their political allies and/or lackeys. There are battle-lines being drawn between the invaders, and the native popuation, and how Nelson manages to keep this 'Cosy' remains to be seen.

I admit to total surprise. I have read this entire series, starting with book four and then going back to start with the first book because I enjoyed it so much. They are all good (reviews will be posted shortly) but the surprise is that the writer has surpassed herself. Book six starts fairly simply although you are quickly given a hint that things may be going awry when visitors arrive in the dead of night. It is more what they don't say, and the way they don't say it, than the actual question that they claim they have come to ask.
First some quick background in case you are a first time reader. The setting is a country called Eastwind, and Eastwind is populated by a mixture of beings, witches, were-animals of varying types, pixies, an angel, elves and sundry others including leprechauns. The witches are at the top end of society and fall into 4 main types - east, west, south and north - plus 2 fifth wind witches who are a rare type with powers that are different to the others and include necromancy. They appear to all live in harmony but the witches, or at least some of them, want things to change. This change is the basis of the book.
A witch seems to have disappeared and the visitors claim to be seeking knowledge of her whereabouts, and given that they choose to ask the only 2 fifth wind witches about this is an early sign that more is going on than beneath the surface. As in previous books it is left up to Nora to do the investigation, especially when it seems that the end result is very convenient for half of the population. I won't say anything more except to say that this is far and away the best book in the series to date. The groundwork is carefully laid down and the reader is carefully led in the direction leading to a suitable answer before following Nora and her current sidekick to the truth. Alongside the main storyline are several continuations started in previous books but more than enough information is given for a new reader to pick up and follow what is happening on the sidelines without any trouble.
The end of the book is nice and neat but leaves plenty for the next book, and makes it clear that it isn't just mankind that has prejudices and bigotry, these are part and parcel of other types of life or living creatures as well. While this book can easily be read on its own I would recommend going back and reading the others in the series from the beginning if only to find out more about the origin of Eastwind and it's inhabitants as well as Nora and her past life. I am really hoping that book 7 will be out shortly because I can't wait to see what happens as a result of the grand plan going off course and how, and by whom, things will be resolved. Another really excellent book from Nora Nelson in a series that manages to be different without playing into the stereotypical characteristics, good and bad, for all the different races, which includes the purely animal members of Eastwind.
“Tackling this mystery was supposed to make him feel better—taking action on a problem was often more important than solving the problem.”
In this, our sixth visit to Eastwind, Nora’s dealing with her usual cadre of Witches, familiars, Weres ... and Ted, while the secrets she’s keeping are doing a number on her personal life. Will she ever tell Tanner about her actions with his best friend? And what on earth bumping into her past life seems to be affecting her time in Eastwind is a whole OTHER story.
Still living with Ruby, Nora and her landlady get VIP visitors when the mayor and the Coven Council Head “drop by”, unannounced, asking if another witch, Grace, had been spotted; that she was missing and they seemed overly concerned. What was actually going on? Grace’s wannabe boyfriend Landon is sure she’s dead, but no one has visited Nora from the “other side” recently, so that can’t be the case....
Meanwhile, Tanner’s got some “twitchy feet” of his own, and it could affect his and Nora’s personal AND professional life. Where is Grace and why are the leaders of Eastwind concerned? Is the Witch lead anti-werewolf brigade influencing the situation? And what about Nora’s ghostly reunion with her blast from the past that no one but Ruby and Grim know about?
Once you get on the roller coaster you just can't get off until you finished reading Gone Witch!
Book 6 in the Eastwind Witches series is another winner! You go on this roller coaster ride through the many plot threads including a missing witch who may have been killed by a werewolf. This instigated a visit to Nora from the mayor and the head of the witches coven. They are worried that something is happening and want Nora to find out what happened to Grace the missing witch and is something going on that needs to be stopped? Then there is the romantic angle tangled into the story with Nora having kissed her boyfriend, Tanner's friend. And what secrets is Tanner withholding? There are so many threads, twists and turns in this story you just can't put the book down! The characters are well developed and you just want to follow them into the story! Nova Nelson has hit another homerun and I can't wait for the next episode in the Eastwind Witches series! I received and ARC from the author, but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own!
