OK, this sounds weird even to me as I write it, but I LOVE THIS COOKBOOK! Not only does it have an outstanding array of recipes from a wide variety of cultures, but her commentary throughout is full of humor and warmth. There are about 20 pages worth of encouragement, useful information, and FAQs, and the rest of the book is recipes. Most have photos, some of which are downright artistic (page 59). Recipes include servings, total time, active time, which functions are used, and what release method is used. There's also a list of dietary considerations the recipe either fits or can be easily modified to fit (with suggestions on how to do that). Some of the dietary considerations include are grain-free, gluten-free, egg-free, nut-free, soy-free, dairy-free, paleo, low-carb, vegan, and vegetarian. There are also vegetarian and vegan alternatives suggested for some recipes not specifically marked as such.
The author has a popular blog (twosleeves.com) and Facebook group and access to those easily triples the number of recipes you have access to. There's some overlap, but for those that were duplicated on the blog the recipes in the book are more polished and least one indicated a sugar-free alternative ingredient not mentioned in the book- it pays to check both.
My one complaint is the lack of any nutritional information, but basic information is found on the blog versions, so it's a minor complaint at best.
Not only is this book full of traditional recipes from around the world, but the ingredient lists are simple and very easy to find in the neighbourhood grocery supermarket. While there are a few recipes that call for exotic spice rubs and pastes (which can be easily sourced through Amazon or the local ethnic grocery store), the author has provided several recipes as well as tips on how to use snd reuse those rubs/spices. Thus, ensuring that it won’t go to waste.
I also love that the list of ingredients are often very similar and not more than 10 or 12 items, (in many cases it is as little as seven and all natural) per recipe.Of the 100 recipes only one recipe had 8 steps, all the rest had six or less steps and required little or no pre-planning.
Given the simplicity of the recipes, the wide array of cuisines covered, the fact that I can now cook with real ingredients, use one pot and have dinner on the table with no hassle, how could I not rate it as 5 star?
And before I forget, the book is filled with amazing photos.
With so many different cuisines to try out - I’m sure I’m in for an amazing culinary journey in the coming few months.
I tried a few recipes from this, and at least one was a knockout: the Tofu Makhani (listed as a variation under the Butter Chicken) recipe is DYNAMITE. It's easy and delicious, and the rice cooks in the pot along with the sauce (and is also super tasty). That one is definitely a keeper!
Should have been named 100 Simple and Delicious International Recipes.... A lot of hard to find ingredients and instructions on how to make you own ghee. Only a couple of recipes that I can see myself making. Glad I picked up from the library!
My husband found this cookbook at our local Dollar Tree for $1.25 (because ya know nothing is a dollar anymore). So we picked it up. When I first started flipping through the recipes, I thought, okay, some of these sound good. And then I picked one to try. I saw it called for only 1/4 cup of liquid and I was horrified. That's not what you do! You need a cup of liquid for the pot to come to pressure! So I'd heard all my Instant Pot-owning days. But I read some reviews and no one said their Instant Pot had exploded or anything horrible, so I figured I'd give it a try. Three Can Chicken. It turned out well! So I figured I'd try another. French Garlic Chicken. Another winner! And now I am sold. This was well worth the investment, and I expect I'll be cooking my way through it. The recipes are easy to follow, I've been able to find ingredients without too much trouble, and everything we've tried has been tasty. I recommend it!
My husband surprised me with this book. Another cookbook?! Then I flipped through it, found two recipes I l know well, and was delighted! A book by my favorite low carb instant pot blogger! Yesssss! Not just any cookbook, but one that is full of recipes I love. I tried two new recipes this week.
This is a really simple, comprehensive book for anyone looking for some guidance as well as recipes for their instant pot. Clear directions and some good pictures. I’m actually going to purchase this one.
Urvashi isn’t just a genius with Instant Pots and Indian food; she stretches across every border and helps us travel around the world with food. “Tough to find” ingredients are all available on Walmart.com or amazon.com, so nothing is hard to find. Amazeballs!!
Loving the instant pot life! A few recipes I'd like to try out. But major deduction points for the recipe pictures not match the recipes. What is the point of them then? Like clearly there are olives in the dish pictured, but no olives in the recipe on the adjoining page. HORRIBLE.
This looks terrific on a quick read through. The recipes are simple and cover a decent range from simple American to exotic cuisine without using too many specialty ingredients. I still need to test the recipes, but I think it looks like good stuff I would want to eat.
This is one of a series of books (Authorized by Instant Pot, not sure if that means recipes tested or just read and said “that will work”) with similar covers by different authors. I learn a bit more with each title.
Good instant pot recipes; however, only a handful of recipes caught my attention. Complicated recipes or exotic ingredients are not for me. I may borrow it again from my local library, but would not buy it for sure.
The recipes offer so much variety for our small family and save us money by eating at home instead of going to Asian, Mexican, and Mediterranean restaurants for the food we love. The author also has more ideas on her website. Thank you!
Great tips and advice. Nicely written. Interesting recipes with easy ingredients. I want to make almost everything in here. How is this not rated higher? Her website/blog is amazing. I have made many terrific recipes.
This author always produces excellent recipes and I have most of her books in my cookery book library. This I bought as an ebook. Great easy to follow recipes without the need to have lots and lots of ingredients. Definitely recommend
Simple my foot. These recipes are very fancy, and not in a good way. Plus, some of them sound gross. I know that's personal taste, but that's what this review is, after all: my personal taste.
Great for instructions on the Instapot. Generally found the recipes helpful but had to make adjustments as the food came out overcooked and in too much sauce (probably because of the Instapot).
Hmmmm... so this book title is confusing because the recipes are all like international type recipes. I found a couple I would try but not the book thought I was getting
Super easy and delicious recipes. Great pictures, too. I tried several of them and they come out delicious every time. I turned several of the recipes into rice dishes by simply adding a cup of rice and a cup of water to the recipe and cooking altogether. Came out great!