GONE WITCH is the 6th book in this series and just as fun, inventive and suspenseful as the previous ones! Nora and Tanner AND Nora and Donovan AND Nora and Roland (this is one busy girl!) still carry a lot of emotional baggage that creates melodramatic upheavals in all of their lives. While trying to decide just who she wants as her man (or witch or ghost), Nora struggles with solving a potential murder that showcases how prejudice and bigotry can poison life in Eastwind just as it can in our world. (Meanwhile, wonders of wonders, we discover that Tanner can tell a bald-face lie! I'm glad he's getting more dimension to his character - he's just been all too laid back and perfect.) At the finale of the book, Ted's warning that "the Winds of Change are coming" becomes fact and leaves us to wonder what will occur in Book 7. (You just gotta' love an author that can make up cussing phrases like "unicorn swirls", "sweet baby jackalopes" and "for fang's sake" and still manage to work in a mention of Dr. Phil !!)
I received an advance readers copy of this book and I am very happy to leave this review. I loved this latest book in the series. Nora is approached by two high-ups in the Coven to look into a missing witch. On the surface, it looks like she has been murdered by a werewolf. Nora is unsure about this, so with the help of one of missing witch's friends, she investigates what really happened. Meanwhile, she told her boyfriend, Tanner, that she had kissed his best friend. Of course he wasn't happy about this, so he broke up with her. This put her off her game somewhat. Tanner had a secret of his own. He had applied to be a deputy sheriff and had been accepted. Nora had to make sure that he didn't find out what she was planning to do, as it wasn't technically legal. She didn't want to involve him in that and jeopardize his new job. What a tangled mess.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! No, wait, I loved this book, along with every other book in this series by the talented author, Nova Nelson! I love each book in this series. I don't know how to explain it. Each book is fantastic and they just keep getting better! This is one series I will keep and re-read when I am in need of a good laugh and a vacation. I will also keep and re-read this series because they are just that good!! Love, love, love this book, and all the books in this series! I can hardly wait for the next book in this series! I hope it comes soon, because I am in need of a vacation and Nova Nelson has a way writing that transports you into the book. I most definitely recommend this book, as well as the entire series! Pick up a copy, you won't be disappointed!
Nora's life is in more disarray than usual. Her love life seems to be falling apart and she still has the hot ghost from her past. When the top witches come to her to find a missing witch, she really can't refuse. She gets a friend to help. Then a body is found outside the werewolf compound and everyone assumes it is the missing girl. Will Nora get her love life in order? Will she find the missing witch? Can she figure out who caused this and why? Exciting adventure awaits in this magical story! Sometimes you just find the right series to follow and this is one I found. I loved it and can't wait for the next one!
If you have not read this series then you must!!!! I have to stop reading these books at the bus stop and on the bus. People think I am crazy because I am laughing so hard , especially my favorite, Grim. When you coming to visit me, Grim? i will give you steak too!
Even if you start here at number six, you will be able to follow the story line, then will want to get caught on the series. I admit I have read books 1-3 and missed 4and 5 before reading this one. There were one or two references that I found to be a minuscule bit to understand. Again the book can be read without reading the rest of the seines beforehand.
I especially love to read these books when I have a bad day, they really change my attitude and never fail to give me joy and happiness.
I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest and freely given review.
Another awesome book in this series. I can’t wait for the next book to come out. I’ll be watching my email impatiently for the next one lol. I have definately found a new favorite author in Nova Nelson. There is just something about magic, witches and all paranormal that is intriguing.
When a witch goes missing who can you count on to solve the mystery all the while dealing with a breakup? Why the newest fifth wind witch of course!! And on top of all this the Wind of Change has left the Deadwoods. Can’t wait to see what happens in the next book as the Wind of Change is heading towards them.
I happily received this book in exchange for my review!! Couldn’t ask for a better series!!
Nora seems to be learning more and taking on more and more as the role of Fifth Witch, and Ruby is not as frequent in the story now. A little rough patch with Tanner through off Nora’s game a bit, but with the help of friend Landon, they were able to solve the mystery of Grace gone missing. Tanner has now accepted the role of deputy, leaving behind the partnership at the restaurant. Maybe this will be the undoing of the Nora/Tanner relationship and the onset of something more tangible with Donovan. Anxiously waiting for the next installment of Eastwind!!!
Wow, Book 6 in this series does not disappoint!!! Started reading and could not stop until it was finished. The ending was great, really left me wanting more, and soon. This story continued Nora and Tanner’s story as well as Roland and Diana’s saga. Oh what a tangled web we weave….. The story has so many open paths it will be interesting to see where the next book leads. Love this series, the characters are wonderful and the plot is fast paced and intriguing. The variety of characters is amazing and so thought-provoking. Highly recommend this book to all mystery lovers.
Love this series and this book is no exception! The storyline is well written and multidimensional. The characters are quirky of course but also have personalities that cause you to feel like they are old friends.
Nora and Tanner are having relationship problems which makes running the restaurant a bit tense. And a witch has disappeared presumed killed by a werewolf. Tensions are running high and Nora is trying to determine the truth.
I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.
When a North Wind witch, Grace, disappears it is up to Nora to find out if she is hiding to went on to the 'after life'. Either way, it is a great distraction from Nora's own problems between her and Tanner, and her boyfriend. Nora needs to get busy to keep the peace between the witches council and the werewolves. With help from Landon, Nora gets to work. What does she discover? You will have to read the book to find out. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book and this is my own opinion of it.
Why would everyone tell Nora she isn't the problem? She is. She knows she is. Hell, half these characters have issues. On the one hand, she is trying to be better but on the other, she is lying and keeping secrets. And yet it is others fault? I am struggling to like her. The mysteries themselves are good but she fails to see the obvious without someone's help and Ruby always seems to be way ahead of her. She is focused more on the looks of the men around her and her attraction to them all.
Poor Nora! Her relationship with Tanner, the disappearance of a North Wind witch, her training sessions with Ruby True and Oliver, AND Roland. Grim chiming in his thoughts on all matters certainly doesn't help Nora's decisions, but he is good at keeping her agitated, I mean, grounded. Nova Nelson's writing makes me laugh; it tugs at my heartstrings; and leaves me wanting more. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book!!
Well, isn't Nora's love life in a tangle? When she is asked by the highest authorities in the city to look into a witch's disappearance, Nora finds the opportunity a welcome distraction that she desperately needs. As she investigates, she gets tangled up in politics - finding herself amidst a brewing war between werewolves and witches...Ah, the Winds of Change have arrived...can't wait for the next book!
I love this series. This one seemed a little more suspenseful to me. We are finally getting to know the real Tanner (I knew he couldn't be as laid back and almost a non-entity as he seemed). He's more interesting in this book. Political conspiracy abounds in Eastwind which isn't my favorite thing to read about but the mystery is as good as ever and Nora is a fun, kind of unlikely heroine.
I received this book as an ARC in return for an honest review.
Gone Witch: Eastwind Witches #6 is my sixth Incredibly well-written, extremely enjoyable & readable read from author Nova Nelson, continuing the adventures & escapades of Nora Bradbury. Cozy mysterish, cleanly romantic, what other blurbs can I use to describe these books? Oh well, buy the book, read the books, get into a good author and some good characters as I have. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018)
Loved it! Really involved mystery but I did think it was the culprits when they first came up. I do believe they did not work independently, as Nora thinks at the end. Glad everything worked out well and see Nora's abilities are getting better. Looking forward to the next episode, book seven, and have refused to read the advance chapters until I am ready to read the whole book. It is a good series and you should read them all.
I preferred this one to book 5 because it had a bit more of the classic mystery solving aspect that I thought book 5 lacked. However, as I am reading these books, I am finding that I like Nora less and less. I'm not sure if it's just because we are reading from her POV and therefore are exposed to her thoughts and feelings, but she seems a little selfish and fickle. They're an easy read though when I want something light.
I started reading this, and couldn't put it down, I read it in one sitting! I love this series by Nova Nelson, it's full of well-written characters, a lot of plot threads and twists, and snarky humor. As soon as the book is released, I immerse myself in it, loving the interaction between Nora and Grim.
This is one of the few series I automatically pre-order!
A witch is missing and the mayor and high priestess wants Nora to find her on the downlow. Her friend Landon knew the missing witch and want d to help! Meanwhile the witch/werewolf tensions r rising. This was Nora has a lot to figure out in this one from multiple fronts. This is a great book and part of a great series. I highly recommend this book and series!
This is truly a 5 star series..Nora, Tanner, and Donavan are fun to follow..it is interesting how Nora keeps getting the men into one crazy thing after another..love the different paranormal species living together..not at all sunshine and roses..lots of "unicorn swirls" going on..fun series..keep them coming..
I’ve read them one after another (thank heavens for newer Authors!!!). This has actually been a very satisfying read. Please give this series a chance! I love the world building, I like the main character, and I love the fullness or the secondary characters.
Many new authors could learn a thing or two from this series!!!
The series has been a fun read from the beginning, with great characters and an enjoyable premise. As the series continues, the storyline’s grown more complex and I find myself wanting to start the next book as soon as I finish the current one. Recommended.
